“Sometimes it is in times of pain and suffering that you find Me. Sometimes I need to bring you to the end of yourself, so that you will seek Me with all your heart. It is My love for you that turns your eyes toward Jesus. When you call out to Him in your desperation, He will come to you and bring you new life. Your religious heart will be softened. Your priorities will be put in line. Your motives for all that you do will become My motives as you grow in Me.

Call out to Jesus in your need. Call to Him for the first time or for as many times as you need. He is waiting to ease your pain. His love is always for you, never against you. He is Lord, and He is waiting to be Lord over your every situation. Turn everything over to Him. Submit yourself to a love greater than you have ever known. You will find the answers you have been looking for as you find Him.”

2 Samuel 14:14 NIV

“But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

Matt. 11:28-30 AMP

28Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

29Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.

30For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good – not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.

Luke 22: 61-62 NIV

61The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”

62And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Some of us think that we have the corner on this thing called Christianity. For a while, I sure did. Having met Him in a cemetery - stupid, full of dope, one day before I planned to kill myself - I found real life and real love for the very first time. I, of course, immediately turned everyone off with my zeal and freedom - being so full of newfound love, but so immature and insensitive.

What I didn’t realize at the time is that my Father in heaven brought me to the place of desperation, so that I would finally come to the end of myself and cry out to Him in my need. Because I was such a hardhead, I had to be stripped of everything before I would submit fully to Jesus and His Lordship over my life. I had to realize that I was helpless and needed a Savior.

Since then, His faithfulness has brought me to a point of need often, so that I would realize the necessity of resubmitting and recommitting my life to His Lordship. He would stop me dead in my tracks, making me realize that I was running off by myself somehow; and quietly bring me back to the place of total submission to Him, the only place of safety.

Here’s a thought. No matter how long you have known Jesus, no matter how much you are doing for Him, stop for a moment. Ask a few questions about your life. Is everything in order? Is everything at peace in your heart? If not, maybe the Lord is calling you to turn your life back to a place of total submission to Him. Maybe He wants all of you once again. Maybe the Father is saying that the answer to all your needs is Jesus, and He is asking you to get back to basics with Him before you can move on.

Going back often,

“Are you part of the crowd, or are you setting yourself apart unto Me? I never approve of mediocrity. I cannot abide the lukewarm heart. I do not accept cold petitions and insincere praise. I am calling for deep devotion, first love adoration, and zealous involvement from those who claim to be Mine.

There is still time. Turn your hearts to Me. Repent of your divided interests. Throw away the things of the world that have your attention. I will meet you right where you are. I will have mercy on you for as long as you desire, as you remain sincere in your turning from those things that are shown to be hindrances in your life.

The call is out. I want you to dedicate yourself completely to Me. Submit to Me and I will accomplish My desire in you.”

Romans 2:4 NIV

….not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?

I Th. 5:24 AMP

Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you].

James 4:8-10 AMP

8Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

9[As you draw near to God] be deeply penitent and grieve, even weep [over your disloyalty]. Let your laughter be turned to grief and your mirth to dejection and heartfelt shame [for your sins].

10Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

Rev. 3:15-20 NIV

15“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

16So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

17You say, ’I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

18I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

19Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be in earnest, and repent.

20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”

What an incredible Lord God! How merciful He is to have so much patience with us. I love the open kindness and loving mercy that our Lord has for us. How many of us would endure people whom we call friends for as long as the Lord has endured our fickle hearts? Praise God for the blood of Jesus!

I am convinced that this generation is being pressed on all sides for the purposes of refinement. We are being called to really become who we have been saying we are for a long time. Now He is forming us for His purposes, for this time, for these people. How blessed we are to be part of the plans of God!

“Have patience! I am about to send you forth, but you must not run ahead of Me in your enthusiasm. There is no need to hurry. Nothing will work for you until My presence is with you, so why would you move before I am ready to go with you and anoint what you do?

My timing is perfect. My appointments are easy. While you are waiting for My next provision or My next place for you to go, come and be with Me. I love Our time together. Being together is far more important than anything else that you do. It is why I have called you to Me. Be at peace, everything will get done, everything will work out for good. You come to Me. I am waiting!”

Exodus 33:13-16 NIV

13“If I have found favor in your eyes, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

15Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

16How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

Deut. 1:6 NIV

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.”

John 7:6-8 NIV

6Therefore Jesus told them, “The right time for me has not yet come; for you any time is right.

7The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil.

8You go to the Feast. I am not yet going up to this Feast, because for me the right time has not yet come.”

The completion of the galaxies was perfect. The parting of the Red Sea was perfect. The arrival of Jesus, His crucifixion, and His resurrection were perfect. Everything that God does is perfect - perfect in timing and perfect in completion.

As we study the life of Jesus, it rings in perfect unison with His Father. He did what He had been told to do at the proper time, which resulted in a perfect conclusion.

Does it seem a little foolish to you to think that we could run ahead of God, function in our own timing, and then believe that we might accomplish something for Him? Does it make any sense for us to worry or be impatient while we wait for Him? Wouldn’t it make more sense to let Him be God and not do His planning for Him? DUH!

Teach me to wait patiently, Lord,

“Few of you understand how much you harm yourself by reentering places and rejoining people from whom I have delivered you. Sometimes you even return for the sake of fleshly unity. Why would you decide on your own what is best for you, and then complain to Me when things become troublesome? I deliver you for reasons that you may not understand completely, but you must begin to trust that I know what I am doing.

I place you in refiner’s fires and then I remove you when you begin to look to Me for all of your needs. I deliver you, change your circumstances; and set your feet on solid ground, so that you can be part of My plan. I desire to use you. When you allow your own refiner’s fires back into your life, they destroy you rather than teach you My ways. You become ineffective.

You really need to take a good look at your life. Are you where I have placed you with those with whom I have placed you, or are you where you thought you should be without seeking My counsel? One is life; the other is death.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

6in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

9“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Jeremiah 29:11-14a NIV

11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

14aI will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.”

