“You need to resolve with whom you spend your time. Find out who is really seeking My heart. Who is implementing My work with the heart of Jesus? Who is hearing the call to holiness? Who is serving others? Run away from those who choose to remain in dead, religious activity. You need to fellowship with those who are seeking My heart with all of their hearts. My heart is to spend all that you possess for the good of others that I send to you. It is what I do. It is what Jesus does. He spent His life for those who hated Him and used Him, knowing that one day some of them would realize their need of Him. Why would you think that any other posture for your life pleases Me?”

Exodus 17:12 AMP

But Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So [the other men] took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

Esther 4:13-14 AMP

13Then Mordecai told them to return this answer to Esther. Do not flatter yourself that you shall escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.

14For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion?

Matthew 19:21 NIV

Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.”

Matthew 26:53-54 NIV

53“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Mark 1:40-41 NIV

40A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

41Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.

An investment in people is really a foreign concept in this world of throw-away relationships. It is, however, the foundation for all of our belief. Since the garden of Eden, Father God has invested in His people. He loves, guides, protects, and nourishes anyone who comes to Him with an open heart.

The words “Jesus spent His life for those who hated Him and used Him, knowing that one day some of them would realize their need of Him” should be foundational for our lives. How foolish we are to think that our Father does not notice that we have violated the very principles that He holds dear to His heart and uses as examples of how we are to live our lives properly.

In our foolishness, we go about our religious business thinking that we are pleasing God by throwing scraps of love, time, or resources at others - when and if we are moved to do so. How He must grieve when we take so much from Him for ourselves and give so little of it to those He loves, especially when He intends for us to focus what He’s given on those around us. We assume that His gifts to us – no matter what form - are ours to keep, instead of asking what portion of them we are allowed to apply to ourselves so that the rest can be used to build His kingdom in the Name of Jesus.

I am convinced that when we begin to serve others before ourselves, our Lord will trust us to be in association with others whom He also trusts. As these reliable associations are made, it stands to reason that He will be free to place higher responsibility with us, using us together to accomplish much in His Name.

Show me how to live for the best interests of others, Lord,

12/30/14

“How trustworthy are you? At what price do you feel that you would deny Me? When would you deny My Word? Never, you say! You are doing it every day! Each time you place your own interests above Mine, you are opposing My Word. Stop and think of that truth. I have called you to be like Jesus in your world. He lived a life of sacrifice and service, owning nothing for Himself, and caring only for others. He gave up everything, so that you could be at peace eternally. Caring nothing about His own well-being, He hung on a cross so that you could be forgiven. Even though He was part of your creation process, He gave up total control of His life, so that you could learn obedience.

That is the kind of attitude that I desire to be in you. You daily deny Me simply by attempting to be in control of your life in any way. It is the opposite of the character of Jesus. Why would your remaining in control of any area of your life not be a denial of My Word? I know that you don’t see it that way, but it is one of the main reasons that I can’t trust you. It is the very basis for all My dealings with sin. It is called rebellion.

You need to turn from the ownership of your life and surrender fully to the understanding that you have been purchased at a very great price. You no longer own your life and anything that is associated with it. You need to consider obedience to My will to be your only reason for living. Surrender fully to Me now. Repent of your rebellion. Submit totally to My will. Become trustworthy, so that We can walk closely together. I desire to tell you the intimacies of My heart. I am waiting!”

1 John 2:6 AMP

Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

1 Cor. 6:19b-20a NIV

19b…You are not your own;

20ayou were bought at a price…

Surrendering fully to the Lord is Christianity 101. Those of us who have walked with the Lord for many years sometimes feel that we have this walk pretty well figured out. In reality, most of us haven’t even left the starting gate.

Let’s say that we finally allow the Lord to work in our lives to the point that we learn obedience. Carrying that thought even further, let’s graduate to total obedience, understanding that our obedience is required if we are to be in line with God’s Word. Pretty cool, huh!

In reality, if we are obedient only because it is required, we are not even close to the heart of Jesus. Our obedience is still implemented so that things will go well with us. We will benefit from our obedience.

Jesus was obedient so that His Father would be glorified; and so that others would benefit, even at a great loss to Himself. He had given the ownership of His passions, desires, and every element of His life so completely, that even the remotest possibility of being disobedient was a horrible, unthinkable prospect. To do so would have harmed His Father and each of us. He would rather have died than have that happen. Oh, yeah! He did die instead of being disobedient, didn’t He?

12/29/14

“Deception has become so commonplace that few of My people even anguish over it anymore. The line of holiness has been moved by those who do not pursue holiness. Standards that I have not set have become the guidelines for behavior, even in My church. No one grieves over sin. My people care little about those who have no idea of My perfect will for their lives.

So many have been allowed to go their own way because My people fail to show them Jesus through the way that they live in their midst. When there is no visible evidence of real truth, the foolish make up their own truth from deceiving influences. How sad it makes Me to see My creation become blinded, lame, and stumbling in folly.”

Hebrews 12:12-13 TLB

12So take a new grip with your tired hands, stand firm on your shaky legs,

13and mark out a straight, smooth path for your feet so that those who follow you, though weak and lame, will not fall and hurt themselves, but become strong.

When I was a kid, one of the other kids in my neighborhood took great joy in getting everyone else in trouble. He was about two years older than the rest of us, so naturally we all followed him wherever he decided to take us. The tone of our lives was directly affected by what he did, how he felt, and whether or not you were his friend at any given time. I remember that it was very important to be his friend. If you were, somehow, you were more important than the others. The problem was, he accepted and discarded “friends” on a whim, accepting another into his fold. Each of us took turns in his favor. This caused continual disharmony. No one was able to have peace, as we were all pitted against one another many times at his bidding. He would then sit back and enjoy the strife that he had caused. (I hate to say this, but he became a lawyer when he grew up.)

I remember one day, for some reason, we all woke up. Somehow, within about a week, we all realized that he was really a friend to none of us. His actions were exposed and we all quit playing his game. Soon afterwards, he found people outside of our neighborhood to influence. He was old enough by then to leave our little circle, so he went on to others, no doubt following the same pattern with them. When he left, peace prevailed.

The above Father’s Heart and the Bible verses remind my heart of the importance of influence. We, as Christians, have been given the joy of truth. We have also been given the authority to lead anyone who will come to the saving grace of Jesus. Our mission is clear, and our influence is important to the world.

The problem is that we are not really leading, and few are following us. Because we have ourselves rejected the passions and desires of our Lord, few can see the wonder of His love and come with us. Our direction is unclear and without authority. People are gladly following someone who does have a clear direction and a passion for what they do, even if it is wrong.

So here we are. God has called us to be the strong influence in the world. We are called to make straight paths for people to follow, protecting them from harm as they go about their lives. Instead, most of them follow any big kid in the neighborhood who will take great joy in leading them to a path of strife and bondage. How pitiful! One day everyone will wake up to a truthful account of their lives, but more than likely it will be too late.

Needing to follow closer to Jesus, so that I can lead others to truth,

“The outcome of your life really depends on the decisions you make now. I know that sounds simplistic to you, but it is more important than you know. You have choices to make regarding what Jesus has provided for you at the cross. You can walk in the power of My life through Jesus or choose not to enter into My presence, where I long to give you Who I am for what you need./p>

Each choice is very much like that. If you understand that I mean what I say, if you believe that what Jesus has provided for you is as effective as it was the day He rose from the dead, if you accept the fact that you are fully accepted by Me and use every opportunity We have provided for you, your life will be far more significant than if you wallow in unbelief and stand on the sidelines of My plans..”

