“In your quest to be like Jesus, make sure that you do not remain self-focused. It is not His way. Even though you are concentrating on His character and comparing yours to His so that you can repent for change to take place, keep your heart toward others. Be aware of those around you who have need. Long for souls. Listen to My directives. While the work is being done in you, there is much to be accomplished through you. Jesus always cared for others while I was working through Him. You do the same.”

Genesis 1:27-28a AMP

27So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him: male and female He created them.

28aAnd God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]…

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them.

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15aAnd He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls…

John 5:19-20 NIV

19Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.”

The character of Christ will never be complete in us until we care for others the way He did. He gave His life so that you and I could be spared eternal separation from God. That kind of love is not something that would simply be good to have; it is paramount if we say that we follow Him. If it is not in us, every one of us should make it our priority to attain it. We can’t grunt it into existence. We can’t make believe that we have it by doing good things. The only way it will ever be achieved in us is if we go to the Father in repentance for our lack of desire for Jesus to live through us.

Father, I repent of not wanting to be completely eliminated so that Jesus can freely live through me,

“If I were to call you home today, would your life give a testimony of your obedience? Would it show that you have listened to My direction and moved in My heart towards those around you through Jesus? Have you done what I asked you to do? More importantly, have you chosen time with Me over time with the world and its ways? Your life and how you spend it really counts, you know!”

I Sam. 15:22 NIV

But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”

Jer. 10:23 AMP

O Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that [the determination of] the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.

Luke 12:48b AMP

For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.

Ephesians 3:10-12 AMP

10[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

11This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord.

12In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

You and I have been born with a purpose and for a purpose. We are the Lord’s tools - designed, then redesigned and continually perfected to represent His heart and desire to our specific corner of the world, even to the angelic creation. Maybe we had better get on with it.

When was the last time you became passionate about the Lord’s plans? For that matter, when was the last time the Lord’s plans for your life took priority over the other demands you face each day? God is clearly requiring each of us to make Him our priority. Still, most of us agonize over the demands of simply living out each day - paying the rent, providing for food, etc. To stop, even for a day, and spend it entirely with the Lord should He ask us to do so would be beyond comprehension for some of us.

Give me Your passions, Lord,

“Unfolding your life for you is a joy every heavenly moment. I relish the idea that you will eventually be the person that I have planned for you to be. I see how you stumble and wander and wonder. I love how you are seeking for truth. It pleases Me that you are coming to Me more often for that truth. You need to know that I am pleased with you. I understand how far you have to go. I appreciate the struggles that you are going through. I knew how many times you would fail long before you were born, and still I gladly invited you to be with Me for eternity.

If you have any doubt that I would ever leave you or forsake you, eliminate that doubt forever in your mind. It is all a lie of the enemy. I have created you. I have called you. Now I am forming you. I will invest My time in you because I believe in who you are. You are valuable to Me. It delights Me to know that I am becoming more valuable to you each and every day. This is only the beginning. You should see what I have in store for you. Run your race hard. Focus on your calling. Prepare as a bride in waiting with every fiber of your being. It will all be worth it.”

Ps. 139:14-16 NIV

14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

15My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

2 Cor. 3:3 AMP

You show and make obvious that you are a letter Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with [the] Spirit of [the] living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

II Tim. 4:7-8 NIV

7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

What an incredible Father! The more we learn of Him, the more we can understand why He goads us, chastises us, encourages us, and flat out loves us. He has a plan for us.

I once received a letter demanding that I remove a person from our mailing list. He asked to be removed because he stated that the messages were for the “namby-pamby, wimpy, and weak.” He went on to say that the messages nauseated him and that a “Mr. Rogers” approach to the gospel was not appealing to him. He said that God is violent with our sins and will rip us from them by force…

I took that letter to prayer often after receiving it, wondering if the strong truth needed to bring each of us to proper, honest repentance was not being spoken. Many times I reviewed the former messages to gain overall insight into what is really on the heart of our Father.

I have come to this conclusion. Our Father in heaven is a loving Father who is eliminating the sin in our lives with determined energy. He has brought us to Himself through Jesus Christ so that we have the privilege of knowing who He really is. God is violent with our sin, but He is loving toward us. We have been brought into His presence because of the shed blood of Jesus. That blood is not wasted.

There is a fearful awe of God that is missing in the church today. He will not be mocked. That awe, however, should never overwhelm us to the point that we can’t go to Him in need while we are in the process of being cleaned up and made into the image of Christ. We can come to Him, confident that He will accept us because of and covered in the blood of Jesus.

I feel very sorry for the one who wrote the letter mentioned above. He has focused on an attitude that shows little of the complete nature of our Father who loves us deeply, whether He is chastising us or encouraging us. The man is missing so much.

“I have some people that I need you to invest in. Some of them do not like either Me or you. Some you know already; some others I will bring to you. You will recognize them if you open your eyes and listen with your heart. They look very much like you did a while ago. Don’t let them pass you by without allowing them to know a little more about Jesus, OK? I’m counting on you. If you need any help, I’m here for you.”

2 Cor. 5:20a NIV

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.

Isn’t it amazing that those who come our way and are turned away for one reason or another are, more than likely, the ones sent to us by God? I wonder if any of us would keep an employee for any length of time if he had the pitiful track record at his task that we have when it comes to showing Jesus to the ones sent to us. Still, our Lord puts up with our selfishness and waits patiently for us to grow up.

