“When all the systems of men fail, I am there. When the places of safety disappear, I am your strong tower. I will always be there wherever and whenever you have need of any kind.

I ask you this! Why would you wait for all of your worldly resources to fail before you call upon Me? Why would you not build Our relationship now so that We can overcome and prosper when times are difficult, instead of simply solving immediate needs?

I am interested in a long term relationship. Jesus has provided access to My inner chamber any time you come to Me in His Name. Why would you wait until you are in distress? You miss so much. You miss so much of what We can have together. Come now! Don’t wait until your panic limits Our intimacy.”

Psalm 3:1-6 AMP

1Lord, How they are increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.

2Many are saying of me, there is no help for him in God. Selah [pause and calmly think of that]!

3But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

4With my voice I cry to the Lord and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause and calmly think of that]!

5I lay down and slept, I awakened again, for the Lord sustains me.

6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.

Psalm 20:6-7 AMP

6Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

7Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.”

For many years I thought of God as being off in the distance somewhere, too big and too busy to have time for someone like me. Only after the Lord showed me how much that kind of thinking offended Him was I able to understand what the cross was all about. Jesus died so that you and I could have access to our heavenly Father. He lives to interact with us on an intimate level. Yes, He is Lord! Yes, the Godhead is holy! In spite of that and because of that, Father God has provided an immeasurable privilege that is given to us once we have surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus. He has given us the covenant right to come close to Him. Incredible!

Teach me who I am in You, Lord,

“May I tell you one of the wonders of Our relationship? I am always with you! I understand that you have heard that saying so often that it has lost its real meaning, so please listen with an open heart. The work of the cross accomplished many wonderful things. Some are so wonderful that your mind cannot comprehend what they are, so I am not going to share them with you until you are with Me.

One completed work that you can understand, however, is the fact that I became near to you once again because of what Jesus did. Spiritual law separated us before the cross. That law has been fulfilled in Christ and now We have free access to one another. That means nothing can separate us again. This fact makes the difference between you being limited to your miniscule, human limitations, and having full access to My boundless, spiritual nature. I now reside in you. You have been made alive in your inner being by My Holy Spirit. I bring My world to your world through you.

If you ever really comprehend what that means, you will never again choose to dabble in the limitations of your world. You will become a study of the cross to find out what has been provided for you and why I have provided it. You will seek real wisdom and flee from listening to your old, selfish nature, which limits your perspective. You will rejoice in Our relationship as I flow through you with wonders that have limitless, spiritual impact on everything and everyone with whom you come in contact. You will be free in a world that continually attempts to place bondages on you. You will be able to rise above every limitation because of the freedom that I have given you.

I am with you, in you, and for you. Come to Me and allow Me to show you how wonderful that really is!”

Ephesians 3:16-19 AMP

16May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].

17May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,

18That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];

19[That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!”

This spiritual stuff often gets confusing and far beyond my comprehension if I try to figure it all out with my pea brain. My mind gets so cluttered that I almost become immobilized with it all. That is why my mind is not the place to discern spiritual things. That is also why most of the body of Christ gets bogged down with contentions, judgments, and disagreements. We are trying to grasp the spiritual with our carnal minds. It doesn’t work.

Because of our acceptance of the work of the cross, we have become spiritual. Our bodies are dying daily, but our spirits have been made alive. Our inner man - the spiritual person that we really have become - comprehends, accepts, and thrives on things of the Spirit. It has been made alive through Christ, and will continue with Him throughout eternity. That is where we should allow ourselves to be guided daily by the Holy Spirit within us, not in our thinking and reasoning abilities.

At times, I am almost immobilized by my inabilities. I look at those around me and sometimes become hamstrung with who I am not, in comparison to who they appear to be because of their worldly presence and achievements. To my mind, and by the world’s standards, I am a failure. In those times, I realize that my incapability is exactly what drives me to God’s capabilities. He is my power. He is my dwelling place, my real life - not what I see and feel.

Needing to function much more in my spiritual parts,

“Do you see that as you respond to My call to spend time with Me, the ways of the world are becoming tasteless? At the same time, you are cultivating taste buds for the desires of My heart. The closer you come to Me, the less appeal the world and its ways will have. I plan it that way. I would have you observe, however, that fewer and fewer people in the “business-as-usual” church will desire to be with you as these changes take place.

As We spend time together, you simply lose interest in going where they love to go; so they fall away. If your heart’s desire is to spend time with Me, if you choose Our time together rather than looking for frivolous entertainment, if you love to seek My desires over yours, you will find yourself on the outside of most activities.

Fewer and fewer people will desire to be with you. Since you really have no use for their ways, it will be freedom for you. It will remove clutter from your life. Make Jesus your best friend. The closer you come to Him, the more time you will be spending with Me. It works well!”

II Chron. 15:15 AMP

And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him [yearning for Him] with their whole desire, and He was found by them. And the Lord gave them rest and peace round about.

Ps. 51:6 AMP

Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart.

Hosea 6:6 AMP

For I desire and delight in dutiful steadfast love and goodness, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of and acquaintance with God more than burnt offerings.

Mark 4:19 AMP

Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.

Gal 5:16-17 AMP

16But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

17For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.

Rev. 22:17 AMP

The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty [who is painfully conscious of his need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened]; and whoever [earnestly] desires to do it, let him come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost.

The call to intimacy is not heard by many. It is a call that might appear to the uninformed as one that leads to loneliness, when the opposite is actually true. It is freedom.

The world and the cold church scurry to find ways to be entertained and fulfilled, rather than be with God. It is a plan of the enemy to keep them so busy that there is no time for them to have the intimacy with our Lord that is intended for us as His children.

