“If you have decided to follow hard after Me, I will separate you and call you aside. Few will understand your life. Few will identify with the seasons that I take you through. I will always provide fellowship for you, but you will not always be able to go where most go or do what most seem to be allowed to do. I can’t train you in the din of fruitless activity.

I need to separate you, so that you can hear My voice. Understand that I am changing your priorities. I am creating a longing for My presence in you and equipping you for your calling. Soon, I will be your only desire. Soon, you will crave My fellowship above all other needs. Eventually you will have the heart of Jesus. It is an important work that I am doing in you.”

Matt. 14:22-23 NIV

22“Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.

23After he had dismissed them, he went up into the hills by himself to pray.”

Phil. 3:10-11 AMP

10[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11That if possible I may attain to the [spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

For many years, Merry and I have wondered why we could not do the things that the church in general does. We found ourselves not desiring to go to parties or attend functions that didn’t focus on the things of God. Most of the time, we couldn’t participate in frivolous conversations. Most of the time, we had little to say when talk turned to events or worldly ideas.

Eventually we were no longer asked anywhere. Often we longed to fit in. Often we tried to fit in; but we couldn’t and even felt a need to repent of our need to belong. Sometimes we left parties early just to be alone and talk about the things of God. We were weird ducks and in all likelihood, it was difficult for people to know what to do with us. We didn’t know that we were in training for what we are doing now.

Now that we’ve met many people just like us all over the country, we no longer feel alone. We realize that many people are longing for the heart of Jesus and desiring to be equipped for their calling. Many are being trained and changed. Many are looked upon as weird as they sell out to Jesus - probably just like you, if you get this newsletter.

I want to be weird if it pleases you, Lord,

“Who in the land is out to prove Me faithful? Who has made it their goal to glorify My Name? Who is willing to pay any price for the privilege of carrying My Word to a cold church and a dying world?

I have many who say that they will; but over and over, when the pressure gets too great and the trials become too intense, they turn away unwilling to pay the required price for My anointing. What most do not know is that they were on the very threshold of breaking through to victory. Most never knew what they could have done with Me, if they had only withstood the pressure a moment longer. I would have poured everything that I have and everything that I am into them, just as I did with those who remained faithful in My Word.

Where would you be if Paul had given up because of the pressure put on him? You, My remnant, need to understand something. My anointing no longer comes cheap. There is a great price to be paid if you want My presence on what you do. Most of those you know will not be willing to pay the price. I know that, so I am eliminating them by bringing fiery trials into their lives, so that their true nature will be revealed.

Those who overcome will soon move in a power that has been unavailable to My church for some time. Those who fall away because of the pressure will never know what could have been. You need to decide how important My presence is to you.

Do you wish to remain with those who are remaining in an old anointing, or do you crave to be with Me in what I am doing in these end times? If you choose to move with Me, it will cost you everything. Are you willing to pay the price?

Before you answer, you had better count the cost. If you choose My better way, I will be your ever-present Lord. The world will know that Jesus dwells in My people, because they will see Him once again in you. Does that mean enough to you to submit to whatever it takes to carry His Name in that manner? If it doesn’t, move aside now. Step out of your calling and be put aside during this time.”

Exodus 33:13-16 NIV

13“If I have found favor in your eyes, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15Then Moses said to him, ”If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Acts 21:12-13 NIV

12“When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.

13Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Can you imagine Jesus stopping short of the cross because it was too difficult? What if Paul had deemed that the cost of his ministry was too high? What if either of them, or the countless others who have been raised up for specific moves of God throughout biblical history, had refused to pay the price to accomplish their calling? Where would we be?

Except in the case of Jesus, I’m sure that the Lord would’ve found someone else to accomplish the task at hand; so what about the ordinary guys like us who refuse to pay the price? Can you imagine facing our Lord, knowing that we refused Him because we thought our challenge was too difficult?

At this moment, our Lord is calling out a remnant of sold-out believers. Because of the task that will soon be before them, He is presenting increasingly difficult trials to them to expose their level of commitment to Him. His anointing will not come cheap to this generation any longer. These fiery tests will help to develop a rock-solid commitment in those who embrace all challenges presented. Conversely, they will eliminate anyone who feels that the price is too high.

Each person who had an impact on his or her generation was raised up for that specific time. Every one of them was faced with the same decision that we face today - to do what they were called to do, or stand on the sidelines while the Lord accomplished His will through someone else. We hear about, read about, and pattern our lives after those who said “Yes.” Those who refused, well…

Let that not happen to me, Lord,

“Do you know that I like every one of My children? I know that you can possibly comprehend that I could love you as some sort of obligation on My part, but to comprehend that the Lord of the universe likes you is possibly a little much. Well, I do! I not only love you, I like you! I like being with you. I enjoy hearing your every thought, your every need. I really care about the things that you care about. You are the reason that I have done everything that you read about in My Word. You are My hope for future creations.

Come and talk with Me. Let Me know what concerns you or makes you happy. I like being with you.”

Ps. 139:1-3 AMP

1O Lord, you have searched me [thoroughly] and have known me.

2You know my downsitting and my uprising. You understand my thought afar off.

3You sift and search out my path and my lying down, and You are acquainted with all my ways.

I Peter 5:7 AMP

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

The thought of the Creator of all things liking us does seem a little much, doesn't it? Everywhere in His Word, however, it does point to a glorious God Who is preparing people for a time when they will spend eternity with Him. Maybe we should try to grasp the concept of our Lord liking us. It would sure make prayer time a little more wonderful, wouldn't it?