Grow me up, Lord,

“Where are My advocates? Where are those holding up the arms of My frontline servants? Jesus is your Advocate. He gave everything He had, so that you could prosper and be with Me. He is still standing in the gap for you. I expect you to do the same for others. Pour out your life as an oil. Bind hurts with your love and support. Minister healing to the weary. You will bring joy to Me as you pour your life into others. I will then pour My life into you.

Exodus 17:12 AMP

But Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So [the other men] took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

2 Chr 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Matthew 25:23 NIV

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!’”

John 13:33-34 NIV

33“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

34All men will know that you are My disciples if you love one another.”

Are you ever an honest advocate for anyone? Jesus had a passion to empty Himself and live a life devoted to others. He would never lift Himself up or hold Himself in higher esteem than anyone else – even the lowliest leper. Even though He was God, He held everyone in His heart as more important than Himself; especially those who laughed at, tortured, and crucified Him. He could not be wounded by their sin; He could only see their desperate need.

In the true spirit of advocacy, Jesus also desires to see His Father put “first” and is constantly looking to have Him glorified. His delight is in having Father God as the object of esteem in the hearts of those He loves. All of His mortal life, and now all of His kingly life, undergirds and points to the Father. There is no “one-sidedness,” however, as all of the Godhead - in unity of spirit, being one - point to each other’s wealth.

As the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who functions as our advocate, delights to see us accepted and perfected. He would gladly go to the cross again and again, if He had to, so that we could prosper and be complete in His Father’s love; and so that His Father would continually have the pleasure of our company. (Praise God that everything was finished once and for all at Calvary!)

With Jesus as our example, and with the Father’s love flowing through us, we are to walk as advocates for our Lord, each other as believers, and then on behalf of those who have need. Our adoption into the family of God, our sonship, gives each of us the heritage and ability to do so through the power of the Holy Spirit.

I choose to cooperate as You get rid of the me in me, Lord,

“Assemble together in the Name of Jesus. Use His Name to take authority over any enemy. Call forth whatever is needed to win any battle by invoking the power of His Name. Come into My presence as if He were coming to Me by coming in His Name. Love deeply in His Name. It is the Name above every name. The Name of Jesus brings forth My presence; all that I have and all that I am. Whisper It for peace. Say It whenever you need a Friend. Use It wisely. Never misuse It.”

Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV

6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace./p>

7Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

John 6:57 AMP

Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me.”

John 14:12-13 AMP

12I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.

13And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son.

If only we would gain a full and complete understanding of the power and majesty of the Name of Jesus, we would only want to be part of whatever is happening wherever He is.

“Your innermost man is designed to exist on food from Me through the power of My Holy Spirit. It thrives on My Word. It is nourished only in My presence. You can find no nourishment from the things of the world now that you have been formed to exist in My world. You are a new creation. It is about time you recognize that.

A diet of worldly food starves the spiritual being that you have become. It has no nourishment for who you are becoming in Jesus. Even pre-digested food, food and wisdom from those who know Me, will not sustain you for long. You will become weak and spiritually lethargic in the ways of the Spirit. You need to spend time in My presence. You need to eat at My banquet table. I need you to be fit and ready for My work. Stop eating the things that your inner being sees as junk food. Receive My power from My Spirit. Learn to eat properly from My hand or you will atrophy to My ways.”

John 4:34 NIV

"My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.”

John 6:57 AMP

Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me.

Most Christians today are so busy running after the opinions of others regarding Who God is and what He is saying in these end times, that they have forgotten how to hear from Him themselves. It is easier to read how some Bible expert interprets chapters and verses of the Bible than it is to spend the kind of time necessary to receive the rhema Word in our own spirits from the Holy Spirit.

Unless we have an intimate relationship with the Lord from being with our Lord and in His Word, we will not notice when worldly influences creep in and destroy God’s call to holiness. We will become dry and dead if we continue our pursuit of someone else’s opinion and interpretation. We are invited to come into the presence of the One Who spoke the world into existence because of the blood of Jesus. What could possibly be important or powerful enough to stop us from going there?

Teach me to only value Your opinion, Lord,

“The explosion at the grave did much more than bring the most important person Who ever lived back to life. It modified the creation model forever, furthering My plan and providing a pathway for mankind to interact with Me eternally through the blood of Jesus. It established new boundaries for My interaction with you for this season of your existence. It set in motion a new eternity and at the same time began the countdown to the end of life as you know it.

Soon I will usher in a new heaven and a new earth. It will complete the era in which you live and begin another phase of the expression of Who I am. How involved do you want to be in My future plans? Although access to Me is provided for you through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, your commitment level to Him in this season shows Me much. It shows your sincerity and devotion to Me and whatever I have in mind for the future.

Understand that I am, at this moment in time, building a generation to interact with Me for eternity. Your life commitment in Jesus is being scrutinized and recorded. How you choose to implement the new life I have given you, and how you take advantage of the unlimited access that you have to Me, greatly impacts how I will use you in My eternal future.”

Eph. 4:12-13 AMP

12His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church),

13[That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ and the completeness found in Him.

