“Why do you have preconceived notions as to how I am going to answer your prayers? Most of you miss many of My answers, because you are looking for something other than what I have provided for you. You need to look around and try to see My answers to your requests that may already be in your midst. Remember, I always give Myself. That means that My answers come in forms that have to do with strengthening your faith or solidifying your resolve to serve Me.

Take the time to observe the patterns of your past requests and compare them to how they were answered. Learn My heart. Learn My ways. You will be surprised at how you have missed some wonderful answers simply because you did not recognize them.”

Matt. 13:54-58 AMP

54And coming to His own country [Capernaum], He taught in their synagogue so that they were amazed with bewildered wonder, and said, Where did this Man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?

55Is not this the carpenter’s Son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?

56And do not all His sisters live here among us? Where then did this Man get all this?

57And they took offense at Him [that is, they were repelled and hindered from acknowledging His authority, and caused to stumble]. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.

58And He did not do many works of power there, because of their unbelief (their lack of faith in the divine mission of Jesus).

John 1:45-46 AMP

45Philip sought and found Nathanael and told him, We have found (discovered) the One Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote about – Jesus from Nazareth, the [legal] son of Joseph!

46Nathanael answered him, [Nazareth!] Can anything good come out of Nazareth? Philip replied, Come and see!”

II Cor. 10:10 AMP

For they say, His letters are weighty and impressive and forceful and telling, but his personality and bodily presence are weak, and his speech and delivery are utterly contemptible (of no account).

There are no knights in shining armor, no new redeemers, and no super-spiritual appearing people that are going to come to our rescue. If the Lord sends people when we pray for help, they will point us to Jesus. They will be ordinary, common, everyday people who have spent time with God and have words from the lap of our Father. They will come from common places and have common backgrounds. They will also have an uncommon relationship with the Lord.

Most every answer of God will be a challenge to have us draw closer to the Father in heaven. They will show us the coldness of our own hearts or our dead religion, challenging us to be broken before the Lord. Instead of God changing someone else or our circumstances, He has been known to first change us, allowing us to see our situations through His eyes before things change outwardly. God is in the business of refining His people to become more and more like Jesus. He sometimes uses our requests to show us our needs and improper heart motives, and then reveal His kind of answers.

Let me see with Your eyes, Lord,

“Do you know that there are people living at this moment who have the seed of hatred in their hearts, waiting to inflict their fury on My people? They will attempt to destroy you simply because you belong to Me. Did you also know that while they are being trained to murder by their father, I am training you to love them? I want you to pray for them. In fact, I want you to pray for the person who hates you enough to kill you and those you love.

These are My closing hours. This is the time for which all of heaven has been waiting. It is preparing for wondrous, predicted events. Your earth is groaning as if it were getting ready for childbirth. I need bridal-hearted warriors to function as Jesus would, not self-focused hypocrites. Which are you? For what are you in training? Are you even in training in your heart?

If your heart is completely Mine, nothing is more important to you than submitting to My will. If it is not, you may one day hate just as your enemy does. You will join the ranks of those who demand that I relieve their pain and remove them from their circumstances, instead of acquiring what is needed to overcome and bring others to Me. One day, you may even curse Me just as My enemies do.”

Luke 6:45-46 AMP

45The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks.

46Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you?

Luke 9:23-25 AMP

23And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself [disown himself, forget, lose sight of himself and his own interests, refuse and give up himself] and take up his cross daily and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying also].

24For whoever would preserve his life and save it will lose and destroy it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he will preserve and save it [from the penalty of eternal death].

25For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself?

Luke 12:19-21 NIV

19‘And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’

20“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

I am more and more convinced that there are going to be many, many very surprised people who have answered an altar call and have continued to live for themselves, all masked in the cloak of Christianity. I am also deeply concerned for those teachers who have allowed them to remain in their complacency.

At this very moment, Father God is calling for a holy people, a generation who has heard the call to do whatever it takes to gain and function in the bridal heart of Jesus. There is no other call out there for those who claim to be Christians.

Make emulating You my only priority, Lord,

“Fools rush to their past sin. They focus on the world and its demands. My children rush to My heart. I call those I love to an intimacy with Me. It is there you will find everything needed to live the kind of life that Jesus lived. His kind of living overcomes the world.

Come to intimacy. Come into My presence. Jesus has won that place for you. His death destroyed the barrier between us. His life is the example that you can follow. His power is yours if you choose to walk in it. His love gives you the right to call on My Name and be called by His.

You are part of My plan. Come, so that I can show you your part. Come to Me, so that I can show you My love. Come to Me, so that I can show you My ways. Come to Me, so that you can know My heart. Come to Me just because you can. I am waiting.”

Luke 23:44-45 NIV

44It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,

45for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

Hebrews 4:16 NIV

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Access to the inner chambers of God has been provided for us by the work of Jesus on the cross. His death and subsequent resurrection opened the door of communication for us. We now have unlimited audience with God whenever we have any kind of need, question, or just a desire to spend time with Him. It is one of the covenant commitments God made with Jesus for us. In God’s eyes, we have exchanged our old carnal life for a new spiritual life that is accepted by Him forever. The covenant cannot be broken.

In prayer, there is a connection between what God does and what you are to do. Prayer (communication with God) is the vehicle that Father God has established for us to navigate from the physical realm to the spiritual realm and back again to accomplish His will from heaven to earth through us.

Through this communication and because of the work of Jesus, God brings Himself, His plans, and His very being into His established tabernacles – us. Within the communication, we present our requests for all that is necessary for us to become who we need to be. Our Father also communicates His will to us. It is true communication between the Creator and His creation, with Father God all the while fine tuning our encounters with Him through the Holy Spirit.

Teach me how to stay there, Lord,

“My heart is really with those of you who are selling out to Me. Thank you. I have great love for all of My children. What you do or don’t do does not determine how much I love you. My love never changes. Your desire to press in and know Me does, however, allow Me to reveal more of Myself to you. I can show My plans to you. I can share My heart. We can work on yours together. Thank you for hearing My call to holiness. Thank you for pressing in and desiring intimacy. I am delighted when My children understand My ways and walk in obedience to them. My ways always lead to intimacy.”

Matthew 19:14 NIV

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Mark 6:30-32 NIV

30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.

31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

32So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.

John 5:19-20 NIV

19Jesus gave them this answer: “‘I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does.”

