“Do you know that when you truly find Me in your heart, you will find Me everywhere? Maybe you have forgotten this basic truth. When I am the reason and focus of all that you do, there is really no room for fear, confusion, doubt, anxiousness, or any other emotion that would hinder you from seeing My presence on everything in your world. Remember the “first love” time when Jesus was your everything? Remember the brightness of love that you felt? Recall how you felt about your needs and fears. In fact, try to recall anything that could move you to distraction. There wasn’t anything, was there? That kind of insight and freedom is the heritage of anyone who allows Me to totally consume his heart through the cross.

Circumstances, situations, peril of any kind - even death - have no hold on you nor bearing on your decisions and actions. Obedience and continuous fellowship with Me allow you to rise above everything that would normally hamstring you and immobilize your life. I planned it that way. I am your safety. You have been made to dwell with Me in all that you do. When you leave My presence, you become fair game for the enemy of your soul.

Observe your life. Determine to recognize any areas that you have allowed to become independent of Me. Those areas will one day cause you great harm. Bring them back under My Lordship. When you do, you will have postured yourself to flow with Me in absolute freedom, rising above your carnal limitations. You will be able to see everything from My perspective. From here, there is nothing that can hinder us in anything We decide to do together. I have created everything and everything submits to My hand. When you dwell with Me, you will thoroughly understand that.”

Amos 4:13 NIV

He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth – the Lord God Almighty is his name.

Acts 4:29-31 AMP

29And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants [full freedom] to declare Your message fearlessly,

30While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus.

31And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage.

If God is not who He says He is, we are all in a whole lot of trouble. If, however, He is all that He is shown to be in His Word, we are the most privileged beings ever created by His hand. We have the astounding heritage of receiving unlimited interaction and fellowship with Him. From the safety of His presence, we have been formed to hold His presence wherever we go and in whatever we do. If we choose to accept it, we are untouchable by anything because of His indwelling in us.

One of the hazards of having a calling as a watchman is the awareness of the world around me and its function in accordance with the Word of God. Continual in-depth study of the times and seasons and their implications brings the Biblical consequences of items in the daily news clear and up close.

As important as that is, there are hazardous possibilities that accompany that kind of mission. It is very easy to get my eyes off of the Lord and focus on the very apparent dangers that are unfolding every day, especially in this end-time season.

Without the power of the Lord to continually pull me back to His Word - and the reason, comfort, and freedom that it imparts, bringing His presence and purpose back in focus - I would remain locked in a continual state of fear, which would discolor everything I do. Too often, I am distracted for too long, fluctuating back and forth from freedom to fear when some issue is highlighted by the Lord. It is not a lack of faith in my God whom I know is faithful; it is a misdirection of focus because of the overwhelming responsibility that I feel. Only as my Lord directs me back to Himself and His Word can I break loose, and once again flow completely in His freedom, knowing that in Him there is no fear and no urgency other than His urgency to bring souls into the kingdom.

“It is only by My grace that you have even enough strength to breathe. It is also by My grace that you can do unlimited exploits for Me if I call them into existence. As you take your life from Me, I give you My life. Think on that. Jesus died so that We could have fellowship. He lives to bring His life to that fellowship. You can do all things through Him by the power of My Holy Spirit. It is a work that is continually renewed in you. Why waste one more moment walking in your own ways? Choose My ways so that I can apply My grace to them. My ways are far above your ways. So much more could be accomplished in you and through you if only you would submit fully.”

John 14:12 NIV

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father.”

2 Cor. 5:20a NIV

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

A spirit of righteousness sees others as God sees them. Someone functioning in a spirit of righteousness is always seeing and loving others as God does. Our Lord looked at everyone with one purpose in mind: He wanted them to be with Him for eternity. It didn’t matter who they were, or what they had done, especially to Him. He could only see them in love.

In His heart, because He was righteous, it was impossible not to love. He even loved others deeply on His way to the cross, because He knew that some of those who were crucifying Him would be with Him in heaven because of what He was about to do for them.

His righteous heart could not see their sin, only their need. While He hung there bleeding, He still was aware of the needs of those around Him. Looking left and right, He dealt with each person in His Father’s love and willing acceptance, if they chose to accept them.

Looking to His mother, He could see her with spiritual eyes even then, and sensing her sorrow and loss, made provision for her needs. Looking to the mocking crowd in His righteous, bridal love, He could only ache for their need of forgiveness and cry out on their behalf. Even now, in righteousness, He is praying for you and me, still looking past Himself to us. How can we not follow Him?

I am often in awe when I think of how Jesus could function righteously in all circumstances. It astounds me to think that part of His covenant promise and provision for us is to do likewise. It seems so remote, and at times even hopeless, as I see my sin. In those times, the only hope that I do have is His Word, and I can rely on that. He told me that if I repent of who I am not, He would make me who He is.

I choose Your ways, Lord,

“Today I call you to a quiet place in Me. I ask you to find the time to set aside all the typical treasures that hold your attention and rethink your priorities. I ask you to allow Me to remind you who you are because of your relationship with Jesus. It is also important to confirm what your calling is and how far you have deviated from the very specific goal that I have for you. You need to make an accounting of your life, so that you are ready when I call you.

Make no mistake, I will call you. Most of the world and most of My church are being positioned for a true falling away. They are being drawn to a way of thinking that controls their every move. Soon, they will not be able to awaken from their stupor and will need to be pulled from the bondage they are in. You will need to have everything in order, so that you remain with Me when others leave. Come now. I will show you what is out of order. We will make things right together.”

Matt. 6:31-33 NIV

31“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

II Thess. 1:11 NIV

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.

II Pe.1:5-11 NIV

5For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;

6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.

8For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

10Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,

11and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

There is great expectancy in the air for those who are listening to God. Something is about to happen that supersedes the ebb and flow of everyday living. There is a quiet wooing being heard only by those who have turned their ears, attentive to the intimate words of Father God.

At present, the call is out for honest, complete preparation; a re-examination of every motive, goal, and priority, which will result in a fullness of commitment. Soon it will be time to implement. God is preparing a people who are poised and ready for what is ahead - a people capable and trustworthy to carry the Gospel to the starving and confused.

