“Do you realize that I have a Father’s love for you in the purest form? Because of what was won for you at the cross, We are in covenant. You are Mine! I watch over you. I desire to guide you and protect you. I will do whatever it takes to make sure that you grow up properly. My heart is for you and never against you. I love you!”

Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]


Children prosper under a good father, one who functions in love. There is always fertile soil to grow strong and healthy, which produces ripe, healthy fruit and feeds many with its goodness.

Father God provides rich soil for us to grow in. His heart is for us. His love is toward us. How wealthy we are as His children! What an opportunity to grow good and strong!

“I am calling you to prepare your heart to be completely in line with My heart. Some of you are not heeding My call. Submit yourselves to Me, that I might bring you into the fullness of life. Allow Me to break your heart, that you might desire the things that I desire.

I desire that none should perish. I desire for you to love your enemies. I desire that you place the interests of others before your own interests just as Jesus did. I desire that you look to heavenly things and discard all the ways of the world. Are these the things that you really desire? Why, then, do you push aside those I bring to you who need to see Jesus? Why do you embrace the things of the world? You need to respond to My call. There will come a day when you won’t be able to hear Me because of your hardened heart. That will be a dark day for you!”

13Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted from God; for God is incapable of being tempted by [what is] evil and He Himself tempts no one.

14But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).

There is a vast difference between understanding and living under grace and mercy, and falling into complacency. There is no comparison between a heart that grieves because of the sin it embraces—sin it is continuously repenting of before the Lord—and the heart that has ignored the continual wooing and warnings of the Lord to repent. So many of us, who have walked a long time with the Lord, have become self-righteous, thinking that our Lord overlooks the lack of first love qualities in us because we have been with Him for so long, and have done so many things for Him. That’s a big oops!

“How do you think you’d fare if I had you in jungle survival training, instead of the training that I’ve had you in—to be My light to the world and to represent Jesus so more would come to Him? Suppose tomorrow when you woke up, the plane heading for the jungle was on the runway, your parachute was being strapped on, and your flight plan showed the drop off point, which meant you would jump and remain in the jungle for one year. As of that very moment, there would be no more training. You would survive only to the extent to which you have already submitted to your training. How ready would you be?

If you had submitted to survival training in the whimsical way that you have trained for My call, I’m afraid you wouldn’t last very long once you hit the jungle floor. You will not be able to represent Me properly as the times change either. You have not taken My training seriously. You have not embraced My instructions with all your heart; and, therefore, you are not ready for what is ahead.

Soon you will need to draw upon My power to rise above all that is happening around you. Some of you still do not know how to do that. You need to take seriously what I am teaching you. Everything is for your good and for My plan. Submit fully to My training in your life. Embrace the trials; relish the hardships. Know that they are for your good and for My purposes to be fulfilled in you.”

9Moreover, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we yielded [to them] and respected [them for training us]. Shall we not much more cheerfully submit to the Father of spirits and so [truly] live?

10For [our earthly fathers] disciplined us for only a short period of time and chastised us as seemed proper and good to them; but He disciplines us for our certain good, that we may become sharers in His own holiness.


It is a well-known fact that those who do not submit to training, whether on the job or in the military, do as much harm to those around them as they do to themselves, because they have little knowledge when called upon to do their jobs. Most of the time, they have little idea of how much harm their foolishness causes.

In the body of Christ at present, few of us know how to trust the Lord. Most of us squirm and flutter, trying to remove ourselves from the uncomfortableness of His training; instead of standing firm, waiting for the work to be done in us.

Because we are so selfish and put our own comfort above the welfare of others, we will not have what’s needed when the world needs to see Jesus. We will look and act like all the others as they go about in a blind panic when difficult situations arise. That isn’t the way Jesus would act. That should not be the way we act. Sadly, most of us will not know any other way.

Teach me Your way, Lord. Make me listen!

“You need to walk in the forgiveness that I have provided for you. The enemy of your soul would delight in having you remain under the condemnation of what you have done in the past, even those things you did before you came to Me. He continually reminds you of your sin.

My Holy Spirit always reminds you of complete forgiveness and acceptance. The person you were before you accepted the Lordship of Jesus over your life is dead. There is no life there anymore. Because you have chosen to come to Me, I have taken care of your past. I am in charge of your present days, days that I have appointed for you. I have plans for your future.

Walk in freedom. Pray for those you have harmed when I bring them to mind. Place them in My hands once and for all time. I will take care of them. It is My job, not yours, to focus on how they are to be healed. It’s what I promised to do for you. You do what I call you to do this day. Walk in My love and forgiveness. Looking back will harm Our relationship. It will rob you of the joy I have for you. Looking ahead will overwhelm you. It will cause you to fear the future. I am sufficient for today. Hold My hand; I am here for you.”