Phil. 3:10-11 AMP

10[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

Rev. 2:26 NIV

“To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations.”

Most of us are so short-sighted that we apply what we have been given through Jesus only to our waking moments on this earth. God always interacts from an eternal perspective. We act and react from our limited perspective of what is best for us this very moment.

Until we determine in our hearts to get in line with God’s heart for His reasons, we are missing out on more than we could ever imagine. We are also failing to realize how important our days are. We may think that we are benefiting from consuming all that the Lord has provided on ourselves. We fail to realize the eternal impact of our selfishness.

Open my eyes, Lord,

“It’s time to get back to the basics of My Word. It’s time to set aside the foolish teachings of men and return to My kind of life for you. That is one of absolute obedience and submission to My will. Many of you have found comfortable teachings about the use of your time, money, resources, and giftings that keep you from living the submissive, crucified life. Because you have chosen the easy, self-serving road, I am unable to share the deeper things of My heart with you. I know that you will consume them upon yourself in the same way that you have consumed My other resources. In short, I can’t trust you with My heart for this season.

If you, however, repent of your selfish ways, I will once again trust you with My Word. Repent now. I desire to share fresh manna with you, manna to give to those who are hungry for real food. If you continue on your selected path and do not repent, you will be one of the drooling masses, who are consumed with the fear of losing those things they are holding close when difficult times unfold. I desire for you to be able to feed others; you however, will require food from those who have chosen My way, all because you would not hear Me and turn from your selfish ways.”

Joshua 7:13 AMP

Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel; There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel. You can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction].

Mark 4:24 AMP

And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you – and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

I am convinced that the Lord is tearing away the false teachings that have permeated the church, teachings that have hindered the work of God going forth. Because of the complacency that has set in, the general body leaves the preaching to the preachers, the evangelizing to those “called” to do so, the support limited to “tithes,” and the witnessing to those who are “better at it than we are.” Neighbors waiting for someone to share the Gospel with them go to hell, and we wonder why God never sent the right person, instead of repenting for not going ourselves.

You and I are the ones God desires to use for His work. Each of us has been given gifts and talents that are needed right in our own circles. The Lord is asking every one of us to give away what we have been given. Instead, we stand around with clenched fists, looking for others to share what they have.

Open my hands and allow me to pour out Your gifts, Lord,

“When you are in synchronization with My will, your life beats with a rhythm designed in heaven. There are no fits and stops. There are no immovable obstacles. There are no fearsome turns. Everything is in order and continues in an interactive flow as We communicate and implement, empowered by My Holy Spirit and accomplished through you. Once you fully understand that you have the same access to Me as Jesus did, you will never be out of beat again. You will be where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there. I will be there with you. Our friendship of interaction and implementation will be a symphony performed with precision and completed with power, accomplishing eternal works. That is how you were designed to live.”

Psalm 25:12-14 NIV

12Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.

13He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.

14The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.

Psalm 127:1 AMP

Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; except the Lord keeps the city, the watchman wakes but in vain.

Because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is our heritage to flow within the plans of the Lord, living and moving and having our being in Him. Because He really lives in us, it is reasonable to expect that there will come a time when our old life of independence will joyously be cast aside and be replaced by a life of full submission to our Father. It is also reasonable to believe that as we move in proper choices, ones initiated and implemented by the Holy Spirit, our lives will ring with the love of the Lord, motivating and touching many through Him and glorifying God as we do. We are truly a blessed people with an astounding opportunity to have our lives really mean something.

Thank You, Lord,

“A new season is at hand. To those of you who understand that there must be a crucifixion of your flesh, anticipate the joy that is your heritage after your resurrection. Understand that I am taking you to a death of everything that you were, all that you own, and all that owns you. I must do this so that you can be trusted with My presence. You must be an empty vessel so that My presence is all that is in you after I call you forth. There will be a resurrection. I will roll away the stone of your grave. I will raise you up for this end-time work.

Here is what must happen. You must die to yourself. That work is in progress as we speak. Submit to My hand and the trials that you are encountering. They are refiner’s fires that will allow you to embrace the cross as Jesus did. Next, you must rest as a dead person would rest, waiting for Me to move in your situation. Your submission will have planted the seed in you of the anticipation of My resurrecting hand upon you. Then in My time, when all is ready, I will once again bring forth My light to the world. It will be in you as fully as it was in Jesus. Consider this the holy work that it is. Soon, I will call you to come forth.”

Galatians 2:20 AMP

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]: it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Gal. 5:24 AMP

And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.

Gal. 6:14 NIV

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

So many of us desire to have all the good stuff without going through the suffering that conforms us into the image of the Lord. Consequently, we take our head knowledge to those around us. The further consequence of that is that few, if any, people are changed by head knowledge.

God is calling for a holy generation - a resurrection generation, one that has embraced the cross, waited as if dead to our own abilities to push the gravestone aside; and allowed the Spirit of God to completely eliminate our flesh and renew our spirits. We are a remnant, waiting as if a bride for the Lord to complete His work in us. I believe that He is about to call us forth here, and soon to Himself.

There are no shortcuts to completing the work that is needed to be done in each of us. Our Lord is very good at placing us in situations and circumstances that are intended to change us. He wants all of us. That’s how much He loves us.

