“I want you to understand something. If you are My true minister, if you are really going to be available so that I can use you to present My life to those who are dying, if you are going to present My true heart to My church, you will need to be refined. I will take you to painful places, insurmountable circumstances, and hopeless situations, so that you will fully understand your need of Me. In that need, I will impart Myself to you and equip you to be able to help others in their need.

When you have ascended above your training because of My strength, and when you have allowed the fires of trials to eliminate your flesh and soften your heart, I will send you to those who need Jesus. Most of the people to whom I send you will never fully realize what it took for you to have what they need. They will care little for the pain you had to go through to be trusted with My presence, nor the price that you had to pay. Some may even be the ones who scorned you or laughed at you when you were desperately in need of Me, while they lived in luxury.

They may never thank you, but I will know. I will remember your anguish and subsequent submission to Me. I will never forget how faithful you are. It has always been that way. It is the path of Jesus. Are you willing to travel it with Him? Will you do it for Me?”

Luke 9:23-25 AMP

23And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].

24For whoever would preserve his life and save it will lose and destroy it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he will preserve and save it [from the penalty of eternal death].

25For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself?

Romans 5:1-5 NIV

1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

4perseverance, character; and character, hope.

5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Jesus did everything He did for us and for His Father. He gave His life because He loved deeply, knowing that those for whom He died would at times spit on Him, laugh at Who He was; and despise that for which He stood. He knew that most of the people He had created cared little about what He went through for them.

No one in the world cares about how much He gave and few of His children take enough time to remember all the reasons He left heaven, suffered, and died. Most think that His life and death is all about their salvation. Few understand that His life and death is really about the restoration of fellowship between God and man, because His Father desired it. He did it for us whether we cared or not, and for the Father.

If only for You, Lord,

“My church and most of its leaders are now paying the price for rejecting My ways for hundreds of years. What is called My church has gone through a metamorphic change, from basking in My presence to becoming places where My Spirit is not really welcome. Now I will do what I have always done in the past. I will raise up a people who are truly Mine, with My heart and My love for others. Those of you who have finally admitted that all is not well have now become free to know that I am moving you closer to Me, even when those around you do not desire to do so.

Church games are over. You will not find Me where there is a mixture of flesh and traditions. Do not be afraid to discern when I have left your fellowships. Become familiar with My presence by spending time with Me. Then you will know where I am and where I am not. Flee from where I am not. I will show you where to go and how to get there. Trust the Spirit of My Son. He will identify with His Spirit in others. That’s where I want you. You who are hearing are My people. I am delighted with you.”

Exodus 33:14-16 AMP

14And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.

15And Moses said to the Lord, If Your Presence does not go with me, do not carry us up from here!

16For by what shall it be known that I and Your people have found favor in Your sight? Is it not in Your going with us so that we are distinguished, I and Your people, from all the other people upon the face of the earth?

God will always have a people who are sold out to Him. They are distinguished by having the true presence of God in their midst. History has proven that when organized churches turn to traditions and lackluster functions, God moves His presence somewhere else. It has been that way throughout the ages and is happening now. Because of our books, we have the privilege of communicating with people all over the nation, even the world, who desire more of Jesus. For a long time we have heard the heart cry, “Where can I go where people are not playing games? My church is so cold!” It is the heart of the remnant bride calling out.

In the past, the Lord would raise up new fellowships or storefront churches that housed sold-out, dedicated believers who had only God’s heart in mind. They were available to hear from Him. He could freely move them to do His will, rather than deal with the “religion” of the stationary, complacent bodies that were so prevalent. He is doing the same now. Please understand, I also know of entire fellowships who have jointly scrutinized their lives and repented, pastors who have had a new encounter with God; and growing, vibrant fellowships that hear and teach the truth. There are pastors who lead congregations directly from the throne room of God, because they themselves have been there.

In areas where the traditional churches have become frozen, however, - where pastors have lost their first love and the desire to seek and teach holiness and are more concerned with sheep stealing or the business end of church - small Bible studies, home fellowships, and places where several families meet together with the Lord are springing up. Dedicated to prayer, honest praise and each other, and listening to the Holy Spirit, these little groups of devoted hearts are part of God’s representative people. They understand the times and seasons in which they live and are returning to their knees for direction, rather than simply participating in another distracting program. They are examining what they believe and holding it in the light of the Word of God for accuracy. If it can’t stand up under the scrutiny of the Word, if it is a belief for the sake of believing, if it is only a baseless tradition, it is discarded.

God always has a people who desire to hear only from their Lord and seek His face, laying down their lives and building holy alliances to address the needs of the day. He is rebuilding His church, holy and strong in His power, all over this land – a church that is desperately needed by a dying world. If you have seen only cold, dead religion where you are, look closer. God always has a people that represent Jesus. You seek the Lord and His holiness, and go find them.

“What are you doing for others? I have placed you in places and given you tasks to do, so that the people around you will see Jesus. That is one of the main reasons why you have been called into My kingdom. I want you to represent Me. Look away from yourself. Look to the needs of others as your priority. I will take care of you. Be an advocate for someone just as Jesus is an advocate for you. Love deeply. Care more. Walk with real purpose for your life. Serve instead of expecting to be served.”

II Cor. 5:20a AMP

So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us.

Heb. 12:2 NIV

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

As the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who functions as our advocate, delights to see us accepted and perfected. He would gladly go to the cross again and again, if He had to, so that we could prosper and be complete in His Father’s love; and so that His Father would continually have the pleasure of our company. (Praise God that everything was finished once and for all at Calvary!)

With Jesus as our example, and with the Father’s love flowing through us, we are to walk as advocates for our Lord, each other as believers, and then on behalf of those who have need. Our adoption into the family of God, our sonship, gives each of us the heritage and ability to do so through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Those walking as advocates delight in seeing others become all that they can be in Christ. Seeing any less motivates them to respond for the good of those individuals, even at a loss to themselves.

When someone comes against the advocate heart, there is a godly desire to have the offender eventually walk in all of the wealth of the Lord, for the sake of the Lord. To respond in any form of retaliation would be unthinkable. Advocates will love deeper than any argument. In fact, any accusation or injustice only causes them to desire that the other is forgiven and restored before the Father, never from a position of loftiness, but from the heart of lowliness.