As the Lord teaches us humility, He has a way of showing each of us how much we need Him. He reveals the darkness of our own hearts, so that we can look past the failings of others and extend mercy to them. His acts of love are far different from the condemnation in which Satan attempts to have us reside.

The enemy wants to make sure that we concentrate on our failures, rather than on the new life we have in Christ. It is a trap full of entanglements that, if given enough attention, will keep us from walking in the freedom with which Christ has set us free.

“I understand the struggles you are going through. I know how they are bringing you to a point where you have little strength. I am aware of your requests and petitions to Me. Be patient just a little longer until patience has its perfect work in you. While the answers to your prayers are being formed to completion, come to Me to hear My heart for your life. Allow Me to show you the freedoms that are being created in you. Rest in My assurance that I know who you are and what you are becoming. The answers to your needs are on the way. While that work is in progress, fellowship with Me will bring life to your heart. I love you.”

God is doing a mighty work in the hearts of those He has chosen to be part of these end times. That work makes His greatly loved children appear as if they have no answers for anything that is happening to them. It feels like there is no way to turn, no way out of your situation - no matter what you try or how hard you work.

Be encouraged! You are in the school of your Father God. He is forming you into His own image, and developing the patient character of Jesus in you. It is a work that is happening in many at this very time. Remember that God is there for you. Embrace what He is doing.

“After all your worries, plans, schemes, and devotion to things that pad your own comfort zone, some of you will come to Jesus empty-handed. The time you’ve spent on plans other than My plans will have been wasted on nothing. Remember what I am about to say and ponder My Word.

Your life is but a whisper, one heartbeat away from absolute reality. After your last breath, there is an accounting of how you have responded to My calling. Grace and mercy will be abundant at that time, but there will also be a reality of loss when you find out how you could have blessed Jesus; but, instead, chose to squander My gifts upon your flesh— flesh that will then be burned away. Much that seems important and urgent on earth has no value in heaven. Invest in My eternal plans. Focus on My ways for you. When you come to Me that day, I desire you to be prosperous as I define prosperity. Bless Jesus as He has blessed you.”

11For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)…

13The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done.

14If the work which any person has built on this Foundation [any product of his efforts whatever] survives [this test], he will get his reward.

15But if any person’s work is burned up [under the test], he will suffer the loss [of it all, losing his reward], though he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has passed] through fire.


Many of us are so focused on the things of everyday life that we forget that this world is passing away. What we should be preparing for is our eternal world, the world we will have forever. If we read the Word properly, there is a direct impact on our eternal lives because of the choices we make and priorities we establish while living this life. We are given every opportunity, every tool, and every access to wisdom, so that Jesus is blessed by our lives. It would seem wise to take this opportunity to find out what really pleases His heart.

“You need to begin the quest for those you can trust. The time is coming when it will be very important to understand who your friends and holy alliances are. Spiritual discernment will be the key to your safety. Be especially aware of those who seem to be with you, but have a hidden agenda and are out to destroy the work that I have given you.

Watch for jealousies. Cherish your anointing. Beware of those who only want to distract you and consume your time in endless controversies. In the times ahead, I will send many alliances your way. Mark them by their integrity regarding My Word. Watch their lifestyles. Judge their priorities. Allow Me to show you truth concerning their position in your life.”

Amos 3:3 KJV

“Can two walk together except they be agreed?”

Acts 15:36-40 AMP

36And after some time Paul said to Barnabas, Come let us go back and again visit and help and minister to the brethren in every town where we made known the message of the Lord, and see how they are getting along.

37Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark [his near relative].

38But Paul did not think it best to have along with them the one who had quit and deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone on with them to the work.

39And there followed a sharp disagreement between them, so that they separated from each other, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.

40But Paul selected Silas and set out, being commended by the brethren to the grace (the favor and mercy) of the Lord.


The above words are not to be confused with being judgmental and condemning, or even about loving your enemies. We must never condemn others and are required to love everyone, even our enemies.

What is often misunderstood is the need to be cautious about placing trust in those who are untrustworthy, walking together with the untrained, and relying on the spiritual integrity of someone who has none. Many lives and ministries have been sidetracked or even destroyed by people infiltrating their ranks with hidden agendas, impure motives, and untested maturity—even though they may have come from prominent, seemingly successful positions, and appear spiritually mature.

After more than thirty years in outreach, we have learned that very few people are what they seem at first encounter. Because of that and our awareness of the importance of being stewards of our mission, we need to discern how much importance people place on their life in Christ, especially if there is an attempt to walk closely with us. The Lord has many times allowed the true spiritual colors of individuals to come to light, mercifully before much harm is done. Over time, the Lord has given us true, trustworthy alliances—proven faithful under fire and spiritually wealthy. He has also shown us those who buckle under when times get rough.

In the times and seasons ahead, be especially discerning about those you allow to share in your calling or the private issues of your life. Love everyone. Befriend and assist many. Bless your enemies. Allow the Lord, however, to make it very clear to you those with whom you are to walk closely and share His work.