Only by Your strength, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“I would like you to peruse everything that you call your own, and see if you would really give it away if I asked you to do so. Where does My ownership stop? If there is a time that it does stop in your life, what is your interpretation of “Lordship” and “Master”? Where do you draw the line when it comes to stewardship of My wealth and cross into personal ownership? If I asked you to give away everything, would you do it; or is that kind of request outside of My jurisdiction?

How can you say that I own your life if I really don’t own every relationship, every moment, and every item in your life? Search My Word and see if you can find your license to claim anything as your own if you’ve given your life to Me. Jesus owned nothing, including His life, as an example to each of those who were to come after Him. His waiting bride is in training to do the same.”

Acts 4:29-35 NIV

29“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had.

33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all.

34There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales

35and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.”

The above verses fascinate me as much as any verses in the Bible. They occur as a fledgling church moved in a society that was reeling from the most incredible event in history - the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Just after the Holy Spirit empowered them, the church formed patterns for others to follow. As stated above, when in peril, they asked for boldness to proclaim Jesus, not deliverance from the danger. It was too early for the different interpretations of what had happened to pollute them, so they had one heart and one mind. Their risen Master owned nothing and gave everything. It was natural to do the same, not even counting the cost.

Isn’t it fascinating that those who probably walked with Jesus acted very much like He did, once they were strengthened to do so? It seems that as more time elapses - and the further we, as believers, get from the actual resurrection day - the more room for personal interpretation of how Jesus lived is involved in the way that we choose to represent Him. It is also fascinating that we seem to be less powerful in everything we do as that occurs.

At present, we, the church, have become so much like the world in most of what we do, that our impact on the world is far less noticeable. We almost fit comfortably in a society that hates Who we are supposed to represent. Sort of makes you want to go “Hmmmm!”

Change my heart, Lord,

“In the quiet place of intimacy with Me can be found all that is needed for you to be complete. When all the distractions that the world calls prosperity have been stripped away, you, My child will find true prosperity. What the wisest scholar could not grasp about the true meaning of life will be comprehended full by the youngest child who is truly Mine. At that time, My people will understand My Son's heart as He was led to the cross. They will understand the kind of love He had for those who cursed Him. At that time, only what is truly important will be worth knowing. All else will pass away as so much rubbish. My people will prosper as I see prosperity.”

Phil. 3:10-11 AMP

10[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted, with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

This scripture has brought me so much life! In the many times that I have studied it, I have learned something each time. I believe that the operative thought our Father would impart here is "freedom."

Paul is giving us the key to Christ’s kind of freedom in every circumstance. This is not a "What can You do for me, God?" kind of Christianity. It is an "I realize that I have been bought with a price; I will gladly do what is necessary to serve You properly, Lord" kind of love. It is the kind of wealth that allows us to joyfully overcome everything the world has to offer.

People who are in this for their good rather than the Lord’s purposes will think you've gone stark raving mad if you pursue this kind of life. Then again, the world’s way of thinking could never understand God's kind of freedoms. Understand also that every trial you incur will really be a gift given to you to make you more like Jesus. It's also God's way. That means that even those who would come against you are really helping you in your quest. What an incredible God!

“You will never lose your way if you keep your eyes on Me. I understand every path you are to follow. I have gone before you. I am with you. As We walk together, you will see the majesty of the paths We have walked in the past. It will give you confidence to walk in new directions. Take My hand. Be confident that I will provide solid footing. Sometimes the path may seem dark. Allow Me to light the way. Allow Me to be your Guide. I know the way.”

Ps. 116:8 AMP

For You have delivered my life from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling and falling.

Ps. 119:105 AMP

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 16:9 AMP

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.

Isa. 30:20-21 AMP

20And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself any more, but your eyes will constantly behold your Teacher.

21And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.

Luke 1:78-80 AMP

78Because of em>and through the heart of tender mercy and loving-kindness of our God, a Light from on high will dawn upon us and visit [us].

79To shine upon and give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct and guide our feet in a straight line into the way of peace.

80And the little boy grew and became strong in spirit; and he was in the deserts (wilderness) until the day of his appearing to Israel [the commencement of his public ministry].

Few of us would venture into dark places on purpose. When those days come upon us, however, we can be sure that the Lord is in them with us. After the darkness has subsided and we have overcome by the power of the Lord, more often than not there is an astounding amount of evidence of the Lord walking every step with us.

The next time you are called to traverse uncharted paths, those you have never been on before, remember the many times you have conquered them in the past. They will help you to be assured that He will be with you again.

Allow me to remember how many times You have helped me, Lord,

“Study My Word. Ponder it in your heart until it becomes part of you. Allow My Holy Spirit to show you insights into its deeper meaning. Guard your heart from anything that does not conform to My Word and My heart. You can rely on Who I am and what I have said. I always confirm My Word. Anything other than My Word is not to be held close to you, even if it sounds good or looks real.”

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them,

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls and [thinned their numbers by] disease and death.

Psalm 111:2 NIV

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

Psalm 119:89 NIV

Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Psalm 119:160 NIV

All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 16:9 AMP

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.

What we deeply believe will determine who we are, why we pray, how we pray, why we attempt to bring others to see who Jesus is; and cause us to form a perception of why He did all that He did. This perception will be a foundation for how we interpret the Word of God; and consequently, how we carry out what we have learned, also showing others that same perception.