Acts 15:36-40 AMP

36And after some time Paul said to Barnabas, Come, let us go back and again visit and help and minister to the brethren in every town where we made known the message of the Lord, and see how they are getting along.

37Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark [his near relative].

38But Paul did not think it best to have along with them the one who had quit and deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone on with them to the work.

39And there followed a sharp disagreement between them, so that they separated from each other, and Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus.

40But Paul selected Silas and set out, being commended by the brethren to the grace (the favor and mercy) of the Lord.

Because of these e-mail messages, I have come to know many, many people from all across the land, even in some remote parts of the world. Because of the strong, direct content of these messages, only those who choose to really go deeper with God, and have learned to wait on His counsel, continue to receive them for any length of time. Others ask to be removed from our mailings soon after their flesh is made uncomfortable by what is said.

What I have learned from many of those who are digging in with the Lord is how important it is to be exactly where He places us, exactly with whom He places us, for precisely as long as He desires us to be there, whether it is a wonderful experience or an intense challenge. On the other hand, I have learned that to remain there, wherever it is and with whomever it is, for one millisecond longer than the Lord desires for us is foolishness at a minimum and downright dangerous in most cases.

So many times I hear of people wondering where God is, when they are the ones who have moved far from where He wants them to be because of their own decisions and desires. He cannot bless them where they are, when they are out of His will. Only repentance and obedience will rectify an unhealthy, dangerous situation.

Take my hand and lead me on the right path, Lord,

“I have created you from My heart. I have given My time to you because of My love. All the work of the cross, every stripe that Jesus took, every weight that He bore were because of His love for you. You are surrounded in compassions that initiate from My throne room. Nothing can separate Us, because nothing is powerful enough to interfere with that. I am your God and you are Mine. Our relationship is sealed. Our eternity is planned. Walk in the confidence of My love for you.”

Gen. 1:31 AMP

And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely…

Hebrews 13:5b AMP

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

II Cor. 1:21-22 NIV

21Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,

22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

What a comfort to know of the life-giving love of our Father. How important it is to press into that love. Going even days without proper communication, proper investment in His Word, and proper acceptance of that love causes our inner being to long for Him. Without knowing it, we are starving to death on the inside. Jesus is life in the truest sense of the word. Without Him, we die in so many ways.

Thank You for Your life, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Join Me in destroying those things in you that separate Us or limit Our intimacy. You must not tolerate them in you if you desire to be completely Mine. You know what they are. I have been pointing them out over and over again. I use My Word. I use those I bring to you. Now it’s time that you listen and submit to My hand upon you.

As you fortify yourself against My intervention, you become opposed to Who I am. When you resist My removal of your sin and build your little support places to be able to remain where you are, instead of where I want you to be, you are no longer an ally to Me and My Word. That is not a good place to be! I am relentless in My covenant promise to make you into the image of Jesus.

You have some choices to make. Make the right ones and your joy will return because We are walking together again. It is always good for you to side with Me. I win!”

2 Samuel 14:14b NIV

“But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him.”

Romans 2:4 NIV

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance?

Eph 4:12-13 AMP

12His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church),

13[That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.

Hebrews 12:10-11 AMP

10For [our earthly fathers] disciplined us for only a short period of time and chastened us as seemed proper and good to them; but He disciplines us for our certain good, that we may become sharers in His own holiness.

11For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems grievous and painful; but afterwards it yields a peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it [a harvest of fruit which consists in righteousness – in conformity to God’s will in purpose, thought, and action, resulting in right living and right standing with God].

Forgetting God’s promise to be relentless against our sin is not a wise thing to do. It can be great cause for confusion as we deal with the reminders He places before us, if we think that they are attacks; or, worse yet, harbor thoughts that He has turned away from us. His great love is what motivates Him to eliminate those things that harm us and our relationship with Him. We need to join with Him against those things, rather than fight the process.

Help me to learn to work with You, not against You, Lord,

“Have you ever considered that the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus took place in a remote corner of a vast empire? If I hadn’t willed it to be noticed, it would have remained an obscure event. Even His crucifixion was one of many that took place week after week in that day. Because I chose to place My hand upon this event, that day on the cross was, among many things, the dividing day between the old and the new.

To this day, you determine your place in time as before or after this event. No other day in history is given so much importance, even by those who do not know that they are doing it. They function by My calendar whether they want to or not.

Have you ever considered that Paul’s letters were similar to many such pieces of correspondence written to loved ones from prisons? Because I had My hand on him, his writings have transcended time and history. He was simply being responsible for the ministry that was on his heart. I had greater plans. I chose that countless numbers of people would read them, so that is what happened.

In the same way, I choose that your life be significant. If you will simply follow My desires one day at a time, nothing will stop that from happening. I promise. You have My Word on it!”

Eph. 5:1-2 AMP

1THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

2And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.

Col. 3:1-4 AMP

1IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

2And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

3For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.

4When Christ, Who is our life, appears, you also will appear with Him in [the splendor of His] glory.

Ja 4:10 AMP

Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

A life that is significant is one upon which the Lord places His hand. Events and acts of obedience- such as the cross and the letters written by Paul - have great significance for obvious reasons. The cross of Jesus Christ is the single most significant event in all of history. Without it, nothing in this life really matters.

In God’s economy since the cross, however, your comings and goings are of great importance to God, especially if they are in obedience to His desires. The hugs that you give, the meals you provide, the smiles that you share are significant to our Lord. They, in their own way, could carry the weight of Paul’s letters, should the Lord choose to place His presence on them. You may never even know it until you are with the Lord.

I know a lady who at one time felt that she would never be used by God. She simply went about her days attempting to follow her Lord as best she could. She was diligent in caring for her ailing husband, and now has taken the call to pass on some of the works of a small ministry. I’m sure that there are times when the enemy loudly proclaims to her the insignificance of her life.

In God’s economy, however, the heavenlies proclaim the wonder and importance of her every day on earth. She is being used by God in ways that only a life in eternity will expose. God has His hand on her and her heart is His. That makes her of unlimited significance. It is the same with you as you follow the Lord, one day, one step at a time.