“There are times when I orchestrate your life away from the things you want and the turns you desire to take. I will step in the way of some of the directions in which you are heading. I will provide detours on the road that you are traveling. You will experience sudden heart changes, noticeable attitude adjustments on the parts of others involved, and outcomes that were unpredictable in the beginning of your journey— all so that you are stopped from making a major mistake in your life’s direction. Although you will not understand, at the time, why your plans did not work out and your present situation seems as if I have not answered your prayers, one day you will see that My way was correct.

I always have your best interests in My heart. I always know how you can best fulfill the plan I have for you. Submit to My will in every situation. Let go of anything that is not My promise to you, which I am not allowing to come to pass. You have limited understanding. I know the beginning from the end.”

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

We have to be careful to discern the difference between God-spoken promises that we have been given and personal desires that we want the Lord to fulfill for us. You know—those heart cravings that are not from Him, but feel as if they should be.

When we have been given a promise by the Lord, we can stand with Him until it is fulfilled, no matter how long it takes or how impossible its fulfillment in the future appears to be. If it really is His promise, we can have absolute confidence that He will fulfill it in His time and in the way He chooses.

After many years of being with the Lord, I can look back and find that He has often protected me from myself. He did not allow something to happen that I was sure He should bring to pass for me. At the time, I thought it had to be His will. It felt so right, and it would make me really, really happy. I knew for sure it was a God thing!

As I remember situations, relationships, and opportunities that did not come to pass as I thought they should, I am so grateful for the Lord’s intervention. From the vantage point of hind sight, I now see that some of what I wanted would have caused great harm to me and the work of the Lord, had I continued to travel the road I was on. God sure takes care of His ignorant kids. Whew!

“You need to take stock of what you have used to replace intimacy with Me. What have you used to comfort yourself, instead of allowing Me to do a deeper work in your heart? Do you not know that you are working against Me when you do such things? I am fulfilling My promise by making you into the character of Jesus, while you are buying things that you really don’t need, and taking on activities to make you feel better. How counterproductive is that?

Observe why you are doing what you are doing. Compare it to what I would be doing to make you more like Jesus. Spend enough time with Me to know what is truth for your life. Submit to My hand upon you.”

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.


I cringe when I attend evangelistic altar calls where the preacher promises health, wealth, and a trouble-free life if someone comes to Jesus. Usually, it is only a matter of time before a person who has responded to come to Christ for those reasons finds himself disenchanted, confused, and looking for other ways to soothe the need he has inside.

Our submission to Jesus as Lord should be for one reason and one reason alone. We are to submit to His Lordship because He is the only Lord, and we are created to love and serve Him.

Through the working and wooing of the Holy Spirit, we come to Jesus. Once we respond to that call, our lives are a continuous series of submissions to the hand of our Lord and changes that are completed in us because of those submissions. We are being made into the image of Christ. To do anything to fight against that process is actually working against God. No wonder we are so exhausted so much of the time!

“Delight in Me. I am your light in the darkest parts of your journey. Take My hand. I will walk with you. I am always near you. I will guide you through the perilous parts of your journey. Do not look around at the things that will bring you fear. Look into My eyes. Focus your attention on Me. You will finish your tasks and bring glory to Jesus. On the other side of this specific path, there is light. You will make it, because I am with you.”

Acts 4:29-33 NIV

29“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.


As you know, most of these Father’s Heart messages are for me first. Since I gave my life to the Lord, they have come to me as comfort, encouragement, and exhortation when I seek Him in prayer. I have been told to share them with those of you who desire to read them. Many of you have said that they are pertinent to your life and your personal walk when they arrive; that they are a word to you as well. Praise God!

Those of you who read these messages are the “very few.” People seem to be able to discard or ignore what we believe to be the heart of God as they would yesterday’s news. It can be very discouraging at times when these messages and our writings are not desired by the church in general, even though they all are a call to the only answer during these challenging times—a closer walk with Jesus. At times we wonder if we should continue. We know, however, that we can’t stop heralding the call. We would be living in disobedience if we did. Our Father wants His words to go to those who will hear. That is who we are asked to serve, no matter how lonely it feels.

If you are called to draw near to the Lord or have been under attack because of what you are called to do for Him, be encouraged. Never give up. Jesus is with you. Your Father is at your side. The Holy Spirit will guide you. You need to commit to pay whatever price is required to continue in the direction in which your Lord and Father has called you. Stand! Trust in Jesus! He is your Lord.

You have access to the answer to your every question, if you take the time to search My Word. You have peace in your eternity. You are truly blessed.”

Romans 8:28 NIV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Phil. 4:6-7 AMP

6Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

7And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.


So many of us forget to rest in the fact that we have the answer to life. His Name is Jesus.