Let me not grow weary in this time, Lord,

“If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? I sometimes hear you ask that nebulous question of each other and then inwardly assess your lives. Being comforted by your personal judgment and impressed with the number of bibles you own, you peacefully fall asleep, confident that you are a stellar example of My Son’s character before people and worthy to call yourselves by His Name. Let’s just suppose that I am the One who will determine if you represent Him properly. By the way, I am!

Let Me pose some of the easier questions to you to use as plumb lines in assessing your life. Do you hold anything as your own? Have you recently wept bitterly for anyone because you knew that he was not saved, and resolved to devote your life to his salvation, no matter what the cost? Have you thrown a “pittance” to My workers, keeping an abundance for yourself because you “earned” it? Do you only crave to do My perfect will? If someone were to beat you within an inch of your life, take everything that you have, destroy your family and then mock your name to your friends, would you love him? Better still, would your love for him increase? Would you fall on your face in gratitude to Me for allowing you to be privy to his sin for the single task of holding it before Me, that I would not hold it against him? Would you give everything you own, even your very life, for the soul of someone who hates you?

The One Whom you say you represent did! If you didn’t do so well with these elementary questions, there is still time. I will help you if that’s what you want Me to do.”

Luke 23:33-34 NIV

33When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals – one on his right, the other on his left.

34Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

I Cor. 3:11-15 AMP

11For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

12But if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

13The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done.

14If the work which any person has built on this Foundation [any product of his efforts whatever] survives [this test], he will get his reward.

15But if any person’s work is burned up [under the test], he will suffer the loss [of it all, losing his reward], though he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has passed] through fire.

I John 2:5-6 AMP

5But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity). By this we may perceive (know, recognize, and be sure) that we are in Him:

6Whoever says he abides in Him ought [as a personal debt] to walk and conduct himself in the same way in which He walked and conducted Himself.

We are a fascinating group of people, those of us who call ourselves by our Redeemer’s Name. Not only do we judge others by their actions and judge ourselves by our intentions; we feel that God is going to do the same. Somehow, we have come to believe that we are going to be graded on a curve rather than by the Word when we stand before the Lord and are given crowns to lay at His feet.

Our lives, if held before the intense light of the Holy Spirit, need some tailoring, to say the least. We judge everyone, condemn the lost, lie to others, lie to God, hoard His wealth, hold grudges, harbor unforgiveness, care only for ourselves, overlook our sins; and then say that we represent the character of Jesus. Not very credible criteria for a defense of our actions.

I know that we are relying on grace and mercy, but what about the reputation of our Lord? What about His feelings? What about His desires about how we are to act? If Jesus is really our Lord, shouldn’t His wishes and examples for living be a little more important to us? I believe that His Father thinks so!

“Have you ever wondered why the church is powerless? Of course, there are many reasons, but one of them is that you have been calling for Me to pad your comfort areas for so long that I have done so. You live in a world that has blinded your eyes to what I consider valuable. You have looked in that direction for so long, that you can’t even hear My call to holiness anymore. Even with the threatening times and seasons directly in your path, you make plans so that you will remain safe, rather than doing everything to allow My plan to go forth.

Because you have not understood My plan, I have also allowed for you to remain lean to the wondrous things of My Word. You have cried for success; I have allowed most of you to achieve it. You have cried for help; I have been there as I promised. I always keep My promises. If only you would have cried for more of Jesus like My remnant has. I love to give His heart and desires to those who ask. If only you would have desired to take His cross, rather than seek the ways of the world.

You have taken the way of ease and comfort, denying every opportunity to place yourself in a position of needing Me. Now you are unprepared for what lies ahead. Your money will not save you from times when money can’t buy anything. Your lack of spiritual strength will cause you to flounder, when only the spiritually strong will prosper. All of your worldly skills will cause you to be bankrupt, when only spiritual skills will be places of safety. You have fed yourselves on predigested food that I have given others, rather than come to Me yourselves for real nourishment.

To My remnant, prepare to be needed desperately by those who have not called to Me to become like Jesus. In their fear during the times ahead, those of you who have been laughed at and scorned will have the strength, wisdom, and answers that they need to remain safe. That is all that they desire. Focus your attention on souls, rather than on the comfort of those who would not listen when I called. I love them, but I have trained you for different purposes in a time such as this. Do not let their need distract you from that purpose. I wish that none should perish; again focus on souls while there is still time. Remain focused; I will bring the eternally needy to you. Show them Jesus.”

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them.

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls and [thinned their numbers by] disease and death.

Hosea 13:6 NIV

“When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.”

Zechariah 7:13 NIV

“When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen, says the Lord Almighty.”

Matt. 25:28-29 NIV

28“Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.

29For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.”

Our God formed man to have fellowship with Him. When man broke that fellowship, God pursued him to the point of bringing Jesus into the world to die. His desire has always been that none should perish. He brings people to Himself, and then uses them to go get others.

Mankind doesn’t always see it that way. In fact, more often than not, we don’t think about it at all. Most of us care little that our neighbor, family members, and friends will spend eternity in the torment of hell. We are more concerned about what God can and will do for us.

What is not understood is the fact that if we don’t do it God’s way by becoming all that we can be in Jesus, so that the world has a chance to be saved, we lose out big-time. When we continually approach God with our selfish requests, never caring about those who are perishing, He gives us stuff; but He rarely gives Himself. We never experience the kind of life that we were meant to have.

Leanness to our soul is a soul on junk food. It describes someone who has little quality of life, no strength, and dies early. That describes the church of today. Those with an abundance (I’m not particularly talking about money,) in whatever form that fulfills their desires, usually feel that they do not need God desperately every moment. That is certain death. The result is a cold, lifeless church that is unable to truly impact the world around them.

The remnant, those who have only God’s purposes in mind, is given God Himself because He is their hearts’ desire. Soon there will be an accounting. What has been the real purpose for all that we have done? There will be many surprises for those who see things God’s way for the first time. Weep for them.

“It’s time for you to invest in someone other than yourself. You need to put aside your own needs for a while and inquire about the needs of someone around you. If you really want to learn how to love like Jesus loves, find someone you don’t like or someone who has done you wrong and invest in that person. Make plans for him to prosper. Pray that he be blessed. Give a series of good gifts to him, especially if he does not need them. Pray for him on a continual basis. You get the idea. Jesus died for those who spat on Him at the cross. He even blessed them and asked for forgiveness on their behalf. You have trouble getting your eyes off of yourself. How Christ-like is that?”