“I cherish you. You are the delight of My heart. I cause all things to work together for your good. You have an inheritance that cannot be tarnished. You have a covenant with Me that cannot be revoked. I will take care of you. I love you!”

Ps. 149:4 NIV

For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.

John 3:16 NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 8:28 NIV

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Many of us forget that all Jesus did and all that He continues to do is a love letter to us from Father God. We are truly blessed to have a God who backs up His Word with action that is eternally effective through Jesus.

“Choose the mind of Christ. Shake off all the thoughts of the world that hinder Our association. Submit yourself to My thoughts. Align with My Word. You are not walking with My presence because you have submitted to thoughts and habits that are not Mine.

Little by little, you have lost the intensity to follow Me with all your heart. The enemy has crept in and you are now comfortable with some of his ways. Shake off the dullness in which you are living. Wake up to your lethargy. It is part of a plan to destroy your zeal for Me and My plans. Repent. Turn now!”

Ps. 94:11 AMP

The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vain (empty and futile–only a breath).

Matt. 13:22 AMP

As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit.

Romans 8:5 AMP

For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.

I Cor. 2:16 AMP

For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

Gal.3:3 NIV

Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?

Gal. 5:7-9 AMP

7You who were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (hindered and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth?

8This [evil] persuasion is not from Him Who called you [Who invited you to freedom in Christ].

9A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump [it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church].

Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV

22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

23to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Colossians 3:1-5a NIV

1Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.,/p>

2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.

5aPut to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature…

“Most of those I have sent forth to do My work have become distracted or have fallen asleep along the way. Others have been mesmerized by the trappings of the world and have used My provision to pad their personal comfort zones. It truly looks as if there are very few proclaiming the truth of My Word. Outwardly, it appears as if the money changers have again taken over My temple. You need to look closer. I have a remnant. I have a people who are familiar with the coals at My altar.

There are those who have embraced My refiner’s fire and have proven their love for Me. They have been faithful in all of their assignments no matter what the cost has been to them. Many have often laced their sandals and prepared for journeys of valor, carrying My hope to others. They are unrecognizable by the world and most of those who are squandering My time and My mercy. They are the quiet few who carry the bridal heart of Jesus wherever I tell them to go. I am about to give them a wedding garment in exchange for their well-worn worker’s clothing. I am about to send forth My Bridegroom for them.”

Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 16:22-23 NIV

22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”

23Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Out of my sight, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

Matthew 21:28-31 NIV

28“What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’

29“‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.

30“Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will sir,’ but he did not go.

31“Which of the two did what his father wanted?”

If you are slumbering, you need to wake up. If you are distracted, you need to regain your focus and align it with God’s focus for you. If your personal goals do not center around a bridal heart and honorable preparation for attaining it, you have positioned yourself along the sidelines of where God is moving.

Please bring my heart in perfect alignment with Your heart, Lord,

“Beware! A spirit of deception has been loosed upon your land. It will come in many forms and from many arenas. Many false prophets and false teachers will proclaim in loud voices things that are not true. They will proclaim misinterpretations of My Word to hinder you from laying your lives down completely during these times and seasons.

You also need to be aware of the plans of the enemy of your soul, so that you do not fall for his tactics to separate you from one another and waylay you from your appointed tasks. This spirit will have a twofold front. It will inhabit those who spread the deceptions, and it will be waiting to invade the hearts of those who are ripe to receive the lies.

Those who will participate in spreading words that are not My Words have been walking in deception for a long time. They will simply become more prevalent. Each of you, however, must be on guard to protect yourselves from receiving the deceptions pointed in your direction. Do not think that you cannot fall. Do not allow your pride to set you up for failure. Guard your heart. The enemy will attempt to plant seeds of discord, doubt, unbelief, contention, and fear in your hearts, wanting you to entertain them long enough to eventually have you fully embrace them. He is attempting to destroy any unity and cooperation within the body so that My work will go unfulfilled.

You must be on guard at every moment. Be advocates one for another. Do not listen to gossip. Forgive easily and often. Reconcile fast. Communicate openly. Live a life of repentance. Trust your alliances fully. Trust Me with all your heart. Trust My Word. Spend many moments of time with Me and I will give you the proper discernment to prosper. You are safe with Me. I will keep you in truth.”

Ezekiel 13:7-8 AMP

7Have you not seen a false vision and have you not spoken a lying divination when you say, The Lord says, although I have not spoken?

8Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have spoken empty, false, and delusive words and have seen lies, therefore behold, I am against you, says the Lord God.

James 1:21-22 AMP

21So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.

22But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].

I Peter 5:5b-7 AMP

5b…Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)-[and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble.

6Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you.

7Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.

For a while, Merry and I ran a radio station. We focused on praying over everything, including the words we spoke, each and every song we played, and everyone we hired. We had many challenges; but all in all, we often marveled at the freedom the Holy Spirit had in our midst. There were many sold–out believers involved, who wanted only the Lord’s will for their lives and in the station. There was a unity of spirit that was rare for any working environment. Most of the time, everyone really worked for the benefit of the other. It was truly fun being in that atmosphere.

Once, however, almost overnight, strife and division became very evident. People began talking about other people, accusations of minor consequence were ballooned into rivalries; and friends sided against friends. It seemed as if our camp was split right down the middle. This went on for several days. Nothing could be accomplished because there seemed to be no reason for all of the discord.

To get to the bottom of things, after much prayer, I interviewed everyone who worked there one at a time in my office. It wasn’t long before a pattern emerged. The name of one of my air staff kept popping up. I would be talking to a person and he or she would say, “Sue (that’s not her real name) said this,” or “Sue said that,” or “Sue told me that you said…” and so on. By the time everything was resolved, almost half of my staff had to leave because they were so deceived by Sue that they would not repent of their actions toward the others and me. They believed the lie and could not see the deception. It was incredible. The tragic thing was that all of the nonsense was totally unfounded.