In Jesus, we have access to the heart of our Father God. We are invited into His presence for any reason, anytime, as many times as we need. We are never alone and never without because we have been given the Holy Spirit. When our time on earth is over, we have the promise of an eternity in the presence of God. We are truly blessed!

“As a whole, My church has been weighed and found wanting. You who hear need to come out from her. You must come back to My Word and its fullness, or you will experience the judgment that is about to be placed on those who will not hear. I have seen the falling away. I have tolerated the self-serving attitudes of those who have attempted to form Me into their image. They have misused My words, redefined My purposes, and turned their backs on the Spirit Who once was accepted as truth, defining truth to suit their own agendas. They have witnessed to others that My presence is with them, when I am nowhere near where they are. I don’t come to their ways; they must come to Mine. They sing songs of praise because of what I have done, instead of praising Me for Who I am. Deep down, they credit themselves for their prosperity and blame Me for their trials.

I have allowed the cold, hard heart to run its course and have asked you, who have eyes to see and ears to hear, to make choices. Some of you have seen what has happened to My people, and hate what you see; but have needed to know for sure what to do. I now call you to come out. Cold fellowships are religious activities that only make participants feel comfortable where they are. Cold preachers are no longer My messengers. They allow My children to be complacent.

I am about to deal with them. I have never been, nor ever will be, part of religious folly. Time is too short to play religious games. If you do, you will miss what I am really doing. You come away with Me. You get back to My Word. You join with others who see, and live the life of Jesus before those who need to know Him. Ignore the sound of judgments that are bringing those who would not hear to their knees. In their independence, they would not come to Me. Soon they will submit. You do My work, endued with My power that comes from being in My presence. I am with you.”

21I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies.

22Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings I will have no regard for them.

There comes a time when the Lord says, “Enough.” Just before that time, He always calls out those who can hear His call and separate themselves from those with whom He is displeased. They miss His judgment because of their obedience.

For many years, I believe that the Lord has been calling His people to pursue holiness and intimacy with Him. In those years, most of us have seen many fellowships resist the call to holiness, and replace it with programs and events. Those, who have closed their spiritual ears to the call of God, busy themselves with religious activity, rather than spend the time needed in prayer and fellowship with the Lord, so that they can hear His heart.

Merry and I are incredibly blessed in knowing honest lovers of our Lord all over the land. So often we hear aching hearts crying out for a fellowship near them that doesn’t compromise the call they are hearing, a call to holiness. The common lament is that a call to participate in activities and doing good things has replaced the message of spending time with God. Spending quality time in prayer is avoided. Hours in prayer is considered radical and sometimes unheard of, even by leadership. They say that they have no place to go, so they congregate with one or two like-minded believers in their own homes, continually searching for a strong Word and a call to intimacy, wherever they can find it.

The call to become a holy, separated people, who are dedicated to intimacy with devoted, bride-like qualities, is becoming louder and more urgent each moment. At the same time, cold, dead religious activity vies for the hearts of the unaware. It feeds on those who have closed their ears and hardened their hearts to the Holy Spirit, and are too busy doing good things to spend time with their Lord.

“Do you know what a prostitute is? It is someone who is willing to sell his or her false affections for a price. Can you imagine the heartbreak of the father of the prostitute? In the world, the rationale would be that his actions must have been less than perfect to cause his child to become so calloused toward himself or herself and others, that he or she is able to function as a prostitute.

What have I done to cause you to care so little, that you give yourselves away to any lover that is willing to satisfy your required price? I have purchased you for a great price. You have gladly received the benefits of My purchase and have consumed them upon yourself. While you say that you are Mine, I notice that your eyes are wandering to and fro, attempting to find the next lover that will satisfy you in some way. As a Father, I grieve. Nothing that I have done causes you to care so little. Nothing that you have been given would cause you to be unsatisfied. But you are. You constantly need more from Me to fulfill your wandering desires.

Unlike someone who would give up on you because you care so little, I never will. Unlike a wounded father who is incapable of giving any more, I will continue to lavish My love on you until you can see clearly and turn from your ways. Each time you repent of your wandering, I will forgive you, knowing that as soon as other lovers comes along, you will follow them again. I will forgive, and forgive, and forgive. I love you. I remember going to the Lord for what must have been the thousandth time with the same sin, grieving over my failure; and knowing that I would soon be back in the same position, confessing once again. In the beginning, I would go to the Lord so that I could feel good, so that I could be clean again. His forgiveness and the promise of complete restoration of our fellowship always drove me back to that place of cleansing. In my hurt, undoneness, and immaturity, however, I could never really come to true repentance - a complete turning from my sin. I came to Him for my good, so that I would feel better. In His great love, He was always there. He knew that I’d be back the next time I stepped on His love, but He never turned me away.