Jesus was always showing us His relationship with His Father, so that we would emulate Him when He restored our relationship with Father God. So many of us miss one of the most important results of the death and resurrection of Jesus—our acceptance into the presence of God. No small thing!

Immature believers go to God for things. Mature believers go for more of God and His ways. The mature heart longs to please God and is a wonder to behold. This is the passionate heart of Jesus. It is also the bridal heart, prepared and waiting for Christ, the one that will overcome and even prosper during the perilous times ahead. As Jesus is one with the Father, the mature or bridal heart beats in unison with Them both.

This heart sees only the Father’s will as important, only the Father’s plans as worth addressing throughout life. The world, the cold church, and all else in the physical realm hold no audience with this heart. There is no purpose but God’s purpose, no plan but God’s plan, no future but God’s future. This heart is untouchable in its alliance with God. It is in total freedom in its chosen “slavery” to only the Father’s will.

Develop a mature heart in me, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Do you know that I love watching your lives unfold? You are the stars in the eternal drama that is history in the making. As a true Father, there are many demonstrations of My love that bring you into the fullness of My salvation process. I must respond to your needs and your actions to make sure that you become complete. Any real father has to encourage, goad, chastise, and guide.

Most of all, however, I love to love you. I love to watch you respond to My calling. I truly enjoy seeing you grow strong in understanding. I love to observe you when you flow in My Word. Most of all, it thrills Me when I see you flowing in My love, not only My love toward you, but My love in you toward others. When you function in both of those realms, you are living the kind of life for which I have formed you. You are complete.

I know that presently you can only dwell in love, complete love, for very short periods at a time. Sometimes you have little understanding of My love toward you, especially when times are difficult. Other times you find it difficult to love others. To do so you must take your eyes off of what is best for you and live what is best for them, like Jesus did. I also know, however, that as you draw near to Me, you will be able to love deeper more often. Eventually, you will realize that honest loving is why you have been born of the Spirit, and that love is your strongest weapon and your truest joy.

Learn to flow in love. Do not function in the fickle, self-serving love of your former nature, but the kind of love inspired in the heavenlies, the kind that I have instituted to last for eternity. My love overcomes, creates, heals, and transcends every negative element in life, now and forever. My love is for you to receive and then give away. Flow in it.”

Romans 12:9-10, 16 NIV

9Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

10Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

1 Cor. 13:12b-13 NIV

12bNow I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Eph. 5:1-2 NIV

1Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children

2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Eph. 5:10 AMP

And try to learn [in your experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [let your lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him].

Rev. 3:19 AMP

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

Our limited understanding denies the power of real love. Because we can only comprehend the kind of love that exists on earth—an emotional, evasive, sometimes fleeting kind of love—we have difficulty seeing the wealth of loving God’s way, wealth that is to us and for us.

Do a study of God’s kind of love. You will see that the word itself will take on new meaning. (That was a dual reference. I mean the word “love” and the Word, meaning the Bible.)

Out of a heart of love, God spoke this world into being, created mankind, installed the redemption process, remains patient until all things are fulfilled, and promises eternal freedom. Those are not small items that can be accomplished by flighty, emotional feelings. Our kind of love is so limited in scope that we don’t associate it with such power in action. Love, however, is the foundation for all that is done in God’s economy. Maybe it’s time to learn what it’s all about, and then make functioning in it our priority.

Wanting to understand God’s kind of love,

“‘How can it be?’ you say. ‘That couldn’t happen to us,’ you tell others. How blind you are. You cannot see the signs all around you that tell you to prepare in earnest for the coming of My Son. How foolish your life is to those who really love Me. You live the days that I have given you devoted to your own needs. You walk past those whom I have given to you with a cold, uncaring heart. They are dying, and you are unaffected by their plight. You are awakened only when you are in peril. You are like drunken sailors on shore leave. Your only quest is to live for the next moment before you must return to work. My work has become burdensome to you. Now I will yoke you to a heavy plow to end your foolishness, and return your heart to Me.”

I Sam. 16:7b AMP

For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

Matt. 9:37-38 AMP

37Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few.

38So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.

Matt. 13:22 AMP

As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit.

Matt. 24:42-46 AMP

42Watch therefore [give strict attention, be cautious and active], for you do not know in what kind of a day [whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming.

43But understand this: had the householder known in what [part of the night, whether in a night or a morning] watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be undermined and broken into.

44You also must be ready therefore, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.

45Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?

46Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is that servant whom, when his master comes, he will find so doing.

Ten years ago, most of us would have locked ourselves in our rooms, so frightened that we would not have been able to function, if the perils that we now deal with on a daily basis were present then. We have become so accustomed to the downward spiral of society—maybe not in your little corner, but in general—that we don’t even notice how horrible it really has become.

We are a nation at war. In a heartbeat, the comfortable lives that we live at present could be unrecognizable. At this very moment, there are people with aggressive agendas making sure that our lives do not remain the same for very long.

I am convinced that soon the world and most of the church will wander around from place to place wide-eyed, drooling at the mouth from fear and astonishment. Only those who know their Lord, and actually respond to the wooing to draw close to Him for His power to overcome the horrors during perilous times, will prosper. They will have unquenchable resources to bring souls into the kingdom of God, while others will be part of the huddling masses.

Somehow, most of us seem to desire to be casual observers rather than eager participants in the Lord’s work. We see the signs that were predicted in the Bible all around us. We know in our hearts that there is a time of trouble close at hand, but somehow we hope that we will be unaffected by what is about to occur. It is as if we are looking at our ever-changing world in an early morning stupor. It seems impossible to be shaken awake.

God, however, is about to do the shaking. He is about to take self-serving wimps and form them into gallant warriors for souls. In His economy, there is little time left to put up with our foolish, hedonistic lives. He has placed each of us in this generation to accomplish His will of gathering in the harvest before all is completed. He will make us into the kind of missionary that is needed for the times and seasons in which we live. It is His promise to those who press in and allow Him to do it in them. It is the only place of real safety.

Needing the strength to have the wisdom to even press in,

Jim Corbett

“Do you understand that I am preparing you? The reason I am stirring up the desire in your heart to draw close to Jesus is so that you will be prepared for the events that are soon coming your way. Only those who know My Word, know My heart, and know how to listen to Me for everything will be able to overcome the trials that are about to occur. Formulas will soon fail. Make-believe doctrines will be shown for what they really are.

Draw close to Me. Make Jesus the center of your life. Function in My Word. Submit to My training. Learn to need Me. I am calling you to intimacy.”