I Cor. 13:5-7 AMP

5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.

7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

Php 2:3-7 NIV

3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.

6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

“Do you ever wonder why I sometimes call attention to your sins when we are alone? It is because I am your dedicated Father, Who loves you very much. Your relationship with Me is very real and I cherish it more than you could ever know. I’ve commanded the universe into being. I’ve set the stars to be immovable from their position, but I have gently called you to Me. You are so important to Me that I sometimes whisper your name. You are far more than some command that I’ve issued. You are a thoughtful desire whom I’ve created for Myself. I remember each moment that We’ve shared together.

When you are too busy to spend time with Me, I miss you very much. When you are involved in sin, I must turn My face because of what you are doing; but I have never turned My back, and I never will. I sometimes remind you of your faults when We’re together to get them out of the way of Our communication. You only need to remember to give them to Me; I have the power to eliminate them. Once they’re gone, they no longer hinder Us from sharing with one another. I love that kind of interaction. It is more important to Me than nations, governments, or world situations. Those are all passing away, but Our relationship is just beginning.

Think intently on this; never forget it. I love you very much. You are the very desire of My heart. When We need to get serious about the changes that are needed in you, We’ll deal with them swiftly to remove them from you for your good. Otherwise, I’m going to enjoy every moment that We have together. I am planning on many of those moments. That’s why I’ve brought you to Me.”

Deut. 31:6 NIV

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Ps. 139:15-16 NIV

15My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade – kept in heaven for you…

Rev. 3:19-20 AMP

19Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

20Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me

Honest, unquestioning love - what an incredible gift! So often I forget what this life with Christ is all about. I get caught up in the training and forget about the hope, the joy, and the astounding privilege.

Think about it. All of us are being refined and made into the image of our Lord and Savior. We are unfinished, yes, but we are accepted. While that process is being accomplished, we have been given the remarkable gift of fellowshipping with each other, and also with our Father God.

Our fellowship with each other is supposed to be a safe place for us, and in certain situations it is. Other times, it is used to make us grow. Our fellowship with our Father, however, is designed to bring us life - real, eternal, vibrant life. Whenever we go to Him, He always imparts Himself to us. We always come away better and wiser in Him, even if He has issues with us that need to be dealt with. It is always a winning situation.

A while ago, the Lord showed me some of the needs of His church, and they were many. As I reflect back though, He was not showing me in the context of needs that I should address. He was releasing me from judgment. He was showing me His hope, which is an eternal hope in His power to bring the true church of Jesus Christ into the place that we were designed to be - a positive, flowing companionship of love. He wanted me to know that the thought of giving up on any of us who want more of Him never enters His mind.

“The foolish among you are not heeding My repeated calls to intimacy. You are not changing the religious format of your life by making time with Me your priority. I am calling you to Myself so that you can hear My heart and I can make you more like Jesus. When I am your priority and you come fully surrendered, I give you His heart - a bridal heart with bridal desires for bridal preparation.

Jesus is coming soon for those who have only His desires, seek only His ways; and have prepared only for Him. Cast aside the other gospels that are so prominent in your world. Any message that does not call for intimacy and proper heart preparation is a foolish doctrine designed for the foolish heart. To follow them will have you standing on the sidelines when My end-time plan unfolds.”

Matt. 25:1-6 NIV

1“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

2Five of them were foolish and five were wise.

3The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.

4The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

5The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’”

Hebrews 1:3 AMP

He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. When He had by offering Himself accomplished our cleansing of sins and riddance of guilt, He sat down at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high…

So many things distract us from focusing on why we have been born and then born again, as God sees it. We have been born to accept God’s way of salvation, Jesus Christ. When we do, we are to allow Christ’s life to live through us, so that others can accept Him as their Savior and Lord.

We are to take on His nature as He took on the nature of His Father. That kind of image only comes from intimacy, a sharing and imparting of Christ’s nature by a loving Father. When Jesus comes, He will be looking for those who were wise enough to gain His heart, are familiar with godly intimacy, and are as He is.

“I desire more for you than how you are functioning now. Why won’t you move from the sidelines of logic, carnal wisdom, and business savvy and enter into My faith life? Human reasoning will always be shallow at best. Your worldly, logical counsel limits Me and My servants. I have given you much to do because you have asked to be a steward of much. I have brought those in need to you. Now you lord My resources over those I send your way.

You are dabbling at the perimeter of My work, when I want you to be part of a mighty move and pour what I have given you into others. You work from a base of pride because of your position among people. In your own mind you have become important, but you are really doing little for Me compared to what I have in mind. You need to remember that you are going to answer to Me for what I have given you.

Begin to pour My resources into My work with zeal. I desire that you become a limitless fountain, not a cask that can be emptied. I am waiting for you to submit fully to My plans. Discard your own ways. Break loose and move in faith. I desire to move through you in a mighty way, but I will be able to really use you only when you have My heart and you are functioning in My wisdom.”

II Chr. 16:9a AMP

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him.

Ps. 111:10 AMP

The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and skill…; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do [the will of the Lord].

Luke 12:42-44, 48b NIV

42The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?

43It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.

44I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.”

48b“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

Ja. 2:26 AMP

For as the human body apart from the spirit is lifeless, so faith apart from [its] works of obedience is also dead.

God is raising up a faith people who are moving in the wonder of Jesus and discarding the logic of the world. He is using those who have been with the Father enough to hear His heart and move only when He says to move. Human reason can only carry the work of the Lord as far as logic will allow it to go. Faith, combined with Godly vision and implemented by learned obedience, is limitless. In these coming times, those who wait on the Lord to hear His heart and then step out in faith will accomplish mighty works, as the prideful unknowingly reel in their helplessness.

“Never judge the amount of anointing that I have placed on any of My children based on the way they look. It is time for the pompous, arrogant ministers, who have misused My Word for their own gain, to be ignored for who they are. They pervert My Gospel and cause others to do the same. Slick talk and eloquent speeches never cause heartfelt changes in the lives of those who need to hear what I am saying.