Eventually, however, something wonderful happened. My reason for coming to Him with my sin began to change. Because of the astounding love of my Lord, Who always accepted me and never gave up on me, I was free to come to Him until the Word that was working in me could change my heart from within.

I began to come to Him with my sin, not only to become cleansed; but because I began to see how much my sin grieved my Father. He hurt when our fellowship was broken. He grieved as He saw me fall back into my own vomit. He was more anxious to clean me off than I was to be clean.

Eventually, I no longer wanted to offend Him. His love became more powerful than my desire to commit that sin. He held me while I was too immature to see clearly. Then He changed me as He said He would. This happened to sin after sin after sin. It is still happening, and will continue to happen until He calls me home. What an incredible promise. What an incredible God!

“If you seek after anything but a deeper relationship with Me, you will travel down many trails that lead to dead ends, and experience only a portion of My Word. You will need to turn from them and eventually come to a place of making Me your priority. Remember this, miracles do happen; but if you only seek them, you will find only part of Who I am.

It is the same with all the gifts that I provide. The immature run after spiritual experiences and supernatural power. The mature run hard after Jesus and a deeper relationship with Me. I want you to crave intimacy. Because of that intimacy, I will be able to send you to where I am performing miracles and allow you to flow in My power.”

It amazes me to see how often Jesus went away to be with His Father. He was telling us that one can minister only from a place of communion and direction.

In contrast, most of us crave the spiritual power, the miracle-working glory, and the wisdom to accomplish work here on earth. We have no idea that such power without intimacy and maturity is like putting a revolver in the hands of a child. He can make it work, but has little ability to understand - prior to it going off - the impact of what havoc it can reap.

“These days you must be very careful to whom you are listening. There are many voices attempting to have their way with you. You need to remember that every one of them has one goal in mind. They all want to minimize Our time together, either personally or through the Word. When they do that, you begin to listen to what they have to say. You become weak and vulnerable to fear and susceptible to lies that minimize the importance of those things that are important to Me.

Shake yourself loose from whatever is distracting you from Our time together, even good-sounding things. Fight to overcome the sirens that distract you from Me, your only safety in the coming times. You really serve the one to whom you listen. Who you listen to is very important.”

Sometimes it is so much easier to listen to those things that are in our faces, especially when we become weary. Few of us realize that there is a direct correlation between how much quality time we spend with our Lord, and how well we discern what is important in every area of our lives.

One of the major reasons for the cross is so that we can have access to Father God. Jesus spent His life so that we could go to Him and be with Him. How foolish we are if we don’t go there as often as we can.

“It is time to find those whom you can really trust and covenant with them. It is important for you to love every brother and sister, but some who call themselves by My Name have not heeded My warnings and My call to intimacy and holiness. They will hinder you when My presence is needed to overcome. They will not know how to dwell in My presence; and, therefore, will be unable to move with Me for real wisdom. It will be dangerous to count on them. It will not be safe to rely upon them for anything, because they will be reacting in the flesh rather than in My Spirit. That is the road to certain calamity.

True friends are those who have determined to heed the season, and seek holiness as their only reason to live. When the time for “back-to-back” warfare is needed, they will serve as Jesus served. They can be trusted. Think on this. When you need life or death counsel, power for healing, or silent guardianship, who would you rather have in your corner - someone who is playing church games or someone who has sold out to Me? It is not wrong to make qualified, prayerful assessments, even on those in leadership roles - especially on those in leadership roles. They will do much harm to young believers if they have not chosen the crucified life of My Son.

Love everyone, but find like-minded remnant people to trust. You must also make sure that you are trustworthy. If you don’t, I will require an accountability for those I send you. You know better. Trust in Me. Trust those who are trustworthy. Become worthy of someone’s trust. Become worthy of My trust!”

Few Christians realize the harm that is caused by the violation of a trust. The Word places lies on the same level of sin as murder. They are both horrible sins because of the death that they cause. Trust violations come in many forms, and destroy at many levels.

In the situation of a marriage, loose words about partners destroy more intimacy than any other violation. They indicate a heart that is not trustworthy. Since a Christian marriage is a closed institution, one where no one has the right to be privy to anything unless the other spouse agrees, revealing the partner’s sins and failures in any form - even in jest, even “in confidence” to friends, even “for prayer” - puts a death seal on true intimacy. It also eliminates any hope of spiritual healing that is part of the marriage privilege.

In the Christian walk, few understand that trusting one another is paramount to growth, safety, and spiritual warfare. Therefore, few Christians realize the importance of being trustworthy. Violations occur so often that it has become commonplace, almost expected, that unbreakable trust is no longer part of our mandate one to another. (It must be understood that there is a gigantic difference between forgiving someone and being able to trust him or her again. We must always forgive, but trusting again only happens when the violator has grown to become trustworthy once more. That sometimes never happens. Forgive, and walk in the freedom of that forgiveness; but don’t be foolish enough to share your intimacies with someone who does not hold them in the highest esteem. That’s not godly wisdom.)