Thank You for loving and liking me, Lord,

“Be awfully careful of losing your first love for Jesus. Make sure you guard your heart, so that the things that He desires remain the desires of your heart. If you allow the busyness of your world to intrude on the important issues of your heart, you will soon lose the perspective that Jesus has. You will become self-focused. You will become uncaring for those who are perishing. You will become weary in well-doing. You will become cold to the issues that are important to Me. You will go days at a time and never weep for one soul.

It is a dangerous place to be. Make sure you never go there, OK? If you are already there, turn around before it is too late. Turn before you become so cold to the ways of Jesus that you care little if He is glorified in your life or not.”

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them,

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls and [thinned their numbers by] disease and death.

Haggai 1:7-10 AMP

7Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways (your previous and present conduct) and how you have fared.

8Go up to the hill country, and bring lumber and rebuild [My] house, and I will take pleasure in it and I will be glorified, says the Lord [by accepting it as done for My glory and by displaying My glory in it].

9You looked for much [harvest], and behold, it came to little; and even when you brought that home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because of My house, which lies waste while you yourselves run each man to his own house [eager to build and adorn it].

10Therefore the heavens above you [for your sake] withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its produce.

We live in a society that hates to lose or settle for second best in anything. We also despise paying too much for anything. We will search the globe for the best deal on whatever we choose to purchase, squeezing pennies from a retailer so that we can have the satisfaction in our hearts that we did not get taken.

What amazes me is that we don’t even seem to care that we are being ripped off each and every day when it comes to the things of God. We settle for scraps from His table, because we won’t spend enough time with Him to participate in the things that He considers important. We live a mediocre life in Jesus, when the intimacy He has with His Father is available to us. We dabble in the things of the world, when we are called to live in the heavenlies. We fret and worry about fleeting issues, and set aside eternal wealth without giving a thought to what we have squandered. We are daily being ripped off by the enemy of our souls and seemingly never give it a thought. How foolish!

Teach me to value what is truly valuable, Lord,

“The life you live brings credit or discredit to the work of Jesus and the cross. Most people think that when they achieve much or gain much that they are being blessed abundantly. That is not necessarily so. That is not how I judge your credentials. You bring credit or discredit to the work of Jesus by how much you truly look like Jesus.

Do you love as He loves? Do you care about My plans as He did? Are you laying down your life for others as He did? In how many ways are you like Him?

Even though you may appear to be a successful Christian to others, even though you fellowship regularly, even though you do and say the right things, you will eventually bring discredit to the cross if you are not continually submitting to the power of the cross to change your life. If you do not have My interests as your priority, if your heart is not on its way to becoming like the heart of Jesus, you have missed one of the main reasons He died. That is not good!”

I Sam. 16:7 AMP

But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as a man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Hosea 4:6 AMP

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge…

Matthew 26: 53-54 NIV

53“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

54But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

At a very crucial time for Jesus, He cared more that the Scriptures were fulfilled than He cared for His own life. How close to that kind of heart are we? Do we even give thought to the Word of God being fulfilled in our lives?

Have we ever really understood that those in the world knowingly and unknowingly scrutinize our lives and determine in their hearts how powerful the work of the cross really is? If we don’t exhibit continual change as we grow in Christ, they walk away and attach little importance to what Jesus did for all of us.

Make my life a credit to You, Lord,

“Do you see how ready you are to shoot your wounded rather than stand with them? Do you see how you judge one another, malign the name of a fellow believer, and condemn him before the world without even a hint of regret? Do you see the jealousy, strife, gossip, and misuse of My Word that prevails within My house?

I place an anointing on someone’s life and you grit your teeth against him. You have jealousy toward those who walk closely with Me and hate them for that relationship, rather than doing what it takes to come closer yourselves. When one of your brothers or sisters is accused in front of you, you run and hide behind your religious mask, instead of standing up for him and with him against the accuser. You are willing to believe the worst in your spiritual family rather than finding the truth, so that you stand as a united front against the sin of the world. Instead, you harbor the same sin, and greater sin because you know better; but choose to remain where you are.

You lie to one another, hold grudges, and are willing to take each other to court rather than be wronged and bear it for the sake of My Word. I am about to spit you out of My mouth if you do not repent of your foul sin and start acting as Jesus would act towards one another. You are fools and are making a laughingstock of yourselves while the world watches and goads you on, watching you play one against another and harm each other. You carry the stench of the world on your garments. You hold the unholy in your heart. Instead of preparing for a marriage celebration with Jesus, pressing your garments and making sure that they are prepared for the day you will need them - that soon coming day - you gleefully soil them in My presence and think that I don’t notice.

Understand this: if you are not prepared for marriage when it is time to be married, you will not be able to eat at the marriage table with those who have been making preparations all along. You will remain outside the chamber. No amount of pounding on the door will open it at that time. You have chosen to dwell with the vile and unholy. I will then use them to cleanse your garments. They will display the same mercy toward you that you are showing at this moment. Repent now, and honor My Name and your family as you once said that you would.”

Matt. 25:1-12 NIV

1“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

2Five of them were foolish and five were wise.

3The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.

4The wise, however, took oil in their jars along with their lamps.

5The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet Him!’

7Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.

8The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

9‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

10But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

11Later the others also came. ‘Sir! Sir!’ they said. ‘Open the door for us!’