People delightfully find replacement gods to serve at every opportunity. Most of these false gods take the form of “blessings.” The hard-of-hearing saints buy bigger and crave more “things” from God, rather than more of God. The result is that they must work harder to pay for whatever it is that then owns them and their time. Countless fellowships, Bible studies, activities, more activities, meetings, and more activities consume days; and when overdone, also destroy the desire for more of God.

Marvelous things happen, however, when you respond to the call of holiness and head for the bridal heart of Jesus. Your world becomes quieted, because your first desire is to spend time gaining intimacy with your Lord. Your tastes and desires change. You change. Ultimately, your friends change, if you have any left. Your world is freed up to honor the things that your Lord and best Friend cherishes. Most of the time, you will do it only with Him. That is a good thing!

You design my world, Lord,

“In whatever you put your hand to, always leave room for My presence to amplify your blessing. Never allow others to think that you have accomplished what I have increased. I am a jealous God. Make sure that you take no glory for yourself or I will curtail the flow of blessing until you repent. I have set you in position so that you will prosper. Keep your heart in line with Mine. Move in boldness when I tell you to move. Keep your eyes on Me. I will give you My kind of increase.”

Deut. 1:6 NIV

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.”

2 Chr 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Psalm 111:2 NIV

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

Psalm 127:1 AMP

Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it…

Proverbs 16:9 AMP

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.

The Lord impressed me to use this message to encourage those of you who have been in the financial refiner’s fire. Take this message to heart and hold onto it. Many of you have been steadfast in faith, as you wait on the Lord to teach your heart His ways and destroy yours. Soon, some of you will be entrusted with enough to share with others.

I believe that this message is to be held close to your heart for the proper time when you can embrace its promises and heed its warnings. That exact time is between you and the Lord. Take time to earmark and remember the words above for when the Lord brings them to your memory, and you are to move out to claim them as yours. For some of you, it will be a very short time; for others, wait patiently for His timing. He is faithful.

I wait on You, my Lord,

“If you have not already done so, from now on you must cultivate a time with Me to listen very carefully to My heart. It will be very important for you to do so, for your sake and for the sake of those around you. Most of you have known for some time now that you have been called to a sincere walk with Me. While most of the church seemed to be able to conduct “business as usual,” you have heard the wooing to deeper prayer and focused commitment, which caused you to discern the times and seasons that are at hand.

Because of Our communion, you are now well aware of the fact that some very intense times are coming throughout the land, times similar to those of My early church. I will be using those of you, who have cultivated ears to hear My voice, to guide and give solace to those who have been too busy to prepare. They will be wide-eyed and drooling at the mouth because of fear. You must keep your eyes on Me, so that I have a people who are able to function properly and carry out My will.

I am calling you to live a crucified life, dead to yourselves and alive to My perfect will. You have been in training for that kind of life for some time now. Those who have not followed Jesus’ example of living and dying will have no idea how to function when it is the only way to survive. Their “success”-oriented lives will be of no benefit to My kingdom. They will reel with the prospects of pain and loss. Unable to have any success from their formulas, hyper faith teachings, and “positive” doctrines, they will flounder foolishly with the rest of the world, instead of being My example for others to see.

You must be there for them, holding them close, until they recover from the shock of seeing that I meant what I said all along. You remember the power of My might. You lead the way. Serve others as Jesus did. Listen only to Me. I will be there for you.”

Isaiah 42:9 NIV

“See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”

Hebrews 12:12 TLB

So take a new grip with your tired hands, stand firm on your shaky legs, and mark out a straight, smooth path for your feet so that those who follow you, though weak and lame, will not fall and hurt themselves, but become strong.

Ephesians 1:17 NIV

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

I am reminded of the time when Mt. Saint Helens (the volcano in the state of Washington) blew up. For some time before it erupted, warnings went forth to everyone near. They were told to evacuate their homes by increasingly intense warnings, as the expected time grew closer.

I remember hearing of some foolish people who did not heed the warnings, trusting in their own fortifications, or simply believing that they would be able to weather the blast. They had no concept of the devastating power that was soon to be unleashed in their direction. Because of their ignorance, they perished.

For many years, our gracious Lord has been calling for His people to prepare for times and seasons that will be extremely difficult. He has been calling us to fortify ourselves with His Word and cultivate a relationship with Him that is focused and trustworthy. The posture for which we have been in training is not one of survival; it is one of service and implementation of His will.

Very much like those who perished when the volcano erupted, most of the church has not heeded the warnings that the Lord has presented. Having never before experienced the impact of what is about to happen, they have based their decisions on their own interpretation of what is about to occur. The magnitude of the impending devastation eludes them.

I don’t believe that most of us realize how much of our “American dream” has already eroded. Our safety can no longer be promised because of our supposed might as a nation. We are in a different kind of time with a different set of rules that eludes those who do not know Jesus intimately. Proper preparations for these times are not those that are designed to protect personal safety. Physical fortifications will fall. The only safety will be in Jesus. There, nothing can touch us.

“Do not fear for I am with you. Do not be afraid for I am your Friend. As a matter of fact, I am your best Friend and your God. I watch over you. I cover your sin. I bring forth the new morning after your night of darkness. Look only to Me when you are in peril. Look only to Me when the darkness of your life is looming large in your face. I can be found when you have great need. I can be found when answers seem to be far off.

Come to Me now in the midst of your dark time. Come to Me after I have delivered you from that time. Come to Me before the next trial. Come to Me at all times for all reasons, especially on behalf of others. I am always the answer.”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Psalm 18:1- 2 NIV

1I love you, O Lord my strength.

2The Lord is my rock, my fortress and deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, He is my shield…

Psalm 20:6-7 AMP

6Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

7Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

2 Cor. 12:15 AMP

But I will most gladly spend [myself] and be utterly spent for your souls...

Gal. 4:19 NIV

My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you.

It is so very easy to flip some light and weightless prayers to the Lord when things are going well or on behalf of someone else’s need. It is a much different matter when things in our personal lives seem so overwhelming that we can hardly move. We seek the Lord fervently and without ceasing.