Recognizing their acceptance with God, their heritage, their rights, and their privileges (which come via the work on the cross,) but esteeming others more significantly than themselves or their own needs, people walking with the heart of an advocate are wonderfully free. Jealousy, loss of reputation, perceptions of others, fear, and pride have no hold on them.

“If you seek Me with all your heart, you will receive everything you need to walk in the love of Jesus. I will hold nothing back. I love you and that is My promise. I also love others. They need to see Who Jesus is. If you begin to live like Him in their midst, they will be able to savor His presence. That changes things. It makes darkness light. You come to Me. I will build His life in you. Then I will give who you have become to others.”

Romans 12:1-2 NIV

1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Cor. 11:1 NIV

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

Colossians 1:9-12 NIV

9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way; bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully

12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

As important as it is to suffer for Christ through the laying down of your own will so that the will of your Father can be accomplished, it is equally important that there are times when you are called upon to suffer with Christ. Few people in the church are willing to take on the burdens that Christ feels toward those who are not saved, or toward those who made a commitment, but are living far from Jesus. To care about what Jesus deems important, to hurt as He hurts for the lost, to be burdened with the things for which He is interceding is more than most of us delight in doing.

Not everyone accepts a suffering spirit when it is given. Some reject it because it is too difficult to carry. You simply do not fit in. It is for those of you who have felt the burden of God, and carry it with Him on behalf of another.

Until you understand that some of what you feel is God working with you for the sake of others, you will believe that there is something wrong with you. You need to know that the Lord is asking you to suffer with Him in that specific area, to carry the weight that He is feeling for a specific situation. It will be an intense time and you may need to be alone with Him. There will be a myriad of people in the church who will be delighted to give their opinion, confirming that you have gone nuts. Don’t listen to them. They cannot see and they do not understand intercession.

Teach me to live Your way, Lord,

“Don’t doubt Me! Don’t doubt My Word. Stop questioning what you know to be true. I am in your midst working to make all things in order, even if there is no visible evidence of My presence. I have promised that I would always be for you. I have promised that you are Mine and that I would take care of you. I will never fail or forsake you. You are Mine and I love you. Now go and do what you know to do. Seek Me for My will and then move in the promises I have for you. If you have nothing to do, go find a need and fill it. Be the face of Jesus to someone. It will help you to get your eyes off yourself while I am working in your life.

Ps. 139:7 AMP

Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence?

Matt. 24:35 NIV

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”

Matt. 25:37-40 NIV

37“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’”

Most of us tend to lose sight of what our purpose on earth is when things start to get a little rough, especially when we are waiting for our Lord to move in a certain situation. We start to look inward instead of reaching to others as Jesus did and does for us. We get selfish, think about our own needs; and lose the true perspective of who we are and why we are saved in the first place.

This life is not about us and our needs. God doesn’t owe us a thing, especially a continually comfortable life. In fact, part of His promise to us is that we will have trials and troubles. Jesus did, His apostles did, many saints that have gone before us did. What would make us think that we have any right to a trouble free life? Where in the Word does it say that we are ever to focus on ourselves and our needs? When are we supposed to stop looking out for opportunities to share the wonderful gift we have been given?

“You need to take some steps in the direction of your calling. It is time to set aside your fears, wounds, and excuses and begin to move with what you have in your hand. I will provide whatever else is needed along the way. Take a look around. Why would you think that you have time to sit on the sidelines when there is so much to do?

Your days are cluttered with events that have little eternal consequence. Change that by responding to a need, lending a helpful hand, or assisting someone who is overburdened. If you have no direction, come alongside someone who does. They more than likely have need of what you have. Put aside the fear of rejection. Set the woundedness on the shelf for a while. If you have been unjustly used before, offer it up as a sacrifice.

If you have little skill, use My skill. Start today. There are many people waiting for what you have to give. Look who I’ve placed in your path and move as I tell you to do so. You will be surprised how soon your life will have clear direction and purpose.”

Matthew 5:13 AMP

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.

John 4:34 NIV

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Something needs to be put in perspective. Our lives have been bought with a price. We are not our own. We must have the same priority as Jesus - “to do the will of him who sent me.”

Most of us have our priorities backwards. We have a tendency to place the work of the Lord far behind the needs and desires of our everyday living, when the opposite is the desire of our Father in heaven. His work should be our priority. Whatever else that needs to be done should be fit into what we are doing for Him.

Most in today’s church rely on “those who have been called to ministry” to do the work of God, while lending fragments of time, energy, and resources to assist them. At the same time, most of the church is looking for some sort of revival that will somehow bring an outpouring from the Holy Spirit. We expect it to touch each of us as we sit on the sidelines of God’s plan and help ourselves to major portions of His bounty. Our perspectives are way out of line.

Revival of our hardened hearts begins by holding the hand of someone who has need of knowing our Lord, or by easing the burden of another, or by providing the tools to those who are working, or by coming alongside the fearful, or by helping the wounded, or by feeding the hungry every day, or by clothing the naked, or by praying for our enemies, or by…

“I brought forth life, Who overcame death, so that you could live. His Name is Jesus. He is the Lord of everything! You have the high honor of honoring Him for eternity.”

John 1:1-5 NIV

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2He was with God in the beginning.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

4In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

John 1:10-14 NIV

10He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

11He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God -

13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The wonder of the provision of salvation given to us by God is far beyond our comprehension. Jesus, Who lived in all of eternity past, was born visibly so that we could be born of the Spirit. He then gave His life to overcome death. We must die to this life, so that we can gain a life that is able to live with Him. He lived to die, so that we could die and really live. That’s some pretty astounding stuff!

We are amazed by You and Your Word, Lord,

“You need to periodically recall all that I have done for you, to remind you that My hand is always upon you. You need to remember even some of the little things that appear insignificant, but have great value in your development as a follower of Jesus. You need to build on what I have done, so that your faith will not falter. In the times just before I would have you step out in faith for Me, I sometimes remove tangible evidences of My presence. It seems as if the heavens are brass and that I am nowhere to be found. Although I am always with you, this causes you to hunt for Me in your spirit. It brings a renewed zeal to remain with Me at all costs. It brings a fresh awareness of how close we have become, and how much you rely on that intimacy. It also forces you to turn away from anything that has replaced Me in your heart to supply your required needs.