Isaiah 48:3 NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

Jeremiah 2:13 NIV

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

Luke 6:46 AMP

Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you?

Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Many of us forget that the trials that we are going through are for a greater purpose. We are being trained to hear the voice of God and move when and where He wants us to move in a time when the voices of the enemy are much louder and stronger than they are now.

The times in which we live are deadly for many reasons; but most of all, because we are incapable of really following God. Bad doctrines, false beliefs, immature understanding, and flat-out lazy Christianity have lulled us into a spiritual complacency. It is almost like we are in a drunken stupor, unable to shake loose from the ways of the world that have permeated the church. We need to pray and ask the Lord to stir our hearts. We need to wake up and remember the times in which we are living and our role in the fulfillment of those times. We need to get as serious with Jesus as He is with us.

Get me ready, Lord,

“I am with you! My presence will precede you. I will personally be your rear guard. I will build a hedge of protection to your right and to your left. Though your path may be strewn with challenges at times, I will make them straight as you turn to Me. Nothing shall harm you. I will guide you with My right hand. I will be your covering. You are called to do My will. Proceed with My plans. You cannot fail! I am with you!”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

Psalm 18:1-2 NIV

1I love you, O Lord, my strength.

2The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield…

Psalm 20:6-7 AMP

6Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

7Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

2 Cor. 2:14-16a NIV

14But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

15For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

16aTo the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life.

The life of Jesus was a stark contrast to the stagnant religion of the self-important, pompous, segregated, and aloof religious leaders of that day. Ordinary people were free to love Him because He loved them first, something never equated with things that were called “godly” up until that time.

Honest, longing people enthusiastically chased Him everywhere He went to hear more about and experience His kind of love. They chased Him until they themselves were caught up in the wonder of eternal life.

Have you ever wondered about the situations and conversations that Jesus had with His chosen twelve that were never chronicled? Have you ever thought about the jokes they played on each other, and the fun they must have had together? Remember, the guys that Jesus chose to be with were “from the street.” They were all very worldly and full of typical “guy stuff.”

It’s easy for you and me to forget that He was on a “God-designed” mission of love, His Father’s deep kind of love. He was fellowshipping first hand for the first time in the wonder of those He had actually created.

When Jesus walked on the earth, God was physically present with His creation for the first time since the Garden of Eden. His “adventure” allowed Him to experience the joy of those He loved first hand, while expressing His love to them, and at the same time birthing His Father’s kind of love in their hearts.

He may not have spoken a black ’57 Chevy convertible with fender skirts and a continental kit into existence for their entertainment or anything like that; but when He left their immediate presence, He sure had a bunch of devoted people to carry on His work. They were crazy in love with Him - crazy enough to enthusiastically set a passionate enough life course that would probably lead to their deaths.

After they understood the full impact of what they were called to do and were empowered by God to do it, they embraced their mission heartily. They chose an all-out, fully committed, enthusiastic denial of self, and embraced the life of the One who showed them what love really was. Their passion set the world on a course of change, just as yours could in this day. In fact, that is exactly what you have the privilege of doing.

The kind of adventure that the first century church embarked upon didn’t begin in them because the Lord simply preached good stuff, exhibited a sour countenance to hearty fishermen, or compromised His teachings while in private. They followed the example of a life worth following, a life worth dying for.

By Your power, Lord, help me to do the same,

Jim Corbett

“The impossible is simple for Me. I spoke the universe into existence. My desire brought you to life. My plan through Jesus allows you to spend eternity with Me. I am God and there is no other. Because I gave everyone a free will, however, some choose to spend eternity separate from Me. I will do much to allow them to see truth, but they have the ultimate choice. Those of you who see and hear truth must tell them, so that they can make that choice to accept Jesus before it’s too late. It breaks My heart that anyone should perish.”

2 Samuel 14:14b NIV

“But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

It fascinates me how some people blame God whenever they get the chance, if they have a rebellious heart. They accuse God of anything and everything from pollution to His creation of hell. Some even get angry at Him if He doesn’t do things their way. Many people will curse Him for living up to His Word when He tells them that because of the choices they made, choices contrary to His plan for salvation through Jesus, they can’t be with Him for eternity.

The answer to life is really quite simple and quite wonderful. There is a God. He really is God and we are not. We serve Him; He doesn’t have to serve us. He wishes that no one would be banned from His presence, so He has provided a way for everyone to be able to spend eternity with Him through Jesus. If we accept His way, we will be with Him. If we try to be accepted by Him by doing things any other way, we won’t. Submission to His ways leads to a joyous, abundant, fruitful life, and then, a glorious eternity in His presence.

Teach me Your ways, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“When was the last time that you loved someone with reckless abandon? For that matter, when was the last time you did anything that resembled the character of My Son without the bondages of traditions, personal inhibitions, or fear?

I would like you to know something. Please, never forget it. Because I love you so much, I have poured Myself into you. My Son gave everything away for your benefit. My people have, for centuries, given everything - even their lives - for the good of others with that same love. They have had the heart of Jesus and were justified in calling themselves by His Name. I was honored to bestow that Name on them. When they lost everything, they proclaimed My Name louder than ever. When they were called upon to give up their lives, their hearts praised Me for the opportunity to do so. No one could overcome them, because they had won every battle in their prayer closets before it manifested itself in front of them. They gave everything away in their hearts long before others took it from them. I had people who could be used to show the world the heart of Jesus.

I am very concerned about your generation. You hold on to everything I give you, or give only a small portion of it away, calling it stewardship. Your praise is hindered because you have not completely surrendered to My Lordship. Where there is no surrender, there is no real praise welling up in your hearts. How could it come forth when it has not been nurtured in your heart? You are comparing yourselves with yourselves to see how you are faring in My economy. That is one of the reasons you do not come to repentance. Compare yourselves with Jesus, or My true prophets, or those who died praising Me in the arena. Then see how you fare, and come to Me in repentance.”

Acts 8:1b and 4 AMP

1bOn that day a great and severe persecution broke out against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles (special messengers).

4Now those who were scattered abroad went about [through the land from place to place] preaching the glad tidings, the Word [the doctrine concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God].

Romans 15:1-7 NIV

1We who are strong ought to bear the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.

2Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

3For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”

4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

5May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus,

6so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

I have often thought of writing a story about dropping someone from this generation back into the first century during the heavy persecutions; especially someone who has accepted the prosperity doctrine or the “name it and claim it” foolishness that is so prevalent within today’s church. Where would they find peace sitting in the arena or when fleeing because their homes were confiscated? Could they praise the Lord for the opportunity to lay their lives down as Jesus did, instead of speaking “positive words” to deliver themselves from the trials?

Before the rest of us judge them, how about if any one of us were there? How much fear would we have? How much “justice” would we demand when we were persecuted? How much of our prosperity would we justify when others had nothing? Would we sell everything that we had so others could have a little something? Would we demand the “right” to prosper?

Frankly, I wonder how we can feel proud of giving our pittance to the work of the Lord when Ananias and Sapphira fell down and died because they held back a small portion of what they should have given and then lied about it. Both we and they made the same commitment to God when we accepted Jesus – “Everything I have is Yours, Lord.”

The lesson has little to do with money. It is an issue of the heart. Is everything we have truly His - time, relationships, money, thoughts, etc.? I’m sure that He loves us; but is He proud of us when we have promised Him everything, yet hold back in every way, actually offering even less of what we have than what Ananias and Sapphira held back? I wonder.

Lord, teach me to hold nothing back,

Jim Corbett

“Live out this day for My good! I have appointed it and I desire your participation. Your part in My plan is important. If you waste your time pining over yesterday or spend valuable moments fearing tomorrow, you will not appreciate all that I have for you today. If you live your life in the joys of the past, or base your hope on a better tomorrow, you will not consider today important enough to involve yourself fully in My plan for you.

Start considering each day as important as I do, be it filled with challenges, alive with opportunities, or a simple day of rest. Learn from your past, look forward to My future with you; but live this day with the passion that Jesus lived each moment He was with you. He understood how important His each and every day was. So must you!”

John 4:34 NIV

”My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Acts 17:28a AMP

For in Him we live and move and have our being...

2 Cor. 3:3 AMP

You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with [the] Spirit of [the] living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

2 Cor. 5:20a NIV

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

Colossians 1:7-12 NIV

7You learned it (the gospel) from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,

8and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully

12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

I am heartbroken over the days that I have wasted by focusing on past mistakes or by worrying about what is ahead. As I think of how little was accomplished by my worry or regret, I can understand why it is so much more fruitful to direct my attention to each day’s tasks and situations as they happen. It also means that I am trusting my Lord with all of the rest. If I seek Him as my priority, I can be confident that He will cover what I have done, and that He is in charge of what comes next.

It’s a matter of trust, isn’t it, Lord?

“Why would you give what I have given you to those who choose not to hear, when there are so many people who are hungry for My Word? I have trained you to walk with wisdom. You have eaten at My table. I have given you My heart. I have whispered My secret longings to you in our intimate times together. Be careful what you do with them. Make sure that you share this wealth only with those who will not throw it down as yesterday’s laundry.

You have been trained to walk and reason above the ways of the world. Stand until I tell you to move. Go only where I call you to go. You have been taught to move only for My reasons, in response to My heart, not by the needs that you encounter. You are My vessel of service. I have trained you and fed you from My hand. Nourish others when and where I tell you. I love you.”

Exodus 33:13-16 NIV

13“If I have found favor in your eyes, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Luke 10:5-6 NIV

5“When you enter a house, first say, ’Peace to this house.

6If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you.”

Luke 10:10-11 NIV

10“But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say,

11‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you’…

Moses had the key to a powerful life. He would not do anything unless he was told to do it; and then, he knew that whatever he was told to do was fruitless unless the presence of God had gone before him.

Think of how many times we have gone running ahead of God and fell flat on our faces. Think of how much more peaceful our lives would be if we knew for sure that the Lord had sent us to a specific task, and that He had assured us that He was with us there. Nothing could sway us. We could remain for as long as the Lord asked us to be there without wavering, no matter what the circumstances might look like.

Teach me to listen first, and then wait until You have gone before me, Lord,

“I have always asked you to invest in those things that are eternal, so that your life is of eternal consequence. Most of you, however, are struggling to find what has eternal weight and what does not. The answer is really quite simple. Any way that you spend your time, knowing for sure that what you are doing comes from My heart, has eternal consequences. All of it is called ministry as far as I am concerned.

You run into problems when you take on anything that is not directly from Me. When you have not spent enough time with Me to really know My heart, all of the passions, fears, and concerns of the world become big in your eyes and cloud your vision. They are earplugs and eye coverings to My will and My Word for your life. Investing in the eternal is what really matters to Me. Investing in our intimate communion is how you know what that is.”

Psalm 111:2 NIV

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.

I Cor. 4:17-18 AMP

17For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

18Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.

God has a proper time and place for everything He does. If we choose to delight in His ways and find what they are for us every day, we will walk in complete, ordered unity. Not only will we be able to discern between what is carnal and what is of eternal consequence, we will also find answers for every need at the proper time and in the proper place, because we have chosen to lay down our will and discover what the Father has in mind for us.

I picture those of us, who desire to follow the heart of God and are spending the necessary time to know our personal directive of our Father, moving at the proper speed - which has been established by the Father specifically for our life plan - with a beat that is perfect for our personality. Walking within these parameters makes us capable of walking in His perfect will, our actions having eternal impact. We will always arrive in His timing for whatever the Lord has established for our lives and our portion in His eternal plan.

Keep me in step, Lord,

“When I remove My hand from something, only darkness is left. When I bring judgment upon something, it must reel under the weight of My purposes. It must eventually surrender to My will or it will simply cease to exist.

People have become used to My grace upon this land for so long that it has been taken for granted. As My judgments flow, many will curse Me; others will see that I am doing what I have promised all along, allowing everyone a final opportunity to turn to Me.

Even judgment is really My mercy and grace for it brings you, My people, to Me. You really come to Me only because you have need, but you do come.”

Rom. 8:28-31 AMP

28We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

29For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

30And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified (acquitted, made righteous, putting them into right standing with Himself). And those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity and condition or state of being].

31What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]

To say that we are blessed is an incredible understatement. I think of my life; when I realize what I really deserve, all I can do is fall in a heap at the feet of Jesus, thankful for His mercy toward me. He accepts me when I don’t deserve acceptance. He loves me even when I have no idea how to love Him back. He is with me even when I choose to be far from Him because of my choices and failures. I will be with Him forever because He loved me enough to die for me.