God is after each of us to always seek Him when we have need. He also desires that we seek Him on behalf of others and the things He cares about with the same fervency we have when our world is being challenged. Paul understood that. Jesus certainly understood that. He even gave His life for our need. We are called to do the same for others. When we are able to care for others more than we care for ourselves, we enter into a freedom that is given only to those who really know Who Jesus is and why He did what He did. I don’t know about you; but I am light years away from who I’m supposed to be, if I call myself a follower of Jesus.

Help me die to me and live as You lived, Lord,

“Some of you have become so focused on your relationship with Me that you have forgotten something. Your search for My heart for your self-interest and well-being has caused you to miss a big portion of My interests. Please don’t misunderstand! I am delighted with your renewed vigor and your refreshing desire to seek Me with all of your hearts. I am delighted with your desire to eliminate every hint of the world from your lives. You bless Me as you embrace the character of My Son and become a study of His ways so that you might emulate them. You, My remnant seekers, delight My heart as you draw close and eagerly respond to My will. I am pleased with your progress.

I, however, have this one area to mention to you. You have set aside your first-love desire to bring souls into My kingdom. In your quest for all of Me, you have not heard the portion of My heart that longs that none should perish. Please understand, I am urging most of My church to stop their flurry of activities and foolish programs so that they might come to a place where most of you dwell daily - with Me. Don’t move from that place. In fact, keep pressing in; I have much more for you.

As you come closer to My heart, however, remember why I have set My plan in motion. It is to bring everyone who will hear to embrace the work of the cross before the window of opportunity closes forever. You are My instruments to tell them about My message of reconciliation. You are the ones who can represent My Son most accurately as you set aside the traditions that bog down most of My people and flow in My love. You are beginning to proclaim My Word to the world by your lives, as well as your words.

Do not change your focus of the pursuit of holiness. That pleases Me very much. It is My heartbeat for you. However, add a place in your heart for those who have not surrendered to the work of Jesus. They are very much on My heart; I also want them to be on yours. Time is short. Pursue My presence and then take it to others.”

2 Corinthians 5:20-6:1 AMP

20So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

21For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in, and through Him, we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

6:1Laboring together [as God’s fellow workers] with Him then, we beg of you not to receive the grace of God in vain [that merciful kindness by which God exerts His holy influence on souls and turns them to Christ, keeping and strengthening them – do not receive it to no purpose].

It is easy to forget one of the reasons why each of us is being formed to display the character of Christ. The only Jesus people may ever see is us.

It’s interesting, isn’t it, how we change the longer we are saved? When I first came to Christ, I was a “no holds barred” evangelist. I would tell anyone and anything that moved about the wonderful gift I had received. My mom would even hide upstairs in her room when I drove in the driveway, I was that vocal.

After a while, I “matured” to the point that I saw how important it was for me to study the Word and learn more about Jesus. I would go to every church that had a door open long enough for me to squeeze through. My growth became most important to me and, although I didn’t see it, my focus on myself dampened my zeal for souls.

We are to love being with our Lord. It should be our priority. We should grow to care little about the world, other than to observe it and understand how soon the coming of the Lord is. The danger, however, lies in the fact that being with the Lord is so fulfilling, we must guard our hearts continually so we don’t make everything all about us again and lose sight of the fact that others need that relationship with Him, too. When our focus shifts in the wrong direction, the Lord will be gracious to help us straighten out our priorities to line up with His.

My prayer is to have a continuous first love zeal for souls, something that is paramount in the heart of God. It is selfish when I relish my relationship with the Lord and neglect His desire for me to bring others to Him in the process. I am still not to the point where my time with Him continually propels me to seek the lost or those who know Him who may need what I have to offer; but I’ve asked Him to take me there. How grateful we can be that He will complete the good work He started in us!

Needing to move from His lap long enough to bring others back with me,

“Few of My children travel the narrow road to holiness. Most choose to remain where they are with some attachments to the world in their hearts. Not only is that foolish, but it grieves My heart. They miss so much. They could feast from full meals of My provision, but they are satisfied with simple nourishment.

As you make your daily choices, begin to choose My ways throughout your days. Make proper use of what I have provided for you. Ingest My Word. Become nourished on the things that I hold dear. Head toward holiness. It is where you have been reborn to live.”

Hebrews 10:14b NIV

…because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

I Peter 1:13-19 NIV

13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

14As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

15But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

17Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.

18For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers,

19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

The concept of holiness often eludes us. We generally see it as this unattainable goal, available only for those “other” Christians like Paul, Peter, and Mary - you know, those holy guys and gals.

Father God says, ”Be holy, because I am holy.” That means that holiness - a state of heart attitude in full accord with the heart of God and complete freedom from any attachments to the world - is available to any of us who have been made new through the blood of Jesus. I wonder why we are foolish enough that we don’t pursue it with all of our hearts?

I want to be holy, Lord,

“The challenges you face these days are minor compared to what is in store for your land. Dark minds with evil agendas are gaining footholds in every corner of the world. Evil is being called good, and good is laughed at or declared evil. Your leaders are puppets of darkness! They are blind guides, leading the blind to destruction.

You, however, have an answer for every evil. His Name is Jesus! His ways are honorable. You must follow Him to places of safety. You must look neither right nor left. Keep your eyes only on Him and you will find peace when everyone around you is at war in their hearts. Learn to follow Him with all of your heart now or you will follow the blind guides when things become dark.”

Joshua 24:15 NIV

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Psalm 20:6-7 AMP

6Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

7Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

Isaiah 30:21 NIV

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying “This is the way; walk in it.”

Jeremiah 12:5 AMP

[But the Lord rebukes Jeremiah’s impatience, saying] If you have raced with men on foot and they have tired you out, then how can you compete with horses? And if [you take flight] in a land of peace where you feel secure, then what will you do [when you tread the tangled maze of jungle haunted by lions] in the swelling and flooding of the Jordan?