You are My vessels, a new breed of priests. You have bought gold refined in the fire and can no longer be tempted by the world and its ways. You have paid the price to know Me intimately. Because you have been in low, unassuming places and have often had a desperate need of Me, you now own what you are called to tell others. My Word is formed deeply in your heart. My Spirit is the director of your ways. The world may ignore you because you appear ordinary. Most of My church will discard you because you have little for them to admire, but I am about to do exceptional things through you. Quietly, calmly, you will minister My Word in dunamis power because of your humbled lives. Truth will come forth because of your obedience. I am pleased. Watch what I do through you.”

Ps. 51:6 AMP

Behold, you desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart.

Hosea 4:6 AMP

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge…

Luke 11:52 AMP

Woe to you, lawyers (experts in the Mosaic Law)! For you have taken away the key to knowledge; you did not go in yourselves, and you hindered and prevented those who were entering.

Luke 12:1 NIV

Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”

I’ve often wondered what Jesus must think about all the tremendous opportunities the church has had to present the Gospel in this country, and what we’ve done with them. The end result of many years of the best facilities and communication tools is a “bless me” religion that is weak and powerless against our own sin and limited in presenting the true character of Jesus to a dying world. How did that happen?

No matter what has been, our Father is concerned about what is about to be. He is raising up a people who are tired of surface religion, finished with hypocrisy in their own lives, and desiring only truth. He is calling out those who have heard the call to holiness and have determined to glorify Him with their lives rather than simply present empty words and cold preaching to those who are dying. He is stirring up the spirits of those who can no longer be satisfied in remaining as they are. They covet the truth of God’s Word for their very being. He is calling for a holy people, ready to present the Word in truth.

Take me there, Lord,

“Remember the spiritual season that you are in. Remember with soberness the purpose for your comings and goings. In My economy, I am calling as many souls to Jesus as will come. At the same time, I am preparing a bridal heart in those who respond to My call to holiness. Most of My church is unaware of how close I am to heralding the end of all things as you know them. They are so busy attempting to gain more and preparing for better times that they have lost perspective.

You, however, who desire to walk in step with My purposes and plans, shake off anything that distracts you from hearing Me clearly. You draw close to Me now. Hear My heart and recognize My Word being fulfilled in your midst. You will prosper if you respond to My call.”

Ephesians 1:17-19a NIV

17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

19aand his incomparably great power for us who believe…

So often the rising and falling tides of our world demand that we respond to them, sometimes rightfully so. Continuous response, however, removes our affections from heavenly places and lowers them to carnal thinking and responses in everything we do. We lose sight of what is really happening in the real world into which we have been born.

Because of our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Lord, we have been born into a new spiritual world, which is governed by spiritual dynamics. We are spiritual beings, who exist temporarily in a physical world that no longer exists for us somewhere in our future. Should not our focus, then, be on the priorities and events of the world that will soon be our home, and not cater only to the demands and priorities of this decaying world?

Bring everything into proper focus, Lord,

“Guard your heart from any distraction that takes you to a place other than what I have planned for you. In these end times, there will be many sirens wooing you to follow them. They will attempt to draw your heart to good things and wonderful-sounding missions that have little to do with My design for your life. Do not follow them for their end is less than My plan for you. Anything that allows you to remain where you are at present is not My plan. Anything that does not bring you to more time with Me - more intimate, deeper moments and the quiet direction of My heart - is a plan to steal your crowns.

I am calling My people to intimacy. I am calling My true believers to move in directions that are foreign to the carnal believer. I am soon going to ask you to break out of the typical spiritual box in which you are required to remain to be accepted by those who have shut out My voice. You will not be able to move with Me if your priority is not to be with Me. You will only be able to hear what your flesh feels, if Our time together does not break your fears and carnal thoughts. When I direct the steps of My intimate friends, logic and comfort are not My priority; safety is not My goal. I will place My warriors in situations to accomplish My will.

To the one who has not spent enough time with Me to understand My heart, these movements and actions will appear foolish at times. Make sure that you ponder the things I call you to ponder. Make sure that you hear your directions from My mouth, not from the mouths of the many voices sent to distract you. Come to Me so that you are sure of your commands, then move with confidence that My presence is with you. I am waiting.”

Matt. 4:4 NIV

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Mark 4: 24 AMP

And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you – and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

Gal. 5:16-17 AMP

16But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

17For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.

II Tim. 4:3-4 AMP

3For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold,

4And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.

A bloody death on a cross made no sense to the highly-respected religious leaders of that time. Speaking in dialects foreign to their upbringing was foolishness to those who did not understand. Giving away all that they possessed, so that others would not have need, was scorned by many with greedy hearts. Acting in a way that meant a sure prison sentence was frowned upon by the logical mind of the leaders of Christian communities of that time. Continually writing letters of teaching, encouragement, correction, and rebuke - especially from a prison cell - seemed of little value when there were so many wonderful, well-established teachers right in the midst of your readers.

Only those who are unashamedly in love with Jesus see merit in some of the directives that God gives to those He can trust. Only those who have little fondness to be accepted by others will have the strength to move with God on missions that He alone understands. All others will flounder in the mire of tradition, logic, and status quo when radical love of the Father is required and unquestioned obedience is necessary.

Father God is training those who have ears to hear. He is communicating His plans to those who desire to spend time on His lap and move from there, only to hasten to return after being obedient to a command. It is the opposite of a works-oriented religion. It is the antithesis of the power-seeking, safety-conscious church mentality.

In a world where the line between right and wrong moves with the whims of those in power, where the difference between knowing truth and following a good-sounding lie is becoming almost impossible to discern, and where the normal footings of logic and reason are discarded, the Lord provides the only wisdom that can be trusted. His “foolish” directives smack in the face of modern “reason” the same as they have throughout the centuries.

Only those craving to know their true purpose in life – those who call upon the Lord and Him alone for wisdom, and wait in His presence until they hear His desires - will move above the clatter of the world. They may look out-of-step with everyone else, even the “wise” in the church; but they will be in perfect cadence with the One who is worth following.

Wanting only You to direct my steps, Lord,

“I call you as My vessel of service. Once you respond, I anoint your hands to do My work. I bring My presence. I bring all that I am to what you do, so that your efforts last for eternity. You need to stop worrying if what I call you to do is important. If I call, if I anoint, if I bring My presence, it is important!”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Eph. 2:10 AMP

For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Heb. 13:20-21 AMP

20Now may the God of peace [Who is the Author and the Giver of peace], Who brought again from among the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood [that sealed, ratified] the everlasting agreement (covenant, testament),

21Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it).