The mercy of God is beyond understanding. First, there’s Jesus, the epitome of mercy toward a creation that had no hope of any kind of deliverance from its sin. He came even when we didn’t want salvation; but in God’s mercy, He came to us.

Now, in the closing moments, the incredible patience and mercy of God is the only power holding back the close of all things and the final damnation of all those who scorn God. God wishes that none should perish, so he is giving more time to those who need to repent before He closes the door. Even the tribulation period - with its judgments, horrors, and overwhelming dismay - is God’s mercy. It is a final chance to repent. Those who wouldn’t bend their knee in good times are put under so much pressure that they either bend and repent or walk away cursing.

What an incredible God! What mercy! Thank You, Lord.

Walking with a grateful heart,

Jim Corbett

“Throughout My Word, I require that you trust Me. You must trust Me to be the God that I say I am. Trust Me when I say that Jesus is Lord and that He has done and is doing what My Word proclaims aloud. You must believe in My covenant and all of its provisions, and trust that what has been provided for you after you close your eyes for the last time will come to pass. I require you to trust Me with your every moment of life; that I will direct your steps and that you will prosper if you do so.

Because I require you to have an unlimited amount of trust in Me, I place Myself in a position of being trustworthy. If that were not so, then all that I have said and all that has been done would be a lie. You can be confident of My promises because I am in covenant with you. You can be assured of My ability to direct your steps and fulfill My promises for your life. You can rest in the fact that I am your God, worthy to be honored. You may walk in some dark places surrounded by thorns, but rest assured that I am with you. I will never leave your side, nor will I ever forsake you. I promise. You can trust Me.”

Eze 2:6-8 NIV

6“And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house.

7You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

8But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”

Ac 20:22-24 NIV

22“And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.

23I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me.

24However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me. – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace...”

Ac 21:11-13 NIV

11Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘In this way the Jews of Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.’”

12When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.

13Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

If we look at this relationship with God through Jesus as a means for us to become “healthy, wealthy and wise” in this life, we will be sorely disappointed and deeply discouraged. We will make ourselves vulnerable to any attack of our enemies, and eventually distrust God completely. Should we expect and demand only a bed of roses, our life with the Lord will be one miserable experience. Few, if any, will see reason through us to embrace Jesus as Lord.

Whatever difficulties we may encounter have little or nothing to do with the trustworthiness of God. He never said that our life would be easy. In fact, He has often said that to follow Jesus would involve hardships, trials, and even death.

The Word says that if we say that we abide in Him, Jesus, we should walk and conduct ourselves in the same manner in which He walked and conducted Himself. He walked and conducted Himself in a world that mostly hated everything He said and did. The visible outcome of His actions was a miserable death on a slivered cross.

Paul - one of God’s most used messengers - was imprisoned, beaten often, and lived a good part of his life in squalor. In his eyes, however, none of that mattered. His God was not only worthy of trust, He was worthy of all praise and worship because of the honor of serving in that capacity.

We need to grow up and shake off all of the old teachings that proclaim that we call the shots with God, that He owes us wealth and success in some way. That kind of teaching is man-made foolishness and directly opposed to the Word of God, no matter how many times the Word of God is manipulated to try to prove that premise.

We have been bought with a price and have entered into God’s plan for the redemption of anyone who will hear. We are to carry God’s message of reconciliation to a dark and dying world that hates us and our message. It is a war won every day in the heavenlies and played out in each of our lives. We are God’s vessels, designed to implement His will, no matter what the cost might be to us.

His promises to us are that He will be with us every step of the way, guiding us and protecting us from faltering; and above all else, loving us. He can be trusted every moment of every day to do that. Praise Him for the privilege of serving a trustworthy Lord.

“Many people are waiting for you to become all that you can be in Christ Jesus. To some, you are the only Jesus they will ever see. To others, you will be just one more weak, religious hypocrite who cares little about them or others. Whether you want it or not, your life is placed in full view of everyone in your whole world as soon as you take on the Name of My Son, Jesus. You stand out because you are different. I have designed it that way.

Understand this! Whether they know it or not, every heart that exists has a need for Jesus. It is a part of the life process that I have created. Embracing Him is the only answer to life, the very reason for living. Every man, woman, and child is in search of this answer. Whether you like it or not, you are representing the life of Jesus before them. When you consume His life on yourself, they see it and turn away. When you spend His life for others, they see it and desire more. When His life in you is selflessly devoted to My will, they see it and embrace Him.”

Isa. 30:21 NIV

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Hos. 4:6 AMP

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge…

Matt. 5:13 AMP

You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men.

John 4:34 NIV

”My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Eph. 3:16 AMP

May He grant you out of the rich treasure of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].

Have you noticed that as soon as you acknowledge in some way that you are a Christian, people look at you in a different way? Have you ever wondered why? I have a theory! I believe that all people are looking for the answer to life. I know that Jesus is that answer. Deep down in the inner being of each and every person, I believe that they know it and hunger for it.

When you and I somehow make it known that we represent Jesus, the inner being of those around you is immediately at attention. The inner being that is in search of life becomes alert to everything you and I do and say with spiritual vigor, because we have said that we represent the truth for which it is seeking. How well we represent that truth from that moment on determines how free the Holy Spirit is to move that person closer to embracing that truth. I believe that the clarity with which we represent Jesus to every person in our little world is very important to them and to Father God. Just a theory!

Needing to understand the importance of my actions everywhere I go,

“Times are changing. What happened in the heavenlies times ago is oozing upon the earth with increasing speed. Evil is gathering momentum while good desires to remain comfortable. When you wake up, it will be too late to present Jesus to those who hate you. You will have missed the time of training unless you choose to invest in My heart now. The world and My unprepared church will respond to evil with carnal weapons because they choose to live with a carnal heart.

I am after your heart so that We can walk together spiritually against the warfare at hand. Learn of My spiritual weapons. Learn to love those who hate you. Learn to use My mighty power against those who cannot fight My kind of warfare. It’s time to use wisdom before it’s too late and you have no power to overcome. Turn your priorities around. Become a study of My ways.”

Ps. 56:1-4 AMP

1Be merciful and gracious to me, O God, for man would trample me or devour me; all the day long the adversary oppresses me.

2They that lie in wait for me would swallow me up or trample me all day long, for they are many who fight against me, O Most High!

3What time I am afraid, I will have confidence in and put my trust and reliance in You.

4By [the help of] God I will praise His word; on God I lean, rely, and confidently put my trust; I will not fear. What can man, who is flesh, do to me?