Where we place God in our plans will determine how we perceive the nature and purpose of our salvation. Wrong perception in this area will cause us to flounder blindly in a fog of religious activity, striving to find purpose for our life at best, and actually working against the real desires of God at worst.

Train my heart to desire only Your true Words, Lord,

“It is your responsibility to do what is right; it is My responsibility to give you the desire and ability to do so. These are not responsibilities that I take lightly. They are pivotal to Our relationship and the expression of My covenant with you to those who are observing Our interaction. Our relationship demands nothing less than absolute trust and honesty with each other. It relies on the fact that I must create in you a new heart, one that will be obedient to My will in everything, right down to the minutest detail. The expression of My work is when you do it.

My first creation, the angels as you know them, had no opportunity to work through obedience. When they rebelled, they were simply removed from My presence. I am working through obedience with you because of the nature of the relationship that I desire. Interaction is part of that relationship. Proper choices on your part declare the depth of your allegiance to Me. The progressive purity of your allegiance determines the depth of the flow of My work in your heart. That cycle continues until you see Me face to face. You submit, I build more of Myself in you. More of My nature in you creates more of a desire to submit, which brings more of My nature, and so on and so on. The cycle is necessary for My reasons.

All heaven is watching this interaction and marveling at your opportunity to relate to Me in that way. You believe Our relationship is limited to what you can understand. I have plans that are far above your knowledge. For now, you simply trust Me and submit to My will as best you can. I will then give you what it takes to move deeper with Me.”

Psalm 51:10 AMP

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.

The angels are amazed that we have free access and unreserved approach to God. What an astounding truth!

We have lost our awe of God. We have been given so much grace, and have functioned under so much mercy, that our perspective of what Jesus has done for us has been limited to our ability to reason. We go to God with a yawn, demand that He respond to our wishes with pompous attitudes, and receive from Him with ungrateful hearts.

God is allowing us to have access to Him so that His eternal plan can be worked out. He, for some reason that is far beyond my ability to comprehend, desires to be patient enough with our blatant disregard for His majesty and omnipotence in order to accomplish that work in us. We really don’t get it.

When I think about how we, as the body of Christ, misuse and misunderstand the incredible privilege we take for granted, I am reminded of a small child and his very caring parents. The child functions in his daily life, oblivious and unconcerned of what it requires of his parents. His expectations for the basics of life cause him to receive them mostly without any gratefulness, and sometimes even with a demanding attitude.

In their own little worlds, children demand their portion of respect, adulation, and honor, unaware that their basic freedoms are only theirs because of the graciousness of those around them - those who have built the kind of environment that facilitates their freedoms. They go happily about their self-centered little lives, giving little thought to the magnitude of the gifts in which they function.

Are we not very much the same with God, only compounded one thousand fold? I believe that if God would ever really expose us to our puny perspectives and naive attitudes, we would fall at His feet in repentance. We would also have a rekindled gratefulness for who He really is.

Show me the truth, Lord,

“Share My heart with your friends. Tell them that I really do exist. Show them Who I am by living the life of Jesus in their midst. You will be surprised at how many people in your circle have little knowledge of Me. Many may be religious, but that’s the extent of their capacity to know Me. If you take the first step, I will bring My presence to your willingness to reach to others.”

Exodus 33:13-16 NIV

13“If I have found favor in your eyes, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Ephesians 3:14-19 NLB

14When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,

15the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.

16I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.

17And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.

18And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.

19May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Over the years, I have encountered a good number of people who have said with their words or their actions that they are too busy to do more for God than they are already doing. In one instance, someone said that his business was so fruitful and kept him so busy that teaching a Sunday school class once a week was enough. I saw that sharing Christ has been pigeon-holed as one more activity in their lives, rather than a work of love and a passion as important as breathing.

Can you imagine how that breaks the heart of God? Do you understand how much they are missing compared to the full, vibrant life that the Lord has planned for them if only they would decide to fall in love with Him, instead of simply taking all they can from His goodness and His promises? I would call that foolishness.

Teach me to love so deeply that I need to share You or I will burst, Lord,

“When you are in Christ, you have been made new and you are continually being made new. There are always new beginnings in Me. Old things are continually passing away and all things are being conformed into His image. Your part of this wonderful process is a life of repentance and subsequent cleansing. I know that you are in the process of change. I know that you will fail to act like Jesus every moment until His completed work on the cross is done in you.

While you are being conformed to be more like Him to others, I want your fellowship. I desire that you come to Me to be refreshed and cleansed from any attachments to the world. Repent of who you are not and I will bring you closer to Who He is. Submit yourself to the completed work of the cross. Remain under the Lordship of Jesus. If you remain humble and insignificant in your own eyes, I will make your life significant. I will form you to be able to function properly within My eternal plans. I love you!”

2 Cor. 5-17 AMP

Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ, (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

James 4: 8-10 AMP

8Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

9[As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins].

10Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

What an astounding privilege it is to be given the opportunity by God Himself to have a significant life. The whole world scurries to and fro to find some sort of significance to their existence. Everyone craves to be known and embraced for who they are. Most of the time this is the driving force for all their worldly deeds and accomplishments.