It took many years - and only after the same thing happened with Sue and another group of people - for some of the deceived to find the truth. They then came back to us and were reconciled. True deception is blinding to even the most spiritual people. It sneaks up on the unwary and destroys the best of plans. Our little company almost didn’t survive.

The seasons in which we live are very important. Much is at stake. Each of us must be acutely aware of our need for God and also the tactics of the enemy. Each of us can be vulnerable to attack if we do not make our relationship with our Lord the priority of our life.

Needing Him more than ever,

“Do you know that every time I call you to account for who you are not, it is an act of deep, deep love on My part? Do you also know that My bringing you to this awareness means that I am holding you very close at the time and want only the best for you? It’s true. I have promised in My covenant with you that I would form you into the image of My Son, Jesus. One of the reasons that I must do so is so that you and I can have an optimum relationship. I desire that and it is most worthwhile for you.

However, you need to remember this. Do not take on the changes that I require of you in your own strength. If you do, we would be back to the time of the law, back into the old covenant. It would again be impossible for you to fulfill My call to holiness and it would cause you to cry out in your failure. When I show you something that is in need of correction, I never mean for you to do the correcting. All I desire for you to do is acknowledge that the correction is needed. I then cover every need with what was done on the cross for you and My Word in you.

I do the correcting deep within your inner being. Jesus really made it that simple and that wonderful for you. You acknowledge your need to change, and I will gladly take on the process of changing you until you are complete. If you ever pass the point of conviction for your sins and head toward condemnation, you have really missed the power of the work He did for you on the cross. You have slipped back into a system of works and religious activity. In that place there is only bondage. Satan then has free reign to keep you powerless to overcome anything.

If you finally realize, however, that I must continue to show you the way to holiness, and then also realize that I promise to accomplish it in you when you repent; you will gleefully embrace My correction for what it is - an act of love. Throw down your own strength now. I am not asking you to become stronger. I am asking you to acknowledge your weakness and your inability to change. That allows Me to be your strength. When you do this, it allows Me to be your Father God, your Friend, and your Protector.”

Prov. 3:12 AMP

For whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

Rom. 8:1-2 NIV

1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

Phil. 2:12-13 AMP

12Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).

13[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.

Have you ever seen a prize fighter who has already lost the fight and simply staggers around the ring on rubber legs, accepting blow after blow until the referee has to stop the fight? It would have been wise of him to have fallen down thirty punches ago in order to save some of the few brain cells he had left. Actually, wisdom would be to have never gotten into the ring in the first place. That is the whole point in God’s giving His Son for us.

I have encountered so many people in the church who never attempt to go deep with the Lord because of the seemingly impossible task of achieving death to their flesh. Whenever they hear the Lord telling them to go deeper, that request, along with all the other challenges that they are facing, is more than they can bear; so they become discouraged or give up completely.

Few understand that all the combined challenges and trials are being used to bring each of us to the end of ourselves. The Lord wants us to finally admit our inability to accomplish anything spiritual in our own strength. Like the punch drunk fighter in the paragraph above, we take blow after blow while attempting to remain strong enough to take the next hit. Why is it that we can’t understand that the Lord is asking us to stop fighting, and rest in His ability to fight the fight?

“I have begun in earnest to refine My church and define My remnant. To the church, I am exposing hardened hearts and the hidden motives that you have harbored for a long time. I am doing this so that you can repent. It is a final call for you to enter into the move of My Spirit in these closing hours of time. If you do not repent of your sins of self-consumption and your self-serving attitudes, you will be left out of the wonder of what I am about to do in this world.

To the remnant believer - those of you who have surrendered everything to Me long ago - a deeper work in you is still ahead. I understand the pressures that you are under. Be at peace, however. I have hemmed you in these recent days. I am the One who has dried up all of your reserves, so that I might prove Myself strong to you.

Press into My refining, defining fire. You are being taught patience and trust. It is My hand doing this deep work in your life. Those who now scorn you and your humble lifestyle with lofty, judgmental hearts will soon crave what you have earned through these challenges. You will soon flow in My anointing with My presence. You will be restored to early church, Christ-like heart and function. Be willing to pay the price you are now paying. It will be worth it. I love you!”

Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV

11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Joshua 7:13 AMP

Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel. You can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction].

Amos 5:4b AMP

Seek Me [inquire for and of Me and require Me as you require food] and you shall live!

Matt. 5:11-12 NIV

11“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Rev. 3:19 AMP

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude]

These are critical days and crucial moments in time. God is answering the prayers of those who have seen first hand the prophesied deterioration and falling away of those who are called by His Name. His answer to this coldness is to restore first-love qualities in those He will be able to use in these closing times.

There is no question that the world is changing. There are new needs that cannot be accomplished with an old anointing. Fresh manna is required to nourish those who are working on behalf of the Lord. That manna only comes from Him and will not be given to those who will consume it upon themselves.

Examine your hearts. Are your concerns centered on your comfort and safety? Is the fear of the loss of what you have consuming your days? If so, repent of your selfishness and self- serving attitude before you are set aside and cannot flow in what the Lord is about to do in these last days.

If you are craving more of Jesus, if your only desire is to honor Him with your life, press in to the trial at hand. You are being refined into gold. You are being made worthy of carrying His Word to a dying world with a heavy anointing and His strong presence.

Help me press in, Lord,

“Are you ready? Are you ready to expand your tent pegs? Soon your world will change. You will be required to modify your lifestyle to accommodate those challenges that will face you. For some of you, life will never be the same. External changes will not necessarily be the catalyst for your change; I will. I am about to fulfill My promises to those of you who have been crying out for holiness. I am about to equip those of you who have been faithful to My call to draw close. You will thrive during the coming difficult times. My presence will be with you. Prepare to receive My fullness.

Prepare to become leaders to a leaderless people. As I set aside those who have not heeded My calls and have continued doing “business as usual,” you will need to step in and respond to the multitude of questions and needs. You will need to have ready answers. You will need to represent Jesus by your fearless approach to the times and seasons.