Once you again become aware of your acute need for Me and your priorities are in line, we can go on. The importance of Our alliance will have been restored in your heart. Your spiritual understanding will once again be in proper perspective. I will be free to flood you with My provision. No one will mistake that where you are about to go has been made manifest by My power. No one will be able to remove the testimony of My presence and My hand upon you. You will look only to Me to supply your required need, not to the hand of man. You will proclaim My glory so that others will begin to trust Me more fully.

Many people are watching you during times of pressure. Many are waiting to see how to follow My lead, no matter how many obstacles seem to be in the way. Few know how to wait on Me to remove them. I have taught you how to turn to Me. When you falter, remember My faithfulness in the past. Rely on My commitment to you and the promises in My Word. Chronicle these days. You will be able to refer to the miracles that I am about to perform on your behalf, the next time your faith is weak.”

Esther 6:1-3 AMP

1ON THAT night the king could not sleep; and he ordered that the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, be brought, and they were read before the king.

2And it was found written there how Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the attendants who guarded the door, who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.

3And the king said, What honor or distinction has been given Mordecai for this? Then the king’s servants who ministered to him said, Nothing has been done for him.

In the last few days, the weight of what is being birthed in the heavenlies had taken its toll on me. Being in an attitude of continuous prayer, I found that I had turned my heart to focus on my needs, instead of remembering the faithfulness of God over many years of ministry. Weariness had set in. As a father with a family, fear kept knocking at my door, trying to distract me from the faithfulness of my Lord.

This message has reminded me of who my God really is. It has caused me to repent of my lack of faith in my loving Father. I spent most of the night paging through my journal, remembering the countless times in the past where He has proven Himself strong on my behalf.

Can you imagine Morcedai, grieving for his people because of the edict that had been sent out against them by Haman? Sitting in sackcloth, his heart must have been broken, his mind completely occupied with the urgent need at hand. Little did he know that God was waking the king in the middle of the night on his behalf. The answer to the impossible situation was being accomplished in the early morning hours, while it appeared as if nothing was happening. The plans of God had been set in motion long before the situation manifested itself. What an incredible God!

Freshly delivered from a spirit of worry, I turn to you with an encouragement. Remember the many times the Lord has fought battles, eliminated foes, and provided miracles so that you could prosper. Remember His faithfulness. Remember His love. Allow His Word to place a renewed confidence of His majesty, beauty, and glory in your heart. Allow the wonder of His might to place all of your minute needs in perspective, comparing them to His ability to speak the universes into existence.

I’m sorry, Lord. Thank you for the memories and the reminders,

Jim Corbett

“Mark those who sit in judgment on you or challenge your authority in Me. Walk away from those who testify only of themselves and their testimonies of how close they are to My Spirit, when there is no fruit of being with Me in their lives. Beware of those who are self-proclaimed prophets, those who boast of their ability to hear My voice for others, when they hear nothing but their own folly, reeling back and forth in the foul stench of their own breath. They are fools who are listening to the leader of fools. I am soon to brand them for who they really are, blind guides heading for destruction. Have nothing to do with them. Separate yourself from them, so that they might come to repentance and be restored.

You ignore their vain attempts to destroy you; and bring forth life from the deep recesses of My heart, pouring it upon those who are in need of life. You spread love to those who hate you. You take the power of My Word and tear apart every stronghold of the enemy of souls so that the lost, lonely, and broken might be made whole. You lower yourself in your own eyes, so that I might be seen by those in need, those who have no vision of My glory. You stand using only My strength, walk using only My power; and speak using only My Words. You become a testimony of the work of the cross and My keeping power to those who carry it for Me to a dying world.

The world is reeling in the weight of their sin and wallowing in their own vomit, totally out of answers. You reveal to them the only Answer, the only way to be set free. You show them Jesus. Bring forth His bright, beautiful life to their dark, useless world. Bring forth the wealth of your relationship with Me. Bring forth My immovable truth. Go forth in My love, in My Spirit. Reach into the darkness and represent My hand of deliverance, My road to freedom. Go now in the power of My might. I am with you.”

Ezekiel 13:3, 6-8 AMP

3Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit [and things they have not seen] and have seen nothing! …

6They have seen falsehood and lying divination, saying, The Lord says: but the Lord has not sent them. Yet they have hoped and made men to hope for the confirmation of their word.

7Have you not seen a false vision and have you not spoken a lying divination when you say, The Lord says, although I have not spoken?

8Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have spoken empty, false, and delusive words and have seen lies, therefore behold, I am against you, says the Lord God.

1 Chron. 29:5b AMP

…Now who will offer willingly to fill his hand [and consecrate it] today to the Lord [like one consecrating himself to the priesthood]?

2 Cor. 3:17-18 AMP

17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).

18And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

The enemy always attempts to divide, distract, and confuse. The Lord is always heading in the direction of saving souls and tending frail sheep. He constantly looks into the darkness, so that people living there will see the light. Once they are in the light, He nurtures, comforts, and changes people into the image of Jesus.

You and I have the astounding privilege of being brought into the light through Jesus. In that light, there is no room or reason to entertain darkness any longer. To do so brings discredit to the cross.

I believe that soon Father God is going to have His life break forth through His people in a powerful way; people who will be a credit to the cross once again. He is going to bring out into the open those who have been in training by His hand of testing.

Having been refined and brought to a death of their previous ways, they will shine in the brightness of our Lord. The dark world will notice them, not only because of their words, which will be endued with the power of God; but also by their lives, which will represent Jesus fully. There will be nothing false, nothing fleshly about them. Their humble submission to the Word of God will testify against the rebellion of those denying the cross.

Have you been in training? Have you lived under the refining hand of the Lord, scorned, laughed at, and misunderstood even by the church? Take courage; you are about to be brought forth. You are about to shine with the love of Jesus. You are about to be called forth to testify of His keeping power. You are about to praise Him with your life. You are about to rejoice in the wonder of your Lord.

Wanting to live only for Jesus,

“I am deeply involved in your life. Most of the time, you cannot see My hand at work or notice the orchestration of events that fulfill My overall plans. At times it may seem as if I have left you because of the degree of pain you are going through. It is vital that you seek My heart during these times, so that you can understand your situation from My perspective. Otherwise you may misinterpret them. If you cannot see My heart, you will miss the whys and reasons for whatever I am doing. You will need answers, rather than trusting Me no matter what happens. You may even become discouraged to the point of cursing Me in your heart, if your portion seems harsh or heartless.