So many times, we are expecting the lightning flashes and thunder bolts to occur when we do something for God. A long time ago someone shared something that has stayed with me in the many years we have been in ministry. He said that “ministry is a whole bunch of ordinary days.” How true that has become over the years.

However, because our Lord is so gracious and loves us so much, He often shows up to encourage us in some way when the very ordinary days become long and tiresome, when we feel as if nothing is happening and we are useless.

One lesson that might be very important for all of us to learn is the fact that it is not our job to see results. Our job is to simply be obedient. If God calls us to something, He will see that the results add to His plan. He will accomplish His will through us. All we really need to do is respond to His call.

Teach me to hear You and then move with You, Lord,

“Have you ever studied a piece of equipment that was designed to perform a specific task? You will notice several different characteristics about that piece, the most significant one being that there are very limited uses outside of its intended purpose. That is the way I formed you when you gave your life to Jesus. You really fit nowhere other than where I call you to be. You really excel at little, other than the task that I give you to do. You can take great comfort in that. The world and most of the church will attempt to conform you to their mold. Most of the time, it’s to hinder or nullify your effectiveness. You need to seek wise counsel, but never allow anyone other than Me to direct your steps.

I have formed you in the womb. You have a specific task that I have designed for you to accomplish. No one else can do your calling better than you. If you have not understood what your calling is, seek Me with all of your heart. You must make this search your priority. It will be the foundation for all that you do. If you have received your task and realize that you have little ability to accomplish it in your own strength, that is My design. You will need Me for every step that you take.

My heart will prevail because of your need of Me. In the coming times, it will be very important that you are where I intend you to be. It will be the only safe place for you. If you have not sought My heart for your direction, if you haven’t understood who you are in Me, you will never know for sure where that place might be. More importantly, you will not have fulfilled My desire for your life. That would be tragic.”

John 4:34 NIV

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Eph. 3:7-9 NIV

7I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.

8Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

For twenty years, I had sought to find real direction for my life. I had been in fulltime ministry most of that time, which included traveling, preaching, running a radio station, holding Bible studies, running singles groups, and writing books. My mission statement had been, “To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through any and all means available.” Somehow, though, there was a need in me to know my specific calling, not just me doing good stuff to please the Lord.

When the Lord showed me that I was doing exactly what was intended for me from the beginning of time, I felt like I was home. It was one of those moments that is difficult to explain, touching me in a manner that only the Lord can do.

I found a r̩sum̩ of my life Рsomething many never seek Him for long enough to be sure of their calling. He showed me that my mission statement was right on.

I now find that I fit nowhere else. I can do nothing other than this. It is what I eat, sleep, drink, and talk about all the time. When I am not writing or speaking about Jesus, I am out of my calling. Many people and situations have attempted to make me do something else. Sometimes during dark times, I fleetingly think of finding a typical job to ease the pressures of our faith outreach; but I know that I can’t change my calling - no matter how difficult it gets - any more than I can fly. I have been designed by the Lord to do nothing else. So, here I am - a custom-made, uniquely formed, totally dependent, fluffy, punch-drunk lover of Jesus - happy only when I am proclaiming His virtues and His Father’s heart.

The shoe may look silly sometimes, but it’s mine and it fits,

“You need to guard your heart in the coming times. There are many ways in which the enemy has access to you. He will use any means to rob you of your relationship with Me. I know that you have learned to place yourself in My hands and use My Word to protect yourself from the deceits with which you are familiar, but many unfamiliar forms of treachery are on the horizon. They are designed to destroy the uninitiated. Make sure that you are aware of them, so that you will not fall. If you were to walk into familiar surroundings, you would know how to function there. If, however, your everyday surroundings become so unfamiliar that they are unrecognizable, you will be faced with challenges never seen before.

Be prepared for ever-increasing changes that are soon to come. New challenges will require an ever-increasing depth to Our fellowship, so that you will function above the presented situations. Fear will be the predominant spirit that you will need to overcome. Replace it with trust in Me. Continually be renewed by My Word, so that you have a benchmark to work from when all is turned upside down. Anger and hatred will follow closely behind astonishment at what you are observing. Do not allow them a foothold in your heart, or you will not be able to hear Me clearly when I need you to know truth.

You must remember that these are the times for which you have been created. I have been preparing you for this very moment in time. I am training and equipping you with My right hand. You will not fail, because I am with you.”

Ps. 10:17-18 AMP

17O Lord, You have heard the desire and the longing of the humble and oppressed; You will prepare and strengthen and direct their hearts, You will cause Your ear to hear,

18To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man, who is of the earth, may not terrify them any more.

I Cor.3:18-20 NIV

18Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise.

19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness,”

20and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

II Cor. 4:16-18 AMP

16Therefore we do not become discouraged (utterly spiritless, exhausted, and wearied out through fear). Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day.

17For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

18Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

I Pe. 5:7-10 AMP

7Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

8Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

9Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.

10And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.

I usually seek out news items that come from sources other than mainstream television or radio reports. As I was updating myself the other day, I drew back for a moment to really make myself aware of what I was reading - events such as bombings, potential wars that more than likely will have some impact locally, people killing for no apparent reason or for some minor infraction of their space, and so on.

As little as two or three years ago, some of the items that are news today would bring such fear and disgust, that they would be unbearable. Now, they are so common that we have become desensitized to their horror. We accept them as part of daily living.

There is no question that our world is changing at a rapid rate. Truth is, it will never be the same as it was, even as recently as ten years ago. Back then, there seemed to be familiar standards and reasonable responses to most situations. Now, receiving the news - whether on TV or other sources - is chilling because of illogical, almost inhuman actions, some almost unbelievably sadistic, which are presented as everyday occurrences.

Over the years, godlessness has taken its toll in our land to the point that we’ve become a people who would be unrecognizable as human, in many instances, if someone would observe us with even mid-twentieth-century eyes. We have changed drastically in our actions, in our responses to challenges, and even in how we resolve our conflicts. The single news category of children killing children, a horror that once was unthinkable and almost unheard of, has become a frequent event in today’s society. It has become so commonplace that the rational mind has had to either not think about it, or place it somewhere with the unbelievable.