Jeremiah 15:19-20 AMP

19Therefore thus says the Lord [to Jeremiah]: if you return [and give up this mistaken tone of distrust and despair], then I will give you again a settled place of quiet and safety, and you will be My minister; and if you separate the precious from the vile [cleansing your own heart from unworthy and unwarranted suspicions concerning God’s faithfulness], you shall be My mouthpiece. [But do not yield to them.] Let them return to you – not you to the people.]

20And I will make you to this people a fortified, bronze wall; they will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you to save and deliver you, says the Lord.

Amos 3:3 KJV

“Can two walk together except they be agreed?”

Matthew 10:29-31 NIV

29“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

30And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered.

31So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Matthew 25:23 NIV

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!’”

Can you imagine the audacity of not believing God? Can you imagine not taking Him at His Word and in essence calling Him a liar? That’s what we are actually doing each time we don’t go to Him because we don’t believe we have a right to or don’t trust that He will take care of us when He said that He would. We are so foolish and so blinded by our fears and lack of faith. Still He keeps on loving us and loving us through our unbelief.

Thank You for Your patience, Lord,

12/26/14

“How are you preparing your house so that it is in order? What kind of training are you participating in to become a leader in the future activities of My design? What are you teaching your neighbors and your children by your style of living? There are three postures that My church has taken in these dangerous times and seasons. Some have chosen to continue in the false hope that everything in their selfish world will remain the same. They have made the decision to not prepare themselves for what is ahead, and rely on others to determine their belief system. Foolishly going about their puny lives, they push aside conviction of sin, refuse to address issues in their lives that are out of order; and separate themselves from anyone who is seeking holiness. They are useless to My cause and have been nullified from My plan to save those around them.

Others have observed the seasons, have chosen to seek Me because of fear; and are preparing their places of safety. They are oblivious to My heart and will not enter into My chambers to receive instruction for the times ahead. These dry souls will fail Me at the first sign of danger and distract My people because of their own needs. I am sad for their wasted lives.

You, My children, have sought My heart and have embraced the training that I have sent your way. You have seen that the only place to be is in My presence to receive what is needed to rise above all that is about to occur. I am teaching your hearts to run to every need with which I am concerned, bathed in My presence and basking in the light of My glory. I am delighted with you. I will use you to bring those who will hear into My kingdom. You will be harvesters in the ripe fields that are all around you. You will prosper as I see prosperity, defending My Word and My Spirit before those who are oblivious to the truth. You are My holy, prepared people. I am with you as you rush, fully equipped, to the needs I present to you.”

Eph. 4:22-24 NIV

22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

23to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Merry and I once had the sad opportunity to observe a couple who chose not to address some sin issues in their lives. More than likely this was not the first time they had the opportunity to be washed from their chosen folly. It was pitiful to watch them tap-dance around the issues presented with well-rehearsed and practiced denial of any wrong-doing when challenged. Instead of embracing the opportunity to repent of their sin, they pointed an accusing finger toward others and wallowed one more time in the same sin with which they were presently being confronted, right before our eyes. It was really slick to watch, but horrible to see, as they refused any accountability for their harmful actions.

They had probably refused accountability so often that their hearts were hardened to any kind of counsel, because the Lord had us back off from further discussion of the matter with them. We are afraid that the Lord may have since chosen to turn them over to their sin because of their refusal to respond to His prompting once more. It is frightening to observe and more frightening to understand that they did not fool God. He is relentless against harbored sin in the lives of His children.

Christians are being given the opportunity to make proper life choices each and every day. God is weeding out those who refuse to be washed in the cleansing fire of His love from those who are really His with all of their hearts. He is separating those whom He will be able to trust with His anointing from those who have cast off His convicting presence to embrace worldly folly and familiar sin for a season. Anyone who consistently denies God’s opportunities to repent is truly a fool, and fools will never have the privilege of flowing in the presence and power of God.

Remove all foolishness from my heart, Lord,

“Have you ever wondered why the battle sometimes takes longer than you would like? From My perspective, battles in any form accomplish much. They define motives, strengthen resolve, and determine alliances. Often they bring heart issues to the forefront and create platforms for deep-rooted angers to express themselves. In most cases, the hardships that create seemingly endless difficulties in a person’s life are the very stepping stones to holiness. I watch every situation in which you find yourself. I examine all aspects of each encounter and make sure that everything purposed for that situation is accomplished.

As you grow in Me, you will realize that I really am in total control of all situations. My will is ultimately accomplished. Once that is fully ingrained in you, your battles become opportunities for you to rest in Me, while the battle rages all around you. While all forces are working to accomplish My will, you and I can rise above the clatter and enjoy each other. I will impart more of Myself to you because of your need of Me and your submission to Me.

I would like you to remember some of the “impossible” times in your past. What was the main outcome of each one? It was a deeper commitment on your part, and a closer relationship with Me. If that didn’t happen, you missed an incredible opportunity. You missed the privilege of allowing Me to fight on your behalf. The next time a battle of any sort arises in your life, use it as an opportunity to spend time with Me, rather than engaging in it yourself. You will find that the benefits of the situation far outweigh the hazards, no matter how difficult they might seem. When I become the reward for anything you do, you are greatly increased in more ways than you will ever know. Come to Me in all seasons of your life. I am always there for you.”

Joshua 5:13-15 AMP

13When Joshua was by Jericho, he looked up, and behold, a Man stood near him with His drawn sword in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, Are you for us or for our adversaries?

14And He said, No [neither], but as Prince of the Lord’s host have I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, What says my Lord to His servant?

15And the Prince of the Lord’s host said to Joshua, Loose your shoes from off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.”

Psalm 46:1-2a AMP

1God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

2aTherefore we will not fear…

The above verses in Joshua have taught me as much about our relationship with God as any other verses in the Bible. Joshua was ready to engage in a battle that the Lord had ordained for him. All of a sudden, a mighty warrior was standing before him. The logical question was asked of the warrior, but a “not so logical and quite frightening” answer was given. “Whose side are you on?” made a lot of sense. “Neither” must have made Joshua’s heart skip a few beats until he heard the rest of the statement.

What makes me so excited was the whole scenario that was being played out. It is so simple when observed from a relationship perspective.

Joshua was entering into a battle that the Lord was going to win for him. The Prince of the armies was there to oversee everything. He didn’t take any side but the Lord’s, because the physical armies were only playing out the Lord’s will. All Joshua was really required and invited to do was to understand that the Lord was present, which made the very ground that he stood on holy; and therefore, worship of the victor was in order. The battle was relatively inconsequential; the outcome was predictable. The posture for Joshua was to get out of the way. “Come with Me while the work is being done. It is My battle.”

We all know how the battle was won - not by their power, nor their might, but by the Spirit of the Lord, God Almighty! What fun!!!

“Most of you, My children, are afraid to need Me. You fortify your lives with support systems. You build back-up schemes, devise measures to remain safe, and implement plans to make sure you have the means for tomorrow in case it rains. You do not realize that you are building a house of cards. Nothing you are relying on will remain.

Little of what you are building has eternal value. Little of what you spend your time fretting about has My heart in it. In this closing season of time, My presence is in the midst of those who desperately need Me. My power is with you when you are helpless. I will never be only one of your many answers. I am your only answer!”

Psalm 20:6-7 AMP

6Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

7Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 46:1 AMP

God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

Isaiah 31:1 AMP

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who rely on horses and trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek and consult the Lord!

There is only one God. He is the One and Only God. All other gods can never be trusted to take His place, no matter how powerful they may appear to be.