Everything I do is motivated by My great love for you and for others. Everything I do is for My plan to go forth, so that none should perish. Everything I do has an eternal impact. It is never designed to achieve carnal comfort.”

Matthew 26: 53-54 NIV

53“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Luke 12:19-21 NIV

19“‘And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

20“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

Romans 5:3-5 AMP

3Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.

4And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.

5Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.

In my travels, I see so many people who say that they follow after the ways of Jesus, but continually question what God is doing if their world becomes a wee bit uncomfortable. I have also been with people who are even afraid to go deeper with God because they know that the refiner’s fires that will be needed to get them there are too scary from their perspective. In turn, their lives are just a shadow of what they could be from an eternal perspective. They continually hover around the area of desiring to go deeper with God, yet sit on the sidelines while watching others being used by God. Most of them moan about the fact that they are rarely involved with the real moves of God, not knowing that they have hindered Him from using them because of their focus on their own comfort and their fear of being refined.

Never allow my fear to hinder Your hand, Lord,

“You are valuable! I place great value on you, not for what you do; but simply for who you are. Because everything is right between you and Me, you are free to forgive those who come against you. You can love those who need love. You can bask in My love. Your life can become of great consequence once you understand how safe you are in My arms. Sit on My lap and receive the wealth I choose to give you. From that foundation, I want you to reach others. Tell them that they can have the same access to Me that you have. Tell them that I care for them. Tell them that Jesus has provided a way for them to be reconciled to Me. You come to Me to be filled. I love to be with you. I also love to send you to others.”

18That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];

19[That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

1 Peter 2:9 NIV

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God…

In a world that spends most of its time seeking some kind of acceptance, almost any kind of acceptance, isn’t it wonderful that you and I have found total acceptance with Father God through Jesus? Isn’t it also wonderful that we have an answer for those who need to be loved? Not only can we love them because of Jesus, but Father God will love and care for them for eternity because of Jesus. We just need to introduce them to Him!

Help me to understand Your love and then tell others about it, Lord,

“Just because I have chosen to be patient, do not take My warnings lightly. Generations before you have made the mistake of misunderstanding My love. They have seen it as weakness or have thought that I do not mean what I say, because I have not immediately fulfilled what I have said that I would do. While I was waiting for everything to be in order, their impatient and deceitful hearts led them into folly, and they perished. Do not make the same mistake concerning what I have been telling you. Do not think that because I have delayed My judgment, it is not on its way for those who choose to defy Me. My Word will always stand. My will always prevails.

For a long time now, I have told you of a time of horror that is coming in your generation if it does not repent. I have also expressed My displeasure with the coldness of My church in many ways, and for many seasons. I have told those who will listen that they need to lay all other gods aside and serve Me with all of their hearts. Because I have not fulfilled My warnings immediately, do not think that I have forgotten them. In my perfect timing, when all things are in order as I see it, what I have said, I will do. You can count on it. If you have ears to hear, take note of My warnings, and give yourself completely to Me. Seek Me with all of your heart, and you will rise above all the impending horrors that will fall upon those who do not think that I mean what I say, because My love is having its perfect way.

I love you. Come to Me now, before you find yourself without the power to overcome when you need it to survive. Do not misunderstand My delays. My holding back is an act of love, a function of mercy. When I strike against the rebellion, it will be sudden. That time will not be the time to decide to come to Me with all of your heart. You prepare now, so that you can walk in My wisdom and safety, when others flee and hide in horror.”

Isaiah 48:3 NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

Ezekiel 12:21-25 NIV

21The word of the Lord came to me:

22“Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’?

23Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am going to put an end to this proverb, and they will no longer quote it in Israel.’ Say to them, ‘The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled.

24For there will be no more false visions or flattering divinations among the people of Israel.

25But I the Lord will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, you rebellious house, I will fulfill whatever I say, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Mark 4:24 AMP

And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you – and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

What an incredible, patient, and merciful God, warning those who have ears to hear, so that they can be safe! What astounding love!

Off and on, the Lord reminds me of the warnings I have received over the years. In many ways, in different forms, He would have me write them down, publish some of them; and simply hold others until I was released to express them.

As I was waiting on Him, the thought of long delays before fulfillment came to me. It seemed that I was periodically hearing the same warnings over and over. They were said in many ways, but always had the same basic content - one of a strong call to holiness and a turning from serving other gods before impending judgment. Others that I trust were hearing the same thing. My foolish heart wondered if people would tire of hearing the same thing over and over and grow cold to the urgency imparted with each warning.

Recently, the Lord showed me that time as we know it means very little. Those who walked with Jesus felt that He was coming back in their lifetime because they misunderstood the timing of His words. Even though it did not happen when they expected it to happen, that belief kept their zeal alive and showed us, generations later, how to function as Christians. Many prophecies took generations to fulfill. Each one, however, was fulfilled in the timing of the Lord, often very suddenly, catching many unaware.

It is paramount for us to never ignore or minimize a strong, repetitive call, simply because the fulfillment seems to be delayed. The season of birth is indicated by the frequency and intensity of the birth pains; then the birth comes. In the same way, each day and every moment bring us closer to the fulfillment of every promise made by our Lord.

How foolish we would be to think that because He has held back His judgment this long, He does not mean what He says. Even more foolish is the thought that there is a lot of time left for us to turn from our sin because we misunderstand His mercy. History has proven that the Lord warns and warns, and then suddenly, He acts. We need to be ready now. Fulfillment might be today.

“Do not harden your heart because it appears that I have forgotten you. Do not become cynical when you see others living without heavy pressures and you can hardly take a breath without pain. I hold you in your need. When you have completed this refining fire, I want you to understand the pain I feel for those who are so lost that they feel they have no need of Me. I want you to notice the dangerous position they are in and care as Jesus cares for them.

You are being trained to have compassion for others who have forgotten their need of Me and learning to delight in My will being done in their lives. Don’t give up! Press in to Me. I am with you!”

Romans 8:9-17 NIV

9You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

10But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

11And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

12Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.

13For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live,

14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

2 Cor. 1:8-9 NIV

8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.

9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

We forget that after we come to Christ, we are being formed to allow the life of Jesus to be lived through us. When Jesus walked on this earth, He was showing us all how to live. He had the ardent desire and the God-inherited freedom to be deeply in love with His Father and with everyday, ordinary people. Most of those whom He loved freely, and therefore touched the deepest, didn’t have a clue as to who He really was at first. They only knew deep down in their hearts that this special man who lived in their midst somehow loved them in a way that they had never been loved before. It was a love that contained a mysterious kind of power and they wanted to find out what that power was.