12But he replied, ‘I tell you the truth, I don’t know you.’”

Eph. 4:29 AMP

Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.

Before you put on your spiritual boxing gloves and pick up your “doctrinal defense” arsenal, listen to the heart of what is being said. Don’t miss the intent and heart of the message because you believe a certain way about the tribulation, or where the coming of the Lord fits into the timeline of the church. Granted, those are mighty important issues, which have had the attention and caused differences of opinion among scholars for thousands of years. Those differences of opinion, however, would almost not even be worth discussing if every heart was in constant readiness, waiting only for the return of Jesus, no matter when He comes back.

Father God is purifying His church. He is calling each of us to an account of our actions and our true heart motives for all that we do. How we act toward one another clearly indicates how pure our hearts are and who we are actually following.

In the study of the churches in the book of Revelation, there is a mixture of right and wrong in most of them. It shows a people doing some things right in the Lord’s eyes; and at the same time, they are out of line with His heart in other areas. Strong expressions and pretty harsh measures are indicated for those who did not choose to line up with what He considers important. Whether we agree as to who those people are and how those churches fit into the sequence of the life of the church is secondary to the concern each of us should have for the concerns that the Lord has about the purity and holiness of His people.

There is no question that we are living in times very much resembling the times described at the Lord’s return. How ready are we if these are those times? How close do we resemble a waiting bride? How much are our hearts in line with every aspect of the heart of Jesus? Why would we even think that we are close to Him, if we grow closer to the ways of the world each day? We, as a church, need to turn from the path we are on, and head back in the direction of the heart of our Lord.

Turn my heart around, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Did you know that you will never find a better friend than I am? It’s true. Yes, I am much more than that, but one of the aspects of My nature is to be a true friend to My creation. My commitment to you is stronger than your sin. It is not lessened in any way by your actions. It is not even hindered by your inability to love Me back. In fact, there is nothing that you can ever do to stop Me from loving you.

You need to finally rest in the fact that I love you with an undying love. I will always love you. I will never leave you. I will forever protect you and hold you close. My love is not diminished when I need to correct you. In fact, when there is need for correction, it is My passionate love for you that is behind My actions.

I know that your ability to fellowship with Me will be minimized if I allow you to remain in your sin. That is not the best life you can have, so I need to use My ways to cause you to change your ways. When I am working in your life, understand that I am not only addressing the need for change; but I am also responsible for giving you the power to change. Your job is simply to understand My love for you and embrace what I am doing. I will do the rest.

Never doubt that it is My love for you that is in operation, no matter what you are going through. Embrace Me through any kind of trial. My love for you will always pull you through.”

2 Samuel 14:14b NIV

“…But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

If there is one Bible verse that gives me an awesome, wondrous picture of the nature of God’s love toward us, this verse in 2 Samuel is it. If you have any doubt about who God is and how much He loves you, study this verse until it is part of your innermost being. You will never fear again.

God does what it takes to bring us to Himself. He pursues us. He woos us. Then, if we still will not embrace His love, He causes circumstances in our lives that are designed to make us notice Him. If that doesn’t work, He will allow us to fall, so that we need Him. If even that is not enough, He will break us so that we cry out to Him.

Finally, more than likely after many years of this kind of pursuit, we are His. We are, however, raw and incapable of understanding His love. So the process continues over and over and over again throughout our lives on this earth. He shows His love continually because of His knowledge of what it takes for us to surrender. If we do not know how to accept it, He will do what it takes for us to see it.

Over and over He calls us to need Him. If we will not accept that call and desire to remain in charge, separate from His authority, He begins the process of breaking us all over again.

We want to be strong and very religious. He wants us only to need Him. We want to be full of ourselves and capable of handling anything that comes our way. He wants us to be empty and needy, so we can embrace His strength. In our trials, we doubt His love, when it is His love that may be allowing the trial that is bringing us to the end of ourselves.

I love His love for us. I love the way He continually confirms it to us by eliminating anything in us that will not serve Him. What an incredible love!

Wanting more of His hand on me,

Jim Corbett

“You delight My heart. I sometimes simply observe you while you go about My business, guarding you, protecting you, and providing a way for you when there is no way. It pleases Me to have you with Me for eternity.

When your portion of time on the earth is over, I will welcome you into heaven with all of My heart. Until then, fight the good fight. I am with you. I cherish you and I am pleased to be called your ‘Abba’.”

Genesis 1:27-28a AMP

27So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28aAnd God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]…

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

There is no God like our God. There are no people more privileged than those who have embraced the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, and have the wonder of open access to a loving Father.

I remember seeing a cover of a prominent magazine, which pictured some dignitaries sitting in front of the desk of then President John Kennedy. Under the desk, little John-John, who was about two at the time, was playing at his father’s feet. To the dignitaries, the President was “Mr. President.” To John-John, he was “Daddy.”

“I choose to bless you. I choose to invest in you, because I know who you are becoming. You are valuable, not for what you do, but valuable because My value has been placed upon you. Walk with Me through the rest of your life. We will overcome everything that comes to hinder you and I will teach you what you need to learn. You will make it. That is My promise. I am with you.”

Hebrews 13:5b AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

When I think of how many times I place my value on what I do - or even more so, on what I have done - I forget God’s perspective and His promises. What seems real to me during those times is, in actuality, absolute foolishness. I praise God that He never changes. His promises are always for us. His devotion is always toward us. Thank You, Lord.