“Few of you really understand the plans that I have for you. Many of you read My Word in an attempt to pattern yourselves after the heroes of the faith. You examine their lives, dissecting them to find the pieces that you feel comfortable enough to emulate. You will never find proper direction until you realize that difficult times require a hero’s heart. The times in which they lived demanded hard choices and selfless decisions. My warriors were ordinary people just like you, but they were valiant in their approach to the call that I had on their lives. I don’t see that same heart in most of My church today.

You are on the brink of major changes in your world. You know that the culmination of My plans is fast approaching. You see the times and seasons in which you live. Still, you have not made the heart decision to become a real player in the unfolding drama. You still consider your life, your finances, and your time to be your own. You have this hope that what you are seeing is not really happening. You are preparing for a time when things will return to normal. Your world will never be as it once was. You must finally accept that, and plan your life accordingly.

Stop padding your personal portfolio. Draw a line in the sand of your life, and cross over to My side. Ask Me for a hero’s heart. Require of Me what is needed to equip you to represent Me properly. Pursue the kind of faith that allows you to sell out completely to My plans. The time is fast approaching when you will need to walk free from fear and from the entanglements of selfishness. You will be required to hold nothing as your own. Practice that now. Take on My heart motives as your own.

Do an about face from your personal plans and begin to walk with My motives for your life. Plan on being My new heroes. Equip others who have begun to move with Me until you can do so yourself. Plan on being a hero to those who will spend eternity with Me because of your representing Jesus to them.”

Hebrews 10:32-36 NIV

32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.

33Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated.

34You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions.

35So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Being in a ministry that observes the plans of God and encourages others to participate fully in those plans, I have seen many people stop short of the fullness of their calling. It is painful to observe someone on the brink of fully appreciating the reason he was born and the plan for his life; and then watch helplessly as he turns away because the cost is too high. Most people take on a posture of doing many “good” things in an attempt to make up for the emptiness that is in their hearts from knowing what they have done.

At this very moment, the signs are all around us that our world is changing. Who we once were as a great nation is long past. What we are to become is all part of the end-time plan of God.

What amazes me is how few people are really acting as if they have consciously considered the times in which we live. It is almost as if they do not want to acknowledge what is happening. We have become a church with white knuckles from holding on to the treasures that hold our hearts. Most of us will not even attempt to press into the plan for our lives. The price seems to be much too high to go all the way, even when God is calling us to do so.

I am reminded of the horrible scenes in movies taking place during the beginning stages of the Holocaust in Germany. Gallant people, who without knowing it were on their way to the gas chambers, feverishly packed their meager belongings and personal treasures to take with them, hoping to somehow hold on to the things they loved. They had no way of knowing how valueless those things would become in their near future. I can’t begin to understand the fear they must have been going through, so I won’t begin to claim that I would do anything differently.

The point I believe I’m supposed to make is how fast value that is placed on the things of this world can change. What is deemed as most important can become worthless in a matter of moments. Still we, being on the very threshold of possibly the most important time in history, are positioning our hearts for better times coming in the future, hoping that things will soon be back to normal. We are holding on to our treasures, treasures in each of us that Jesus spent His life for, and which are ordained for the work of God in these perilous times. It is as if we are looking and listening to what the Lord is saying, but not seeing and hearing what He is telling us. We do not even consider going to the Lord and asking for a spiritual hero’s heart, a heart like Jesus’, that will guide us properly during the challenges ahead.

Make no mistake. Investments in this world could overnight have little value. Investments in the desires of our Father God, however, will reap untold eternal harvests from the ripe fields around each of us.

Wanting to have the heart of God’s kind of hero,

Jim Corbett

“If I were to take all hope from you, how would you fare? You would be left in dismal surroundings with nothing to look forward to. You see, I could never do that. It is against My nature as your Father. It is against My Word for you. Sending Jesus alone is hope beyond measure. What He has done in the heavenlies has brought hope to you. What He is continually doing makes a bright future for you.

Look around. You have much for which to be thankful. You have a hope. You have a wonderful future, no matter what you might be facing at present. Place all that you are and all that you desire in My hands. They are hands of hope.”

2 Samuel 14:14b NIV

“But God does not take away life; instead he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

There is no one with a brighter future and more hope than a servant of the Lord. Submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ piles on reward after reward to our lives and gives us a destiny that cannot be matched by all the treasures the world has to offer.

Our future is bright. Our destiny is assured. Our life paths can be straight and our eternity is full of hope. We are truly blessed because of what Jesus has done for us and because of the love of our heavenly Father.

As the Father reveals all aspects of His heart, sometimes I reel with the overwhelming challenge that I am called to face. I begin to condemn myself for who I am not, cower at the prospects ahead of me as a Christian in the coming times, stagger at the weight of my responsibility to represent Jesus properly; and become discouraged as I attempt to prepare for His return. It is then that I remember that none of this was my idea in the first place. My Father has ordained my life and has promised to fulfill His plan for it and in it. My job is simply to need Him desperately.

Remind me to keep my eyes on You, Lord,

“It’s time to enter into the prosperous life that I have provided for you. Become engaged fully in My kind of existence, rather than flirting with the ways of the world. You no longer belong there. If you attempt to live in both worlds, you will eventually find yourself gasping for life and wondering why you have little peace and no power to overcome.

Start by remembering what was accomplished on the cross. Study the power of the blood. Observe once again those who have gone before you. Examine who you really are. How far are you living from who you know you were meant to be? Stir up the gifts that you know are part of your life. Shake off anything that hinders you from selling out to My Word completely. Renounce your sins. Embrace a crucified life. Go for it.

In your prayer times, allow Me to show those things that are hindering you from becoming all that you have been born to be. Stop listening to the lies of the enemy that remind you of your weaknesses and failures. Listen to My Word. I know who you are because you are in Christ. I understand the power that has been placed in your inner being. I understand My covenant promises to you. Nothing is more powerful than My presence. My Spirit now resides in you. You can rise above anything and are capable of any task because of My presence within you.

Why would you settle for a mediocre life when I have a victorious life available to you because of Jesus? Be strong in the power of My might! Stop wallowing in a life that is less than you have been appointed to be. I can’t wait to show you who you really are! You have everything you need to fulfill your calling, if you will only surrender fully to Me. Do it now. Enter into the joy of the Lord!”

Joshua 1:8 NIV

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Phil. 4:13 AMP

I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].

Heb. 12:1-2 AMP

1THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.

2Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

III John 2 AMP

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.

We really have this life backwards. Our thinking is directly opposed to the thinking of our Lord. What we call prosperity is light years from its biblical definition. Still, somehow, it never sinks into the block between our shoulders that it would be wise to consider the Lord’s definitions, including prosperity, as our guidelines for life. They might make us truly prosperous.

I remember a season in my life before I came to the Lord. I was so doped up, full of lusts and booze, that I couldn’t think straight. My confusion was apparent by the extremely ignorant decisions that I made. At the time, though, I thought I had it all together. Everything I did seemed logical and actually quite wise in my blinded eyes. After my head was cleared by the Lord, I could see how far my life was from any semblance of reason. I couldn’t believe how far I had migrated from the straight road./p>

That is the way the Lord must see us when we minimize the wonders done for us and in us because of Jesus. Our desires to remain anywhere near our old life must look so foolish to Him. From His perspective, knowing what is available to us, our carnal decisions and desires must appear as foggy thinking. No wonder He is continually goading us to draw closer to Him to receive His kind of wealth.

Turn my heart toward home, Lord,

“I want you to include the words “no matter what” in your every thought of Me. It delights My heart to tell you that: I will forever love you, no matter what. I will always be there for you, no matter what. I am sovereign and able to overcome, no matter what. I empower you to say: I will serve You, Lord, no matter what. I will praise You, Lord, no matter what. I will trust You, Lord, no matter what. It is for the “no matter whats” that Jesus shed His blood. It is through His risen power that you have the ability to say: “Jesus is the only Lord! No matter what!”