Remember where your source of life is. It will still come from your devotion to Our relationship and spending time with Me. When the relative quietness of your world is shattered by the many requirements of your time, remember to set aside even more time with Me. Time with Me will be your resource. To be distracted from Our fellowship will dim your witness and minimize your effectiveness. Prepare now. Come to Me now. Come to Me more often then.”

Romans 15:1-7 AMP

1We who are strong [in our convictions and of robust faith] ought to bear with the failings and the frailties and the tender scruples of the weak; [we ought to help carry the doubts and qualms of others] and not to please ourselves.

2Let each one of us make it a practice to please (make happy) his neighbor for his good and for his true welfare, to edify him [to strengthen him and build him up spiritually].

3For Christ did not please Himself [gave no thought to His own interests]; but, as it is written, The reproaches and abuses of those who reproached and abused you fell on Me.

4For whatever was thus written in former days was written for our instruction, that by [our steadfast and patient] endurance and the encouragement [drawn] from the Scriptures we might hold fast to and cherish hope.

5Now may the God Who gives the power of patient endurance (steadfastness) and Who supplies encouragement, grant you to live in such mutual harmony and such full sympathy with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,

6That together you may [unanimously] with united hearts and one voice, praise and glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

7Welcome and receive [to your hearts] one another, then, even as Christ has welcomed and received you, for the glory of God.

Mark 6:30-32 NIV

30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.

31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

32So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.

Few of us really comprehend the value of being with our Lord. We squeeze in time with Him between our work and our daily commitments. How foolish. He should be our priority, not our minimum daily requirement.

I remember using a pressure sprayer to clean the patios, sidewalks, and driveway of a place in which we lived awhile back. (Actually I cleaned almost everything that didn’t move.) It was amazing to see the incredible difference it made. Simple hose water became a powerful force when sent through the machine. It was actually so much fun, I found myself doing more than I intended to do.

The system reminded me of our life with the Lord. We are very much like the normal hose, giving refreshment to those who need it, flowing moderately and as required.

I see continuous fellowship with our Lord as the power sprayer. Hooked up to Him, everything changes. Not only do we have the possibility of affecting others in the same way as before; but when His mighty force propels our flow, our impact is vastly different and much more powerful. We can do things far beyond anything we ever thought possible.

Keep me hooked up, Lord,

“When all your handles cease to exist, what will you hang on to so that you survive? What will you do when those things that define you are no longer available to you? You must begin to establish your identity in Jesus. Only then will you remain strong when all the world’s treasures become known for what they really are. Only Jesus will be your source for everything you will ever need. When He is all you have, He will be all you need!”

Phil. 3:8 AMP

Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs) in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One).

Would the loss of everything you call your own be the end of you? If Jesus was all that you had, and you had no hope to ever gain anything else, would that be enough for you?

I boastfully announced with most others around me during my younger Christian years that if He was all I had, He would be enough. When everything was taken away from me, I had to come to repentance. I was a hypocrite. I was not satisfied with only Jesus. I wanted security, reputation, a home, and the hope of things getting better. I found that Jesus, plus these things and more, made me who I was. It was a startling revelation; one that changed my life.

What makes you who you are in your own heart? If everything was taken away, would you be the same person that you are now? Really think about it and be careful with your answer.

Create in me a clean heart, Lord,

“To those of you who have been in My refiner’s fire, remain steadfast just a while longer. I am moving you to another season soon. In the time you are to remain under My hand of vigorous training, learn the deep lessons I am teaching you.

Rest in My presence. I will show you My heart as We spend quality time together. When this season is over, you will understand why you needed the skills I have given you. Others will benefit from your learned obedience. I will be glorified in your life as I send you forth. Be patient! I am with you. I will soon be able to trust you.”

Deut. 1:6 NIV

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

James 1:2-4 NIV

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,

3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Rev. 2:2-5 NIV

2“I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.

3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name and have not grown weary.

4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.

5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.”

Rev. 3:19 AMP

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

In the book of Amos, it talks of two not being able to walk together unless they are agreed. How can we expect Jesus to overlook the filth of the world’s attitudes that are still in us, when He died so that they might be eliminated? We are, in fact, saying that His suffering and death are of no consequence, if we refuse to allow lofty attitudes to be removed from our lives.

It is time that we all acknowledge our need of God’s mercy. It is also time that we understand that He is showing us our need; so that we, in turn, will function in His mercy towards everyone, as He has. He is being merciful at this very moment as we see who we are not.

To withhold mercy would, once again, show a wrong heart motive - one of consuming God’s mercy while showing none. It is one of the most selfish of acts, most unlike the One whom we say we represent and for whom we are waiting, so that He might take us with Him because we are supposedly like Him.

The merciless heart is very much like that of the foolish virgins in Matthew 25. They came, not for the good of the master who was to arrive, but for their own good. They are also the ones pounding on the door after it had been closed and locked. Quite a sobering thought!

Eliminate whatever You are after in me, Lord,

“Be careful that you don’t become complacent during times of ease and comfort. It is important that you seize these times to refocus and readjust, making sure that you have not moved from My calling during the times of pressure. Come close to Me. I will refresh your heart. I will comfort your spirit and give you strength to continue on. I will adjust your perspective and clear your vision.

When you are involved in a battle, it is easy to place emphasis on winning the battle, rather than seeing the larger picture of My overall plan. It is easy to limit Me when there is peril. It is in times of rest that you will be reminded of My motives and My reasons for your life.

You are of great value to Me. Never even entertain the idea that I have forgotten you or have not noticed your situation. I am always with you. Whether you stand in the midst of great peril, or rest by a quiet stream, I am with you. That is My way.”

Pr. 3:5-6 AMP

5Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

6In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Isa. 30:15, 18 AMP

15For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. But you would not,

18And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him, [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

Isa. 40:31 AMP

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Matt. 10:29-31 AMP

29Are not two little sparrows sold for a penny? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s leave (consent) and notice.