If we have submitted ourselves to the Lordship of Jesus, we are known and appreciated by God for who we are. We also live in the promise whereby He will form us into the image of the most wonderful, most significant life ever lived. How wonderful it is to know and be known by the One Who created us in the first place. How wonderful it is to be able to live daily with the peace of knowing that we are significant and that our lives really matter.

I submit to Your hand, Lord,

“I know who you are not, and I love you. I see your desire to be like My Son and your struggle to attain that goal. You fret, strive, and worry when I goad you to become more like Him. I see you grieve when you can’t live up to the standards that I have set for you in My Word. When did I ever say that you could accomplish that task in your own strength? When did I ever require you to accomplish what even My law could not do in the most ardent follower? Why would you carry that burden?

Listen carefully. You must hear this. Stop striving to become better. You must change your ways of achieving My goals or you will soon be overwhelmed if you continue misunderstanding Our relationship. Your job is to submit; My job is to change you. I am raising the standard. I am about to require bride-like devotion from anyone who will be used by Me in the near future. I need a representative people to show the world My Son. Only submissive power will rise above the turmoil. Only Christ-like obedience will bring souls to Me during the soon-approaching great deception.

How will you ever make it? You will not possess My presence by striving to change what you have not been able to change so far. Stop striving. Stop struggling. Submit to My hand and surrender to My working in you what I need to do. There is no other way. What I require is impossible for you to do. I promise, however, to do it in you and for you. You can be free. Why would you insist on having it your way and continue to fail?”

2 Cor. 3:17 AMP

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).

Gal. 3:3 AMP

Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?

Our publication, A White Stone, is - among other things - a clarion call to holiness. The main characters set an example of how each of us can prosper during perilous times. After reading it, many people come to me with a renewed enthusiasm to be like one or several of those characters; in essence, to be the kind of representation of Jesus that the character is.

They often tell me of several ways in which they intend to change. If I can’t talk them out of their formula and must let them attempt to change themselves, it is normally just a matter of time before they come back to me - broken, overwhelmed, and very confused - wondering why the Lord did not honor their hearts.

Most of the time, I just take them to the above verses and they get the picture. The Holy Spirit started all of this. He is the one who must be in every equation during the changing process; and He must be allowed a free hand to fully accomplish His will in making you like Jesus. Anything else is simply frustrating, burdensome religion. It is a yoke that is too heavy for any of us to carry.

Understand this. When you break under the weight of attempting to become holy in your own strength, crumple at the feet of Jesus. Repent of your foolishness of attempting to accomplish by yourself what only the Holy Spirit can do. You are needed in the upcoming times. Don’t allow your stubbornness to cause you to be left on the sidelines.

“Direction for your life comes from quiet times with Me. You cannot hear Me in the din of your activity. You will not find My will while doing other things. I want all of your attention. It shows Me that you consider Our time together important. Jesus certainly considered it important. He died so that We could spend time together.”

Luke 23:44-45 NIV

44It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,

45for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

Most of us forget that one of the most important reasons Jesus died was so that we could have access to His Father. Think of it. He considered that access so important that He gave His life for it.

Father God knows how important time with Him is. He allowed the death of His Son so that we can come and spend time with Him.

How important is time with our Father to us? How many minutes out of our important schedule do we allot for time with the Creator of all things? How far is our life out of line with the heart of God because we consider other things more important than being with our Father in heaven?

Make time with You my priority, Lord,

“Where do you find safety? You read the headlines and accept the fear that they bring. You watch the news and release your comfort to its influence. You listen to the radio and choose to hide rather than face the season in which you live. Why do you not come to Me to see how you can be at peace, no matter what your circumstances might bring? I know why. You do not trust Me.

In My Word and throughout history, many of My people have been harmed in many ways. Some were killed violently by violent people who hated Me. You do not call that being safe with Me. In fact, it seems to you as a grave danger to truly trust and sell out to Me, if that’s the result. You do not understand safety as I see it. Selfishness blinds your spiritual eyes. Over the centuries, service to Me has deteriorated from joyous proclamation of My good news for the sake of others, no matter what the cost, to fearful cowering and fervent petitions for personal gain.

When will you realize that I alone am safety for those dead to themselves? When will you learn that I provide the Spirit of My Son in perilous times. Nothing could touch His heart of love and His zeal to protect you from real harm. Come to His kind of safe haven in Me. Nothing can touch what I own. Whatever part of you that is not totally Mine will reel and flounder when times are tough. I protect whatever is totally Mine. Nothing can touch what I protect.”

Prov. 21:30-31 AMP

30There is no [human] wisdom or understanding or counsel [that can prevail] against the Lord.

31The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance and victory are of the Lord.

Prov. 29:25 AMP

The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high.

Phil. 4:6-7 AMP

6Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

7And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Some of the first century church - who had their possessions confiscated, who fled to the hills to live in squalor, who died in the arena - physically walked with Jesus. Quite possibly, they saw His loving, sun-touched face up close and personal on a daily basis before His death, a death that was a pattern for their own life and death. He loved them and they showed their love to be an example of the power of His actions.

In the arena, as the mastiffs were attacking their children, as the lions devoured their own bodies, I am convinced that they saw His face, now glorified beyond belief, once more. His power was with them. They were fully protected from causing any shame to come to their very best Friend. His priorities had welded themselves deep within the fibers of their inner beings, gaining strength every moment as they approached the glory of God.