Matthew 26: 53-54 NIV

53“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Rom. 10:9-11 NIV

9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

11As the Scripture says, “Everyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

Hebrews 13:5 AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

The perfect antidote for the foolish celebrations that the world holds dear is to reflect on the glory of God and His faithfulness. He was faithful to bring us to Jesus. He is faithful to hold us close continually. Jesus our Lord is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He is the Lord of everything. By the Holy Spirit, we can adore the one true living God, the God Who overcomes all darkness.

You are a precious child of God. Jesus is your friend. The Holy Spirit is your guide. You are in an unbreakable covenant, designed so that the living God promises His very life on your behalf. Be at peace this day. Jesus is Lord - no matter what!

I am very grateful, Lord!

“Most of My church is not understanding the flow of My anointing in their midst. I am using the submitted lives of their brothers and sisters in Christ to allow them to open their eyes and make proper choices. I flow more in how someone lives than in what they say. Often I flow through those who seem to have nothing, but who really have the greatest gift one can have - absolute dependence on Me. Sometimes I flow through the benevolence of those to whom I have given great resources to share with those who speak truth from Me. Other times I flow in a warm hug, a pleasing smile, or an understanding ear.

Too often those who have little discernment mistake charisma for an anointing, wasting My time and resources on emotional, ear-tickling appeals and self-serving presentations. Soon every teaching, except for the ones that flow from My presence through lives lived to honor Me, will be considered the empty, clanging cymbals that they really are.

You, My remnant in training, hold fast to what you are becoming. You keep on surrendering to Me with all your heart, especially during those more difficult refining times. You keep on cherishing those things that I am teaching you to cherish. Others may consider the deep, inner work that I am doing in you to be of little consequence, because their eyes can only see through their own bankruptcy. You be assured that I am building true wealth in you because of your submission to the trials placed before you.

Soon you will provide for many because you will be trusted with My full anointing, one that holds the full presence of My might. Together you will be a mighty wave flowing with Me, accomplishing My will, because you have been refined in the fire of My hand upon you. I love you.”

Jeremiah 2:13 NIV

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

Heb. 13:5b AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

I received this letter from a wealthy saint who is in the refiner’s fire. She is being made into a worthy vessel, capable of carrying the living presence of the Lord to many very soon. I present her life as a testimony to encourage the many of you who are also being refined by the Lord during this time. Be encouraged; you are being prepared for a wedding. Here is a portion of this astounding testimony of submission.

“… I have been living out of my car … There were times where the discouragement tried to beat me down, but God never left my side, and always brought to me what I needed…

… I was ill the past 19 months. In and out of the hospital. Bed ridden for months on end, waiting for help from doctors. During that time, I found, lost, found, and lost places to live. My friends helped when they could, and I was so weak after my last operation that it's taken all the way up to now to be healthy enough to look for a job.”

Lord, please give me eyes to see and appreciate those who are being made wealthy in You,

Jim Corbett.

“You need to desire to be holy. I want you to press in. It is not out of reach. For too many years, those who do not know My heart and those who do not know My Word have lied to each other and to you. They have proclaimed that holiness is unreachable. The cross has given you new life, My kind of life. Jesus has gone before you to show you the life that I would give you after His work was completed. Do you think that I would waste His life and settle for mediocre results for such a great price?

Stop listening to lies. Dig in. Go for it with Me. I will show you what I have provided for you in My Word. I will implement holiness in you if you fully surrender to Jesus. Together We will honor the wonderful work that has been accomplished for you from the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, through the cross, past the grave, and beyond His resurrection. His great work provides all that is needed for you to become all that I have planned for you.”

Romans 12:1 NIV

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God…

1 Cor. 1:2 NIV

To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified to Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ - their Lord and ours.

Hebrews 10:14 NIV

…because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV

15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.

So many times we forget what has been provided for us at the cross of Jesus Christ. Often we really don’t care. The things of this life so consume us that the things of God often take second place or are completely ignored.

Father God has planned a wonderful life for those who have given their lives to Jesus and choose to serve Him fully. He has wondrous things in store for us, if we would only seek Him and find His desires for our lives.

“Bless someone today! Make an act of kindness to someone My priority for you today. Be led from your heart, but wait for Me to tell you whom you are to bless. You may be surprised to whom I call you to show My love. Be ready!”

Rom. 12:9-21 NIV

9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

11Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

13Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.

18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

20On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

To do what the Father’s Heart is suggesting means that I must take my eyes off myself and even off the tasks that are my priority today. I am to seek Him as to the person I am supposed to bless. It should be the priority of my day. Then again, it should be the priority of every day if I truly follow Jesus.

If I forget to intentionally bless someone, if my blessing is an inconvenience or costs me nothing, or if I refuse to bless the one that the Lord chooses for me, it will reveal pretty much about my priorities and my obedience level, won’t it? If the idea of blessing someone else is new to me, it sure reveals my heart and the depth of my walk with the Lord.

Show me who and how, Lord,

“Your life, if lived for Jesus, brings glory to Me. That you know! What you may not know is that it testifies of His life, death, and resurrection for all future eternities. You will always and forever be an example of His completed work. When you surrender to Him, you are doing much more than securing your salvation; you are part of a never ending testimony of eternal witnesses to the power of the cross. Your witness also shows Who I am.”

Ephesians 3:10-12 AMP

10[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

11This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord.

12In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

As precious as you are to God, all of this is not only about you. It is also about the eternal plans of God and their impact on heavenly beings.

When the angelic beings fell, they were given no mercy. They were cast from the presence of God, experiencing firsthand His boundless power and authority.

At present, some of those who remain with Him can only lie prostrate before Him crying “Holy, Holy, Holy,” because He is so magnificent. Others, especially those who were cast from His presence, to this day understand His power and authority. To them, He is undeniably “Almighty God.”

Enter puny mankind! Limited to functioning within the five senses, frail in comparison to even the lowest order of angel, incredibly ignorant concerning spiritual things, and so on and so on - you get the picture…

Since the cross, when the veil before the Holy of Holies was ripped in two, puny mankind - who previous to this time was truly on the outside looking in - has the kind of access to God that the angelic creation will never have. We can now come directly into the presence of God anytime we desire to go there and are accepted as if Jesus Himself entered. (Stop and ponder that, and then ask yourself why in the world we don’t spend the majority of our time in His presence. That is how limited and puny our thinking is! Of course, the Lord did say that His thoughts and ours are two different things, and this example certainly proves it. We settle for so little, and it must grieve the heart of God how often we miss what He’s made available.)

Because of the covenant that Jesus established, we go into the presence of God in His Name, not our own. God accepts us just as He would accept Jesus because we were “in” Jesus when covenant was made. After Jesus died, we were the full recipients of His kind of access to the Father.

To the angels, God providing this access for us was only one of the many facets of God that they had never seen. Each time He flows His wondrous privileges toward us, they see other facets about Him in which they are not allowed to participate.

Help me to never minimize the wonder of Your cross, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“My children, you need to check your allegiance. Make sure that you have not become hired hands rather than the bond servants you once were. I need to trust you. If I should remove your “wages,” would you lose faith in all of My promises? Would you call Me “unfaithful” and turn to your own resources for your provision, if I tarried in My responses to your petitions? A fickle heart will cause you, and those around you, to wander wide-eyed and drooling when times become extremely difficult.

Instead of being a reliable guide for those who need to see My dependability when they have no answers of their own, you will also falter. Turn back to the simple trust of first love. Determine in your heart that you are with Me fully, no matter what the world around you turns to.