Isa. 59:19b AMP

…When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight…

Jer. 15:19-20 AMP

19Therefore thus says the Lord [to Jeremiah]: If you return [and give up this mistaken tone of distrust and despair], then I will give you again a settled place of quiet and safety, and you will be My minister; and if you separate the precious from the vile [cleansing your own heart from unworthy and unwarranted suspicions concerning God’s faithfulness], you shall be My mouthpiece. [But do not yield to them.] Let them return to you – not you to [the people].

20And I will make you to this people a fortified, bronze wall; they will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you to save and deliver you, says the Lord.

Phil. 3:10 AMP

…and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness…

We don’t like to hear it; but it is, nonetheless, true. To become like Christ, it will cost you everything that you desire in the flesh. To finally renounce everything that hinders you from becoming like Him, you will experience the death of those things one-by-one. The trials that come allow us to choose the sufferings of Christ in order to deny those hindrances any place in our lives.

Let’s talk about two kinds of suffering - suffering for Christ and suffering with Christ. To care only about what Jesus cares about means you willingly die to what you value. (Did you really hear that with your heart?) God’s trials and purging in our lives bring about this heart in us. It’s His heart with all of its characteristics, passions, and zeal. It is the only way to be transformed into His likeness.

Paul knew it and accepted it fully. It then became a lifelong joy. He joined God in killing his “flesh” man to become like Jesus. His joining with God against everything that denied Christ in his life, instead of fighting God over those issues (sin,) allowed the Lord to flow unhindered through him.

Because Paul did not cling to fleshly desires, he could take on the desires of his Lord. He felt the pain of those who would be separated from his Father for eternity. He understood the desperate needs of those around him. He had compassion on those who were in desperate need. After putting aside his flesh through the power of the Holy Spirit, he could take on the heart of Jesus that his heavenly Father willingly offered while they were in communion.

“When will you come to the end of yourself, so that Jesus can be Lord of your life? What areas are still under your control? When We talk on that final day, how important will it have been to have controlled what was not given over to Him?

You need to submit fully to His Lordship. Get your hands off of what owns you. Your submission will bring the freedom for which you have been looking. More importantly, you will then be walking in the obedience that I require.”

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

So many of us really need to reexamine what God means by Lordship. Our social freedoms have trained us to strive to have our own way to the point that we often apply them to our relationship with Jesus. That is a big mistake. I wonder how much we really are doing in our own wisdom, strength, and abilities and calling them “God” things. How much of our lives are really under the Lordship of Jesus?

Help me submit fully, Lord,

“Redeem the time that I give you. You have no idea how long this present season may last. If you are in a refiner’s fire, press in to what I am doing, so that I may receive a completed work from you. If you are in a waiting period, wait with Me. Rest with Me. I cherish Our time together. If it is a time of expanding your tent pegs, be diligent and cautious to hear My words and My direction. If your waiting season is over and I am asking you to move in faith with Me, trust Me to be with you each step of the way.

Every moment you are allotted is a precious moment to Me. Each one is valuable because every one of them is designed to form you into who I am making you. You are My personal project! I am not only accomplishing much through you, I am accomplishing much more in you.

Make every moment I give you count. Waste none of them. They may seem as if they pass quickly and are gone, but each is important to your eternity.”

Psalm 106:12-15 AMP

12Then [Israel] believed His words [trusting in, relying on them]; they sang His praise.

13But they hastily forgot His works; they did not [earnestly] wait for His plans [to develop] regarding them,

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness and tempted and tried to restrain God [with their insistent desires] in the desert.

15And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls and [thinned their numbers by] disease and death.

Living moment by moment with God is one of the highest honors any one of us has been given. Most of us, however, are so busy anticipating the next moment that we don’t enjoy the one we are in. God has designed every moment of our lives for our benefit. Every one of them adds to who we are becoming, so each and every one of them has an eternal impact.

When was the last time you really rested in the present moment with God? When was the last time you savored the situation you were in, even a challenging one, knowing that God was using it to build you into being more like Jesus? When was the last time you were satisfied to wait until the Lord moved on your behalf, instead of trying to push against the goad of your situation in an attempt to make things happen? Maybe it’s time to repent of all the moments you’ve wasted. Maybe it’s time to begin to learn how to cherish your present and future moments with God.

Teach me to see what is important to You, Lord,

“Have you noticed that few people are really concerned about being reconciled with Me anymore? Have you noticed that those who are supposedly wise in your world have done little research as to what happens to them after they close their eyes for the last time? Do you see the inroads that the enemy has made into the minds of fools?

People are joyously rushing to the gates of hell. My concern is that few of you are attempting to stop them! People are flaunting their foolish doctrines and My preachers are raising money for their ministry institutions. They are dragging the Name of My Son in the mud and few are responding as His advocates.

The enemy is insidious in his efforts to deceive and most of you feel you are doing enough. What if you, with a little more effort, could bring one more soul to see? Don’t you really care if that person perishes? Jesus did - enough to die for him! I care!”

Romans 1:28 NIV

Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.

Romans 7:21-23 NIV

21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.

22For in my inner being I delight in God’s law;

23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.

The verses above convict me of how alive my flesh really is. Most of us really do think of ourselves more than we think of Him. It’s time for each of us to look around and discover, possibly for the very first time since we gave our lives to the Lord, what our priorities really are and do something about them. We need to make some changes.

God hasn’t lost His edge. He is still passionate for souls. Jesus hasn’t let up. His blood is still fresh.

What has happened to us? Where is the weeping for souls? Where is the passion for the work of God? How far behind our own needs and works have we placed the work of God?

Forgive my selfishness, Lord,

“What do you still own? In the same way, what owns you? Name something that you will not or can’t give up and I will show you how it is not under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Would you like to know how I feel about ownership? It is what stops you from becoming all that you can be in Me. Lordship means that you own nothing in your heart. It means that you covet nothing but more of Jesus and His ways. It really means that you are absolutely free from the entanglements of the world. You are also free from guilt, because you have not robbed from Me what is rightfully Mine!

You gave Me everything. When you take back what is no longer yours, it is theft and it is sin. Repent and turn from your old ways. You are too important to Me to have you continue in your old life. Turn now! I love you!”

Luke 12:19-21 NIV

19‘And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink, and be merry.” ‘

20“But God said to him, ’You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21“This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”

Luke 21:1-4 AMP

1Looking up, [Jesus] saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury.