Heb. 12:2 NIV

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For many years, the Lord has been exhorting His people to draw close to Him, to take their nourishment only from the Father. Many have! Those who have done so find their entire worth in Jesus. He is their only safety! He is their only joy. His ways are their only guide for living. Those who haven’t are beginning to reel in confusion. A gnawing spirit of fear is taking hold deep in the recesses of their hearts. Unless they fully submit to Jesus and find everything in Him, they will soon be overcome with fear. They will attempt to find safety when there is no safety other than in Christ.

Where do you stand? Is Jesus simply a convenient add-on to your life or is He your entire reason for breathing? You must choose this day whom you will serve.

I choose You, Lord,

“Little is known about My plans for you after your time in your world is over. All anyone knows is what I have told them in My Word. I have planned it that way. I require that faith is put into practice, and simple trust is needed to follow My Word. That is so everyone has a chance to come to Me. Even children can qualify.

The only ones that will never be with Me are those who think that they know better than the simplicity of My plan. In their false wisdom, they are too proud to submit to My spiritual ways. In their arrogance, they scheme a better, more logical way.

You keep coming as a wide-eyed child. You humble yourself to My way and My plans. You come in faith; that pleases Me.”

Matthew 19:14 NIV

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Hebrews 11:1 AMP

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Hebrews 11:6 NIV

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

So often I find myself thinking and reasoning myself into a spiritual corner, or even worse, into some form of unbelief. I sometimes forget that spiritual things are learned from the Holy Spirit to our spirits. As we wait on our Lord to reveal the truth of the Word, we begin to know truth. It is then that we must accept it by faith.

Let me learn from You as a little, wide-eyed child, Lord,

“It seems that I need to remind you that as you are in covenant with Me, you are also in covenant with each other. You are members of one family with Jesus as the head. You are joined with each other by His shed blood. That connection is stronger than your original birth.

Why then do you not understand your commitment to each other? How can you claim that what you have is your own when you know of your brother’s or sister’s need? How can you not care for them as strongly as you care for yourself? Jesus gave His life for you. How can you war with each other when He lives in each of you? You exchanged your old selfish life for a new spiritual one. Now you are to become an advocate for Jesus as He is for you. You are also committed to become advocates for each other. You are breaking your word to Me when you don’t.

Love others as I have loved you. It is one of My ways to show the world of My love. Repent of your ways and love each other with My kind of love.”

Matt. 5:3 NIV

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Heb. 12:2 NIV

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him, *endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

*Definition of endure: To remain firm under anguish or misfortune, without yielding, with the hope of others being lifted up.

Jesus - who was intensely wealthy in the spiritual realm - was poor in spirit, and functioned as our Advocate, rating His own safety and comfort insignificant for our sake. He functioned with an advocate heart in two ways – toward His Father and toward us. We are to do the same.

Jesus had a passion to empty Himself and live a life devoted to others. He would never lift Himself up or hold Himself in higher esteem than anyone else – even the lowliest leper. Even though He was God, He held everyone in His heart as more important than Himself; especially those who laughed at, tortured, and crucified Him. He could not be wounded by their sin; He could only see their desperate need…

In the true spirit of advocacy, Jesus also desires to see His Father put “first” and is constantly looking to have Him glorified. His delight is in having Father God as the object of esteem in the hearts of those He loves. All of His mortal life, and now all of His kingly life, undergirds and points to the Father. There is no “one-sidedness,” however, as all of the Godhead - in unity of spirit, being one - point to each other’s wealth.

As the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who functions as our advocate, delights to see us accepted and perfected. He would gladly go to the cross again and again, if He had to, so that we could prosper and be complete in His Father’s love; and so that His Father would continually have the pleasure of our company. (Praise God that everything was finished once and for all at Calvary!)

With Jesus as our example, and with the Father’s love flowing through us, we are to walk as advocates for our Lord, each other as believers, and then on behalf of those who have need. Our adoption into the family of God, our sonship, gives each of us the heritage and ability to do so through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“You delight My heart. I notice you as a father notices his beloved child. I love to invest in you. As you respond to My leadings, I straighten the paths for your journey. Your obedience thrills My heart. Don’t be concerned about how many mistakes you make along the way. They are covered by the blood of Jesus and My mercy.

I am looking forward to you finishing the race set before you. Pattern your life after the life of Jesus. As We walk together, I will show you My heart. Respond to My leading. Be obedient to My will. Your life is a wonderful journey that We will enjoy together.”

Gen. 1:27-28a AMP

27So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him: male and female He created them.

28aAnd God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]…

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

As the Father reveals all aspects of His heart, sometimes I reel with the overwhelming challenge that I am called to face. I begin to condemn myself for who I am not, cower at the prospects ahead of me as a Christian in the coming times, stagger at the weight of my responsibility to represent Jesus properly; and become discouraged as I attempt to prepare for His return. It is then that I remember that none of this was my idea in the first place. My Father has ordained my life and has promised to fulfill His plan for it and in it. My job is simply to need Him desperately.

Thank You for my life, Lord,

“Few of you, My children, are bold enough to ask Me for all that I have for you. You choose to wander on the perimeter of My perfect will -looking but never really seeing, listening but never really hearing; and doing, but never really having enough of Me to change your world. I have sorrow in My heart for you. You are really missing out on the abundant life that is your inheritance.

If I were given access to every area of your life, you would never be the same. I would make some changes. You would have to forgive everyone who has ever offended you. You would have to throw away some of the diversions in your life that replace your time with Me. You would need to start seeking relationships for their closeness to Me, rather than because they give you alternatives to My working in your life. I would overhaul your days, dwell in your dream patterns; and maintain your every thought, bringing it captive to My will.