I am waiting for true, steadfast bond servants. Hired hands will seek other sources for comfort if my “payment” does not suit them. Do not become that kind of fool.”

Isaiah 8:11-14 AMP

11For the Lord spoke thus to me with His strong hand [upon me], and warned and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

12Do not call conspiracy [or hard, or holy] all that this people will call conspiracy [or hard, or holy]; neither be in fear of what they fear, nor [make others afraid and] in dread.

13The Lord of hosts – regard Him as holy and honor His holy name [by regarding Him as your only hope of safety], and let Him be your fear and let Him be your dread [lest you offend Him by your fear of man and distrust of Him].

14And He shall be a sanctuary [a sacred and indestructible asylum to those who reverently fear and trust in Him;...

John 10:11-13 AMP

11I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep.

12But the hired servant (he who merely serves for wages) who is neither the shepherd nor the owner of the sheep, when he sees the wolf coming, deserts the flock and runs away. And the wolf chases and snatches them and scatters [the flock].

13Now the hireling flees because he merely serves for wages and is not himself concerned about the sheep [cares nothing for them].

A hired hand works for someone who pays the highest wage, and serves with limited allegiance. He is reliable to the one who pays him as long as his wages are paid, and he is required to only work within the limits of his work contract. At any given opportunity, he accepts higher offers, more suitable work, or easier working conditions.

A bond servant, on the other hand, has chosen absolute servanthood to his master, no matter what is required of him. His motivation for service is love - not the amount of wage, working conditions, or difficulty of the task. There are no options to his commitment. There is no price too high to pay. His term of service is eternal, his commitment unwavering, his trustworthiness absolute.

Without knowing it, it is easy to slip into the “hired hand” mentality with God. The simple act of taking over when God’s answers are delayed, or doing it ourselves when He seems to have waited too long to do something we need, all deny the bond servant’s heart of absolute faith and trust in our Lord.

Forgive me for acting like a hired hand so often, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Do you really understand the covenant that My Son and I have made with you and for you? My covenant with you has little to do with keeping you healthy, wealthy, and out of harm’s way, as some false prophets claim. My Son did go to the cross. Paul did spend most of his ministry years in prison. Countless missionaries of Mine did perish. You are no different.

Here is My covenant with you in a nutshell. I have promised to give you all of Myself while you live. I will equip you and fill you with My presence so that you testify of My Son. I have promised to change you, to finish what I have started in you. I have promised to be with you wherever you go, to help you through whatever situation you find yourself in, if you call on Me! You will see miracles when I need miracles to be shown to others. I will then bring you home to spend eternity with Me when your work is completed. You have promised to need Me and submit to Me as best you can.

You must realize that this life with Me is to fulfill My will. Unless you set your mind to be in line with My heart and My Word, you will find yourself confused, and eventually heartbroken. Do I love you? Oh, yes, more than you will ever know! But I also love those who hate both Me and you at present. I desire that they also be with us for eternity. You are My agent to show them My Son, so that they have a chance to embrace Him. If that means that they need to see how He reacts to difficult situations, I will lead you into difficult situations for their sake; because I can trust you there. I have bought you with My Son’s blood.

That is a high price to pay. I will show Him to the world in whatever way that I deem necessary, and I promise to use you to do it. There is much work to be done at present. When it is finished, I will bring you home and We will celebrate.”

John 14:10 AMP

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me? What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives continually in Me does the (His) works (His own miracles, deeds of power).

John 14:12-13 AMP

12I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.

13And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son.

Rom. 11:36 AMP

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him.] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it).

I Cor. 6:19-20 NIV

19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Col. 2:6-7 AMP

6As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him.

7Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

Col. 2:9-10 AMP

9For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].

10And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit— and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

It would be laughable if it weren’t so sad, when I hear some well-known street-corner prophets proclaim a gospel of God serving us rather than one of us serving Him. I have seen so many young believers shipwrecked and discouraged because they came into the true Gospel under that teaching. When that teaching didn’t work - when they weren’t healed, when they couldn’t talk or pray or believe themselves out of a situation - there was no place to go. They felt God had left them.

I once asked the Lord to give me a key teaching that is always safe and in line with His Word. He said, “My true Gospel works everywhere, during any time in history, and in whatever situation you find yourself. It never changes.”

When I thought about it, those words made everything clear; and they’ve protected me numerous times. Prosperity doctrines will not work in impoverished nations or during God’s judgments. “Name it and claim it” doctrines did not work in the arena for the first century Christians, and so on. Any teaching that is limited to a generation, a locality, or a specific time in history has flaws in it, and will cause unnecessary rabbit trails. One by one, I have found that any doctrine preached must work everywhere in any season or it shows the Lord to be partial, when His Word tells us He is no respecter of persons.

The single teaching that seems to stand the test in every situation, every nation, and every generation is the crucified life. The teaching that we are not our own sets us free to be the Lord’s. When we understand that we have been bought with a price and are the Lord’s to use as He pleases, no real harm will ever come to us. We might be broken, shamed, and even killed; but when we have “died” already, who can harm a dead man? Having “crucified” our old nature, with its self-serving ways, we have the freedom to live with Him and for Him. Our lives can freely be a testimony of God’s love to others.

Basking in the joy of His love for us, remembering what lies ahead, we live for the well-being of others and for our Lord. We are free!

Teach me to remember what this life with You is really all about,

“It’s time to take cover in Me. There is a season soon ahead that will confuse the world, and destroy the puny strength of many who trust in themselves and what they have. In the near future, true strength will only be found in your relationship with Me. It will be the only thing that you can rely upon completely. All other relationships will be shown for what they really are.

Many who call you friend this day will turn their backs on you because of Whom you represent. They will hate Me; they will hate My Son for taking away their right to remain in their folly. My truth will cause them to make choices that they have no intention of making. They would rather perish in their false beliefs than embrace the One I require them to embrace to be safe for eternity. Because you represent that truth by serving My Son, you will be blamed for everything that inhibits their destructive agenda. Even though you represent love, you will be accused of hating.

Remember to love deeper during those times. It will bring forth rage from those who really have hate as their motive. That hatred is not really against you; it is against Me. I will be strong for you. I will empower you to love through Me. When everything in your flesh demands satisfaction, I will show My strength of submission. The enemy has no tools to combat someone who freely gives away what others want to steal. Jesus gave away His life. It foiled the power of the enemy then; the same kind of submission to My ways will foil the intentions of your enemies now. Come under the protective power of My kind of love. It will be your place of safety.”

John 10:17-18 NIV

17“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life – only to take it up again.

18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.”

1 John 2:6 AMP

Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

1 John 4:18 NIV

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The man who fears is not made perfect in love.

Any fears that we have come from ownership of some kind. If we claim ownership of our possessions, we are always fearful that they might be taken from us. It is the same with our reputation, position, and even life itself. Whatever we hang on to can be forcefully taken from us. Whatever we willingly give away can never be taken from us. There is no fear of loss, so we are free to love as Jesus did.

Jesus owned nothing. He functioned in perfect love. He gave away His position in heaven to become a servant of those He created. While living with those whom He had created, He counted Himself less than they were, never fought for His reputation, never cared what anyone - other than His Father - thought of Him; and willingly gave His life for the good of others. His love was so perfect that no one could overcome Him. The enemy was soundly defeated because he did not even know how to fight that kind of war.

Satan loves contention, thrives on strife, and wins every battle when the participants demand their rights or claim ownership of anything fought for. The outcome of that kind of battle has no winners except him.

As Christians, we have lost our ability to overcome the moment we walk in any way other than the way that Jesus walked. Soon, battles for position will rage all around us. Wars for rights will be everywhere we go. The world will be full of strife and contentions, demanding control.