2And He saw also a poor widow putting in two mites (copper coins).

3And He said, Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them;

4For they all gave out of their abundance (their surplus); but she has contributed out of her lack and her want, putting in all that she had on which to live.

Gal 2:20 AMP

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Ownership is a big thing with Father God, especially heart ownership. Jesus paid a big price to have the Father own our hearts. Heart ownership is pivotal as to whether Jesus is the Lord of our lives or not. When He owns our hearts, we can finally be free to give Him what is rightfully His - everything else.

I surrender all, Lord,

“Remember when Our times together were sweet and full of love? Remember when your only thoughts were of Me and My plans? Remember when being obedient to My will was your only desire? You were completely in love with Me and the influences of your life meant nothing.

I want you to go back to that place. I want you to go back to and function from first love qualities. I really miss the quiet times.”

Matthew 14:14 NIV

When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

John 13:33-34 NIV

33“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

34All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

Rev 2:2-5 NIV

2“I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.

3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.

4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”

Love is a high priority in the plans of God. Everything centers around and functions from love. If it were not for love, He would not have devised a plan for our redemption from sin through Jesus. Jesus functioned in love as He healed the sick and as He went to the cross. Love means much to God. Our functioning without it, even doing good things for Him, does not impress Him.

Take me back to first love, Lord,

“Properly overcoming in the spiritual realm has less to do with your understanding of the power that I have given you, and much more to do with your submission to Me. Many of My children know the Word and the authority that they have in the Name of Jesus, but few of them are really accomplishing My will because they haven’t learned to listen to Me. They bind this and cast that, thinking that they are doing My will; but they are far from what I desire.

You - those of you who have been in My special training fires - are gaining My strength, My unlimited power, and the fullness of My resources because of your thorough understanding of your weakness when you are not in My will. That understanding gives you what is necessary to be truly strong. Your covenant authority imparted to you through My Word, combined with learned submission to Me, brings the fullness of your authority into proper order and focused power.

When others flail about, using the Name of Jesus to accomplish what they need for themselves, you wait with Me until I tell you when and where to move. When you move with Me, My presence is with you. That is good!”

Exodus 33:15-16 NIV

15Then Moses said to Him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Matt. 7:21-23 NIV

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’

23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

Matt.16:19 AMP

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.

Luke 10:19 KJV

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

John 4:34 NIV

”My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.”

Most of us rarely consider the damage that we do if we use our authority without consulting with the Lord before we use it. We use logic, need, fear, and many other reasons to push aside the evil that we believe is hindering us, but do we spend enough time with our Father in heaven to have Him direct our steps? Sometimes, repenting before Him in true remorse for our sins accomplishes much more than all of the huffing and puffing against perceived weapons formed against us will ever do.

Wow! Do I ever need You, Lord,

“Do you really understand the covenant that My Son and I have made with you and for you? My covenant with you has little to do with keeping you healthy, wealthy, and out of harm’s way, as some false prophets claim. My Son did go to the cross. Paul did spend most of his ministry years in prison. Countless missionaries of Mine did perish. You are no different.

Here is My covenant with you in a nutshell. I have promised to give you all of Myself while you live. I will equip you and fill you with My presence so that you testify of My Son. I have promised to change you, to finish what I have started in you. I have promised to be with you wherever you go, to help you through whatever situation you find yourself in, if you call on Me! You will see miracles when I need miracles to be shown to others. I will then bring you home to spend eternity with Me when your work is completed. You have promised to need Me and submit to Me as best you can.

You must realize that this life with Me is to fulfill My will. Unless you set your mind to be in line with My heart and My Word, you will find yourself confused, and eventually heartbroken. Do I love you? Oh, yes, more than you will ever know! But I also love those who hate both Me and you at present. I desire that they also be with Us for eternity. You are My agent to show them My Son, so that they have a chance to embrace Him. If that means that they need to see how He reacts to difficult situations, I will lead you into difficult situations for their sake because I can trust you there.

I have bought you with My Son’s blood. That is a high price to pay. I will show Him to the world in whatever way that I deem necessary and I promise to use you to do it. There is much work to be done at present. When it is finished, I will bring you home and We will celebrate.”

John 14:10 AMP

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me? What I am telling you I do not say on My own authority and of My own accord; but the Father Who lives continually in Me does the (His) works (His own miracles, deeds of power).

John 14:12-13 AMP

12AMP I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.

13And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son.

Rom. 11:36 AMP

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. [For all things originate with Him and come from Him; all things live through Him, and all things center in and tend to consummate and to end in Him.] To Him be glory forever! Amen (so be it).

I Cor. 6:19-20 NIV

19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

Col. 2:6-7 AMP

6As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him.

7Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

Col. 2:9-10 AMP

9For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].

10And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit— and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

It would be laughable if it weren’t so sad when I hear some well-known street-corner prophets proclaim a gospel of God serving us rather than one of us serving Him. I have seen so many young believers shipwrecked and discouraged because they came into the true Gospel under that teaching. When that teaching didn’t work - when they weren’t healed, when they couldn’t talk or pray or believe themselves out of a situation - there was no place to go. They felt God had left them.

I once asked the Lord to give me a key teaching that is always safe and in line with His Word. He said, “My true Gospel works everywhere, during any time in history, and in whatever situation you find yourself. It never changes.”

When I thought about it, those words made everything clear; and they’ve protected me numerous times. Prosperity doctrines will not work in impoverished nations or during God’s judgments. “Name it and claim it” doctrines did not work in the arena for the first century Christians, and so on. Any teaching that is limited to a generation, a locality, or a specific time in history has flaws in it, and will cause unnecessary rabbit trails. One by one, I have found that any doctrine preached must work everywhere in any season or it shows the Lord to be partial, when His Word tells us He is no respecter of persons.

The single teaching that seems to stand the test in every situation, every nation, and every generation is the crucified life. The teaching that we are not our own sets us free to be the Lord’s. When we understand that we have been bought with a price and are the Lord’s to use as He pleases, no real harm will ever come to us. We might be broken, shamed, and even killed; but when we have “died” already, who can harm a dead man? Having “crucified” our old nature with its self-serving ways, we have the freedom to live with Him and for Him. Our lives can freely be a testimony of God’s love to others. Basking in the joy of His love for us, remembering what lies ahead, we live for the well-being of others and for our Lord. We are free!