“Are you cherishing those I bring into your life? Do you realize that I love them very much, no matter what condition they are in? I send them to you so that they can get a closer look as to what Jesus looks like. Do they see Him in you? Do they have more of a desire to serve Him because they have been with you and you have shown the wonders of His person?

That is why you have been called into My kingdom. You have not been called to be with Me so that you can be well-fed and satisfied. You have been called so that My plan can be furthered. Begin to see your life and your purpose for living through My eyes. You will be amazed at how patient I have been with you.”

22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’

23Then, I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

Matthew 16:22-23 NIV

22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

23Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Out of my sight, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

A self-serving gospel is dead religion masked in spirituality. It is another gospel, not the gospel preached by Jesus. So many Christians today think that they are living according to the will of the Lord, when He has long ago bypassed them and is using those with open hearts who long to do His will.

“Do you remember that I own every beat of your heart? What if I were to call you home today? Would you have fulfilled My desired plan for you? Would your life have been of consequence? You really have a choice. You can do many great and not so great things. You can look to others as if you had a deep relationship with Me because of your many activities. But I know. I know if We have spent enough time together for you to fully understand My will for your life. I know the difference between good activities and anointed steps guided by My heart. Come to Me now to learn of My purpose for giving you more beats of your heart. Come and allow Me to make your life of great consequence.”

Proverbs 16:9 AMP

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.

Proverbs 20:24 AMP

Man’s steps are ordered by the Lord. How then can a man understand his way?

Isaiah 2:22 AMP

Cease to trust in [weak, frail, and dying] man, whose breath is in his nostrils [for so short a time]; in what sense can he be counted as having intrinsic worth?”

If you were to take all of the imaginations of mankind, all of the wealth, knowledge, and power of all of the men and women that have ever lived and combine them, multiplied by one million to the millionth power, it would not compare to the wonder of one moment of God in His ordinary (for Him) daily activities and interactions with us. With all that our Father God is and has and has done, His heart has favor toward the opportunity He created for those He formed from the ground of the earth to be in association with Him.

This love association is an unparalleled drama that has overwhelmed the mind of the scholar, disgusted the heart of the bigot, softened the heart of the needy, and filled to overflowing the heart of the child. In all of the wonder that is our God, the most amazing aspect, which has baffled mankind throughout his time in existence, is the well-put phrase in the Book of Psalms, “Who is man that you are mindful of him?

“Foolish hearts and lying tongues cannot be part of your association or interaction one to another. Both must be far removed if you desire My presence. You must consider the horrible impact of these acts. A foolish heart minimizes the importance of those things that are important to Me. It denies biblical truths and sways others to live for themselves, not for the glory of Jesus. A lying tongue kills the truth. It murders the wealth of My Holy Spirit, separates My children, and destroys the trust, one to another, that is needed if you are to move with Me.

Get rid of these elements in your fellowship. Get rid of them in your heart. Get rid of them in your association with Me, so that I may use you to touch others. I require you to walk in integrity with a steadfast heart. Come to Me in repentance as you see any sign of these attitudes in your life. I will gladly remove them from you. They must be out of your life before we go on.”

Joshua 7:13 AMP

Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel. You can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction].

Jeremiah 15:19 AMP

Therefore thus says the Lord [to Jeremiah]: If you return [and give up this mistaken tone of distrust and despair], then I will give you again a settled place of quiet and safety, and you will be My minister; and if you separate the precious from the vile [cleansing your own heart from unworthy and unwarranted suspicions concerning God’s faithfulness], you shall be My mouthpiece…

Col. 3:9-10 AMP

9Do not lie to one another, for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices.

10And have clothed yourselves with the new [spiritual self], which is [ever in the process of being] renewed and remolded into [fuller and more perfect knowledge upon] knowledge after the image (the likeness) of Him Who created it.

A fool says in his heart that there is no God. Any degree of foolishness that is within us decreases our ability to see our Father for who He really is. The more foolishness there is, the less we appreciate the magnificence of God.

A lie is as deadly as murder to any life in Christ. Satan is the father of lies.

So, let’s see…we lie to one another and harbor foolishness in our hearts by looking to the world for truth and comfort. Not a real good testimony.

“Delight yourself in Me. Make Me part of those things that mean much to you. Cherish the values of Jesus. Pattern your life after His life. If you do these things, your heart will cherish the things of His heart. It will hold them dear. With the same heart motives as His, your requests to Me will be in line with My Word and My heart. You can then rest assured that your every request will be fulfilled, for I know it will further My kingdom.”

Psalm 37:4 NIV

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

I John 5:14-15 AMP

14And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.

15And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.

Few of us remember that everything we do is supposed to be about God’s desires, His plans, and His will. Many times we attempt to make this Christian walk all about us and our desires and plans. God becomes this bottomless well from which we can draw. He is a gift giver, protector of our freedoms, and maker of our prosperity. Foolish teachers even make dead end doctrines - which are heralded by the selfish and accepted by the immature - out of our need to have our lusts fulfilled.