During those times, perfect love will be the only safe way to function, if we are to show others the life that Jesus lived. Words, strengths, position, and possessions will all fall away and fail. Perfect love will overcome. It will be God’s place of safety for us.

Needing to learn God’s kind of love,

“Honor My Name! Honor the Name of My Son Jesus. Honor My Holy Spirit. Become an advocate for Who We are and what Jesus has done. Dedicate all your waking moments to furthering My plans and you will have found the secret to a joyous life. The world looks for answers as to why they have been born. You have found it in Jesus. He is the answer!”

John 4:34 NIV

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.”

1 John 2:6 AMP

Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

Merry and I are convinced that perilous times are on the horizon. Biblical times and seasons that parallel the kinds of seasons that are labeled as the “Biblical end times” are unfolding right before our eyes. Soon, the world and most of the unresponsive church will be walking around in a fearful stupor because of the unprecedented anguish that will start to consume them. Only those who heed the call of God that is being heralded now will be prepared for what is ahead.

To live victoriously during these next years, you must renew your relationship with Jesus. You must shake off all of the traditions, dogma, and habits that hinder you from living the full, exuberant life of Jesus in your ordained sphere of influence. Do not be afraid to be different from those who also call themselves Christians. If they are not moving closer to Jesus with a passion as their only reason for breathing, find new friends who are.

When peril comes, most of those who call themselves Christians will “hunker down” in an attempt to be safe; but they’ll be powerless to protect themselves. In a time when the Jesus they have said that they serve is needed most, they will not know how to call on Him or even know who He really is. Therefore, they will hide in fear, thinking that they will find a place of safety. Wherever they go, it will be a tomb for them spiritually speaking.

The only place of safety is to be solely and completely locked up in Jesus Christ, living His passionate life. In times of peril, His overcoming presence will not be with the cowering masses. He will be displayed in all of His radiant glory through those who take the time this very day, perhaps this very moment, to surrender fully to Him and His ways. He will be with those who use their every breath of life for His benefit and the benefit of those who need to see Jesus.

As the Holy Spirit changes you, you will be acquiring the tools you need to not only overcome perilous times, but to prosper during them through the power of the Holy Spirit. You will move in anointed power to represent the Lord.

I choose to honor You, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“When you walk in unbroken fellowship with Me, you will be loathed by those who choose to remain in their sin. People will come against you for no reason. They will belittle you, fabricate lies about you, and berate you every chance they get. You will be known as the ones who are different than everyone else. They will hate your repentant life, calling you weak and foolish. Many will go far out of their way to accuse you of wrong-doing, even when they have no evidence.

Others will invent devious ways to undermine your mission. You will be the topic of much gossip, the brunt of many jokes, and the prime suspect of many false rumors. People will not be able to wait to accuse you of something, anything, so that they have reason to separate themselves from you and continue in their sin. Your very presence will convict them, so they will hate you and not want to be near you. You will have few friends because a limited number of people will desire to talk about Me all the time.

It delights Me that I am the only topic that you feel is worth talking and thinking about each and every minute of your day. Be at peace, even though you feel alone. I am your friend. I will be your neighbor. I will be the one who defends you. You continue to make Me your everything. I will continue to form My Spirit in you.

The time will come when those who do not listen to you now will listen closely to what you have to say. They will long for the confident presence that you bring to their fearful world. They will need what you have. They will no longer laugh; in fact, they will seek you for answers. For now, do not be concerned. Pray for their immaturity. Pray for their souls. I am with you.”

1 Peter 4:14 NIV

If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Few people really understand all aspects of the anointing of God, especially in these days. The work of God is often so watered down by manipulators and carnival barkers that there is much confusion about what it means to be anointed.

In the days of old, when the gnarly–fingered, smelly prophet emerged from his cave with a fresh word from the altar of God, most people hated him. If he stayed in their midst for any length of time, they were convicted of their sin as much by his lifestyle as they were by the words that he said. His caring for or owning nothing of the world convicted them of their blatant worldly desires. His desire to only spend time with God showed how shallow their relationship with God really was, and how far they were from even wanting a deeper relationship.

Jesus walked in an anointing so powerful that the leaders of the day had to kill Him, so that they could continue on with their lifestyle. The fullness of His anointing allowed the plumb line of the Word of God to expose the hearts of everyone with whom He came in contact. The hurting openly expressed their pain. The confused asked questions formerly stifled by tradition. The angry fumed out loud. The repentant dropped and humbled themselves. All of this probably could have been accomplished from a distance, but God decided that mankind needed to be faced up-close and personal. Jesus was God brought to earth. Having all the character of God within Him, He stood on the dusty land and allowed His anointing to expose every heart and accomplish every needed task. Having met Him, people could no longer cloak who they really were. They were forced to make a decision, expose a sin, or express a cry for help, simply because he was in their midst.

If you have sold out to God, the fragrance of the Lord is always with you. If your favorite place is at the feet of Jesus, plan on most everyone attempting to dim the glory of the Lord from your countenance at every turn. If you have determined to sell out to the Lord, no matter what the cost, you can be assured that your life will be the focus of those who choose to remain in their sin. You will not be liked, except by those who are hungry for the Lord themselves.

Be at peace, however, the Lord will be your best friend. No amount of acceptance by the world, the cold, dead church, the self-appointed prophets, or the self-proclaimed judges of your life could ever replace one single moment of the presence of the Lord.

You are the one who is following in the footsteps of those who have gone before you under the power of the Lord. You are the one who has heard the heart of your Father in heaven. You are the one who is pleasing in His sight. You be blessed; you will soon be a blessing to many who will need what you have received from your Lord because you have often run out of your own strength and have desperately needed Him. They will need what you have been given, when they run out of their own strength and religious activity.

Wanting only to please my Lord,

“Settle it in your heart that nothing can stop Me from working on your behalf. I have invested the life of My Son in you. I have bought you with My heart. I have called you My very own. Too much has been invested in you to allow you to go unnoticed. You are now part of Me. Never believe the lie that I am not concerned for you or that I will in any way forsake you. It is impossible for Me to turn from you. You have My Word on it!”

2 Samuel 14:14b NIV

“But God does not take away life; instead he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

Hebrews 13:5b AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

Once we settle our hearts to trust the Word of God, we will find the heart of God. His heart is always for those who have given their lives to Jesus. His heart is always for those who admit their need of Him. His heart is always for those who come to Him with their hearts. He wishes that none should remain without His love. When we accept Him, we become part of Him. He will not forsake His own.

Always remind me of Your love, Lord,

“As I challenge each of you to become like Jesus, you must remember one very important fact. I am the only One who can make the changes that are needed in you. You can never change yourself. Any attempt to do so enters into the realm of religion and destroys My concept of relationship. Religion is man’s vain attempt to become good before Me. It causes striving, a system of good works in an attempt to impress Me, and much condemnation when you realize that you will never achieve the goal of holiness.

A person who has an honest relationship with Me, however, understands his complete and total bankruptcy. In his deepest inner parts, there is no hint of the possibility of achieving anything in his own strength. Anything that might be accomplished in him or through him is understood to come from Me. That is the kind of relationship for which Jesus died. He died so that you could cease from any striving to better yourself. I promise to do all of the work of perfecting you and making you holy.

All I ask you to do is come and spend time with Me. As you do that, I will impart Myself to you. Each time We visit, a little more of you is perfected. While We enjoy each other, My Word is accomplishing its task. The call that I have on your life is impossible for you to accomplish, especially in the coming times and seasons when I will require the out-flowing of Jesus in your daily walk. It will require total death to your flesh, a painful process.