In the times ahead, trustworthy friends must be found. When you need prayer cover because of your stand for Christ, trustworthy friends are those who actually pray fervently when they say they will. They never betray your confidences. Although they may tell you hard truth from the heart of God for your growth, they never side against you, no matter how many failures you have displayed. They may not agree with you, but are always “for” you, rather than “against” you at the first sign of trouble, etc. They are those who fear the Lord and His Word, and put it into action, always. That only comes from being with Him.

Would you know for sure that everything between Us has been taken care of? Make sure that you focus on the issue of Lordship. Who really is the Lord over everything in your life? Is there a part of who you are, or what you have, that has not been completely surrendered to Jesus? What about your relationship with others? Do you judge, hate, hold grudges, or harbor unforgiveness? Do you hold on to any part of your life, or have you turned everything into My hands? Examine your life. I do!”

So often “life” gets in the way of those things that are really important. At the same time, God is using our life experiences to expose our hearts, and show us who we really are; all so that we can come to Him for cleansing.

Because this life is so “in our faces,” most of us forget that it is only a wisp of time compared to our eternal future. These days are very important, but not for the reasons that we often think. These days establish all of our eternal days.

The world focuses on this life span as the only time of importance. Most spend more effort deciding which car to buy or house to own, than they give to deciding what is “absolute truth” after they close their eyes for the last time. It seems that sometimes the body of Christ has fallen into the same pattern. We have accepted our favorite teachings to make sure that we are “covered” with God, and then rest in them, giving the balance of our thoughts to how we can live comfortably.

We are supposed to know better. We are in this world, but not of it. Why would we agree with any portion of what the world holds dear, especially something as important to God as this?

“When Jesus was dead in the tomb, it was just a matter of time before I said, ‘Come forth.’ My intervention was inevitable. Remember, it was absolutely necessary for Jesus to die. It was also mandatory that He overcame death.

So it is with you. When you submit to the absolute Lordship of Jesus, your old form of living ceases to exist. You die to who you were. If any area of your life has not fully submitted to that death in Him, I must complete that work in you. I cannot leave you as you are.

When the time is right, however, and the work that needs to be done is completed in you, I will say ‘come forth’ to you just as I said it to Jesus. I will raise you up to a renewed life in Him. One more step has been completed for you to serve Me fully. I will intervene in your life to complete what has been started at the cross. It is inevitable. It is because I love you.”

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]: it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.


The heart revival that is being implemented all across this land in those who are submitting to the will of the Lord is a renewal of the absolute Lordship of Jesus in our lives and absolute trust in God. That means an absolute death to our own lordship in every aspect of our lives and a death to doing anything in our own strength. It means a conscious submission of all that we are to the cross.

True crucifixion means that a death must happen. We are called to be dead in Christ so that His life can be lived through each of us. The hardest thing about being dead in Christ is lying on the slab as if dead until He calls us forth.

Most of us, instead of patiently waiting for the Lord to intervene in our lives, get up off the slab, pace around the tomb, kick at the stone; and yell at God to roll away the stone because we feel we’ve been there long enough. When our patience wears out, we take a pry bar, move the stone ourselves (doing whatever we can do in our own strength to get us out of our pressure situation,) and go forth in very much the same manner as we did before - powerless, fully alive to our own strength, and “lean of soul” in the work of the Lord. We have no real power to give others because we have not allowed Christ’s power to be formed in us.

There is a little ditty that goes like this: “I anticipate the inevitable, the supernatural intervention of God, I expect a miracle...” As the Lord completes the needed work in you, lie on the slab of your spiritual grave as if fully dead, anticipating the supernatural intervention of God in your life. Expect a miracle. Let Him remove the stone. He will call you forth! He will raise you up in His power! He will fully live His life through you after He has removed every trace of your old life completely! It is His way. It is inevitable.

“Are your days significant in My eyes? Personally, you are of great significance to Me because of Jesus. However, how close is your life to the most significant life that ever lived? How much do you resemble Jesus in your daily priorities and activities? You say that you are a follower of His life. In what ways are you doing that? Do you love others as He does? Do you commune with Me in the way He showed you? Do you care only about My will being done everywhere and in every way? In what way do you really resemble Him? Who are you really following while still calling yourself by His Name?”

I John 2:6 AMP

Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.


What does it really mean to be a follower of Jesus according to God? Could it be that every one of us has bought the lie to some degree that we can call ourselves by His Name and still go about our business, little resembling Who He really is?

If someone would take your name, claim your identity, and travel as your ambassador, but acted contrary to your wishes and beliefs, how would you feel? What if he cared little about what you stood for, spoke his own words, and gave his personal opinions to others - opinions that little resembled yours? If he cared little about protecting your reputation, defending your good name, or maintaining your integrity, how long would you desire that he continue to represent you?