Once we understand and accept the Lord’s way, we become free. Our prayers come in line with God’s ideas. Our needs become focused on how they can further the Lord’s work. The desires of our hearts change. Our motives become pure. We ask for ways to become more like Jesus. We crave tools to help others. The things of the world fall away, pale in comparison with the things of God. All of our hearts’ desires are fulfilled, sometimes without even asking. God fulfills them because they are in line with His heart. He is a Father who gives good gifts./p>

I want Your heart desires, Lord,

“If you are My child, We will be walking through many different seasons together. You can count on it. There will be overall seasons that orchestrate the coming of My Son. There will also be personal seasons to refine, change, and develop you into the very image of His character. You will become as the perfect, waiting bride because of the work that takes place in you during these seasons.

The overall seasons began at the time of My creation of your world. Everything has been put in order to bring My creation to the completed salvation process. You are living in the very end of the time before I call all things to be fulfilled. It is then that the season of future eternities will be implemented. You are very much a part of that season also. You will be used as My instruments during that time.

I need to have you embrace your personal seasons with zeal. Understand that you must go through each personally-tailored season, so that you become exactly who I have designed you to be. If your season is particularly difficult, please know that I understand your pain and that I am with you through it. If you are in a season of rest, please know that I love you enough to refresh you before you embrace the next refiner’s fire. Fires bring forth the perfection. They will become increasingly intense because I am about to require much of you. Anyone who is not going through seasons of refinement has long ago been put aside. I love them very much, but they have some time ago halted the deep refining work in their lives. It grieves Me, but I honor that.

Those of you who feel as if I have lifted My hand from your life, that I am not answering your prayers, that I don’t seem to care - you are very, very wrong. The opposite is true. It is because you have given Me freedom to do what it takes to fulfill My desires in you that you are now in deep training. You have responded to Me as My Son did. I am very pleased with Him and I am very pleased with you. Keep submitting and trusting; I am with you.”

Zech. 13:9 AMP

And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined and will test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, and I will hear and answer them. I will say, It is My people; and they will say, The Lord is my God.

Rom 8:29 AMP

For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

Rev. 3:19 AMP

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

My thumb is wrinkled from sucking on it like a baby during particularly difficult refining times. In seasons of rest, I sometimes forget the object of my life and take my eyes off the goal. I then run back onto the lap of my Lord the minute things return to the “normalcy” of refinement. Sometimes I forget that the reason that I am living is for God’s reasons.

When I remember that I have been bought into a family that has a mandate to love deeper and care more about someone else’s desires than my own, everything becomes clear. My life is not my own. That’s for real.

Having said that, I realize that it’s going to take a lot to bring me to a place of consistently letting go of my own desires. There will have to be difficulties that I can’t overcome, challenges that are bigger than I am; and trials that make me cry out in agony. Why, I’ll have to be hemmed in on all sides at times, so that I can’t move. It will be important to go down some dead end roads, where perils await me. There must also be times when I feel so alone that it’s physically painful, just so that I cry out for help to the One who bought me.

Obviously, the picture is clear. We have only one purpose in this life. It is not our own. It is to submit to whatever influence that the Lord decides will change us and make us more like Jesus. We should even do it joyfully, knowing how much it means to our Lord. The more we squirm, procrastinate, and decide not to submit to His hand of purpose, the more we proclaim own rebellion. We lie and lie and lie, even to ourselves, making believe that our life is of importance in some other way.

Wanting to really admit where my values are placed,

Jim Corbett

“Don’t you think that I would love to give you everything that you would like from Me? Do you for one moment believe that I do not see your need and desire to meet those needs with all My heart? I would! You see, however, we have an agreement. You have agreed to allow Jesus to be Lord over everything that you are, all that you own, and every situation in your life. I have agreed to conform you into the image of Jesus. Those two commitments are working together to accomplish truth for your life.

You have no ability to become anything other than what you have always been. You need Me to change you. To do that, I place you in situations, bring people into your life, and allow hardship to come your way to carve away at the person you used to be, in order to allow room for your new inner being to come to the forefront. I am never far from fulfilling all your desires. Before I do that, however, your desires need to be conformed to those of Jesus. When that is accomplished, it allows you to fulfill your commitment to Me and My promise to you. It is allowing everything to work together for good.

Is it not time for you to stop asking Me only for things? Those will all come as you grow up and I am able to send them your way. Begin to work with Me and allow My promise to come to pass in you. You will be amazed at how delightful your life will be. Be assured that I will keep My promise to you. While I am doing that, I am helping you to keep your commitment to Me.”

Romans 8:28 NIV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Ephesians 3:16 AMP

May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].

Sometimes our “life” becomes so big in front of us, that we forget what our reason for breathing really is. We have been born into the kingdom of God to serve. Jesus has authored and is finishing our faith through what has been and is being done because of the work of the cross and the open grave. Father God is completing us to be a proper representation of that work.

During times when the process of “carving” becomes particularly intense, I have difficulty remembering that it is commitment, motivated by intense love on the part of our Father in heaven, that is at work. I forget what this life is really all about.

Thank You for always remembering, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Don’t limit Me because of your fears! Don’t hinder My life flowing through you, because you refuse to give up your hold on the life that once was yours. You are no longer that person. You have been born anew.

The new life that was given to you when you surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus fully accepts My spiritual gifts. It desires the truth in Jesus. It desires My presence. It is in training to function for all of eternity with Me. Do not limit access to Me by your fears. Seek truth. Confirm truth with My Word; then flow in it. Receive the power and might of the Holy Spirit in your inner man. Become strong in Him!”

Ephesians 3:16-17 AMP

16May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].