30But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31Fear not, then; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Heb. 13:5b AMP

… for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

Once we submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, every moment of every day is His. We have been purchased. Our lives are owned by another. No longer our own, our lives are to be in full submission to our Lord.

The plan of God is that no one should perish. Through us, He continually brings the knowledge of Christ to everyone we meet, so that they might see and embrace Him. We represent Him whether in difficult times or in times of ease and comfort.

When we go through difficult times, it is easy to focus on removing ourselves from the pressures that accompany them. We can become self-focused, attempting to be delivered. The best interests of God and others can be placed on a shelf, far behind our own needs during these times. We all have a tendency to forget that this life is not all about us, but about God and His plans.

In times of rest, our Father can bring us back to His perspectives, if we allow Him to do so. He can again show us the reality of why we have been bought and what our purpose on this earth is, while reminding us of the wonder of what is in store for us because of what Jesus has done. Our life in Christ becomes clear again.

Draw me to You, Lord,

“What is most important to you? What consumes your thought patterns? How close are your thoughts to My Word? If you are wondering why you have no peace or confidence in Me, why don’t you examine your motives for doing what you do? If you are full of unforgiveness, anger, self-serving agendas, or self focused direction, how can I be there with you?

You are not listening to the heart of My Word. I cannot go where you choose to live with your heart. I will never go anywhere that denies My Word. Why do you stay there and wonder why I am not fulfilling your requests? Get your heart in line with My Word. Repent of any area of your life that is out of line. Move to Me. I am where I always am, watching over My Word to perform it.”

Joshua 24:15 NIV

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

2 Chr. 7:14 NIV

“…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin…”

2 Chr. 16:9 NIV

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him...”

James 4:10 AMP

Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].

Rev. 3:19 AMP

Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude].

If we attempt to hold on to our lives, striving to maintain any semblance of control over them, we will lose their real value. If we voluntarily lose our lives, willingly taking the posture of Jesus by giving everything away to God, we gain more than we could ever believe possible. When we choose to make these fleeting moments in time that we call our lifetime all about the glory of the Lord, He shows us that He has far more for us than if we had been concerned only for ourselves.

It works like this: If we really do give everything away, He draws so close to us that our nature is superseded by His nature; and consequently, we care less and less about our own needs the more we come to Him. (Supersede – to force out of use as inferior, to take the place, room, or position of.) Our surrender causes the Lord to develop in us the character of Christ - a nature that is deeply in love with the Father and wanting only His desires - in place of our selfish, carnal character. The freedom achieved through our submission is the really good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God lovingly brings us out of the horrors of our fleshly nature. He places His life in us when we come to Jesus; then He adds and adds Himself each time we surrender.

Take my life and conform it to Your Word, Lord,

“When was the last time you were an advocate for Me? Have you defended Who I am recently? Have you upheld My Word when it was maligned by someone? Have you represented the life of Jesus when others were saying that the life of the world is the way to live? You are My representative. You are living where I have placed you with very specific people, for very specific reasons. Begin to represent Me properly in every situation. Defend My honor! Defend My plan for others! Defend the cross! Defend My heart!”

Matt.16:19 AMP

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth, must be whatever is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.

Matthew 16:24-25 AMP

24Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].

25For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting].

So often we forget that one of the main reasons we are here on this earth is to represent God in all of our actions through Jesus. His plan is that others see Jesus in the way we live so that none will perish.

Jesus had a passion to empty Himself and live a life devoted to others. He would never lift Himself up or hold Himself in higher esteem than anyone else – even the lowliest leper. Even though He was God, He held everyone in His heart as more important than Himself; especially those who laughed at, tortured, and crucified Him. He could not be wounded by their sin; He could only see their desperate need.

In the true spirit of advocacy, Jesus also desires to see His Father put “first” and is constantly looking to have Him glorified. His delight is in having Father God as the object of esteem in the hearts of those He loves. All of His mortal life, and now all of His kingly life, undergirds and points to the Father. There is no “one-sidedness,” however, as all of the Godhead - in unity of spirit, being one - point to each other’s wealth.

As the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus, who functions as our advocate, delights to see us accepted and perfected. He would gladly go to the cross again and again, if He had to, so that we could prosper and be complete in His Father’s love; and so that His Father would continually have the pleasure of our company. (Praise God that everything was finished once and for all at Calvary!)

With Jesus as our example, and with the Father’s love flowing through us, we are to walk as advocates for our Lord, each other as believers, and then on behalf of those who have need. Our adoption into the family of God, our sonship, gives each of us the heritage and ability to do so through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Fix me, so that others see You in me, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“If you turn your back on Me and do not listen to My Words, what can you expect your life to be? If you do not act as Jesus would act to others, how do you think your relationships will fare? When you choose to live like the world, how can I bless you? I have shown you how to live. I have given you a pattern of life to follow. His Name is Jesus.

Living any other way is choosing to live as the world lives. I have separated you from the world. You have been told to live in the midst of others, so they can see Jesus. You are to forgive them as I have forgiven you. You are showing them a religious, powerless person who has little resemblance to who He is. It is time for you to change. Repent now! Begin to walk as He does.”

Matthew 18:21-35 NIV

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

22Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

23"Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.

25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

26"The servant fell on his knees before him. 'Be patient with me,' he begged, 'and I will pay back everything.'

27The servant's master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

28"But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. He grabbed him and began to choke him. 'Pay back what you owe me!' he demanded.

29"His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.'

30"But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt.

31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.

32"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to.

33Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?'

34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers until he should pay back all he owed.

35"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart."

So many of us ask our Lord to give us mercy, but we won’t give mercy to others. We are ready to hold up the sins of others to scrutiny, yet we ask Him to cover our own. People who are spiritually blind can only see the sins of another. Even if they get to a point where they can see their own sin, they are more than willing to walk in little or no forgiveness.