I am convinced that we, as the human race, are seeing the results of our sin in this land. I would almost go so far as to say that we have been turned over to our sin. If that is so, we haven’t seen anything compared to what is ahead.

We, those of us who have been in training to represent Jesus - the only antidote for what is occurring, must stop playing the “Christian” game; and accept the position intended for us while there is still time. Souls are in desperate need of a Savior. The world is screaming for answers. How we represent that “Answer” is up to us. Will we heed the wooing of the Lord and function as we were intended to function in the world in which we live, prodding ourselves to truly hear our directives; or will we continue to play “ostrich” and openly display our self-serving, disobedient hearts to the hopeless world?

Needing to start implementing what I have been taught,

“I am calling you back to first love. That means a one and only love. That means a priority love. It also means that you love only what I love, just as Jesus does. There can be no other loves ahead of your love for Me and My Word, if you say that you are a follower of Jesus. If you are Mine through Him, you have His heart. You have His priorities. You should be caring only about the things He cares about and what I care about.

Why do you serve so many loves? Who has deceived you into thinking that you can love anything of the world and still be in line with My desires for your life? You are like an unfaithful bride, looking to find other more fulfilling partners just before your wedding day. Repent now! Turn completely to Me. I will share My best only with those who desire all of Me, those who have surrendered themselves fully to Me.”

Isaiah 43:21 NIV

the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

Zechariah 7:13 NIV

“‘When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’says the Lord Almighty.”

Joshua 7:13 AMP

Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel; There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel, you can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction].

Amos 5:4b AMP

…Seek Me [inquire for and of Me and require Me as you require food] and you shall live!

James 4: 8-10 AMP

8Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

9[As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins].

10Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

Rev 2:2-5 NIV

2“I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.

3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”

The person who is pure in heart sees God in every encounter and every situation, because he has a pure heart for God. He also continually sees others as God sees them. The pure heart knows that God does everything out of love and understands that anything done in the flesh is opposed to God and embraces God’s desire to remove it.

The pure heart willingly trades his legal rights for the higher calling of submission, repentance, and forgiveness; and will do whatever God asks, no matter what the cost, simply because God is pleased. The pure in heart no longer listens to any dictates of the flesh, so God is able to use him in any way that He chooses. He is subject to God’s higher laws, and obeys only what God has determined to be true. He sees God’s truths. Pleasing God is the highest calling to the pure in heart.

I choose to love only You, Lord. Create first love for You in me,

“Few of you realize how you are supposed to live your lives. You have been given Jesus to show you the way for you to prosper. When He overcame death, He destroyed every stronghold that has any power over you. He demolished your enemies and provided the proper tools for you to live in absolute prosperity as I see prosperity. You have the means to tread on every demonic power, so that nothing can in any way harm you.

Walk in the freedom that has been provided for you. Nothing has changed; Jesus still provides the same safety for you. Draw upon His power. Submit to His work. Find the situations around you that concern Him, and allow His life to flow through you. See that eternal wealth demolish whatever comes against you over and over again, any time you need it. Your job is to praise Him in the midst of whatever He is doing for you.”

Matthew 5:38-48 NIV

38“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’

39But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.

41If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

42Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

43“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteousness.

46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?

48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Matthew 11:12 KJV

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

2 Cor. 10:3-5 NIV

3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The most violent act in the history of mankind was the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When we think of His death, we usually think of the way in which the soldiers made hamburger out of His flesh and hung Him on a cross. When we think of His resurrection, we think of the tomb and the stone that was rolled away. We have these holy card pictures of a white-robed man with sparkle dust all around Him, who emerges from the burial chamber with His arms in the air. The world says “big deal,” and people continue on their way without breaking stride.

The violence that occurred on the actual battlefield - the heavenly realms - was beyond our most active imaginations. Every demonic force executed their pent up vengeance on the One who they knew was God. It was their opportunity to release their sadistic hatred for what had been done to them in the eternal past. They were seizing their unbelievable opportunity to inflict horror on the One they hated most, knowing that their counterparts, the angels, had turned their backs while they gleefully took their turns.

When God the Father said “enough,” every demonic stronghold was shattered by the Word as it enforced its eternal authority throughout every region of heaven. Unfathomable havoc was implemented against every rebellion that ever existed. The demonic realm suffered a deathblow over any power they once had. It was violence personified.

All powers in that dark realm are still under the Lordship of Jesus. Whenever He is called upon to be the Truth in that world of lies on our behalf, the battle is already won. There is no struggle. There are no options for our enemies. It is finished! Praise His Holy Name!

Always calling on You, Jesus,

“Too often the cares of your day hinder your ability to trust Me. You look at the challenges before you and they loom big in your eyes. Trust Me! Trust My promises to you. I am faithful. Often I delay answers to make you turn your heart around to Me. When I am more important than your problems, answers will come. I love you! You are Mine. I will take care of you!”

Mark 4:18-19 AMP

18And the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word;

19Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.

2 Cor. 1:8-10 NIV

8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.

9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us…

Father God is developing a bridal heart and the same character that Jesus has in those who will respond. We must be like Him in our hearts if we are to intimately walk with Him and live passionately for Him. Can you imagine Jesus coming for a church that is selfish, self-centered, and harbors murder in her heart?

Can you imagine Him enjoining Himself to one who looks to the delicacies around her that please her more than He pleases her? Does it seem possible that Jesus would function in a relationship where His bride would not have the same desires, the same motives, and the same purposes in all that they do together? To think so is ludicrous!

How then is Jesus going to form us, who need His character developed in us during these end days, before He comes? He is going to allow us to see who we really are. He will allow us to face ourselves, so that we can come to repentance. He will do what it takes to expose our sin. Each time we repent, He will change us to be more like Him. It is an act of astounding love on His part. It is also our choice to respond or reject His efforts.

Make me who I need to be, Lord,

“Purity has a purpose. The pure in heart will be able to understand My heart. You will be able to gain insight into Who I am and why I do what I do. As you remove all of the clutter that darkens your reasoning process, you will be able to move closer to Me. We will move in concert. I will be able to trust you with more of My plans, for you will desire to implement them with honest motives. Come to Me today to be cleansed from everything that the world has to offer. Come to gain My heart in everything you do. If you see with My heart, you will see Me and your world much differently.”

Ps. 24:3-4 AMP

3Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place?

4He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully.