Is that not what we do to Jesus every day? We say that we abide in Him, but walk and conduct ourselves in a way that little resembles the way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

“Where is your heart? To whom are you listening? What kind of plans are you making and why am I not at the center of them? Be encouraged. I am so pleased at the progress most of you are making toward absolute surrender to My will.

I know that it seems as if nothing is changing in you, that you are never going to be who I want you to be. I also know and see much more than you can from your limited perspective. I see your surrendering heart. I see your desire to sometimes become all that I want you to be. I also see your frustration when you see how little you seem to have changed when you leave Me out of your plans. What little you see happening in you is not truth as I see it.

Most of you, who are on the threshold of greatness in My eyes, have never been really, really good at anything. You have walked through your lives with average gifts and talents, excelling in possibly one or two areas. Perfection in anything, however, seems to have eluded you. Again, be encouraged. Even though you can only see your lukewarm heart, your distracted goals, and your self-focus, I see your perfection through the work of the cross. I also see greatness in your future. I have the ability to look past who you are at present, to see who you are becoming, and also see who you will forever be.

At present, through Jesus, you are perfect to Me. Soon you will function in greatness and excel at loving Me. Then you will become holy. I will have your whole heart. Your thoughts will be My thoughts. I will be the center of your very being.”

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…


I love the prospect of excelling at loving Him. The thought of never being really, really good at anything has haunted me most of my life. The possibility of being on the threshold of greatness in the eyes of my Lord is beyond my comprehension. The promise of holiness encourages me beyond belief.

Think of it. At present, we are perfect in God’s eyes because of the wonder of the cross and its work. Because we have embraced that sacrifice, we have entered into the covenant promise of being made holy. The process has begun and is being completed this very moment whether we feel it or not. Jesus is completing us. Boy! That takes a ton of weight off my back.

In these days, because of the times and seasons and the awareness of who I am not, I have found myself striving to do what Jesus is already doing in me. Somehow, I have attempted to do what is not my job to do. My job is to simply surrender to the process and have faith that the work is being done in me. I have the freedom to know that, in my Father’s eyes, I am perfect right now. I am fully accepted by Him. I can also be confident that He has the ability to make me what He wants me to be. In fact, because He has begun the process, anything that I do to try to stop it will be nullified. He will overcome my stupidity with His love.

So many of My children think that they are available to do what I ask them to do, but they place restrictions on My hand because of their choices and responsibilities. Most are so in debt that they serve all of the other gods that own them. There is no question that I can and will use you where you are, but are you sure that you are where I have asked you to be? I ask you this question. Would you sell everything or give away everything that owns you, if I asked you to do so? Why not?”

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”


Some time ago, Merry, Jubilee, and I went on what turned out to be a five-year mission trip. We were called to go on faith, having just enough to get where we were called to go. Then we waited on the Lord for His next provision. Many judged us for living that kind of life. I’m convinced we were called to live this way so that we could “own” the messages we’ve been given for today’s church.

During our travels, we met and associated with the full spectrum of God’s people - from those who had the very basics to those who had enough for several lifetimes and craved even more. One major lesson that we learned about today’s church is, that even though most say that they are willing to serve God, they are in bondage to what they own; and it actually owns them. Very, very few would be able to go where the Lord might call them to go because of the entanglements in their lives.

We have discovered that many, in fact, have been called at one time or another by the Lord, and have refused the call for a myriad of reasons - all centered around their inability to let go of what they really serve. I believe that there are going to be a lot of very surprised people on the day they face Jesus.

“If these were the closing moments of time, how would you live your life? More than likely, you would do what it takes to make all of your relationships right. You would probably get in touch with those that you love and express how much they mean to you. Then you would deal with those who have offended you, forgiving everyone, and asking for forgiveness from those you have offended. I’m sure that Our relationship would also change. I would find you drawing closer to Me, making sure that everything in your life was in line with My Word and My desires for your life. You would take care of any hidden sin, any hint of discretion. Finally you would prepare for Our meeting face to Face by devoting yourself completely to Me, surrendering your heart to be examined by My Word for the slightest trace of rebellion.

Once all of that is complete, you would probably begin to enjoy all the relationships that I have placed in your life to the fullest. You would love more, forgive more quickly, and serve everyone better, telling those who do not know Jesus of the wonder of His love. Each day would be an opportunity to smell the fragrance of the air, bask in the warmth of the sun, and walk in the wonder of My creation. Family would be more important than work. You would take the time to embrace the heart of your children, and fully appreciate the love of your life; ignoring the small stuff and reveling in the beautiful traits that won your heart in the first place. You would remember all the good times, and forget all of the challenges.

Life, love, and laughter would become important once again. My child, these are the closing moments of time as I see them. Even if there were many years of My calendar left, how many more heartbeats do you have? I would suggest that you get on with it! I love you.”