Seeing His bright-eyed, mouth-open kind of happiness when they were healed or delivered, people knew He had something special to give them and that He was probably worth following, at least long enough to learn more about Him. When He put His hands on and embraced the outcast, or when He intimately contacted the lonely, chastised leper - something that just wasn’t done in His society - He was viewed as being noticeably different. When He laughed and bear hugged in the wonder of the healing moment with that same lower element of society, He broke their stony hearts and planted a new kind of hope in their souls.”

“What is your legacy? What are you leaving behind as your life’s work? I am not talking about bank accounts and buildings. I am talking about those you have touched to further My kingdom. Will anyone continue with My work because of your work with them? Have you instilled the desire to further My kingdom in anyone? If not, why not? What is stopping you? Why are you not investing in someone? It is why you have been given a chance to know My will. When will you start fulfilling your legacy?”

Matthew 5:13 AMP

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality) how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Father God is developing a bridal heart and the same character that Jesus has in those who will respond. We must be like Him in our hearts if we are to intimately walk with Him and live passionately for Him. Can you imagine Jesus coming for a church that is selfish, self-centered, and harbors murder in her heart?

Can you imagine Him enjoining Himself to one who looks to the delicacies around her that please her more than He pleases her? Does it seem possible that Jesus would function in a relationship where His bride would not have the same desires, the same motives, and the same purposes in all that they do together? To think so is ludicrous!

“Do you know that you are different? Really different? First of all, in My eyes, there is no resemblance between you and anyone who has not chosen the Lord as his Master. Since I see in the spiritual realm, I can easily distinguish those who have chosen Me as their Father, and those who still belong to the father of lies. Both of you are designed to live for eternity with your fathers, and are custom-designed to be there. You adapt easily to your new homes when it is time.

Of course, these homes are as different as you, their inhabitants, are. Yours is more magnificent than you can now imagine. Theirs is horrible beyond belief. Because you have been designed to live among others like you, I desire you to be with each other now.

Do you know that by interacting with each other as My children, it is making your inner being strong? You need to draw upon My Spirit whenever your interactions with those like you bring challenges your way. Each of you has the seed of My Spirit within you, so as you choose to act like My Son toward each other, you will grow. When you don’t choose to act like Him, there are setbacks in your spiritual wealth.

To you, these setbacks seem inconsequential. I, however, observe the great harm that is done to My plan. You also further the kingdom of darkness by remaining far from My light. It is time to realize how different you really are and then walk in that wonderful difference with Me. Start now. Let My Word and its promises inhabit you. I will then inhabit the praises that rise from you who are Mine as you help each other grow toward Me.”

2 Cor. 5:17 NIV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…

James 3:13-18 NIV

13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in humility that comes from wisdom.

14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.

15Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.

16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

18Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

Whenever we study marriage, the covenant, or the church, a basic understanding of what God uses to change us is essential. Among the many things He has in place to make us more like Jesus are two institutions. One is marriage, and the other is fellowshipping with other believers. In fact, the institutions of marriage and the church are directly established by God.

When we enter marriage and the church properly, one reason they exist is to function as refiner’s fires for each participant. God placed restrictions on both to encourage the participants to “dig in and work things out,” instead of fleeing when challenges come. People refine one another and make us seek the Lord for answers. Each time we choose His answers instead of the answers that make our flesh comfortable, we become more like Jesus.

The most miserable people I’ve seen are those who submit to no one. Listening to only their own answers and opinions, they eventually find themselves bankrupt of any spiritual wisdom that can be found through the honest consideration of other believers.

If you find yourself becoming bitter toward the body of Christ, or have separated yourself from continuous fellowshipping with other believers, you are on the road to destruction. That is not God’s way. He uses the physical interaction with others to develop the spiritual maturity that’s needed to represent Jesus properly.

We are spiritual people in a physical world. We are designed to be trained and prepared God’s way, not ours - and certainly not the world’s way. The world follows their father, who loves to entangle, fight, and eventually separate hearts one from another. Our Father goads us to forgive, serve, and develop Christ-like character through challenges caused by others.

“So many of you are seeking after answers that have no real purpose. So many foolish hearts are turning to find reason for your lives in areas that allow you to remain in charge. If only you would listen to the truth. If only you would understand that My Word is the answer for you.

There is a heavy price for rebellion. The time for preparation will soon be over. I will implement My Word and create hard choices; life and death kinds of choices. Pride, arrogance, and deceit will abound to stumble those who have chosen to go the route of selfishness. At that time, many can still turn from such foolishness, but that turning will soon cost you everything.”

Ja. 4:7-10 AMP

7So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.

8Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

9[As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins].

10Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

When I was in the service, there was one guy - a member of our squad in basic training – who thought he was above the system. In his foolishness, he believed that he could fly through the process and not have to go through the rigors that were part of that training. He decided to fake a bad back, and boldly told some of his friends about his plan, even pointing to them as fools if they did not do something similar.

I remember one particularly hot day, while our squad was doing some of the countless push-ups that were our plight; he came up to the fence with a grin on his face, basically to gloat over his freedom. He had been made a courier. His job was to deliver messages all over the base. When he wasn’t doing that, he sat in an air-conditioned office waiting for his next assignment. To those of us who would have given anything to get out of the hot Texas sun, it looked like we were the fools; and even though his life was a ploy, it looked pretty plush compared to ours.

Upon graduation from basic training, while we were getting ready for the ceremony - donning our dress Blues and feeling quite complete because of the training that we had endured - we heard that the courier had been told that his basic training would start in six weeks. Obviously, he was not the first to pull that “bad back” stunt. Because of his foolishness, he now had to wait six weeks after we graduated to begin his eight week training course. I remember standing in rank, ready to move on and seeing him walk by our squad with a message for someone. He had lost his bravado. In fact, he was down-right sullen. Our training in Christ is very important to God. He wants each of us to be able to represent Him properly, so that the world can see the love of Jesus and embrace that love. We are to be the example of God’s standard and Christ’s freedom to everyone.