I am a loving taskmaster, wanting only the best for you. You would lose all things that make you weak, and receive everything that builds you up to emulate Jesus. Choose to find the abundant life. Be bold! Ask Me to really control every area of your life. It will be worth it. I promise!”

Ps. 18:30 AMP

As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.

John 10:10 AMP

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

Rom. 12:2 AMP

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Eph. 3:20-21 AMP

20Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]-

21To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).

I think about the caterpillar. (I don’t really do it often, honest.) If the caterpillar chose to stay outside the cocoon, it would never experience the lofty life of the butterfly. Its very nature would, however, continually attempt to drive it to its destiny of becoming a butterfly. To resist that call would take more effort than submitting to it. That is like each of us before we made Jesus our Lord.

Now carry that simple caterpillar-butterfly analogy further, and relate it to us as born again believers. If we don’t completely submit to our Father’s hand, it would be like the caterpillar entering the cocoon; but then deciding what parts of the butterfly it will accept and what parts of the caterpillar it will keep. The result would be a pretty foolish-looking, half-finished combination of both creatures, ill equipped to properly function as either. Maybe like some of us, huh?

“Have you noticed that very few people are coming into My kingdom in recent years? How many have come to Me in your immediate circle? It seems that testifying of what Jesus has done has lost its charm in My church. What is actually happening is that few people are craving to know Who Jesus is because of their hardened hearts. They are so consumed by the world and its ways that there is no time for even questioning what will happen after they breathe their last breath.

A much greater concern of Mine is that My church simply does not love enough to care. You do not love Jesus enough to make His sacrifice for others the priority in your life. You do not love others enough to really care what happens to them after they breathe their last breath. If that offends you, how much time do you spend planning your life so that others see Jesus in what you do and say? See!”

Jeremiah 2:13 NIV

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

Amos 3:3 KJV

“Can two walk together except they be agreed?”

John 4:34 NIV

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

The world has changed so much that sometimes we do not realize how far we have fallen from the right path, until the Lord shows us and wakes us up. Time is passing so fast, that days turn into months and months turn into years before we can catch ourselves and wonder where it all went. Things take over our lives so insidiously that we wonder how we ever became so consumed with what has a hold on us, eating our lives minute by minute, hour by hour.

Now is the time to stop and take an inventory of our lives to see if we are really where we should be. What is out of order? What is not of God? What needs to be changed? Are we in the center of God’s will, or have all of the intrusions of this life pushed us off the path and made us walk in the brambles?

Put me back on Your path, Lord,

“You have no idea how much and by whom you are being observed. The heavenly hosts and demonic hoards are learning of Me through what I have done for you. They know who I am. They have seen My power. They understand absolute authority and eternal consequences for actions taken.

Now, through My interaction with you, they are observing grace and mercy. They have witnessed the wonder of the cross and its redemptive power. You have access to Me whenever you need it because of the blood that was shed for you. If you could only understand what they understand, you would be forever grateful. You would not take your privileges as lightly as you do.”

Ephesians 3:10-12 AMP

10[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

11This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord.

12In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

Yah! We don’t get it. One day, when this time down here is all over and we are brought before our Father in heaven, we’ll understand the full impact of our astounding wealth because of the cross and its work. As I understand these and other verses, you and I have been given more than even the angelic beings. It’s time to wake up and smell the astounding aroma of our salvation.

“If you hold Me in the highest esteem, if you make My will your priority in life, if you covet Our time together and allow nothing to interfere with Our fellowship, if you rely on the truth of My Word and apply it in whatever you do, if you submit fully to Jesus and the work that was accomplished on the cross, you will always walk in the safety of My presence.

You will know the plans I have for you. You will understand My will in all situations. Your life will be in order, and you will have a continuous peace, knowing that I am with you. You will be called blessed. Others will seek you out. You will impact your world and the people that I send you in a profound way. Your life will be of great consequence.”

Psalm 16:11 AMP

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 25:12-14 NIV

12Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.

13He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land.

14The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.

Isaiah 26:3 AMP

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

Amos 5:4b AMP

Seek Me [inquire for and of Me and require Me as you require food] and you shall live!

Let’s see, we allow most everything to take priority over our time with our Father God. We sometimes (most of the time?) choose man’s ways above God’s ways. We really don’t believe that the Bible is true all the time and can be counted on in every situation we face; and we have difficulty believing that the Lord will be there to reveal His plans for us when we seek Him. Then we wonder why we have little spiritual power and our lives are out of order. Hmmm!

Thank You for inviting us to come to You, Lord,

“I have chosen to invest in you! You are very valuable to Me just as you are, but I desire to impart Myself to you because I love you. My investment is the best gift I can give to you. Your response and your acceptance of My gift will reap for you eternal benefit. Today, just rest in My love for you. Tuck in someplace and enjoy My life as I give Myself to you. Be refreshed. Rest from the cares of your life. Trust that I have them under control. Let’s just be together because it is right to do!”

Jeremiah 1:5a NIV

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…

Matt. 6:25-26 AMP

25Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?

26Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

Luke 10:38-42 NIV

38As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.

39She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.

40But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,

42but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

God imparts Himself to you when you simply sit in His presence. It is a time to commune with the Lord in silence, sitting quietly and peacefully with no agenda on your part except to be there with Him, which allows Him to minister His life to your inner being. Nothing is more important to the Lord. Nothing is more important to you. It is amazing what changes can occur as we are seemingly "doing nothing"!

Thank You for inviting me to be with You, Lord,

“You need to turn around often to see who is following you. You also need to check to your right and to your left to see with whom you are walking. Often, you need to remember Whom you are really following. Too often you forget how much you are worth to Me, not only the value that I place on you personally, but the value you have because of who you are and what you are becoming in Christ.