Although there will be times of agony, when all you can do is hang on to My promises, I will be hanging on to you, holding you close to Me. In the easier times, let’s have fun together, while I am accomplishing My work in you and for you.”

Hebrews 10:14 NIV

because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Those who desire to draw closer to the Lord and become all that they are intended to be know that religion, good works, and striving have no part in their lives. Sometimes, however, every one of us has a tendency to fall into the trap of each one of those elements, especially when we hear the call to holiness and preparation for the coming of our Lord.

In the above verse, I am so encouraged by the words “those who are being made holy.” The wonderful part of “he has made perfect forever” is pretty incredible and difficult for me to understand fully; but “being made holy” soothes my heart. At this very moment - and every moment until we are with our Father in heaven - the process of making us holy is being accomplished, because we have surrendered our lives to Jesus and His completed work on the cross. It is being done for us as we embrace the astounding honor of spending time with our Father. What an incredible, assuring promise!

“Few of you are ready to be inconvenienced. Few of you are willing to go the extra mile for those who cannot return the favor. You need to change that. It is a heart position that denies who Jesus is. It is a posture that identifies with the world’s system, not Mine.

Most of you need to practice stepping out from your comfort zones. You need to purposely place yourselves in positions where you appear as someone greater than who you really are to others. Go beyond your small world and reach into the world of My presence. I will meet you there. It is like building up your muscles. Once you start to exercise them, they become stronger and can do more.

Build your heart that way. Practice loving deeper. Begin to care for someone who has little ability to care back for you. Get uncomfortably open with your love. Extend your love beyond the reasonable and into the realm of the unashamed. It is the antithesis of what is happening in the world. You will stand apart. You will be taken advantage of. Your personal zones may be inconvenienced. You may be laughed at after you have spent yourself, scorned when you exhaust your resources for the sake of others; and chastised when you display unabashed acceptance to the unacceptable. It will be fun.

I love to accompany you to those kind of vibrant displays of the heart of Jesus. I love to fill empty, outstretched hands with miracles. I love to find ways for those who have no ways. I love it when you, My chosen ones, show others Jesus rather than simply talk about Him. Go find where He may be found, instead of continually calling Him to where you are. We will rejoice together in the vibrant world of loving service.”

I Sam. 16:7b AMP

For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

Matt. 22:37-39 AMP

37And He replied to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).

38This is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.

39And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.

John 15:13 NIV

“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”

Jesus left His heavenly home, was persecuted, whipped; and then died on the cross while others laughed at Him, so that we - who say that we are His followers - could remain comfortable in our own little worlds, store up riches for ourselves, and demand more from God. I don’t think so!!!

May I be like You, Jesus,

“Be grateful for those who have helped you in the past. Rejoice over how I have provided for you. Give to others with selfless abandon. Speak life-giving words into those around you. Deeply love everyone that is near you. Bless your mate. Bless your children. Bless your parents. Bless your friends. Make a practice of rejoicing in My love for you. I will bless you.”

Psalm 111:2 NIV

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

Isaiah 40:1 NIV

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

My family and I were walking into a restaurant in South Florida early one evening. We were just in front of a young man who we found out later worked there. As we were walking into the building with this man right behind us, the Lord told me to turn around and bless him. The thought gave me cause to hesitate a moment because this man did not look friendly, and carried a street presence that usually signifies a gang association.

When I turned around, the man stopped with surprise. Before he could do anything, the Lord directed me to put my hand on his chest and speak wealth into his spirit. I was directed to tell him that he was valuable, that God had a plan for his life; and that Jesus loved him. He was so surprised and taken aback that all he could say was a weak “thank you.” When he did, his head was down and he looked like a little child. I believe that few people, if any one at all, had ever affirmed his worth to him.

For the time we were at the restaurant, we observed him glancing at us with a questioning look every time he had the opportunity while he did his work. I think that he will remember that moment for the rest of his life. Such a small thing to do, but such a major event in someone’s life.

Show me how to bless others, Lord,

“For many years now, I have been telling you to prepare for the final fulfillment of My Word. Some of you have responded to My heralding with absolute abandon. You have seen the signs all around you that confirm what I have been telling you, and you have initiated whatever changes were needed to respond to My wooing. Life as you knew it has fallen away in your heart, and your only reason for existing is to be totally prepared and part of those who will usher in the coming of My Son. Even though things seem to take longer than expected, you remain faithful to what you know to be true in your heart.

Others of you are just now responding to the events all around you. You are applying what is very evident before you because you see its application to My Word, and are beginning to adjust your priorities. Things are changing so fast that their implications have become very clear. Soon, you will move with zeal in the direction of holiness because you will finally know that what once was in your world can never be again. You see it, and are making proper decisions to apply your lives to what is happening. You have determined to be ready and will soon sell out completely to what you know to be truth.

The remainder of My church does not, as of this time, understand where their priorities should be. They are still attempting to find only solace in Me for their personal needs, rather than responding to the Holy Spirit’s call to holiness. Their eyes are only on themselves and their desires for their kind of abundant life.

My caution to them is to wake from your slumber. Shake loose from anything that hinders you from choosing holiness as your only desire. Exchange your old life for My new life in Jesus. There is still time, but do not wait too long.”

Isaiah 48:3 NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

The Lord always warns His people of what He is doing to accomplish His will and fulfill His plans. Throughout history, it seems that there have been several responses to what the Lord is saying at any given time. Basically, I see that these responses come in three seasons or waves.

I have observed that there are those who are very responsive to the slightest movement in the heavenlies. Their ears are so tuned to the heart of the Lord that He has a mouthpiece to herald His heart to begin to stir His people. This heralding begins at a time when there is little or no evidence of the heralding being needed. Usually, most do not hear what is being said; and these few are labeled as fanatics. Because of their great love for their Lord, however, they quietly press on, holding what they have been told in prayer and sharing only with those who have ears to hear.

I believe that the next group responds to concrete evidence and its application to the Word. Their great love for the Lord motivates them to be very sensitive to their world and its biblical application. Wanting to accomplish the Lord’s will, they recognize the times and seasons as they happen, and respond in kind. They implement on a large scale what the first group has been saying for a long time. Generally, it seems that this group hears what the Lord is saying in time to respond and move with Him to accomplish His will.

The third group usually submits to any movement of God only through great pressure. When things become too difficult for them to handle, they seek God’s help in solving their needs; and therefore do not move from their comfort zones unless it is absolutely necessary. They are only moved by what is best for them and usually miss much of what the Lord is really saying until it’s too late. When what was being proclaimed for a long time does come to pass, this group is usually scurrying to do just enough to get in on what is happening. Usually, it seems that they miss out completely.

Wanting to hear and respond quickly,

“You are seeing all things that I have created in your world so far fall in their place. Through My Word, you have seen the creations of the heavens and the earth. You have seen the creation and rebellion of My angelic beings. You have also seen the creation of mankind. Each and every one of My creations has an order that is to be followed, and is functioning in My plan. I have designed it to be that way. There is no guesswork in anything that I do.

Both My angelic creation and your creation have an initial period that allows proper choices to be made, and then there is a conclusion that fits within My overall plan. You are now part of the initial period - the earthly portion of your life. Your world, as you know it, will no longer exist once all of My purposes for it have been fulfilled. Once they are accomplished, you will remain with Me to fulfill the plans that I have for the eternal future. That may seem relatively unimportant at this moment in your life, but do not limit its impact in regard to your future.

You need to remove your focus from the immediate and begin to realize that I have much more for you to do once your creation has fulfilled its initial purpose. Just as the angelic creation had a time to be involved in the playing out of their initial purpose to then function in My plan because of their choices, your involvement today directly impacts your future with Me. Your choice to serve Me was only the beginning. Your actions and daily choices have far more impact than you know.