Teach me to remember what this life with You is really all about,

“Prepare, prepare, prepare. Prepare for a time when things as you know them will no longer exist. Prepare for seasons when you will need to call upon Me and then make sure that it is Me that you hear, rather than the enemy of fear and confusion. Prepare for situations where people, ignorant of My ways, desperately need answers and are asking you for them. It is time to stop playing games. It is time for those who know Me, to now also know how to use what I have provided for them.

From this date forward, be ready for anything that may come your way. Herald the call, talk to your friends, forgive your enemies. Make things right between you and anybody. Clean house and make sure all is in order. Children, prepare your hearts. Receive My love for you. Walk with purpose, for the time is near when I will need you to be a representation of My Son. Everything else will soon pass away.”

Psalm 24:7-10 NIV

7Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up you ancient doors, that the King of Glory may come in.

8Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

10Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty - he is the King of glory.

1 Timothy 1:16-17 NIV

16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Jesus Christ might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.

17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever, Amen.

Boy! I wish that I could always send sweet, lovely, fun kinds of messages. It seems that that is not always going to happen. For those of you who have been receiving these messages for a season, you know that we have seen the many sides of our Father during that time. The messages have had a range that has allowed all of us to “drink some milk” between the “meat” messages. That has been very freeing, and frankly quite wonderful - for me, at least.

At certain times, however, I have had to just sit quietly after writing and sending them to you. I have had to realize deep within my heart that, fact is, our Father is God with a “big G.” This is not a game. He is an absolute, unchangeable Creator and Lord, worthy of all our service. Also, He is our best friend, caring for us more than we could ever imagine. His love for us is beyond our deepest comprehension.

There was something worthy of note with this particular message. As I was praying, it seemed to me that, in the spiritual realm, a page was turning; and a new season was at hand. If before this day, Jesus, as our guide, had been taking us down a hallway toward a room, explaining all the way what we should do once we get there; now, we have just arrived at the room. What He had been explaining before was about to be needed, soon after we step through the doorway.

I’m not saying that peril is necessarily within hours or days, or even years, for with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day; but if you are archiving these messages, I believe that this one is worthy of note. Bookmark it in some way and by all means take to heart what has been said.

Sensing a new urgency,

“Do you know that I am aggressively at work, changing your perception of others? That is one of My main focuses on your path to becoming like Jesus. When I get you to see other people as He did, you will be well on your way to being a useable tool to accomplish My will on the earth. Before you have His heart toward others, all of your actions are tainted by your faulty perceptions and opinions. They are worthless in accomplishing My will. Jesus saw everyone from My perspective from the beginning of creation. His coming to earth was not just “happenstance;” it was an outward expression of Our unity. Long before the sin in mankind was expressed outwardly, even for the very first time, all was prepared to accomplish the work on the cross. We saw your need!

Have you ever thought of My Words to you and those actions toward you through the centuries - those written and those expressed in the life of Jesus - as the epitome of love? Everything that has been done was done for your benefit from a heart of love. I am bringing your heart to that same place of love. I need you to love others as I do. I want no one to perish, not even your most aggressive enemy. Set a gauge as to how close you are to being in accord with My heart. How much do you love others? I would venture to say that if you were really honest with yourself and with Me, you would find that you have little love toward those in My family, much less toward those who hate you.

You mutter, judge, and set your face against anyone who does not see as you do. How does that compare to the words of forgiveness that Jesus said from the cross? It is where you must go. It is where I’m taking you, before you are completely usable in My work.”

Luke 23:33-34 NIV

33When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals -one on his right, the other on his left.

34Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

More than likely the soldier who drove the nails in the hands and feet of Jesus still had the hammer in his hand. It’s possible that the men who vented their demonic aggression toward Him earlier with their whips, followed him to the place of the cross for the satanic thrill of final victory. Some scholars say that some in the jeering crowd, even some of those who only days before called Him the Son of God, spit at Him and gnashed their teeth against Him. In their grief, they hated Him for dying and disappointing their hopes. The religious leaders probably stood off to the side with smirks of prideful power, some possibly already plotting their next juicy bit of learned wisdom to give to their inquiring students.

For everyone there, and for everyone in the future who would laugh at His life, at all that He was, and at His gruesome death, Jesus asked His Father to forgive them. TO FORGIVE THEM! Of all the words that the Son of God could have said, of all the power He could have invoked against those who had murder, rebellion, ridicule, and every other base emotion toward Him in their hearts, He only spoke words of compassionate forgiveness and astounding love. His heart broke for those who killed Him. Even then, in the midst of unimaginable pain and horrifying death, He could only see their desperate need as they wallowed in their sin.

After many years of basking in that same kind of love toward me from my Lord, I probably still would want to call down legions of angels to get those ungrateful, pompous bigots if I had been Him; maybe even jump off that cross and shown everyone who’s really in charge. Why, I would…

Needing Your mercy and forgiveness more than ever, Lord. Please change my heart and how I perceive others, so that You can use me,

Jim Corbett

“Do you understand the heaviness you feel when you labor for others in prayer? Multiply that times every person who ever was or will be born, and you will begin to understand what Jesus went through at the cross. He carried your sin and the sins of all others. All the horrors of darkness were placed upon Him. To bring you to Me, I had to look away from Him, for darkness can have no association with light. Our grief won your freedom.”

2 Cor. 5:21 AMP

For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

Galatians 2:20 AMP

I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]: it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Ephesians 3:10-12 AMP

10[The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.

11This is in accordance with the terms of the eternal and timeless purpose which He has realized and carried into effect in [the person of] Christ Jesus our Lord.

12In Whom, because of our faith in Him, we dare to have the boldness (courage and confidence) of free access (an unreserved approach to God with freedom and without fear).

The cross! The cross! The cross! The central theme throughout all of creation! Eternity past looked forward to it. Eternity future will look back upon it as pivotal. Angelic creations learn and marvel at its work. Mankind benefits beyond measure. It is why we can even see the need to come to God and have the right to do so.

The cross! Without it there is no hope. Because of it, life can go on as planned by God. It is a place of death that brought us life, an altar of sacrifice that won our freedom, a moment in history that all of history remembers.

The cross! It is where the Innocent was put to death for the guilty by the guilty, who claimed innocence. It is the only accepted ticket to the marriage supper and the key to preparation for it. We must never forget its worth, minimize its importance, or side with those who do. We must take up our cross because Jesus took up His.

Teach me and change me, Lord,

Jim Corbett