17May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,

We miss so much of God when we walk in fear. Most of our fears are accepted by other Christians who live in fear themselves. If we took the Word of God at its face value, it would dispel any questions we have regarding how we should be living our lives. It would be very clear to us that we are to live as Jesus lived, being fully committed to the Father’s plans, placing no restrictions on how the Father desires to work in our lives. Any fear that stops us from living Christ’s life each day causes us to miss so much and limits us to standing on the sidelines of the wonder that has been provided for us.

Forgive me for my fears, Lord,

“Love each other as I have loved you! That is not a suggestion, but a necessity if you want to be in My perfect will. I love you so much that I have given you access to My heart without restriction. I have given you Myself through Jesus. I have also given you mercy, grace, and absolute forgiveness through Him. Love like that! It is My way. It is required of you if you say that you follow Jesus.”

Exodus 33:13 NIV

“If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

2 Chr 16:9a NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

If you say that you are a follower of Jesus, you have a life pattern to follow. He lived in a very visible way, so that we could live that way also. We have been given His very life within us, so that He can actually live His life through us, if we surrender fully to Him.

Why is it, then, that so few people recognize Jesus when they see us? Why don’t people want to live for Him and follow His ways, if His ways are so evident in our daily activities and relationships? God’s Word has never changed. Jesus certainly hasn’t changed. Maybe it’s us! Maybe we are saying that we are followers of Jesus, but we really follow our own desires for living.

Teach me to follow Your ways, Lord,

“You need to walk in truth. You need to speak truth in love. You must receive truth when it is presented to you, no matter how it offends your flesh. Repent and come back to My truth. Most in My church tolerate sin in their midst and are afraid to confront sin for the sake of false peace. They are afraid to offend the one who brings lies and a false representation of who Jesus is. They are afraid to approach the preacher or so-called prophet when error is proclaimed as truth. That offends Me! It leads My children astray. It must stop.

I am about to expose. I am about to raise up My heralds who have been trained at My hand. I will bring forth those I have held close through refiner’s fires that were designed to make them Mine in every area of their lives. They now live truth because they desire to live as Jesus lived in His world, focusing on those things that matter to Me. They don’t simply talk about others or attempt to correct the world. The world does not understand truth. My church needs to do so.

Confront sin in My church in love. Start with your life. Make sure that you know what is life and what is death. Know how to express truth when it is needed to those who claim to be Mine. Do not fight wars of the flesh with those who have eyes to see but will not see, or ears to hear but will not hear. Make sure that you love as Jesus loved, and then live His life of truth for His glory and for the sake of others.”

II Chr. 7:14 NIV

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Jeremiah 2:13 NIV

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

Hosea 4:6 AMP

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge…”

Expressing truth is not a license to condemn others. It does not give us the freedom to demand that others walk as we do. It is not accomplished by holding the sin of others before the world. God-ordained correction and expression of truth is done in private, one-on-one with the offender, and only after much prayer. If that does not accomplish God’s purposes, only then is it taken further within the church, according to God’s Word. It is always for the sake of the healing and restoration of the one in error. It must follow the order established by God.

The Lord is correcting His church. He is using those who hold the reputation of Jesus in highest esteem, and live out His compassion for others and their well-being before God.

Examine my heart, Lord,

“Few of My children choose to fully dedicate themselves to Jesus and the gift that We have given them. They willingly take the benefits of what has been accomplished at the cross, but rarely accept the responsibilities that are associated with them. Examine your heart. Do you care about the things that have eternal value as your priority? Are you conscious about the times and seasons in which you live to the point that you have modified your lifestyle to tell others of the urgency of each day? Have you sacrificed your comfort areas, so that others might find out Who Jesus is? Do you really know Who He is yourself?

Those questions are only the beginning of what you might ask as you take the time to find your real motives and reasons for the choices you are making. I do notice what takes place in the hearts of those of you who say that you are Mine. I note who is responding to My call to holiness. I welcome your desire to press into intimacy with Me, to gain My heart and understand My desires. It is why you have been called. It is why I have given you breath.”

Joshua 24:15 NIV

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

II Chr. 16:9a NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Proverbs 29:21 AMP

He who pampers his servant from childhood will have him expecting the rights of a son afterward.

Amos 3:3 KJV

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

So many foolish things are being done in the Name of Jesus that it is clear that little time is spent to really know what His heart is. Representatives of His Word maneuver people for their own gain. Representatives of His life attempt to maneuver God to pad their comfort areas.

Jesus went to the cross so that we could accept God’s way as our way. It is the highest calling and the most astounding privilege. Whatever gets in the way of our conforming to His plans and to the image of Jesus should be cast aside as the horror that it really is. We represent Him. We will be held accountable for what we do in His Name.

“How have you responded when I have called you to do something for Me? Have you done what I asked you to do? Have you followed through with what I placed on your heart, no matter how hard the task might be? You should know that all of my requests are tests, so that you can see if I can trust you. I am asking you to be faithful with small amounts, so that I can trust you with much more.

Do you see how important it is for Me to have people I can rely upon? As times become more difficult, those who have learned to follow my heart without question will not be distracted by the peril all around them. They will be obedient no matter what. Learn to be obedient to My heart now! Learn to follow through with what you are called to do, no matter how hard it is for you. There is much need! There is much to do! I desire to use you. Learn to live My way now. I will be able to use you in a greater capacity then.”

Matthew 25:14-30 NIV

14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them.

15To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

16The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his money to work and gained five more.

17So also, the one with the two talents gained two more.

18But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

19"After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them.