What you do each day, the choices you make, the decisions you follow, really play a part in your eternal future. Make proper choices. See a larger picture than what is presented to you each day by your life. I am a very creative God. Do not limit Me because you cannot see beyond what is happening in your little world.”

Joshua 24:15b NIV

“…then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…”

Matthew 24:35 NIV

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”

I often wonder what the timeframe was that the angels had to make their decision to follow God. How much time did Lucifer have to influence that decision? How long did they function with God before the rebellion was exposed? Did they spend all of their “days” in the rebellion plot, weeding out those who would remain faithful to the Lord and those who would rebel or did “life” go on as usual, in service to God, while all things were playing out?

I know that those things are not necessary for us to know in order to function or they would have been revealed to us through the Word. It is fascinating, however, to understand that there was some sort of timeframe whereby the angels functioned; and then there was a conclusion to life as they knew it for some of them. Once the heavenly rebellion was concluded and the “players” of God’s plan had solidified their positions by their actions, God went on to His next work – us.

Now we, as a human race, are in the same sort of initial timeframe that the angels had. We have been created. Biblical history has shown us of a rebellion - this time with a means for redemption through Jesus Christ - and this very day we are on our way to the conclusion of this timeframe in our lives. What happens next, only God knows.

What does seem of paramount importance, however, is how we redeem each moment that the Lord has given us before He closes this portion of history. Our days are definitely numbered. What we do with each one seems to have a definite impact on our function in God’s economy, not only for today; but also for the many futures to come.

Needing to function in God’s plans, not mine,

“Do you see how relentless the darkness has become? How are you preparing to handle what is about to occur? Are you hiding your head and making believe that things will remain the same for you? Are you crying peace and safety? Are you hoping that you will remain comfortable? I am preparing the hearts of those who will listen for times that are racing your way. If you will come, I will teach you to use My weapons against any enemy.

These weapons are not of this world. They are powerful to tear down strongholds in the heavens, which will create places of rest and refreshing from the battles when all else is in turmoil. When will you submit to My training? Soon the world will need what you have been given. Soon nothing but My presence will overcome.

Turn your eyes from whatever causes you to be blind to what is really at hand. Look to where I am. Submit to My ways, so I can use you to be a resource to Jesus. The world is out of answers and spiraling into horrible depths. You have the answer! He is Jesus. It is the power of the cross. It is the power of His life living through you!”

Ps. 4:8 AMP

In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.

Ps. 121:1-2 NIV

1I will lift up my eyes to the hills – Where does my help come from?

2My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

2:Cor. 10:3-5 NIV

3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

And so, the preparation of the bride for the return of her Groom, Jesus, began in earnest all over the world. The heavenly hosts, charged with the anticipation of something wonderful about to take place, moved to carry out their now increasing activity with a wonder of it all. The heavens resounded with a symphony of endeavors that would crescendo with all the hosts bursting forth in praise as the Lord would soon appear for His own.

A momentary brightness, a window of grace, a season of harvest would be released upon the earth before the coming purging which all preceded the coming of the Lord for His people. The earth, in response to the Lord’s command, groaned and strained as if in childbirth, as a warning to those who had eyes to see or ears to hear. Natural disasters such as unparalleled storms, earthquakes, and flooding would leave many helpless and without hope. Man-made disasters such as fires, riots, rampant terrorism and unbridled crime made citizens demand something be done for the safety of the majority. Although all was, in His mercy, a fulfillment of God’s promises to reveal to mankind its helplessness without Him, and to allow those who would hear the opportunity to repent, many would scoff at the thought that He had a hand in it at all. More police, more organization, more law, more money, would become the cry. Instead of turning to God, most would turn their backs on Him all the more, with ever hardening hearts.

Those who would respond to the call to holiness and to full submission would walk in intimate fellowship with their Savior. If they chose to move selflessly and reverently with crucifixion power, they would see the wonder of God in their daily activities. An irresistible wooing, except to the most hardened heart, would become visible to the church first, and then to the ripe fields ready to produce their crop in abundance.

Let me hear and see with Your heart, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Sometimes it is in times of pain and suffering that you find Me. Sometimes I need to bring you to the end of yourself, so that you will seek Me with all your heart. It is My love for you that turns your eyes toward Jesus. When you call out to Him in your desperation, He will come to you and bring you new life. Your religious heart will be softened. Your priorities will be put in line. Your motives for all that you do will become My motives as you grow in Me.

Call out to Jesus in your need. Call to Him for the first time or for as many times as you need. He is waiting to ease your pain. His love is always for you, never against you. He is Lord, and He is waiting to be Lord over your every situation. Turn everything over to Him. Submit yourself to a love greater than you have ever known. You will find the answers you have been looking for as you find Him.”

2 Samuel 14:14 NIV

“But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

Matt. 11:28-30 AMP

28Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

29Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.

30For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good – not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.

Luke 22: 61-62 NIV

61The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”

62And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Some of us think that we have the corner on this thing called Christianity. For a while, I sure did. Having met Him in a cemetery - stupid, full of dope, one day before I planned to kill myself - I found real life and real love for the very first time. I, of course, immediately turned everyone off with my zeal and freedom - being so full of newfound love, but so immature and insensitive.

What I didn’t realize at the time is that my Father in heaven brought me to the place of desperation, so that I would finally come to the end of myself and cry out to Him in my need. Because I was such a hardhead, I had to be stripped of everything before I would submit fully to Jesus and His Lordship over my life. I had to realize that I was helpless and needed a Savior.

Since then, His faithfulness has brought me to a point of need often, so that I would realize the necessity of resubmitting and recommitting my life to His Lordship. He would stop me dead in my tracks, making me realize that I was running off by myself somehow; and quietly bring me back to the place of total submission to Him, the only place of safety.

Here’s a thought. No matter how long you have known Jesus, no matter how much you are doing for Him, stop for a moment. Ask a few questions about your life. Is everything in order? Is everything at peace in your heart? If not, maybe the Lord is calling you to turn your life back to a place of total submission to Him. Maybe He wants all of you once again. Maybe the Father is saying that the answer to all your needs is Jesus, and He is asking you to get back to basics with Him before you can move on.

Going back often,

Jim Corbett

“Are you part of the crowd, or are you setting yourself apart unto Me? I never approve of mediocrity. I cannot abide the lukewarm heart. I do not accept cold petitions and insincere praise. I am calling for deep devotion, first love adoration, and zealous involvement from those who claim to be Mine.

There is still time. Turn your hearts to Me. Repent of your divided interests. Throw away the things of the world that have your attention. I will meet you right where you are. I will have mercy on you for as long as you desire, as you remain sincere in your turning from those things that are shown to be hindrances in your life.

The call is out. I want you to dedicate yourself completely to Me. Submit to Me and I will accomplish My desire in you.”

Romans 2:4 NIV

….not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?

I Th. 5:24 AMP

Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].

James 4:8-10 AMP

8Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

9[As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins].

10Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

Rev. 3:15-20 NIV

15“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

16So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

17You say, ’I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be in earnest, and repent.

20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”

What an incredible Lord God! How merciful He is to have so much patience with us. I love the open kindness and loving mercy that our Lord has for us. How many of us would endure people whom we call friends for as long as the Lord has endured our fickle hearts? Praise God for the blood of Jesus!

I am convinced that this generation is being pressed on all sides for the purposes of refinement. We are being called to really become who we have been saying we are for a long time. Now He is forming us for His purposes, for this time, for these people. How blessed we are to be part of the plans of God!

Teach me to respond properly when You call me, Lord,

Jim Corbett