Sometimes, when we are in the throes of rigorous training, others look like they really have it made. Therein lies the deception. Satan would love for us to envy those who look like they are prospering, especially when our toil seems fruitless to us. We need to flee from those thoughts and dig in with the Lord. We know what is right to do. To do anything other than submit to our Lord is foolishness, no matter how hard the training to be like Jesus is. He submitted to the ultimate sacrifice for us. We have the privilege of sacrificing our lives for the good of others.

Time to quit faking the “bad back” in any area in which the Lord wants me to be trained,

“Live the life that I have given you out loud. Take the highest road that you can in full view of others. You can be sure that they are watching you, as soon as you call yourself by My Name. Observe the life of Jesus. His life was broadcast to every corner of His world. Everywhere He went, people had to make choices. They had to examine their own lives and then decide who they were going to follow.

You are ordained to do the same in your world. That does not mean that you call attention to yourself or become visible. It may mean that your strong voice may resonate from your secret prayer closet. Make the most of the call I have on your life. Become bold about Who you believe in. Rejoice that you have been given a real purpose for living.”

1 Cor. 11:1 NIV

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

Eph. 5:8-11 AMP

8For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [lead the lives of those native-born to the Light].

9For the fruit (the effect, the product) of the Light or the Spirit [consists] in every form of kindly goodness, uprightness of heart, and trueness of life.

10And try to learn [in your experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [let your lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him].

11Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead [let your lives be so in contrast as to] expose and reprove and convict them.

I once knew a person who continually testified of himself. Most of his conversation heralded his humility, proclaimed his faith, and testified of his spiritual wealth. As loudly as he could, he proclaimed how spiritual he was to anyone and everyone who would hear. What was so amazing was that nobody ever listened. In fact, because of the bankruptcy he exhibited, no one listened to anything else that he said.

I once knew a person who spent countless hours in the Word and in fellowship with her Lord. At any gathering, she would position herself in a quiet corner of the room, interacting lovingly with all that were present. She radiated the love and presence of the One who was most important in her life - Jesus Christ. Holding no formal position, having little worldly education, pastors and prominent leaders would wait their turn to spend moments with her to receive quiet words carried for them from the lap of the Lord. Churches, major corporations, and countless lives were changed and enhanced from the quiet interaction that heralded the presence of Jesus with an astounding spiritual volume through this humble saint.

“What are you doing about the extremely difficult times that are on the crest of your horizon? Why have you not heeded My warnings and prepared properly? You act as if your world could never change. You pray that it won’t because you desire to remain comfortable and fear losing those things that are safety handles for you. Your security remains in the things you have and the walls you have built to fortify your lifestyle. They all could be gone in a heartbeat. What will you do then?

In times past, those who did not heed My warnings joined the plight of the uninformed and fearful. They suffered the fate of those who only knew of Me rather than those who had intimacy with Me. That is not what I desire for you. I need you to know Me intimately so that you can point others to Jesus when their world falls apart, instead of falling apart with them. That doesn’t seem to matter enough to you to do whatever it takes to walk in wisdom now instead of remaining asleep. I need for you to wake up. You can respond to My call voluntarily, or I will change your heart through hardship for your benefit.”

Jeremiah 12:5 AMP

[But the Lord rebukes Jeremiah’s impatience, saying] If you have raced with men on foot and they have tired you out, then how can you compete with horses? And if [you take to flight] in a land of peace where you feel secure, then what will you do [when you tread the tangled maze of jungle haunted by lions] in the swelling and flooding of the Jordan?

John 19:11 NIV

Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above…”

Phil. 3:10-11 AMP

10[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

Most of us get angry at God when He shakes up our little world, or we blame the devil for difficult times when they enter our lives and remain long enough for us to think that God has forgotten us. Few of us take the time in our panic to deliver ourselves from whatever has disturbed us to consider that our plight may be the hand of God conforming us into someone He can use to bring others to Christ. We would rather fight against a perceived enemy than submit to His desired change in us.

Even minimal observation of the world around us points to loud voices – connected to evil hearts that desire their own way with no consideration of those they hurt - becoming more prevalent. Good is now interpreted as evil and evil is heralded as good. Reason falls way behind anger. Lust has replaced honest love. Might, when powerful enough, impacts the lives of everyone involved.

God will always have a people who will not be caught unaware. His people will be prepared for anything and stronger than everything that stands in His way, because they have made their God the only priority in their lives. With eyes and hearts that look only to Him, no power on earth or in the heavens will defeat children of God who are intimate with their Father God, any more than it could defeat Jesus. Read the above verses in Philippians 3 to see the formula for overcoming.

I choose You as my priority, Lord,

“You need to destroy all the idols that remain in your life, tear down every altar used to worship other gods; and walk away from every temptation that allows you to harbor sin. Once this is finished, I will be able to move mightily through you. Until it is accomplished, you will have little strength to stand, and little desire to overcome those things that stand in the way of Our fellowship.

The idols that you have overlooked have forced you to squander precious moments of the life that I have given you. They stand in the way of My allowing you to receive hidden manna. They hinder you from seeing My Word clearly. You need to be finished with them. Look away from them. Turn toward Me in everything you do. I will show you where they are. I will give you the strength to destroy them. I will hold you until you are strong enough to stand without them in your life. Together We will rejoice as they are nullified. You will be free. I will be able to use you.”

Joshua 7:13 AMP

Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel. You can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction].

Isaiah 30:21 NIV

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Does it not make sense that the weaknesses in our land are due in part to the weaknesses in the church? Since each of us joined together comprise the church, I believe it is fair to say that we each contribute to the weakness that is in our land through our own weaknesses.

I realize that we are to do everything by the power of our Lord and not in our own strength. I also realize that when I harbor any sin in my life, I am incapable of coming close to the Lord until it is removed. Our Father is asking each of us to look for those strongholds that we may still be holding close, the ones that have become so familiar that we do not even recognize them as strongholds any more. He wants them out of our lives, so that we can take that next step to holiness.

There is a move of the Lord at hand. He is planting the desire for holiness in His people. That desire stirs up the willingness to join with our Lord against anything that would hinder our relationship with Him. The maturity of aggressively joining Him in the search is vastly different than when we were young in Him. Then we were tight fisted with our sin until He did what was necessary to pry open our hands to release that sin. Now we are to join Him in finding it.