“Life” usually gets in the way of the really important stuff. Most of our days are spent doing what is necessary, fulfilling what is planned, and handling everything urgent so the pattern can be repeated tomorrow. We head for rest times exhausted, and emerge from them with little refreshment, falling back into the well-worn path of daily living with sighs of submission.

I have had the privilege of talking with people in their golden years, often hearing words of regret expressed when reflecting on their lives. Most wish that they had enjoyed and embraced each day with the wonder that it really is, rather than letting it pass, waiting for a better one to come.

Today is very special, no matter what it presents to you. You have the incredible privilege of walking through it with your Lord, and those whom He has placed in it with you. Honor Him, and love them with His love. Let no fear, bitterness, anger, or hate spoil another moment of the time that the Lord has given you. In the light of eternity, the times wasted on anything other than love and serving Him mean nothing. You and I have the very breath of the Lord in us. Let’s use every one of them to glorify His Name.

“As the world grows darker, My people will shine brighter because of the love they have for Me, each other, and their enemies. This love has already been established in the heavenlies, and is about to be poured out in its fullness upon My people. Holy alliances will be made one with another. Kinsman friendships will be established that cannot be intruded upon by the vile jestings and coarse intrusions that are part of those who do not know Me. I call you to separate yourselves; but in that separation, I am also calling you, My children, to come together.

Some of you know the bond of adversity, some know the bond of fleshly desire and adoration, some know the safety of a kindred spirit; but no one has known the heavenly bond of the holy alliance that will knit My bride together for My work to be done and for Me to pour My love upon them. Establish it in your hearts now. Those I call to Myself will know Me and each other with the love My Father and I have had from the beginning. Make no provision for the flesh in any relationships I bring your way. In My way, there’s safety, power, freedom, and love.”

Isn’t it interesting to watch God establish relationships? If you haven’t given it much thought, just know that this is one more area that works out best when put in His hands. He has a purpose for every relationship, and He has reasons for not wanting others established.

When I go about the business of establishing any relationship on my own, more than likely for selfish reasons, I should not be surprised when it doesn’t work out. If God, however, brings someone into my life and it is not working, more than likely my heart is not right. I want my way, my desires, not His.

Periodically, I find myself wanting to befriend someone, but it just doesn’t fall together. It is then that I need to remind myself that if it is God-ordained, He will bring that friendship into existence. He will make all of the necessary adjustments, heart modifications, and motive refinements to allow all things to fall in line. He will orchestrate and finalize any other aspects of personality to smooth out the rough spots that stand in the way. He sees the total picture. He knows the beginning and the end, the reasons and the consequences. We don’t.

In the coming seasons, it will become increasingly important that God is really in charge. We will need to be able to trust the people within our sphere of friendships. There will be times that lives will depend on the ability to do so. At that time, whom would you like to have established the relationships in your life?

“Adjust your timetables to fall in line with Mine and you will be free. Your struggles, your worries, and your concerns do not have a place in the life I have chosen for you. Think on this. I am God – the One True God. I have all power, power far beyond your most intense imagination. You are My child through your acceptance of My Son, Jesus, and what He has done for you. Because of that, My life would freely flow to you if you would choose to accept it. That would mean that nothing could harm the eternal you. You could be free from all strife and worry simply by trusting that I care enough to take care of you.

Your life is not free only because you hinder Me. Satan is defeated. There is no hold over your life to stop you from receiving My presence. Why do you choose to believe the lies of the world that bind and condemn you instead of My Word that eternally works in you to set you free? I love you. Choose to receive Me and My Word and you will be free.”

So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free.

And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it].


I love the term “glory-strength” in the verse above. The idea of the Creator of the Universe imparting anything to us is enough for me to walk around smiling for a long time. When I begin to really accept the idea that He has covenanted to impart whatever is needed in my direction whenever He sees the need to do so, it sets me free.

I often wonder how I would appear to those around me if I really grasped who I am in Christ, how much I am loved, and the amount of power flowing my way to accomplish the will of the Lord in my life. For starters, I’m sure people would wonder why I’m grinning all the time.

Everyone would have to admire – or at least wonder about - a spirit that is always full of joy, immovable in its identity no matter what trials ensue, and overflowing with love toward everyone – all the time. I would imagine that such understanding would allow everyone to flow in such freedom that nothing would be able to rob them of who they really are in Christ - ever.

Let’s do something! Let’s take this day to focus on even one aspect of who we really are in Christ. Let’s ask the Lord to remind us of even a single promise that He has said is ours from His Word. When our minds begin to stray from that promise, let’s pull that promise back into focus and receive it again as ours - which it really is. As we do this, when we receive it - I mean really receive it as ours - let’s smile.

Let’s take another promise tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. Maybe we can all begin to have true “glory strength” flowing from us to others as the Word changes us.