20The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. ‘Master,' he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.'

21"His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

22"The man with the two talents also came. ‘Master,' he said, ‘you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'

23"His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

24"Then the man who had received the one talent came. ‘Master,' he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.

25So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.'

26"His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?

27Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28" ‘Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.

29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

30And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'”

Obedience to the heart of God is very difficult in the beginning. It takes a determination to decide to do things God’s way rather than our own. What is amazing, however, is the fact that the more we respond positively, the easier it gets. In fact, after responding to the Lord with many “yeses,” it becomes a wonderfully fulfilling lifestyle. We eventually cannot fathom living without doing His will and work. It becomes as important as food and water.

Become my food and water, Lord,

“I desire that you comfort those who grieve. Stand with those who mourn. Be a friend to those in need. You own My life-giving power. Invest it in those who need My presence in their lives when they are too weak to call upon Me themselves. I will be available to them because of you. When they have no strength to be strong themselves - when there is nothing left in them, when they have no power to come to Me on their own - you carry them to Me in prayer. You point them to My love and mercy. You help them bear the weight of the sorrow that is upon them. Be a friend. Be their advocate as Jesus is yours.”

Exodus 17:12 AMP

But Moses’ hands were heavy and grew weary. So [the other men] took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side and one on the other side; so his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

II Cor. 1:3-4 AMP

3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement),

4Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.”

Some time ago, I found out that my very good friends had lost both of their sons in an accident. Their loss was beyond my comprehension. Their grief was overwhelming. When I talked to them, all I could do was cry with them and promise to hold them up in prayer. My heart broke for their loss. They not only needed the strength of the Lord, but they needed the strength of others to help them make it through that time. Everything else we do as Christians is hypocrisy if we do not walk with others through times like that, being strong for them when they are too weak to bear the weight of their grief. It is the priority of Jesus to be an advocate on their behalf. It is the way that our Father has called each of us to walk.

“My mercy and grace flow abundantly toward you whenever you wound Me with your sin. You see, I know the danger you are in because of your separation from Me. Repent! Turn from your sin. You do whatever it takes to come close to Me again as soon as you can and as often as you need to do so. When you need My forgiveness, it should be your priority to seek it. I promise to do My part and forgive you. Make sure that you do yours by coming to Me in repentance.”

Romans 2:4 NIV

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?

Acts 24:15-16 NIV

15…and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

16So I strive always to keep my conscious clear before God and man.

I Th. 5:24 AMP

Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].

I have sinned more since I met Jesus than I did before I gave my life to Him, because I now know what sin is. There were times in the past when I would fall at my Lord’s feet in hopeless despair, sick with my sin, only to find Him mercifully calling me to come to Him and rest. He would show me the cross, His Word, and His promise of forgiveness. Most of all, my God would show me His mercy and grace. He was and is so kind and so forgiving, that over the many years of continued offense and the responding continued forgiveness, my desire to separate myself from Him because of sin is far overshadowed by my desire to no longer offend Him - all because of His aggressive kindness toward me.

Thank You for Your extended mercy and grace, Lord,

“I will always be with you. You are at the very center of My heart. When all things around you seem as if they are out of order, I remain the same. When there is no hope from those who are in authority, I have plans to make you prosper with My kind of prosperity. As you give yourself fully to Me, you have set in motion My plans for you. My plans for you are eternal. They are designed to give you hope and a wonderful future. Submit fully to Me now. Surrender every area of your life to Me without reservation. You can trust Me.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 18:10 NIV

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Isaiah 2:22 AMP

Cease to trust in [weak, frail, and dying] man, whose breath is in his nostrils [for so short a time]; in what sense can he be counted as having intrinsic worth?

Isaiah 30:21 NIV

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying “This is the way; walk in it.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

What an astounding gift to have a Father who has all things in His grasp, who determines all things and cares for us with a loving heart. As a loving Father, He continually provides all that we need, both seen and unseen.

The next time you feel you have gone too far or failed Him once too often, remember His promise to never leave you. He looks at your heart. If it is turned toward and seeking Him, His heart is turned toward you.

Turn my heart toward You always, Lord,

“Jesus lived a passionate life. He involved His entire being in every task presented to Him. Equipped from Our time together and empowered by Our Holy Spirit, His presentation of truth caused some remarkable changes in those who came near to Him. Ordinary people went on to do extraordinary representations of My desires because they followed His pattern of living.

That same presence is available to you. The same Holy Spirit that lives in everyone totally committed to Our way is available to you, if you will only surrender fully to Him. Choose this day whom you will passionately serve. Choose each moment to submit fully to the Lordship of Jesus over every aspect of your life. Determine to live the kind of life that is your heritage. Become zealous about presenting the Truth to a world that lives in lies. Live as Jesus did.”

Psalm 111:2 NIV

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

Isaiah 2:22 AMP

Cease to trust in [weak, frail, and dying] man, whose breath is in his nostrils [for so short a time]; in what sense can he be counted as having intrinsic worth?

Matthew 11:12 NIV

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”

Acts 17:28a AMP

For in Him we live and move and have our being…

Rom 11:36 AMP

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it).

When was the last time you became passionate about the Lord’s plans? For that matter, when was the last time the Lord’s plans for your life took priority over the other demands of your life?

God is clearly requiring each of us to make Him our priority. Still, most of us agonize over the demands of simply living out each day - paying the rent, providing for food, etc. To stop, even for a day, and spend it entirely with the Lord should He ask us to do so, would be a gift beyond comprehension for some of us. I believe that the answer is heart commitment.