God is calling His people to treat others in the same way that Jesus treated those with whom He came in contact. Most of all, He loved them. In the end, He gave up His life for them. We may not be able to physically go to the cross; but we can lay down our own imagined right to judge others, which is actually picking up our own cross and following Jesus.

Teach me to not worry about the slivers, Lord,

“My children, you do not really understand the wonders of repentance. Most of you are afraid of humbling yourselves in front of each other to the point that you would rather keep an offense active than aggressively pursue reconciliation. It is the same way that you treat Me. You come to Me with your offenses only when I have broken your heart to the point that you can no longer stand it. Then you pour your remorse out for a moment and walk away until the next time you feel you must come. It is a vicious, unnecessary cycle. Too much wonderful fellowship is missed between times of cleansing.

True freedom is the wonder of living a life of repentance before each other and with Me. That kind of life is not weakness; it is true strength. It is absolute, open fellowship without any hindrances. As you come to Me instantly and often, I have ample opportunity to impart Myself to you, allow you to grow unfettered by sin; and see you remain in a humble position before Me.

You are allowed to continually benefit from a flow of My grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Because of the openness of this kind of interaction, My Word rings clearly in your spirit, My voice is unmistakable over the din of life; and My direction is clear, quieting all of the opposing opinions.

I love to see you in a constant state of forgiveness. I love to flow continuously with you through your life. I love unbroken fellowship. Keep a short account with Me concerning sin. Come to me freely and often. You will be amazed how your life changes. You will be astounded at the power I give you to overcome the world. You will find the prosperity of continuous forgiveness so rewarding that your life as it exists now will seem dull and dreary as you look back on it from a position of freedom.”

Romans 8:1-2 AMP

1Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.

2For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

Hebrews 10:14b NIV

…because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Have you ever seen someone who cherishes something he owns, such as a new car? I don’t mean someone who simply enjoys the car and drives it; I mean someone who washes, polishes, and meticulously removes every hint of dust, dirt, or even water spot. Extending that thought even further, take someone who owns a show car.

If you’ve never attended a custom auto show, you should. Go there, however, with the thought that sin is like a speck of dirt. Gross sin is mud. Separation from God is a demolished car and repentance is the restoring agent. Now walk the aisles as a judge who gives out the trophies would, looking for the slightest flaw or hint of imperfection. To the untrained eye, every one of the displays looks perfect. To the judge, however, any shortcut taken in the building of the car stands out like a flashing light.

It is the same with the owners. Any owner who has a tendency to cut corners, or not seek perfection, will attempt to direct the attention of the judge with some sort of flashy make-believe, actually seeing him as an adversary who needs to be overcome.

The owner who knows everything is in order anticipates and welcomes the judge, knowing his car is the best that he can make it. Both judge and owner are there for the joy of being part of the best, rather than simply getting by. They participate together, both enjoying the wonder of the perfection available and working toward that end.

If the judge should find even the slightest flaw, causing the owner to lose the trophy for that show, you can bet that the flaw will be non-existent for the next show. Finding the flaw is simply one step closer to perfection as far as the owner is concerned. It is not an indictment, but an opportunity to be better and more confident next time.

So it is with our relationship with God. We can look at our loving Father as an angry, scrutinizing judge who wants to find imperfections in us so that He can punish us for not being perfect; or we can see our relationship as a union, building a work of perfection together, and enjoying each step of the way.

The first attitude leads to legalism, fear, and a haphazard relationship. The second is a picture of cooperation, mutual goals, and intimate communication, which leads to a wondrous fellowship, absent of any hint of fear. Each “speck” of dust found is enthusiastically removed and considered grounds for intimate communication in a relationship designed to attain the best “product” available - one that glorifies the Father, represents and pleases the Son, rejoices in the comfort of the Holy Spirit and points to their perfecting work. That is true freedom!

“Would anyone in the body of Christ miss what you’re doing if you stopped doing it? Would they feel the absence of your input in their lives? Would there be a spiritual void because the wealth you give them is no longer available to them? If there is no void, what are you really doing to advance the Kingdom of God? Maybe you need to make some modifications to your life, so that you are properly responding to what Jesus has done for you on the cross.”

2 Cor. 1:8-10 NIV

8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life.

9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us…

The following is a message of encouragement to the many ministers and missionaries on our mailing list, those in foreign countries and those here at home. It is a minister to minister encouragement. It is for the many who continue to ask us why they have no help to continue what they are called to do, when they believe that they are in the perfect will of God for their lives and are seeing much spiritual fruit from their efforts.

First of all, I believe that the above word is not for you. It is for those cold of heart that have ceased to hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to His church.

Having been in full time ministry for many years, Merry and I know of those times everyone in ministry encounters, when it seems as if no one would care if you stopped ministry and got a job at McDonald’s. We know of your pain as you pour everything you have into others who seem to only care about themselves, when you go without even the basic necessities or the tools to continue on as others consume God’s money, time, and commitment upon themselves.

Today, Father God has asked me to encourage you. You need to know that a spirit of stupor - a dullness and inability to respond to the heart of God - has been placed within the church by the enemy. People cannot hear your pleas, nor can they comprehend your need. Most, who feel that everything is right between them and God because they have much, have been so distracted by the riches of the world, the fear of personal loss, or the desire for personal gain that the work of furthering the Kingdom of God falls somewhere behind that new car, that piece of jewelry, that bigger house, or maintaining the lifestyle they have created. They only give crumbs from their banquet tables to His work and believe that they are doing enough. If they can’t help, they don’t even see a need to pray for those on the front lines of God’s work. You are not doing something that is causing the lack of provision, they are. God will deal with them in His time.

God, however, knows your need. He asks you to keep pouring into those to whom He calls you. He asks you to continue to care when it seems as if no one cares back. He is your source. He is your provider. He is your advocate when you can find no one that cares for you and your work.

Today, you must forgive those who cannot see. Forgive those who cannot hear. Today, you take up your cross and follow Jesus. Today, you be an advocate for others who are responding to God’s call. Do not give up. Do not despair. He is for you. He sees your need. He hears your plea and will respond. You are very valuable to Him.