Help me find them fast, Lord,

“There is no limit to My love for you. There is no price too high for your companionship. I have already proven that. Soon, you will see how important your life has been. Soon, you will understand fully why I chose to do things in the way I did. Remove the limits of your love. Open your heart completely to My ways. I have given you My all. Now you do the same for a little while longer. You will be amazed at how much impact you can still have.”

Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV

6For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Isaiah 38:17 NIV

Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.

Isaiah 46:9-10 AMP

9[Earnestly] remember the former things [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God and there is none like Me.

10Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand and I will do all My pleasure and purpose.

Yep! It’s about a whole bunch of stuff - much, much bigger than our cravings and infinitesimal desires. Plans far beyond our comprehension are being implemented every moment of time. All we are asked to do is our part and that, only by the power of God.

For some unknown reason, you and I have been included in the magnificent plans of the Creator of all things. To Him, our lives mean something. Our days are important. His investment in us is way beyond our comprehension. We really need to take our eyes off our small, daily world and get involved in what Jesus is doing around us. Just because!

“Remember when I told you that you can’t give away what you do not own? The opposite is true also. You cannot own what has not been given to you. Ownership is such an incredible concept in My kingdom. Jesus owned nothing because He chose to give away all that He had, so that you could have everything. You are now asked to give everything away, if you desire to possess all the treasures of heaven. When your heart is empty of any desire, other than to possess whatever cannot be yours unless it is given to you by Me, I will fill it with Myself. When that happens, all that I am and all that I possess become yours. It becomes yours to give away.

This is not a game; it is a wonderful principle that is beyond carnal understanding. Enjoy it with Me. Ownership in your earthly world causes you nothing but bondage. First, you strive to gain whatever it is that you desire to own. Then you walk in bondage because you fear losing whatever holds your heart. Ownership in My kingdom is exactly the opposite. The single possession of My Spirit is everything that you will ever need. When it is yours, however, your only purpose is to make sure that others receive it.

By your new nature, you must give it away. It is the nature that Jesus possesses. Seek to rid yourself of all desires that have value in your world. Receive My heart so that you have riches enough to share with everyone you meet. I will then give them the heart of Jesus. They will then have everything, so that they are free to own nothing.”

I John 4:16-18 AMP

16And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him.

17In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completeness and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world.

18There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].

While I was writing the above message, I felt a joyous, almost playful, spirit. It seemed that the Lord was having fun presenting what at first glance seemed like the “foolishness” (in the eyes of the world) of His ways in comparison to the foolish ways of the world. In reality, however, the wealth of the concept of godly ownership versus earthly ownership is astounding. It is the epitome of love.

Someone who walks in God’s kind of perfect love owns nothing for himself. It is the heart of Jesus as He endured the cross, so that each of us could be separated from our sin, which separated us from God. Owning everything, He willingly gave everything away in heaven and then on earth in order for that to happen.

If we would examine our lives, we would discover that whenever we have a fear of any kind, it has to do with the prospect of losing something that we own; or more accurately, something that owns us. We fear losing our possessions, our health, our freedoms, and even our lives.

Jesus functioned in such perfect love that He willingly gave all of His life away. The leaders and the rulers of that time couldn’t take His life, because He had already given it away long before they even met Him. All of their power had no power over Him, because He functioned in a realm where true power was exhibited - not through ownership, but through love. No one can kill a person who is already dead.

In these times, the world understands fear, and people use it against each other to maintain control. What is not understood is true love - not the foolish interpretation of love that suggests weakness, but the overcoming power of God’s kind of love. We, as Christians, are not only free from the wrong kind of fear of God, but we can also be free from all the fears of the world if we choose to function in that love. Sometimes it will look like we have lost because of the way we love; but in reality we have won, just like Jesus did.

Needing to function in God’s kind of love,

“Do you fully understand the changes that are happening all around you? If you look past your fears and the lies of the world, you will see that they are My hand of promise and My refining fires of change.

For some time I have been calling My people to prepare for a time when they will need to really know Me. That time is just on the horizon. For some of you it is already at your door. Do not think that the answers that the world is searching for are the answers I will allow you to partake in. You need to look only to Me. My Holy Spirit will point you to Jesus and His ways. The more you become like Him, the less the world and its fears will be able to touch you.

I need a people who will do more than just survive in the coming times. I need valiant warriors for the cause of Jesus, people who love as He does and are willing to live as He did in your midst. I want you to be used. Submit to Him this day. Overcome what is happening now, and prosper in the times ahead.”

Matthew 11:12 NIV

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”

Acts 4:29-31 NIV

29“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.

30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

We are in the habit of protecting our comfort zones. We spend our lives building and maintaining. When what we have begins to slip through our fingers, we cry and call out for help from our Lord. “Please keep me safe from harm,” we say.

All the safety handles of life are being shown for the fleeting, false security that they always have been. The only real safety is in Jesus. Once we know that, and own it in our hearts, we can be used to do the will of our Father in heaven. He desires that we care nothing for our lives, what we own and what owns us, and really care for His desire that none should perish.

From the looks of things, things are well on their way to being exposed for what they are. Darkness is now being called light, and the real light is laughed at and criticized for being darkness. Those who are walking in the light of Jesus are being called blind and foolish.

At the same time, there is a panic in the hearts of those who have counted on the world and its ways to give them a sense of security and worth. All is falling away. All is becoming hopeless. They need to be given the real answer. His Name is Jesus.

Jesus is now asking you and me if we choose to cower in the darkness with those who cannot see, or desire to bring His light into those places. Are we going to really step into our calling as children of a powerful God and take His answers to those who need Him, or are we going to hide in hovels that have no safety?

Make my light brighter, Lord,

“When will you begin to understand how precious each moment is? In your daily planner, have you noted to take the time to tell your mate and your children how much they mean to you? If you are a father and husband, when was the last time you laid hands on your wife and children and gave them a blessing? When was the last time you took the time to reflect on the wonderful people that I have placed in your life?

With those questions in mind, what do you think you will wish that you had done more of when your life is almost over? Will you wish you had done more “things,” or will you desire to take back and redo the moments and opportunities you missed with those you love and those who love you?

This very day there is probably someone you could touch deeply with a word of encouragement or a letter expressing your love for them. Don’t miss the opportunity to bless someone. I would like to tell you how much you mean to Me. You are valuable, and I love you.”

Romans 1:8 NIV

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.

Philemon v.4-5 NIV

4I always thank my God as I remember you in my prayers,

5because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints.