The only One to follow is Jesus; that you know deep in your heart. Once that is your only goal, I can place others to your right and to your left - people of maturity - so that your path will be straight and purposeful. They will not allow you to falter. You are safe with them. Hold them close; value their friendship. Work for their best interest. Mark carefully who they are and allow nothing to separate your hearts. Study the needs of those whom I have watching you. They will need to travel some of the roads that you have already traveled. Love them deeply. Forgive their immaturity. Serve them with an honest heart.

Soon they will have others following them because of the love that you have shown. If you have no one to your left or your right, if you have no one following you, even if the path ahead of you seems clear, more than likely you are on a path to destruction. Check your heart. Check your motives. Check your spirit and the direction it is taking you. No one on the right path walks completely alone. It is too dangerous. I would not allow it.

Stop now, and see what you might have missed. Submit to someone who is producing mature, Christ-like followers, and surrounded by people of integrity. Repent of your pride. Become a listener and a follower first, so that one day you will be mature enough to lead.”

I Cor. 11:1 NIV

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.

I Th 1:6-7 NIV

6You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.

7And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.

Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who, for the joy set before Him, endured the cross, scorning the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:12-13 NLB

12”So take a new grip with your tired hands and stand firm on your shaky legs.

13Mark out a straight path for your feet. Then those who follow you, though they are weak and lame, will not stumble and fall but will become strong.”

I have the desire to run hard after Jesus and have the honor of being surrounded by many people who are doing the same. Few of them live in the same community that I do. In fact, they are scattered all over the nation. My greatest joy is having the privilege of needing them desperately. It would be impossible to make it through a single day if my true friends were not available to counsel, encourage, caution, and convict.

They love me enough to never fear warning me of dangers and traps that I may encounter. They are so faithful that I can show them my vulnerable underbelly. I can be transparent in their presence, knowing that they will love me even when I fail miserably or appear foolish. They are eternal friends and holy alliances placed in my life by the Lord. I am absolutely free to follow after Him, in front of them, because of their honest hearts.

I also have the honor of having people need who I have become and what I have learned, so that they might grow strong. That is not a boast, but a proper flow of life established by Jesus. It is a responsibility that I do not take lightly. One day I will answer to my Lord about how well I carried His banner before them. One day, each of them will do the same.

Needing each other and helping each other is our Father’s way. To function any other way is a formula for failure.

Needing others and being needed as led by my Lord,

“Although you are cherished and I know all that you are, you are only a small part of a much, much bigger plan. You need to widen your horizon concerning Our relationship. You need to understand that My plans don’t revolve around you. You are privileged to participate in what I am doing. Your self-focus limits your ability to grow in Me. You have brought Me down to your level, instead of seeing Who I really am. You have made Me small in your eyes. I am much larger than you have brought yourself to believe. Come to Me. Go to My Word. I will expand your vision, open your eyes, and enlarge your faith.”

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

9“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Ephesians 1:17-19a NIV

17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

19aand his incomparably great power for us who believe…

Ephesians 3:10-12 AMP

10[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

Most of us have no power because we have created a weak God in our own minds. He has become our buddy or our servant or our request filler. We hold ourselves in higher esteem than we hold Him. This whole relationship has become about us and our needs, instead of about our Father’s plans.

We forget that only the powerful blood of Jesus allows us to come near to Him. Before the cross, to be in His presence meant death. To even look upon the One Who spoke the worlds into existence was impossible.

“Today is a day of preparation. It is a day of new hope. It is a day of decision. I am calling My people to prepare for a time when things are not as they are in these days. It will be a time when only those who prepare in earnest now will prosper. I am also sending new hope to the fragile and broken, as they submit fully to Me. As you prepare your heart for My presence, I will heal you and build you up in My Son, Jesus.

Decide today Whom you choose to serve. Set aside every heart attachment to the world. Set aside those things that refocus your priorities. No longer entertain the notion that you are in need of nothing from Me. Seek Me with all your heart. I will be found. Seek Me for what you will need in the coming days. Seek Me and you will walk in My presence when others walk in fear.”

2 Chr 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

The only place of real safety is being tucked in the folds of the garments of our Lord. Any time we find ourselves separated from His presence, we are vulnerable, weak, and in danger.

Because of the work of the cross, you and I have been recreated to remain consistently in the presence of God Himself, now and for all eternity. In our pride, for some foolish reason, we choose to think that we can somehow prosper outside of that presence. We go about our days blissfully unaware of the real danger we are in and the grave consequences we will endure by remaining independent of His protecting power. Any decision that we make that sets us apart from the keeping power of our Lord is foolish and improper, denying the provision that Jesus made for us. It has no place in our lives. It is a dangerous way to live.

Help me to remain near You at all times, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Everything that you see happening is about lies and truth. It is the continuing battle that will bring forth the culmination of My plan, just as I promised it would. As the elements of the plan unfold and the players come and go, you will see blatant deceptions and half truths. You will see right-sounding agendas and seemingly pure motives -designed to move the battle lines one way or another - achieving small, temporary victories that will fade with the next encounter.

Little by little, every nation will be affected and involved as the battles escalate, until a cry for peace rings throughout your world. There will then be what looks like an answer, but there will still not be truth. I am the only Truth. I always was. I always will be. Your temporary battles are an infinitesimal portion of the absolute truth that governs the heavenlies and is, at present, overcoming the father of lies for all eternity. My truth will continue on for eternities upon eternities.

In the times ahead, when the battles rage, you will be asked to pick sides. You will be asked to choose between one agenda or another. You would be wise to see through the smoke and the fire and look to My Word. Choose My plan and overcome the battle lines. I am asking you to bring others to Truth. That is My plan for you. He is Jesus.”

John 4:34 NIV

”My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Joshua 5:13-14 NIV

13Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”

14“Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord, I have now come.”