You must not be discouraged by the hardened hearts of those who should know better. Many need you to continue. Many need what you have. Serve them with the heart of Jesus. Do not look for response or gratitude from those who cannot see the importance of your work. Your Lord is pleased with you. He will take care of you and meet your needs.

Those of us who hear Your call will go on by Your power, Lord,

“Did you know that doubt is one of the biggest hindrances to Our fellowship? It’s true! If, first of all, you doubt that I really am who I say I am, you will never embrace all that I have done for you. If, after you come to Me through My Son, Jesus, you carry any doubt that I have totally accepted you with an unqualified love, you will wallow in a partial, fumbling existence.

You will never experience the kind of wonder that I have planned for you. Instead of experiencing joy and contentment, you will only be able to muddle through your life, confused and marginally happy. That breaks My heart.

I would ask you to focus on this one request. Place your hand in Mine and spend whatever time it takes to settle in your heart once and for all that I love you; and that I am for you, never against you. I will always be against the sin in you, but don’t confuse My dealing with that sin and My caring for you. Get rid of any doubt in your heart. Throw away all your doctrinal teachings if they don’t line up with My Word. Eliminate all of your traditions and teachings of man. Press in to Me and require Me to open your eyes to the truth. Seek only truth, and I will show you that truth. I will show you My heart.

Once you have settled in your heart that I am real and that I love you, you will finally realize the wonderful life that I have for you. If you never settle these basic truths in your heart, how can you ever expect to get to know Me? How can you ever expect to have peace? Come to Me now; I am waiting to give you truth.”

Hebrews 11:6 NIV

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Let’s see… While we were still sinners, God loved us. We continually fail Him, but He continually forgives us. We deserve nothing but hell, yet He sent His Son to die for us. Over and over we fail Him, but over and over He promises to forgive us. Seems too good to be true, doesn’t it?

I believe that the plan of God is such astounding news, we are sometimes afraid to fully accept it. Maybe we unconsciously think that if we did, and then discovered the plan isn’t really as good as the Word says it is, we’d be disappointed fools. Isn’t that amazing? The God of everything has provided such wealth for us, and we set it aside as if it was too good to be true.

Let’s say that a friend walked up to you and handed you a package, telling you not to open it until you got home. After rushing home, you opened the package and found a vast amount of money and a note which indicated that the money was a gift, no strings attached. You could spend it however you pleased. It went on to explain the heart of the giver and his motive for giving you the gift. After checking back with the friend and profusely thanking him, you understood that the gift was real, and it was given to you out of honest love.

What if, however, you never spent the money, thinking it was too good to be true; and you lived in fear that someday the friend might ask you to return it? How foolish would that be?

In a very small way, that is how foolish it is to doubt God in any way. Over and over, He has written in His Word about the strength of His character, His love for us, and His astounding desire to bless us. Over and over, we refuse to believe that He really loves us enough to supply us with all that He has made available.

Wanting to no longer offend my Lord,

“Someone mentioned you to Me today. His life was changed because of something you said or did for someone you knew. He didn’t know that person, but his friend knew the person that you touched deeply and shared that person’s experience. You have no idea how much that pleases Me. Someone is changed, because you have decided to represent Jesus to those around you. I will take it from there.

Every gift you offer, no matter how insignificant it seems to you, is amplified through My Holy Spirit and broadcast as often and as loud as necessary, so that My life is brought to those who are hungry for it. You touch many by simply touching those I call you to reach. I am blessed by you affecting even one other person in the Name of Jesus. I love how you are starting to live. Thank you!”

II Cor. 5:20-21 AMP

20So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.

21For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

As I was writing this Father’s Heart message, I began thinking about several people who have affected my life immensely. I began to remember that some of those whom I respected used to talk of people who had great impact on their lives. For the last several minutes, the thought has come to me that the people my friends used to talk about probably talked of people who gave spiritual wealth to them many years before.

You know, it really began with One very important life, who lived His life in front of twelve, who lived like Him before thousands, who lived that same life in front of countless numbers, who then showed it to my friends, who showed Jesus to me. My job is to represent the life of Jesus to as many as I can, who will then show it to others. You have the same lineage.

Thank You for those who have gone before us and given such wealth to their friends, Lord,

Jim Corbett

“Are you preparing for what is ahead, or are you thinking that what you see around you are just natural happenings? Do not listen to those who explain away by natural means what is shaking your world. In their foolishness, they do not know truth. Your world is reeling and you, My children, had better take notice. Intense weather patterns are My weather patterns. Upheavals that are increasing in intensity are the fulfillment of My plan. Wars and rumors of wars are just as foretold and on schedule. When are you going to really take notice of what you are experiencing in your lifetime and act accordingly?

Stop being lulled to sleep by your ability to survive. Stop relying on those who say that they can help. Stop reasoning away what you are seeing with your eyes. These are My closing seasons and I am warning those who will listen. You have much to do for Me when the knowledgeable, the arrogant, and the powerful are cowering in fear.

Prepare your heart for a time when there are no answers and no places of safety. What you are seeing is just a prelude of things to come. My judgment is at the door of your world. Either become part of My answers when the foolish have none, or be set aside to become part of the angry, drooling masses when I explain My sovereignty even more clearly. Stop complaining about your training and begin learning. Time is short. It’s time for you to wise up!”

Psalm 46:10 NIV

“Be still, and know that I am God…”

Proverbs 29:1 AMP

He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck shall suddenly be destroyed – and that without remedy.

Isaiah 48:3 NIV

“I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.”

Matthew 11:12 NIV

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.”

When did “business as usual” become a biblical way of acting? When did the Lord ever tell us to become complacent? When was giving up because things are rough ever an example of the heart of Jesus?

You and I are God’s children, bought with the very expensive blood of Jesus. We have been designed for His use and brought up for such a time as this. Our training is purposeful. Our direction is clear. Our hearts are being made ready. Praise our Lord God, Who is faithful to His Word!

What is Your desire, Lord?