I believe that each and every one of us must make a choice to live Christ’s passionate life throughout our every very ordinary days. We are to approach with zeal the tasks and the people placed before us, presenting every one of them as an offering. I am convinced that this life is not so much about what we do as it is about the One for whom we are doing it. If everything that we become involved in is truly offered to the Lord and placed under His Lordship, the fluff will fall away and the eternal purposes of God will become priorities to us, changing us and those around us who are looking for answers.

Take my stuff and replace it with Your stuff, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“You walk in unforgiveness and still claim to be My vessel of service. How can that be? Forgiveness is what the cross of Jesus is all about. He died so that you could be forgiven. Forgiveness is what you have received so that We could talk. Forgiveness is what you are counting on when you stand in front of Me on that last day. Would you like to be given the same forgiveness that you have given others, especially those close to you? That is what will happen unless you change your heart. Forgive as Jesus did. Forgive as you have been forgiven. Don’t think that I am with you in anything you do until you have forgiven everyone who has harmed you. Come to Me; I will help you!”

Matthew 5:23-24 NIV

23“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,p>

24leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”

The root sin of unforgiveness is pride. Because that is rarely recognized, it is never really dealt with as such; and we evade submitting the root sin to the total Lordship of Jesus Christ. Anyone harboring unforgiveness toward another has, in essence, determined to hold that sin (real or imagined) over that person and has chosen to be the “lord” of that incident or grieving situation. The dominance and control exercised by the unforgiving party denies all that was promised to God when he/she committed to the Lordship of Jesus in all areas. This area, therefore, remains under the dominance of Satan. Pride caused him to be expelled from the presence of God, and he is delighted when we follow his lead in any area of our lives.

If God has forgiven the person who has offended you but you won’t, are you not telling Him that your position is loftier than His? In light of the truth, that’s not possible, is it? What do you need to do at this point?

God demands that we forgive if we desire to be truly free. He even shows us, in Luke’s account of the crucifixion, that Jesus forgave all those who harmed Him; and also the repentant thief just before he died. We must do the same.

Unforgiveness, although often deeply masked by wounds, scars, and self-pity, is one of the greatest causes of weakness in the body of Christ and it will cripple any attempt to draw close to the Lord if left unconfessed. Once this main stronghold is acknowledged and confessed, a tide of healings and freedoms are able to surface and it can be brought under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Help me forgive everyone, Lord,

“Since the days of Jesus, My kingdom has come upon the earth. What are you doing to further it? What kind of life are you living to proclaim Jesus and have My Word go forth? As Jesus sent His people forth two by two to that generation, I am sending you. I call you to heal the sick. You are to bring life to those who are dead. Do not worry about your life for it is hidden in Christ. I will provide for you. My hand is upon you. My heart is for you. My Holy Spirit is with you. Fear nothing for you are Mine.”

Matthew 11:12 NIV

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”

Luke 10:10-11a NIV

10“But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into the streets and say,

11a‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you.’”

Luke 10:17-20 NIV

17The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”

18He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

19I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.

20However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

When some of those, who had been sent to proclaim that the kingdom of God was manifesting in that generation, came back, they marveled at the power they had been given. Jesus had them refocus on the importance of who they were in Him, rather than on what they were able to do.

Each of us, who belong to Jesus, has the astounding privilege of furthering God’s kingdom in our generation. There is no more important task available to all of mankind. What we do for our Lord with a pure heart will testify of our love for Him during our lifetime.

As important as that is, who we have become is far more important than what we do. Have we taken up our cross, His cross? Have we given all that we are willingly, so that He can live His life through us? Have we exchanged our priorities to own His priorities in our hearts? Have we emptied ourselves of our own interests to take on His heart of love in all that we do?

Jesus lived, died, lived again, and then left so that His life, loves, and heart motives could be reproduced over and over again by the power of the Holy Spirit in each of us who call Him our Lord and Master. None of us, however, are called to give away what we do not own in our hearts. Those who are looking for the truth of God’s Word will not listen to those who talk of Jesus, yet do not reflect Him in their words and actions.

Make me like You and send me forth, Lord,

“You are wise when you fully comprehend Who I am as God. It is the beginning of life for you. Until then, it is impossible for you to have what is needed to live the life of Jesus in your world. I am willing to show you deep truths from My heart. All you need to do is come to Me with an open heart. Humble yourself. Acknowledge that you do not have all the answers. Ask for truth. Strive for intimacy. Make Our time together a priority in your life. I will show you Who I am. I will also reveal who you really are and how important your life is to Me. That is a good thing.”

Psalm 25:12-14 NIV

12Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.

13He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.

14The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.

Psalm 46:10 NIV

Be still, and know that I am God...

Proverbs 1:7 NIV

Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

James 4: 8-10 AMP

8Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

9[As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins].

10Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

As you grow in Christ, you must learn to joyfully embrace a life of repentance. Delight in what God is doing in you as you are shown who you are not. Understand that you are still very welcome in His presence. You are a deeply loved work in progress. Submission to the changes the Lord is making in you develops your ability to present Jesus to the world, which is your heritage and God’s original plan for your life. He knows who you are and everything you are not. Real heart changes are needed in all of us and can only take place when spending quality time with Him to know His heart, and looking to Him alone for all things.

Teach me about You, Lord,