An overview of all of recorded history shows nations rising and falling, wars in diverse places, men coming to power, only to fall to the next person more powerful; and generations of people raised up only to cease to exist. From His heavenly post, Father God - although concerned about each and every hair on every head that ever existed - moves and directs, guides and leads every person and every nation, all for the eventual outcome of His completed plan. Our days are in His hands and for His use. The final generation will see a world leader emerge out of the revived, old Roman Empire. This leader will be the predicted antichrist, who is determined to establish himself as God. He will lose one final battle with the Lord.

History, however, is also about people - people just like you and me - with very real lives, who are living in our apportioned time in God’s time-line to accomplish our portion of God’s overall plan. Once we are born, all the mechanisms of God track and direct our lives, giving us every opportunity to make the choice of committing our way to God or rejecting Him for all eternity. In more recent generations, once we choose God through Jesus Christ, the only access provided, we have the privilege of seeking the heart of Father God and obtaining our individual part in His overall plan. We have the opportunity to become players, moving with God to implement His wishes; or non-players, going along for the ride and clueless to what is really happening.

As players, we have the honor of setting aside all that hinders His will to be accomplished in us, eagerly flowing with His unfolding plan. Our concerns are not earthly, our war is not with people, our hearts are not on the material. Our eyes focus on the spiritual and see God’s truth unfolding above every earthly situation.

As non-players, everything we see is carnal. Our deepest concerns are for the immediate, our time is spent in providing protection for our little area in life; and our hearts are for safety and comfort for ourselves. When our small world is threatened, we have little wisdom to embrace the overall plan of God. Unable to see God’s truth, we hope that we will win over any threat to our lives. Success is attained only if, after any conflict is resolved, we emerge unscathed, and continue our selfish little lives of pursuing personal safety and comfort. We cannot envision God’s truth as harming our small perspective of life in any way. We are short-sighted fools, living fruitless lives.

Our generation of believers is at a crucial juncture. Each of us must set aside our own desires for protection and safety, and focus our attentions toward God’s truth. What is He doing? Why are the things happening around us happening? What are the daily headlines all about?

If we don’t focus all of our attentions toward finding God’s perspective in every situation, our prayers will be selfish and self-serving, our actions will be carnal, and our witness will be nullified. We may even be fighting against the overall plans of God without knowing it. What a horrible prospect!

“Do you know that your job is simply to trust Me to do whatever is necessary in your life? When you have a need, turn to Me. When I show you who you are not, submit to Me and surrender to Jesus that He might live His life through you.

Why do you try to live this life in your own strength? Turn to Me for your every need. Turn to Me for the changes that are needed in you. Trust Me to do what is necessary to make you who you are to be in Me. All this is My idea. Allowing Jesus to live through you is My plan. Trust Me to perform what I have promised. I am faithful.”

Gal.3:3 NIV

Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?

Gal. 5:22-23a AMP

22But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness,

23aGentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence)…

Most of us really love to play the Holy Spirit in our own lives. We love to participate in our own getting better before God, when God has always said that our place is to die. We are to die to our own strengths, our own abilities; and most of all, our own attempts to be like Jesus. This is all God’s work, not ours. The sooner we believe this fact and choose to walk in it, the sooner we will have freedom to overcome our doubts and needs and rest in the Jesus Who loves us.

“Properly overcoming in the spiritual realm has less to do with your understanding of the power that I have given you, and much more to do with your submission to Me. Many of My children know the Word and the authority that they have in the Name of Jesus, but few of them are really accomplishing My will because they haven’t learned to listen to Me. They bind this and cast that, thinking that they are doing My will; but they are far from what I desire.

You - those of you who have been in My special training fires - you are gaining My strength, My unlimited power, and the fullness of My resources because of your thorough understanding of your weakness when you are not in My will. That understanding gives you what is necessary to be truly strong. Your covenant authority imparted to you through My Word, combined with learned submission to Me, brings the fullness of your authority into proper order and focused power.

When others flail about, using the Name of Jesus to accomplish what they need for themselves, you wait with Me until I tell you when and where to move. When you move with Me, My presence is with you. That is good!”

Exodus 33:15-16 NIV

15Then Moses said to Him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Matt.16:19 AMP

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.

Matt. 7:21-23 NIV

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’

23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

Luke 10:19 KJV

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

John 4:34 NIV

”My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Most of us rarely consider the damage that we do if we use our authority without consulting with the Lord before we use it. We use logic, need, fear, and many other reasons to push aside the evil that we believe is hindering us, but do we spend enough time with our Father in heaven to have Him direct our steps? Sometimes, repenting before Him in true remorse for our sins accomplishes much more than all of the huffing and puffing against perceived weapons formed against us will ever do. Wow!

Do I ever need you, Lord,

“There is a separation that is occurring within My church. Often, and in many ways, I have revealed My desire for you to seek Me with all of your heart. Some of you have done so. Others of you have continued on your way, acknowledging My calling; but wandering in your own way and denying My heart. To you, I say, “You have set your own course; I will allow you to follow it to its end. The path that you have chosen is full of briars and thorns, all designed to purify your heart.”

To you who have responded to My calling over the years, even though you see little progress in your life, I know your allegiance. I am blessed by your sincerity and will honor your feeble attempts to heed My call. Soon, I will equip you beyond your wildest imagination. You will become who you have desired to be. You will be made holy. You will be empowered to proclaim My glory, free from any hindrances that you possess at present.

I will have a people. Because you have sought Me with all of your heart, because you have not given up even in your times of weakness, I will make you My mouthpiece. I will bring you to intimacy. I will pour My life through you so that others can embrace Who I am.

You will walk above the ways of the world, and into the ways of the Spirit and overcome. You have given Me all that you have. In your eyes it was very little. In My eyes, it was enough to hold you with high esteem and trust you with much. Keep pressing in. I am with you. I am about to move on your behalf.”