Life for the new believer had taken on a new form with new priorities. Quite possibly, some of those who took part in the crucifixion - the soldier who drove the nails in His hands, perhaps the one who pierced His side - exchanged their lives for a life of dedication to the one true God.

Equipped with His presence, they overcame all of the characteristics of their former puny existence and embraced the spiritual power to live above the hatred of the world. Their unqualified love is a testimony that resonates through the corridors of time, encouraging each of us to throw aside all of our crippling fears and look once again upon the face of Jesus, our true Master and Lord.

Needing to become much more familiar with Your face, Lord,

“Do you believe in miracles? Do you know that you are one? It’s true! You have been brought to life two times now, and will be given a third lifetime in the near future. That’s quite miraculous! From the first time that I breathed life into the first of your ancestors, the miracle of life has continued. You have just forgotten that it is so incredible because life takes place so often. Life is very special to Me because I not only birth it, I maintain every second of its existence in every person. I have done that for every one who has ever lived. Each of you maintain life only because I will it.

Think about your new spiritual birth. You actually become brand new creatures when you accept Jesus. I recreate you to live and function properly on earth, destroying the mutant life of sin that you inherited from the beginning of your time as a race. After I decide that your lifespan is over, I will breathe new life into you once again so that you can live with Me. Your spirits are ready, but your body will be made new. By the time you are complete, I will have endowed you with My life three separate times.

I would say that that is enough proof for you to believe in miracles, wouldn’t you? Prepare your hearts to walk fully in the miracle of your new life. The times are coming when you will need to do so. Be assured that I will be faithful to walk with you.”

Acts 17:24-28 AMP

24The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines.

25Neither is He served by human hands, as though He lacked anything, for it is He Himself Who gives life and breath and all things to all [people].

26And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes),

27So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us.

28For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own] poets have said, For we are also His offspring.

I believe that we have taken the wonder of our lives for granted. We have become so accustomed to God’s hand hovering over us that we forget how miraculous our life really is.

There is a side-show miracle mentality that prevails in today’s church. We have clamored for a visible presence of God to boost our faith, instead of seeking His face to really know Him. Consequently, the omnipotent God is brought down to the level of man, as humble- sounding words that claim to give credit to Him from self-promoters defy the prideful hearts that accept accolades and heap God’s money upon themselves. That is not the kind of mismanagement of our heritage that I believe is on the horizon for the true church of Christ.

In the Word, we read about walls falling, chains dropping to the ground, leprosy being healed, people being raised from the dead and so on and so on. The wondrous workings of our God are really part of our heritage. They are still happening, and I am convinced that they will increase as time grows shorter before the coming of our Lord.

However, I believe a most unique and miraculous time is ahead. Instead of Christians loudly displaying the wares of Jesus for their own gain, God will have a people who will exemplify the powerful life and quiet character of Jesus Christ. The world will understand that the spirit of God is again in their midst. I am convinced that miracles will again abound, this time through the lives of surrendered vessels, those who are now hearing the call to holiness.

Not only will there be physical manifestations similar to the works of Jesus, but astounding spiritual wealth will be commonplace as multitudes walk in humble obedience to their Lord. Empty of self, surrendered fully to the Lord, and functioning in the new birth through Christ, the honest church of Jesus will be a people preparing only for heaven, and looking only for His return. We will finally be seen as the incredible miracle that we really are, as God brings His holiness to us and makes us visibly ready to receive the life of our Lord for the third time.

Needing to clearly understand so that I can fully surrender,

“Whenever you move out from your comfort zone, I am always there to meet you. You must know that when you move from that place, you are functioning as I have planned for you to function. It is when you have need of Me. When you remain in familiar, comfortable places, most of what you do is in your own strength, wisdom, and power. In essence, you are independent of Me. That is opposed to everything that I have taught you and why I have formed you. You are designed to trust Me for your every breath, word, and action. Step into the fullness of needing Me desperately. Never be afraid to trust Me for your next anything. I will be there. I will show you what to do and make a way for it to be done.”

John 5:19-20 NIV

19Jesus gave them this answer: I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.

Ephesians 1:17-19a NIV

17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints

19aand his incomparably great power for us who believe…

There is nothing as amazing as our Father God creating situations and modifying circumstances right before your eyes when you need Him most. So many times He uses natural means to provide. He may bring the right person, possibly waking him or her in the middle of the night in answer to the need of one of His trusted soldiers. Often food shows up, money comes, words that minister pour forth supernaturally, and so on.

Every so often, however, He simply provides in His supernatural way. These times are something that can never be taken from you, and more than likely occur when we have stepped from our comfort zones.

I remember one of the times I was waiting on Him for food. There was little to be had anywhere in the cupboards and several very Christ-like guests came unexpectedly. One of the few provisions was the last flakes of a box of instant mashed potatoes. We made what there was, knowing there was not enough for everyone to have their fill; but each could have a very small taste.

We asked our Father to bless the small amount and began to pass the bowl around. To our amazement, each person took some and placed it on their plate, but the amount in the bowl did not decrease. We even passed the bowl around again and again and had some left over when we were finished. Honest!