Matthew 5:8 NIV

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

Luke 12:1 NIV

Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”

Phil.4:8 AMP

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

One year, Merry and I had the opportunity to watch the Super Bowl with some fellow believers. Actually, we watched very little of the game, but had a delightful time simply being with those who loved the Lord and are pursuing Him with all of their hearts.

When half-time came, the so called “entertainment” intruded upon us with the kind of filth that violated the senses of everyone in the room to the point that we turned the TV off and began to pray. The program was embarrassing and an intrusion upon everything we believed.

I know that what is happening to the world is predicted. I know that we are coming closer to the coming of our Lord and that the world is being prepared to accept anything that is not of Christ. I see the world getting darker, but I also see the remnant believer desiring to be separated from anything that is of that world.

As we are able to see Who our Lord is with less distorted vision, anything having true value is compared only to His beauty. He becomes the benchmark for what is worthwhile in our lives to the point that dark values become distasteful and putrid. Those who love them are seen as pawns who need Jesus, rather than those to be envied and idolized.

Create in me a clean heart, Lord,

“Rejoice that the living Christ is in you, radiant in power to overcome anything and everything when you surrender to Him fully. He is delighted to live His life through you. It is the wonder of the cross. It is the astounding benefit of surrendering to Him.”

Galatians 2:20 AMP

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]: it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

The Holy Spirit is wooing the church of Jesus Christ to prepare as a bride would prepare for a coming wedding of hearts. Through trials, tribulations, and extreme challenges, He is posturing each of us to get our priorities straight. By leading us to the end of ourselves, and placing a new hope in those who will listen, He is calling us to set aside all of the ways of the world and embrace the ways of Jesus as our only reason for living. In doing so, we will be prepared for His coming and able to overcome the hazards that are soon to come our way.

This call is a call to holiness - a pursuit oftentimes not considered attainable or even a necessary part of every Christian’s heart - which will initiate a bridal heart desire that will allow the Lord to live His passionate life through devoted, surrendered vessels. It can be one of the most exciting adventures of your life if your heart’s desire is to increasingly make room for more of the most priceless treasure ever given to anyone – Jesus Christ. As you respond to the heart of God and increasingly develop a posture of waiting for Jesus’ timely return, you will then guide others to His heart as more hear the same call.

Help me to remember that You go with me wherever I go, Lord,

“Do you realize that the simplicity of your life is about the heart choices you make and their outcome? Your most important choice is whether or not you choose to come to Me and live in the restored relationship I have provided through Jesus. Your decision has obvious eternal joys or consequences.

What most fail to understand is that that choice is about Lordship; not whether Jesus is Lord or not, He is. It is about your submission to His Lordship over you. The degree to which you submit to His Lordship over you reveals more than you realize. I observe how submissive your heart is and how willing you are to immerse yourself in His ways; then I make choices. Some of My choices will surprise you if you haven’t submitted your heart fully to Him.”

Exodus 33:13 NIV

“'If I have found favor in your eyes, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you…”

Joshua 24:15 NIV

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Romans 12:1 NIV

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God…

Ephesians 3:16-17 AMP

16May He grant you out of the rich treasure of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality]

17May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deeply in love and founded securely on love,…

Lordship has a very clear definition in spiritual terms. It zeroes in on heart position and shows us who we really serve, not who we say we serve. God has committed Himself to have us fully surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Herein lies one of the most wonderful truths of our association with God because of Jesus. God’s part of our covenant is to make sure that we do not remain unlike Jesus. He is continually reminding us that we have sold our old life to Him. (Actually, He bought it from us. The price was the blood of Jesus.)

If we attempt to hold on to our lives, striving to maintain any semblance of control over them, we will lose their real value. If we voluntarily lose our lives, willingly taking the posture of Jesus by giving everything away to God, we gain more than we could ever believe possible. When we choose to make these fleeting moments in time that we call our lifetime all about the glory of the Lord, He shows us that He has far more for us than if we had been concerned only for ourselves.

It works like this: If we really do give everything away, He draws so close to us that our nature is superseded by His nature; and consequently, we care less and less about our own needs the more we come to Him. (Supersede – to force out of use as inferior, to take the place, room, or position of.) Our surrender causes the Lord to develop in us the character of Christ - a nature that is deeply in love with the Father and wanting only His desires - in place of our selfish, carnal character. The freedom achieved through our submission is the really good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God lovingly brings us out of the horrors of our fleshly nature.

I choose to fully submit to Your ways, Lord,

“Is it any fun? Is Our relationship fun for you? I watch you; I notice you. You walk around with no clue as to how I invest My heart in you, and grieve when you are burdened by your life. Do you know that My Son laughed and cried and prayed and taught with great zeal? He found fullness in the life that He had been given. I want you to do the same. I want you to have the heart of a zealot in whatever you do. When you laugh, rejoice with Me. When you are being taught a deep lesson, one that is destroying your flesh, remember that it is My great love for you behind that lesson; so embrace it passionately. When you love, do it with abandon as He did.

Everything is being done for your good, so take joy even in the hard times. My Son surely did not enjoy the cross, but He did look forward to the joy His work would bring to others. Act like that. Take joy in My work being done in you. Take joy in each circumstance that comes to you, knowing that more than you could possibly know is being done by My power. I am your Father. I love you. Know that I am with you through this life. I have planned it; I have ordained it. One day you will rejoice with all of Us Who have gone through it with you.”

Eph. 3:19 AMP

[That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

I Thess. 5:16-18 AMP

16Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always);

17Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];

18Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

Jas. 1:2-4 AMP

2Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.

3Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.

4But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

Have you ever watched a good worker? I once had the privilege of observing an apprentice in a woodworking shop. It so happened that the apprentice was also the son of the craftsman. It was wonderful to watch the young man tackle every task he was given with zeal. He did more than accomplish a job; he honed his skills at every opportunity.

Whenever his father was showing him a new skill, he was engrossed with every movement, every tool, and every word that the father used to describe the trade that he was imparting to his son. When the son was left on his own, I would notice the father - who was doing his own work - glance in the direction of his son to see how he was doing. If the son was not doing something exactly as he was shown, the father gently guided the boy until he got it right, encouraging him all the way. At the end of the task, the father and son took a great deal of time communicating what had been learned. It was beautiful.