Merry and I would like to thank each of you for who you are and who you are becoming in Christ Jesus. We feel privileged to connect with you under the Lord’s umbrella. It encourages us tremendously to know that there are people all over the world who desire more and more of God, as the world moves farther away from Him. To be called your friend is an honor that we cherish. We do not take lightly what the Lord is building between us. You are valuable! May the Lord bless each and every one of you.

Thank You for these friends, Lord,

“I cherish every moment We get to share together. I have formed you to be with Me. Jesus has restored Our lost relationship that ended because of sin. Now things are as they were intended when Adam was first formed. Come to Me any time you need Me. Come to Me when you are lonely. Come when you hurt. I will always be there for you. I love you.”

Gen. 1:31 NIV

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Psalm 46:1 AMP

God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

Isaiah 40:1-2 NIV

1Comfort, comfort My people, says your God.

2Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

In the Isaiah verse above the phrase “…has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins” used to confuse and frighten me until someone explained what the “double” meant. In times past, when someone had a debt he couldn’t pay, he would post his debts on the most prominent part of his property for all to see.

Part of the custom of posting your bills on the front gate was a practice known as “the double.” This meant that everyone who saw the posting had several choices they could make. A person could pass by and ignore the need; or he could fold the paper from bottom to top - in essence “doubling” it - meaning that he would take on the debt as if it were his own and pay it for the other person.”

When God gives His double, He forgives completely. When He gave us our “double” at the cross with Jesus, all separation from Him was paid in full. We are now free from all debts, sins, and separation, fully restored to our intended place with Him.

I praise You, Lord,

“Do you know that I have faith in you? I have faith that you will become all that you are supposed to be in Christ. It’s true. Faith in Me, and what I have done for you through Jesus, is the cornerstone of your life. But too often you forget that I have faith in you. I have supreme confidence that everything that needs to be accomplished in you, to complete My plan for your life, will be accomplished. You can count on it.

First of all, I know that My love is so strong that you will never leave Me. Because you will stay, I will always continue My work in you. Next, I will never give up on you. No matter how many times you fail, I will always bring you back to Me. My holding power will cause you to turn from your sin every time you fail and eventually renounce it for good. Finally, I know the beginning from the end of your life. I have formed you in the womb, I have birthed your new spirit; and I have orchestrated your completion process.

If that is not enough for you to rejoice, I also choose to bless you. I have placed My blessing on your life. Think of it. You have been called. You are being formed into completion, which means that you are going to eventually represent My Son properly. Plus, you are blessed in your comings and your goings because you are Mine.

From this day, I ask you to stop worrying, and start living your new life in Me. Have faith in My faith. I have My hand on you, I love you. My faith will sustain you. Receive My blessing and live My life in you out loud.”

Hebrews 13:5b AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

Isaiah 51:1-2 NIV

1Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn;

2look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was but one, and I blessed him and made him many.

I often think about the heroes of the Bible. I think of Abraham, Sarah, Noah, Deborah, the Prophets, the Apostles, Paul, those who died in the arena; and so many more, too numerous to count in fact. Often I focus on what they did and lift them in high esteem, probably much higher than they would desire. When I lift them up, I am forgetting one very important thing. They didn’t do what was done. God did it in them. He called them for that specific time, completed His plan in them; and then blessed their lives. His faith, working and dwelling in them, allowed all things to happen.

In their day, among their friends, I’m sure that few, if any, ever thought that we would be modeling our lives after theirs. Their daily failings, their very human doubts and their questioning attitudes, more than likely clouded their ability to believe that they would ever really amount to anything. What most of them - like most of us - probably forgot to enter into the equation of their lives was the promise of God to empower them. Without it, we would never have heard of these heroes of the faith.

God has not changed. He is still in the business of making ordinary people into extraordinary followers of Christ. Should the Lord tarry, someone will be observing the lives of Jenny, Joe, Bob, Alice, Doug, Sue, Joanne, Ted, and so on and so on. They will see the necessity of following Jesus, because they will see Him in them and you. Father will have done it once again!

Submitting to His hand, so that Jim can be in there someplace,

“Few of you fully understand the posture of waiting on Me. I don’t mean waiting for Me, although that is part of it. I mean waiting on Me. It is an attitude of the heart that, if cultivated, will change your life forever. Once fully implemented, nothing will be able to hinder the freedom and joy that will be part of every moment of your life.

Waiting on Me is the life posture of allowing all things to be completed in the heavenly realms before you act in the physical. It is the confident expectation that I will accomplish every need on your behalf. It is the full assurance that what I have said will come to pass. It allows intimate fellowship between you and Me without the hindrances of fear, impatience, or questioning of My motives in anything that We are doing together. It is the intimate heart interaction that Jesus showed all the while He was with you. It is a true union of Spirit between you and Me. It is available to you for a great price. It will cost you your independence, but you will gain your freedom.”

Matthew 26: 53-54 NIV

53“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

John 4:34 NIV

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Matt.16:19 AMP

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful ) on earth must be whatever is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.

John 5:19-20 NIV

19Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does...”

At times, many of us consider a time of waiting to be unproductive, so we tend to move in anticipation of the answer for which we are waiting. In this walk with the Lord, that is called “doing it in our own strength.”

The will of God for each of our lives was set in motion long before any of us were even born. If we were to consider our fellowship with Him our priority, we could be basking in His love while He orchestrates our next move; then moving in His power to accomplish it, confident that the outcome will be His will.

Set me free by keeping me close, Lord,

“Never lose sight of the fact that I have chosen you. First of all, I have chosen you to spend eternity with Me. I have decided that you are to represent Jesus where I have placed you in your world. I have directed your friends, your family, and all those you will spend your days with to you. If that seems strange to you, think of all those you read about in My Word. They made their decisions, but I ordained their steps.

I do the same with you. Events, people, situations, and all timeframes do My bidding. Everything is in order so that My Word is fulfilled. You still have choices; but I am continuously changing your heart, so that you make wiser moves. Delight in My ways. I will make your steps sure.”

Proverbs 16:9 AMP

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.

Proverbs 20:24 AMP

Man’s steps are ordered by the Lord….

Jeremiah 10:23 AMP

Oh, Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that [the determination of] the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.

Our Father in heaven guides us, directs us, blesses us, draws us, protects us, loves us, helps us, and directs our steps. Wow!

Thank You, Lord,