I remember us trying futilely to see how He multiplied the potatoes. We couldn’t. What an amazing God who meets us in our need. Sometimes He even has fun with us, just to encourage us to step out the next time.

Remind me of the wonder of Your love more often, Father,

“If you love My Son, I call you perfect. You have gone from being separated from Me to Me calling you My friend and My child. I have longed for these days since the very beginning. I have planned for them, so that I will have My people to share the wonders of My heart. Never think that you are the same as those who are still outside of My choices for them. Never see yourself as unacceptable in My eyes just because you don’t act perfectly. I am simply not through refining your motives and purifying your heart. It will happen. I will complete My promised work in you.

For now, look past who you are now and understand that I welcome you in My arms every time that you come to Me. Jesus has done that for you. To Me, you are perfect.”

Romans 8:17 NIV

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ…

2 Cor. 3:18 AMP

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

2 Cor. 5:17 AMP

Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ, (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!

Hebrews 10:14 NIV

…because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Throughout our very ordinary days, you and I are shown how imperfect our lives are and how little we resemble the life of Jesus. From God’s perspective, however, we are seen as perfect because of our acceptance of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Because we have submitted to His Lordship over our lives, an astounding thing has happened. We have been spiritually changed. We are no longer outside the family of God. We are now called His children, His greatly loved children.

The next time you are blinded to what Jesus has done for you and in you, remember how your Father in heaven sees you. He sees you as perfect and on your way to living perfectly by the power of the cross and the continued work of the Holy Spirit.

Thanking You just doesn’t seem like enough, Lord,

“One of the most wonderful effects of the work of the cross is that you and I can be together just as Adam and Eve were with Me before they fell into rebellion. I used to walk in the cool of the day so that I could be with My loved ones. Now that I have torn the veil of separation between Us, We can spend as much time together as you desire. I make Myself available to you. You have been formed and reborn so that We can communicate.

Come to Me today. I love Our time together. Each time you come, you can remember the power of what Jesus has done and be grateful for His love for you. He knows how important it is for you to be with Me.”

Gen. 3:8 NIV

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Mark 15:37-38 AMP

37And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed out His life.

38And the curtain [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Few of us fully appreciate all that the cross of Jesus Christ has done for us. God, our Father, is at all times showing us that intimate fellowship with Him is the position for which each of us has been created. We are made to function hand-in-hand with our Father in Heaven. The guidelines on how to function that way have been made available to us in His Word. His constant urgings to be like Christ, to lay our lives down, to deny ourselves, to take up our cross, and to make God first in our lives are love messages to the bridal heart of Jesus. He also promises to do everything to initiate and accomplish those changes.

True intimacy is our privilege. If we look to our own needs and place our Lord somewhere behind them, our precious, loving Father promises to bring His priorities back in order in our lives. He has committed to do so. We have committed to need Him to do it.

Make me more aware of what You’ve done, Lord,

“Have you noticed how hard the hearts of the world have become? Have you noticed the absence of joy wherever you go? Have you sensed the uncertainty in the air? People are losing their bearings. Those who are not drawing close to Me are finding few places of rest.

As your earth reels as if in the pangs of childbirth, safety can no longer be found in familiar strongholds. As those who choose to strike terror in the hearts of others become multiplied, hearts are beginning to fail from fear. As your world becomes disjointed, there will be many who become wide-eyed and fearful. Handholds will become slippery. Typical footing is becoming unstable. Jesus, however, remains constant. Jesus remains Lord.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 2:22 AMP

Cease to trust in [weak, frail, and dying] man, whose breath is in his nostrils [for so short a time]; in what sense can he be counted as having intrinsic worth?

Isaiah 8:11-14a AMP

11For the Lord spoke thus to me with His strong hand [upon me], and warned and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

12Do not call conspiracy [or hard, or holy] all that this people will call conspiracy [or hard, or holy]; neither be in fear of what they fear, nor [make others afraid and] in dread.

13The Lord of hosts – regard Him as holy and honor His holy name [by regarding Him as your only hope of safety], and let Him be your fear and let Him be your dread [lest you offend Him by your fear of man and distrust of Him].

14aAnd He shall be a sanctuary [a sacred and indestructible asylum to those who reverently fear and trust in Him;

During extremely challenging times, things that were once held in high esteem become replaced by necessities. Once important appointments fall as dim memories. Things that a person thought he or she could never do without fade as foolish comforts. Sad to say, in most cases, personal survival supersedes any eternal work for the good of others; unless, of course, priorities have been established long before the hardship presents itself.

When peril comes, most of those who call themselves Christians will “hunker down” in an attempt to be safe; but they’ll be powerless to protect themselves. In a time when the Jesus they have said that they serve is needed most, they will not know how to call on Him or even know who He really is. Therefore, they will hide in fear, thinking that they will find a place of safety. Wherever they go, however, it will be a tomb for them spiritually speaking.

The only place of safety is to be solely and completely locked up in Jesus Christ, living His passionate life. In times of peril, His overcoming presence will not be with the cowering masses. He will be displayed in all of His radiant glory through those who take the time this very day, perhaps this very moment, to surrender fully to Him and His ways. He will be with those who use their every breath of life for His benefit and the benefit of those who need to see Jesus.

Prepare my heart now so that I will be of value to You when You call on me, Lord,