Acts 4:13 AMP

Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools [common men with no educational advantages], they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of meeting many people in different stages of their walk with Christ. I have seen those who appear mighty in the Lord, those who look as if they have little to offer Him if anything, and many in between. In my foolishness, I have often judged who is most “holy” by what they have and how much they seem to be blessed. In my infant days, some of my friends and I would follow “anointed” ministers, hungering to find truth and a firm grasp on what Christianity really was. We longed for power, miracles, and the presence of the Lord. Sometimes we saw it manifested.

Over the years, I have learned that the Lord judges what is in a person’s heart, not what is evidenced by his abilities. To do otherwise would be unfair to those of us with limited resources. It would mean that He is selective in His process of bringing us to Him.

I am convinced that He responds in favor of those who cry out in their weakness, rather than those who believe that they are progressing steadily and have no need of being brought low. It has become evident that the humble heart is the heart that can receive the Lord in His fullness and the independent heart has little room for His presence.

In the times ahead, I believe that the Lord will manifest who He really is, as He has always done, in those who have little to offer in their natural abilities. To do otherwise would confuse the message with the messenger. The time for the slick evangelist, the charismatic preacher, and the well-oiled, highly practiced presentation is over. The presence of the Lord will be manifested through those who have no ability within themselves. Their desire for intimacy with God as a priority will generate the presence of the Lord in their lives. Absence of self will bring the character of Christ to the forefront. They will disappear; Jesus will be seen.

“You, My people, have missed some steps in your walk with Me. You have avoided the cross, fled the grave, and attempted to live a resurrection life without My life-giving hand upon you. When Jesus returned from My presence, He was flesh and bone. There was no blood or humanness in Him. That blood was shed so that you don’t have to shed yours to be like Him. Your inner being has been renewed into the likeness of Jesus. It has been born alive to the Spirit and responds only to the Spirit.

Pray that your inner man is endued with power and might by the power of My Holy Spirit to be free to respond to My ways. Pray for the determination to no longer walk in the futile life of your flesh. Pray for the power to become dead to all that resembles the world and its ways, so that you will be aligned with My ways and in My perfect will. It is the way of the cross. It is the way of Jesus.”

Luke 24:39 NIV

“Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

John 20:17 NIV

Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father.”

1 Cor. 15:50 NIV

I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Ephesians 3:16 AMP

May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].

Many of us attempt to approach the things of God by using our own reasoning and strength. That is one of the main reasons that our attempts to approach God and affect our world fail. The things of God are spiritual, not religious; and certainly not of the flesh.

When Mary met with Jesus, He had not yet gone to the Father. He could not be touched or contaminated by anything of the world. He was on His way to complete the most wondrous event ever. Jesus was about to seal everything that had been done in the perfect blood covenant with His Father. This act was an unbreakable, spiritual covenant made for every one of us. The life of Jesus, the cross, the tomb, the resurrection, all led to what was about to take place.

The removal of our flesh and the entering into the power of our covenant with God, in any equation with God for that matter, always follows the pattern established by Jesus. It is first the cross - an initial submission of our entire being to the Lord with subsequent submissions each time our flesh intrudes upon our new life. Then comes the tomb - the waiting on God as if dead, so that Lordship is completed in us. Finally, there is the resurrection - the empowering of our spiritual being by the Holy Spirit, that new inner man receiving spiritual power and might, responding in spiritual ways. The result is the ability to flow in the compassions of Jesus through the perfection of God’s established ways.

Do it Your way, Lord,

“I have the antidote for anything and everything that is wrong. His Name is Jesus. He has overcome the world and its ways. He has overcome all of the frailties of mankind. He has overcome all future perils. You can trust Him! Stop looking at the challenges that face you. Look to Jesus. Stop looking at who you are not. Look to Jesus. He will make you whoever He wants you to be. Jesus is everything! Forever.”

Romans 8:33-34 NIV

33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died - more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

2 Cor. 5:18-20a AMP

18But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].

19It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).

20aSo we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us.

I Cor. 3:11 AMP

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Hebrews 1:3 AMP

He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high…

I love the idea that a perfect Person made the perfect sacrifice, so that anyone who chooses to believe can be perfected in God’s eyes. To me, that thought carries over into the day to day working out of life’s situations and challenges. In fact, I believe that they are there to be used as tools to help perfect us. If that is true, what is there to worry about? We have a perfect Savior Who knows how to work things out perfectly – especially in us!

Teach me to trust only You, Lord,

“Do not shake off the desire that I am placing in your heart. I am calling those who will listen to an intimacy with Me. Personal attention has been won for you at the cross of Jesus Christ. You have a covenant right to spend time with Me.

It came at a high price, the blood of My Son. Don’t take this call lightly. It is for your eternal good. I will show you My heart. I will show you My will. I will prepare you for what lies ahead in your life. I will give you the wisdom, strength, and power to overcome everything that attempts to destroy you. Come close now. I am waiting.”

Mark 15:37-38 AMP

37Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed out His life.

38And the curtain [of the Holy of Holies] of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Romans 2:4 NIV

Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?

Romans 12:1 NIV

Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – which is your spiritual worship.

In the world, access to the heart of a friend is earned. It takes time to develop the trust and vulnerability that is required. True friends understand the privilege it is to have that kind of access and they guard it carefully.

Jesus has won access to His Father for us. When the temple veil was torn from top to bottom, it would never separate us from Him again. Access from the holy place into the holy of holies, once reserved only for the high priest once a year, is now available to all those who have given themselves over to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

What is so incredibly sad is that few of us actually tarry with God, the Creator of all things, even though we are invited to do so. Think of it, we are invited into the presence of the One Who gave us life, knows our hearts, and desires to spend time with us. When we do not go to Him, is that pride, ignorance, fear, busyness, or a combination of them all?

Form in me whatever it takes to be able to come to You, Lord,

Jim Corbett