The day that I was there, the son had to leave early. I watched as he cleaned up and walked out the doorway, thanking his father for what he had shared that day. The father stopped our conversation and followed his son with his eyes until he could see him no longer. Only then did he come back to me. When he did resume our conversation, his first words were: “He’s a good boy. I am really blessed.”

I think that our Father in heaven thinks about us like that. I don’t believe He cares about how well we do at any given task. I believe that He simply wants to be with us as we enthusiastically hone our skills. I also believe that He lovingly follows us with His eyes, like a pleased Father, as we go about our day.

Thank You, Father, for Your time with me,

Jim Corbett

“What changes will you make to your life to be exactly where I want you to be so that I can use you? Will you pack your belongings and move to a place you do not know? Will you leave all that you have to be in My will? I call you My ambassadors. I need you to represent Me to those who need to see Jesus. Go and give Him away. Go and bless others as I have blessed you. You can be sure that wherever I send you, there are those who need you waiting to know you. Many have been praying for new best friends. Maybe that friend is you!”

Isa. 6:8 AMP

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

John 10:27 AMP

The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.

John 20:21 AMP

Then Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you! [Just] as the Father has sent Me forth, so I am sending you.

2 Cor.5:20 NIV

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us…

The Lord is positioning His people for His end-time work. That is really quite a thrilling prospect. It means that on new horizons with unfamiliar people, you and I may find cities of refuge, holy alliances, and kinsman friendships who will walk with us during the times to come.

Often when our loving Father stirs up our nest and makes our comfort zone a little less comfortable, He has a mission for us. If that is the case in your life right now, if you are feeling that nudging to respond to His adventure, get to it! You may be amazed at how perfect the place that he sends you to fits the preparation you have been going through. It may be an incredibly difficult experience, an astounding joy, or both. Whatever the case, it is tailor made for you if you are hearing from God.

Move me wherever You want me to go, Lord,

“I am preparing you for the darkness ahead. Be assured, it is on the way. As a festering sore, those who hate Me are beginning to infect each corner of the world. Soon it will appear as if those with loud mouths and deceitful hearts are winning over My Word. Do not be fooled. My Word will stand. My promises will happen. I am God; there is no other!”

Psalm 3:1-6 AMP

1Lord, How they are increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.

2Many are saying of me, there is no help for him in God. Selah [pause and calmly think of that]!

3But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

4With my voice I cry to the Lord and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill. Selah [pause and calmly think of that]!

5I lay down and slept, I awakened again, for the Lord sustains me.

6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.

Psalm 46:1 AMP

God is our Refuge and Strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.

Psalm 119:89 NIV

Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.

Isaiah 46:9-10 AMP

9[Earnestly] remember the former things, [which I did] of old; for I am God, and there is no one else; I am God, and there is none like Me.

10Declaring the end and the result from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure and purpose.

Isaiah 48:3 NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

The Word of God can be trusted no matter how loudly enemies portray their power, no matter how strong they might appear; and no matter how often they violate the truth. Everywhere in today’s world there are those who say that the Lord Jesus is not Lord and King. Nothing changes the fact that He is. Everywhere in today’s world there are those who deny the fact that the Word of God is real. Nothing changes the fact that it is and that it is directly from God. Now is the time for each of us to determine in our hearts to believe fully what we know to be true.

Confirm in my heart what You have taught me, Lord,

“Jesus always completes what He has begun in you. The work of the cross is as powerful today as it was on that day on Calvary. His blood is as fresh this moment as it was the moment the first drop left His body. My Word is as sharp and powerful as it was the instant I spoke. Nothing has changed. Nothing has diminished over time. My promises are real and for all of eternity. They are as accurate as when I gave them to My vessels.

All that I have said will come to pass. It is unfolding this very moment. You can rely on the cross, My Word, and My promises. Apply them to your life. Nothing can stop them from accomplishing what I intend them to accomplish. Trust in them, because you can trust Me!”

Isaiah 48:3 NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

Isaiah 66:9 AMP

Shall I bring to the [moment of] birth and not cause to bring forth? says the Lord. Shall I who causes to bring forth shut the womb? says your God.

John 1:1-5 NIV

1In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God.

2He was with God in the beginning.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

4In him was life and that life was the light of men.

5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

Romans 8:38 NIV

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 3:14-19 NLB

14When I think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,

15the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.

16I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.

17And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.

18And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.

19May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Hebrews 12:2 NIV

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…

Feeling our present and future pain of separation from the Father, there was nothing that He could do but spend His life for us. His focus was on our loss. He cared about what would happen to us if He didn’t intervene on our behalf.

Having no separation between His heart and the heart of His Father, He also took as His own the loss that the Father had because of the sin of mankind, which caused separation. Father longed for all those He loved to cherish His glory for their well-being. Because the Father felt that way, so did Jesus - not in an elementary form of human caring, but with all of the compassions of the Father. When He moved in compassion, our needs and pains were taken on by Him as His own.

I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief,

“Are you ready to be entrusted with more? I don’t mean for you to do more programs, nor am I asking you to take on more work. I am questioning whether you have heeded My calls and My warnings to prepare your heart for more of Me. I give Myself to those who desire to live the life of Jesus in front of those who need to see Him. To gain His life requires your death.

Have you asked to be broken before Me? Have you renewed your commitment to His Lordship over every area of your life? Are you longing only for His return? Is your sole purpose for living My purpose for your life? How can I trust you with more if you have not honored what I have already given you? I desire to give you more of Me, but I can’t until you are ready to receive it, and use it properly. I am waiting!”

2 Cor. 5:14-15 AMP

14For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died;

15And He died for all, so that all those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake.

2 Cor. 5:20 NIV

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.

Luke 12:48b AMP

For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more.

All over this nation and in some parts of the world, Merry and I are communicating with people who are hearing the call of preparation. It is a remnant call of holiness, death to self, and full devotion to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I believe that it is the bridal call.

For many years, the Holy Spirit has been wooing lovers of Jesus to separate themselves unto Him and Him alone. Those who have responded are setting aside the trappings of the world and of self to prepare as a waiting bride would prepare. Nothing is too difficult, no price is too high, and no measure is too great for those in waiting. They are truly no longer their own. Their only goal is to be more like, and therefore honor, the only One they love.

Break my heart, Lord,

Jim Corbett
